Battery backup protects my Internet

The other day my Internet went down while we were away and I couldn't access my home security system from my Cellphone. When I arrived at home, I found that the battery backup I use to keep my cable modem, wi-fi and security system hardware running during a power outage failed after less than 3 years.
Even though that unit was still in warranty, I couldn't find the documentation to verify proof of purchase. I decided to spend a bit more and purchase an APC replacement supply instead of the brand I purchased originally. The APC unit happened to be on sale, so it was only $10 more than an exact replacement, and it is providing me with 25% greater capacity.
I've only had it a week now, but it's operating fine. The only issue I have with these supplies is that most of the equipment I need to plug in have oversize power supply boxes making it impossible to use every outlet. Fortunately, I was able to plug in my two wifi routers and cable modem without resorting to a secondary outlet strip, but I lost the use of one of the protected outlets. The security monitor that I would like to have available in case of an outage is plugged into the unprotected side. If the monitor goes down, I can still operate the system via my cell phone app, so the system is still operational. Not ideal, but I preferred that solution to the hassle of adding a second power strip..
I only gave the unit 4 stars because they had the room on the exterior to spread the outlets widely, but chose to group three outlets together and set only one to the side. Had they divided the outlet space equally across the front of the device and relocated the power switch, I might have been able to use all four protected outlets.

I bought this APC - Back-UPS 600VA UPS - Black to replace another APC i had been using for last 11 years. It was cheaper to buy new rather than to just replace a battery! (Make sure you take old battery to an e-recycler)
Unit performs perfectly and I highly recommend. You can never go wrong with APC brand.

I have owned it for about 2 months. I've had to used it 2 times already due to some short power outages. Have not being able to test how long the battery last, but it lasted the 30 minutes i was without electricity having my wireless modem and apple time capsule connected to it. Only down side is that it only has 4 of the total 8 outlets for the back up power. Which should be enough for most people. I'm happy to know that even if the power is out I can still have access to the internet(if its still working in my area) and my local connections to my apple time capsule.

Bro...sooner or later the lights are going to go out. Sometimes more than once a day! Now, if you are running critical electronics from your crib 24/7/365 then you can't afford to go dark..ever. This means you've got to have your own juice...your own supply...that's where the APC units come in...Set up is a snap..When the juice fails you can ride-out the interruption (up to 40 minutes***) until you figure out "Plan B". Trust MisterRoboto on this one.. Upgrade your personal grid and get the protection that APC provides. You won't regret it!

I got this UPS for my computer tower and monitor to prevent data loss and damage from the power flickering due to seasonal weather issues. The UPS has worked very well so far. You don't even notice short blinks and it has a big enough battery to let you shut down properly during longer interruptions. It has an alarm that goes off when you lose power which I find useful. If the power goes out at night it wakes me up so I can take care of things.

This is a big, honkin' heavy thing. I live in FL where the wind blows and then the power decides to take a nap on a near daily basis during the summer months. I purchased this for my desktop PC and gaming consoles so I would, at minimum, have at least enough time to save my games and documents when the power goes kaput. Mission accomplished.

This is my second APC Back UPS. First one is so reliable, I got another for my Satellite and Internet modem. Gives about 30 minutes of power depending upon load. Prevents electronics from flickering on & off during storms. Plenty of time to shut down electronic equipment properly. Easy to replace the battery

Bought several of these for small office. Each one has a workstation, monitor, printer, speakers, etc. plugged into it. We do get some power surges here at our office and the computers do cut off sometimes or go into hibernate mode. Not sure if a more expensive UPS model would do better when we have the surges, but I'm still very happy with the product. If you can get it on sale it is definitely a great deal.

Good for the price, reliable, shows wiring faults, very good for home offices and small businesses. I chose APC because you get what you are paying for. I live in the Lightning Capitol of the World, and my equipment is used to make my living, so no chances. Tip: Look for a sale.

I bought this unit as a power backup for modem, router , switch and ATA . This unit saved me from having to reboot the router and Obihai100 ATA when a brownout occurs.
My only issue is that the UPS power outlets are so close together that they won't allow power bugs that are oriented sideways . I have 2 of those types and had to sacrifice one outlet to add an extension strip .

APC protects my electronics at a great price!

Got a great deal on this backup power supply on sale for $50 instead of $75. Have used APC products for decades and trust the quality, features and price. Protecting my electronics from power surges, short (30 min or less) power outages and lightning strikes. Have one APC unit protecting my cable modem, wireless router, printer, fax and backup drive. Have a second APC unit protecting my DVR/Comcast cable box, main TV and sound bar.
Caveats: 1) In your planning, remember that all 8 outlets on this APC unit offer surge protection but only 4 of the 8 outlets are providing battery backup. So prioritize what devices you want to stay working if the main power goes out for a short time.
2) If your device has a normal power cord it will plug in just fine to the APC unit, But the outlets on the APC unit are close together. So if your device has a power block or brick with prongs coming out, it will plug in to the APC unit but it will block the adjacent outlet and reduce the number of usable outlets. The solution is to purchase 3-prong extension cords which are 12 inches or less in total length. They plug into the APC unit and then into your device's power block. Electricians/wiring contractors sometimes refer to them as "pigtails". You can easily find them in the aisle where they sell typical extension cords at a variety of home products, hardware or department stores for only a few dollars each. It is not a high priced item. If the price is high then look somewhere else and you will find them cheaper.

Just bought my second and third one of these. The first one backs up a desktop computer and monitor and easily runs it for 15 minutes after a power outage. The new ones are to power my cable box (Comcast) because even the briefest flicker of power and the box goes through the whole five minutes restart procedure. The other one is just for the modem/router/VOIP/NAT devices. We don't lose power very often or for very long periods of time but keeping all those devices from resetting and rebooting is worth the price of these inexpensive UPS devices (paid $45 each). Batteries are easily replaceable and about $17 each for the generic brand.

I purchased this UPS for my home office server and so far everything is perfect. I unpacked, plugged into the wall and plugged the server into the UPS and all was set. I connected the USB cable and then downloaded the powerchute software and it detected the USB immediately and gave me a few settings to choose from.
One note, this device is only compatible with Powerchute personal version and the only main choice you have is whether to all the computer to continue to run until there is five minutes left in the USP or shut it down five minutes after the power goes out. Either setting should be fine for a small office.

This is my 3rd APC UPS. Got this for my BR TV, DVD units, and satellite receiver. Other two APC UPS are for desktop computers (plus peripherals) and LR TVs, DVD unit and sat. receivers. These UPSs kick in as advertised when there is a power outage. When the outage is a quickie (a few seconds), your work or enjoyment go on uninterrupted. If the outage looks to be a long one, you will have time to shut down your TVs, computers, etc. properly and to protect them from potential brown-outs (these are the real danger to your entertainment devices). Just be sure you get an UPS with a sufficient VA rating to support your equipment.

I've had good luck with APC battery backup units. I've only had one situation with a bad power surge and the protected PC and monitor had no problems whereas other equipment with some other surge suppressors had serious problems. I find the batteries do degrade after about 3 years and have to be replaced. I suppose that's the nature of the battery technology. I've had limited success with third party replacement batteries but I've never tried an APC replacement battery as they are much more expensive. Frankly, I just wait for a sale and replace the entire unit for about the same cost as an APC replacement battery.

This UPS is a good value despite being slightly more expensive than comparable CyberPower UPS options. I previously owned a CyberPower, which failed and almost shorted out, so I decided to try a different brand. I have been pleased with the change. One of the options I really like about this UPS is that the battery is replaceable. Most guidelines state you should retire a UPS after three years to ensure the operation of the battery. With this UPS I can simply replace the battery!

When my previous UPS rig died, I found the APC - Back-UPS 600VA UPS at Best Buy at a good price. It is perfect for my home office, It supports my iMac computer, a U-Verse Gateway, a Brother printer and an HP PC and printer. The set up is trivially easy. There are sockets that provide UPS power in the event of a power failure. Other sockets are merely protected against spikes in current. Together they provide all I need in my home office.

I've owned several of these units and they function well in power outages, which being on FPL's system here in Florida we experience frequently. The thing to remember is to balance your load demands to the output of the UPS unit you are buying to get the residual power you need to be able to both keep operating in a power failure and to shut down your systems in a manageable manner. I have this unit running my flatscreen tv and stereo equipment both of which have nominal power needs.

I needed a reliable UPS for the PC in my apartment as I travel a lot & need to get information from the PC wherever I am. It's an older apartment; power dips at least 4x/year. My PC sometimes hangs at reboot, so I had to set up a UPS else I was dead until I got back home.
The APC setup in 5 minutes. First business trip I took, power failed at the apartment. APC kept the PC going for the whole time power was out. Whew!
