So far so good. I have been affected lately by power drops around my neighborhood. FPL claims they were working on some power lines, but having your power go "ON" and "Off" seven times in less than 1 hour is just crazy. As luck has it I had purchased this APC to protect my monitors and the ATT internet box. (PC is on another UPS). And during all 7 power outages it performed flawlessly. Is not too expensive either. Unsure if I can replace the battery down the line, but I'll cross that bridge when I need to. If I can get 3 years out of this unit, is money well spent. Would I recommend this unit.As of now Yes. (Its way better than not having one protecting your electronics). Hope this helps anyone decided on this APC. Good Luck and take care.

Exactly what we needed to protect our company drive computer. We bought this to replace the exact same model that lasted over 9 years with no issues. A fantastic company and great product, trusted protection

Prevent those brownouts, protect your power supply. I have a 1000W PSU, so this would not run long, but it does condition the power, and will protect your investment. APC is the oldest and most trusted name in UPS Gear. Trust them to protect your goodies

I have been thinking about purchasing a power backup for a number of years, and finally decided to do it after the purchase of a new desktop computer. It works great and over the past few weeks I have had a number of power outages or glitches, with none of them affecting my system. If you want to protect your computer investment, then this is a great choice. It has a good power capacity and and is a great price.

This is a great size backup to plug in several devices when you are only looking for a few minutes to shut them all down. It won't run them for extended time but that wasn't what I wanted. Outlet spacing is good.

A nice consumer UPS unit for basic power backup

I've been using, purchasing, specifying, and generally dealing with UPS units for the last nearly 20 years. This is a very nice consumer sized unit, for basic and short term power backup. Or it can be a longer term backup unit if not loading it up with stuff. The unit contains a 9 amp hour battery. That means it can power a 1 amp load for 9 hours. To find amps, you take voltage x watts = amps. If you are trying to backup a computer, modem/router, monitor, etc. it won't last very long. However, if you are using one of these on the power supply for your FIOS service, then another for your actual FIOS router, you'll be able to continue your network for a much longer time. Using the volts x watts = amps calculation, a 60 watt lightbulb could go for 18 hours. However, you have to back out the power the unit requires to provide the backup. But a modem/router might go 4 hours, or longer. So 2 of these, one on the router and one on the power supply for the network box as it enters your home, might give you a good quality backup power supply. It could be used to power a lamp and charge your phone (has a USB charger port). It can be used to help power other small current draw items. It cannot power a coffee pot, a sump pump, or other motorized or large draw items - no toasters, no space heaters, etc. APC has a very solid reputation and my experience with them professionally and personally has never been disappointing. In fact the APC ups units I have here are still in place years later even with dead batteries in them - they work great at surge protectors. This reminds me I have to change the batteries. The build quality is solid. The lighted power button is the key to what is happening with the unit. Solid green, good to go. Blinking green, on battery. And so on. The users guide covers the light patterns and meanings.

The APC – Back UPS 900VA is a simple device that just provides battery power for 6 of its 9 total outlets in the event of a power outage. It seems that this model is not designed like the APC batteries of previous generations where you could have the PowerChute software running and it would power down your PC in the even of a power loss or when the batter was depleted down to a certain level. This unit simply provides power with no data port to connect to a PC. I was a bit disappointed, but it is not a deal breaker for me since we rarely are without power in my area for more than a few minutes if at all. Power surges or sags do happen more often and that is what I am more concerned about. Using a UPS as this will provide protection from those type of events by providing clean power to the electronics without power fluctuations. I have a different APC unit on my TV and entertainment system to protect them. I have my mid-range gaming PC with a 25” monitor, modem, Linksys Velop node and my Arlo camera’s plugged into the APC unit and it when I removed power it was able to keep my devices powered up for a little over 10 minutes. When I tested it with just my Arlo cameras and networking devices (8 port Linksys switch, cable modem, Linksys velop tri-band node), it provided power for about 6 hours. I might purchase a second APC unit for just my PC since that seems to need its own battery. The design of the outlet plugs could limit the number of devices that you use if their plugs are not oriented in the proper way. If it is a standard PC power cord type, then you can use all 9 spots, however, just about all my other devices use rectangular or square plugs that block access to at least another plug. You can use extension cords to make it work, but it does not look as clean that way. With so many of our devices in our home’s dependent on internet connection, I feel it’s very important to keep the devices that provide that connectivity powered up in the event of a power loss. I don’t really think this unit is designed for a PC since it does not have the PowerChute software to tell the PC to power off gracefully and this will keep those other devices up for a much longer period of time. Also, it does not have a user replaceable battery and after the battery expires you will have to purchase a new unit. That is something I miss of the old models as well. Be sure to register it so you can extend the warranty period out to 3 years. Pros: Cost Runtime for networking equipment 3 year warranty Easy to use and set up USB 2.1A charging port Cons: non-user replaceable battery orientation of the plugs limits use No management software for PC to shut down

I work on large spreadsheets for work as well as 3D models for my personal CNC business. I try to hit the save button as much as possible but occasionally forget. There's been a few time a UPC saved me from looking so much editing. Especially now with the pending California rolling black outs.Got the APC Back UPS 900VA for my home and save me just in case of rolling black out. Out of the box you're getting 900VA battery back up itself. nothing much. The Battery Back up has 6 battery backed up outlets and 3 surge protected outlets, 9 total. The 900VA is easy to use, nothing not difficult to understand. I made sure to follow the instructions of plugging in the battery backup to an AC power outlet for 8.5 hours. To test if the battery backup was working I plugged in my computer, monitor, external HD, the pure essentials, then unplugged the battery. To emulate a regular work day made a 3D model, brought up several spreadsheets and started transferring a about 141GB of photos and videos from my recent trip. I was able to get 32 mins of battery back up time before the 2 minute warning alarm came up. Obviously, your time will very with different computer and devices but this gave me enough time to be able to save my work and file before the computer would need to be shut off. I did have trouble when I plugged in laser printer into the battery backuped outlet and it went through it's warm up routine. It overloaded the battery backup so beware and make sure you only plug in the true essentials. Conclusion, I would highly recommend this product if you're working from home especially if you have work sensitive material.

Keep the WiFi running during power surges!

I’ve been a longtime fan of having our internet connection plugged in to a battery backup unit for a while now. Recently, our smaller 650VA failed when we needed it, during what has been a pretty disruptive summer storm season w/ power flickering/outages in the southeast. Now that we have our highschool aged children home during this challenging time, it's great to know we have a reliable brand backing up our most critical network, smarthome & security devices in case a storm passes through. Our fiber ONT, Router, Switches, Main Wifi AP, Hue, & Nest Cams are all able to run off this unit for 10mins, uninterrupted - when pulling the plug to test. It probably could have gone longer, but that is good enough for me. Important to note - these wear much fast if you overload them. A gaming PC with a 2080ti is EASILY enough to overpower a unit this small, so use it appropriately. I like that the cord on the unit is solid and a decent length too. So far, so good - having only used it a few weeks.

Protects my devices and keeps me online during intermittent and prolonged outages. Nothing is more frustrating than losing the file I am working on when a storm passes over the area. I install my UPS to ride the tide during the vent be it a few moments or a few hours. Here are a few features that make this a great UPS for my home internet an computers: * Long 5-foot cord with a wall hugging plug. * Six (6) battery backed up outlets, three (3) each for regular cord plug and three *(3) for transformer cubes. * Three extra that are surge protected * 3-year warranty * quickly recharges in 8-hours * indicator light if the outlet you plug it into is miss-wired ( I've seen it in an office setting) * meets California energy code * uncomplicated, just plug it in and use. * beefy 2.1 amp USB charging port when all you might want is to recharge you cell phone a few times during the outage. Super simple to engage the battery. Just flip the unit over and pop the attached yellow shunt into the connector plug. DONE!

This UPS is actually lighter and more compact than you would expect for a 900VA unit. The 5 foot power cord provides a little extra length than most power strips. The cord also has a flat plug, which is a nice bonus, as flat plugs take up less room, and holds tighter in outlets, than the traditional bulky straight plugs.Three out of the six back up outlets have block spacing, for those bulky sized plugs. There are 9 total outlets, 6 battery back up outlets (with uninterrupted power)  and 3 surge only outlets for unimportant devices that you don't want to drain the battery during an outage Before your first battery usage, the UPS should be charged for 24hours straight, after that it only takes 8 hours to fully charge the batteries. The batteries are hot swappable, which means you can replace them without having to interrupt your power supply to the connected devices. APC provides a 3 year warranty on this UPS, and $75,000 for connected equipment damages. APC understands that you might have different uses for this UPS so it offers adjustable voltage for different power sources like utility wall currents or generator currents. There is even a separate LED that lights up red to indicate a problem with the connected power source, like an ungrounded connection.  LED and Audible status alarms can be set for your desired notification method. The UPS is by default set to silent mode, meaning that during an outage, it will rely on the LEDs to indicate the battery status, and will only sound 2 beeps 30 seconds before the battery gives out. The UPS can also be set to audio alerts , which is helpful if the UPS is hidden under a desk or behind other objects. To set the UPS to audio alerts, while the device is plugged in and on, hold the power button down until you hear 3 beeps. At the third beep, release the button, then press it again (do not hold it down) until the power button light turns to "amber".  Now the UPS will beep 4 times every 30 seconds until the battery is almost depleted (1 minute left), then it will beep once every four seconds.APC's website has a graph that shows the power runtime graph, which seems to be pretty accurate. I plugged a PS4 slim, 32" HDTV, and usb fan into the UPS, it was able to keep all these devices running for 30 minutes. See the attached image of the graph, or visit APC's web page for this UPS, and enter the wattage using to estimate your back up run time. This UPS definitely provides enough backup power for most all types of devices to finish your game, or PC jobs , save your data , and shut down properly.

I bought this backup to protect my computer and monitor from a surge. I have an older APC backup and the difference is that this new backup is taller and thinner in sharp. It takes up less room under my desk because it is much thinner. It has 9 outlets with 3 surge protector slots. My last APC surge protector lasted 11 years before the need to replace the battery, I also had no problems with multiple blackouts in the past, a problem that is very frequent in Florida.
