I bought this to replace my iPad Air 2 which suffered a fatal drop onto concrete. That device had served me well for four years, but it was time to lay it to rest. So let's just get right to it.
What I like
-Before you even turn it on this thing makes a pretty good first impression with its aesthetics. No more curved back, no more home button, very small and uniform bezels, sharp edges all around. The camera sticks out a bit which isn't exactly ideal, but since it's going to live in a case that wont bother me. It looks and feels very nice and expensive, and well...it is.
-The next strongest point of this device is the screen. It's very bright, and covers almost the whole thing aside from the thin bezels around the edges. It can be seen pretty well in direct sunlight, and I really like how the display feels like it's right up against the glass, like you are touching it directly.
-The biggest change is FaceID and it really makes using an iPad more fluid. With my Air 2 whenever I unlocked it, used a saved password to sign into a website, installed an app...those are all times where I had to move my finger off the screen and down to the home button. Now authenticating is completely hands off, just wait a fraction of a second for it to scan your face and you're in. Thankfully, unlike on the new iPhones, it works in any orientation. Even upside down. It also uses gestures to navigate now, which once you get used to them are way faster than using a home button.
-It's fast. iPads are very overpowered compared to most tablets, and this one is no different. There is zero lag. Everything just flies. The screen refresh rate is 120hz now which really makes it seem like you are smoothly manipulating physical objects rather than interacting with a screen.
-There are a few other minor things. There are four speakers now, and they are far beyond the ones on my Air 2. The camera is very good. This thing is actually capable of taking 4K video at 60FPS. That is insane for a tablet. Apple finally included an 18 watt charger this time which charges it quite fast. Also the addition of USB type C is nice. Well, sort of.
Now for what I don't like:
-It's very slippery and fragile. Nothing new for iPads, but this very expensive machine is defenseless by itself and pretty much requires a case. Do not drop it!
-Probably the iPad Pro's biggest weakness is that it's shackled to iOS. iOS is a very fast and smooth OS and it really makes sense on portable touch devices, but I can't help feel like this thing could do a lot more. I mean they threw a USB C port on it, but what can you do with it? You can't use a mouse and keyboard, you STILL can't use external storage. I can't even view and edit files on a memory card without transferring them to the tablet first, come on Apple. Imagine if you could just drop this thing into a dock and have a desktop-like experience. Apple says tablets are the future of computing, well...we're waiting.
In summary, this tablet is certainly a worthy successor to my Air 2. It's beautiful, fast, and a joy to use. If you need to replace your iPad then you cannot go wrong with this one. If you don't have a tablet yet, this is the best one you can buy period. I can say with confidence that, like all Apple products, it will be updated long into the future and will only get better as time goes on. I just hope Apple will unleash its true potential.

I ordered it on 19th of December and received package in very protected and original packaging. I was so excited and it is a great product itself but the reason for 3 star is within the original packing I found my iPad has some minor scratches on back and top and bottom corner, feels like they sent me the displayed product. So unhappy and sad about their shipment. Since I ordered a brand new but they kind of sent me open box looks like an iPad. I hope best buy will give me an open box credit for this fault.

This is replacement for my earlier version iPad Pro. My earlier iPad Pro had a bent (Many google posts on this). Before settling for iPad Pro 11 inch version I decided to give a try with laptop or 2-1
First got Microsoft Surface Pro 6. Excellent machine. It’s not as portable this iPad Pro. Not easy to keep in your lap with the stand. This iPad Pro has edge when it comes to portability, but surface had little more laptop capabilities. For my day to day use I don’t need those features.
Secondly I tried the Surface Laptop 2. Great laptop, very good battery life. Again it’s my bad going with laptop and I can’t expect iPad portability. One thing which I didn’t like is the 4:3 ratio. I am more used to the 16:9 format.
Third went back to Apple ecosystem with 13 inch MacBook Pro 2017 version. Got at good deal almost cost of my 256 GB iPad Pro LTE version. Compared to the above two Microsoft products it’s okay with the portability factor. Unfortunately I experienced loud fan noise, and my machine getting very hot. I used to have only one browser opened and all other apps closed. Still experienced very often loud fan noise and heating issue.
So finally thought of trying back iPad Pro. Decided to settle with the 11 inch for my usage style. It’s 24 hours since I had my iPad but the overall experience with my iPad is great. It will work for most average users like me to browse, you tube, Netflix, and music for 80% of the time. I am not going to do professional video editing. I can sign a pdf document and email it back easily without any issue. Apple supplied office tools more than sufficient for my use.
Hence I can clearly say this is close enough to be called as laptop replacement for most daily driver activities fir an average users like me. I haven’t experienced any fan noise or heat issue that I experienced with my MacBook Pro.

This iPad is great. The speed, screen quality, and Face ID make this a far superior machine to the previous generations. I went with the 11 because the 12.9 is just too much trade off of size and weight. But the quality of the screen and the almost bezel less design give you a way better and bigger experience compared to basically the same size package you get from previous iPads. The original promise of the iPad being a laptop replacement is now finally just about there with this model. Thank you Apple

This year’s iPads feature the most significant change in Apple’s tablet design since their creation, dropping the Home button and pinching the curved corners from the iPhone X and iPhone 11 series.
This is a much bigger deal than it seems at first because it’s made the footprint of the 11-inch model dramatically smaller, cutting the chunky area at the top and bottom.
The 6mm thickness and lightweight also help make it easy to handle. Compared to a 13-inch laptop, it’s so breezy to carry or pull out and use – it doesn’t feel like a hassle to grab it and open a file.
One part about the design that surprised us was the flat sides, which are more reminiscent of the iPhone 5 than the front’s mimicking of the X. It’s not a bad thing, and it’s almost certainly been done to accommodate the far superior way the Apple Pencil works now, but it’s a weird mix of Apple design past and present.
The second-generation Pencil now magnetically attaches to one side of the iPad and wirelessly charges while it’s there. It’s impossible to overstate how much of an improvement this is, for so many reasons.

The 2018 iPad Pro 11 is an excellent tablet computer. A snappy processor even by 2020’s standards and with its newer counterpart only delivering nominal gains, the 2018 Pro discounted is a great deal! Money saved over the incoming model allowed me to budget for a cellular-enabled SKU with more hard drive space.
I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. The screen, the improved Apple Pencil 2 and the convenience of Face ID over touch for tablet computing are all significant considerations made over the lower cost tablets.
Prior to this I have used my wife’s iPad Air 2, a mini-retina and had/have the 6th gen iPad w/ the Apple Pencil Gen 1. Moving to this one was a significant cost increase over what we have spent for tablets historically, but it’s very high quality and very convenient if you use a stylus and primarily, the native Apple Pencil 2.
Certain apps I use for work load way faster and run more reliably. I don’t have to go looking for the pencil and my heart skip a beat if I don’t see it right away because it sticks to the side pretty well where it also charges when it needs to.
Also, I think tablets used in the professional setting are well served by the cellular enabled option. You can hot spot, but when you’re on the road it’s nice not to have to drain your phone’s battery linking to the internet and it’s just way faster with less interruptions, especially when meeting with clients or visiting places where you don’t necessarily want to hook up to public Wifi networks. Many plans offer low cost prepaid data or allow you to connect to your already existing plan’s data pool.
Is it worth an equivalently spec’d laptop? For Sales people, creatives, business operations, etc. it’s very compelling. There are fewer applications I spend time on from the computer but I feel it still necessary at times. You can get by with a cheaper, more entry-level setup, but there are compromises (mostly in the Apple Pencil and Biometric verification departments.) But for work in the field and especially creative production, I feel like this thing is indispensable. It’s truly a Pro-level device. It’s highly portable, blazing fast, has cameras and audio recording and playback capabilities built In, directly. The speakers are also very good by tablet-standards.
It’s the highest quality portable computing device I’ve experienced on the market with excellent build quality, a pedigree of lasting a good number of years with continued updates and support. I highly recommend, and especially at a discount now that newer models are out and production on these has ceased.

I love my new iPad Pro. I upgraded from a much older model and the difference is AMAZING. Fast, great display and long long battery life!
This model is actually lighter than the smaller iPad Pro I had! The split screen options are great and when the next IOS comes out in September, mouse options will really help make this into a better tablet.

Terrific iPad. This is the 2nd pro I’ve had and I especially like the new pencil that magnetizes to the iPad and charges while it’s connected. The pencil never runs out of charge as the initial one did. I also like the new 11” version with facial recognition as it provides a larger screen since there is no home button and the borders have been severely limited. Not having a home button took a little getting used to but after a few days it was a non issue.

As a long term Ipad user, this version shows noticeable improvements such as processing speed, screen resolution, and multitasking options. Facial recognition works fine and I don't miss the button. While it is easy to transfer over your settings from the previous Ipad via Bluetooth, I am running into a problem moving over songs, videos, and apps despite using backup process. Heading to the apple store to resolve. Moving to the new usb C standard causes issues with other devices, you will have to keep differing cords around to support the older USB as I have an older iPhone and still want to use the older Ipad.

This is my 3rd iPad and it is clearly the best. It is only slightly larger than my iPad Air but the actual screen size seems huge. I thought I had to have a Home button, but after a little use, I don’t miss it at all. I love the facial recognition feature—the thumb recognition feature on my previous iPad never worked reliably. It is fast and the 256GB memory is perfect. I love my new iPad!

So much faster than our old iPad. Was able to add our cellular carrier this time because we had been using only wi-fi after changing carriers. Some getting used to no control button but overcame that in a short time. Color is beautiful and pictures are very high end. We opted for the cover with the keyboard but you can fold that back and use on-screen keyboard if you like that better.

Great! The screen is beautiful, it is crazy fast, and the apps are excellent. Since I store my files on iCloud, integration is seemless: documents that I annotate appear on my computer within seconds after changing them. So it is not a laptop replacement for me, but I used it almost as much as I use my laptop.
