Once I heard that apple made a smaller iPad Pro I knew I needed to check it out. I am an industrial design student and I wanted a tablet I could use for my sketches and rendering. It's a great tablet with the Apple Pencil and I love the smaller size. Very easy to carry around and use on the go. Very fast and versatile. Would definitely recomend a matte screen protector.

i am really enjoying my ipad pro 9.7. For me the size is perfect. The speakers really sound terrific. I watch lots of movies and do listen to some music and all sound great. The camera takes great pictures and the screen color! I can't say anything bad about this Ipad. Mine is the 128 so it has plenty of memory storage for my needs ...plus the price right now is reasonable for such a device. I have not downloaded ios 11 so I cannot comment on that.

    Worthwhile upgrade from an iPad2

Not yet ready to give up my MacBook Pro, so initially was difficult justification to spend the money for a 128GB iPad Pro 9.7 to replace my old 64GB iPad2, but now very pleased that I did. The speed when browsing the web, updating apps, loading apps, etc. makes that old iPad2 seem a relic by comparison. Small font text is amazingly crisp, and the less reflective display is great. I've used Split View to work with two apps simultaneously, and find it to be easily accessed, practical, useful. Four speaker system sounds good. Weight and size feels good when handling (in Apple's $69 silicone case accessory). Hoping that available apps will continue to mature in future (e.g., MS Office for iOS include more features available in laptop OS versions). If you want an iPad Pro 9.7 and can afford it, I feel it is a good purchase.

I am not particularly a fanboy of Apple and their products so this is a very unbiased review. I bought the Rose Gold model as a gift for my mom (when it was on sale a couple of months ago) and she absolutely loved it. It was far far better than her previous Ipad 2 tablet. As many have already mentioned, its a quality tablet: amazing display, fast processor, beautiful color, great battery life, very light and easy to use. There is nothing that really disappoints (apart from its slightly expensive pricing , which I highly recommend you purchasing only when it is on sale). Apple's major competitor Microsoft, has been keeping toe to toe with them in all departments. Their Surface line of tablets are quite impressive ( I myself own a Surface 3) with similar price points. The only advantage I see getting a Surface over the Ipad would be if you want the full Windows 10 experience, as it pretty much is a full fledged PC and can run all desktop applications and software. Apple definitely has much more App support and most people own other Apple products so its easy to sync or upgrade from older Apple products. There are also many more Apple Stores around, in case you need to get it serviced. All in all, a great buy, highly recommended! My advice is to purchase the Apple care extended service, as it will save you a lot in case of any mishaps down the years.

Being an owner of the iPad Air 2 I wondered if it was worth it to upgrade. The answer is a resounding yes., The ability to use a pen on the screen is very helpful. Also, having the option to attach a keyboard that doesn't require Bluetooth is very convenient. The speed of the chip is also very fast. I'm actually typing this review on the Pro. It may not replace your PC but for those who do casual web surfing, editing word documents, browsing photo albums, checking and replying to e-mails, iMessage, answering phone calls, etc,, then this is the one for you. The screen is incredible and battery life is pretty good. Again, the processor is very fast and the RAM amount is more than enough for daily needs. It's very light and portable and if you do not need the 12.9 inch sized version then this will suffice over and over.

Replaced an ipad mini 2 with ipad pro 9.7. Pros i noticed in my few days of usage: 1. its blazing fast, thanks to the A9 chipset. 2. Screen even though glossy, is noticeably less reflective than any of the other ipad models. 3. Camera a 12mp shooter is pretty much in 6s territory. great shooter. 4. Battery life is great, get about 11-12 hrs of usage (mix of watching video, browsing and other stuff) on a full charge. 5. Great speakers, 4 of them and with a hint of bass. Changes acoustics based on the way the ipad is held (vertical or horizontal) 6. Smart connector for keyboards. Not sure what are the other use cases for the connector; but seems like peripherals dont require another power source if it can connect using smart connector. Cons: 1. Only 2GB RAM, wish it had more like the 12.9 inch pro. 2. Camera optics does not sit flush with the body, not a big deal but feels like a handicap. 3. Doesnt come with the fast charger like the 12.9 inch pro. 4. Design pretty much that of an ipad air 2 i would recommend an older ipad users to upgrade, but if you are currently using an ipad air 2, i would say wait for the next iteration.

This is one of the lightest tablets I have owned. It is very fast and the picture is extremely clear. Although the smaller size, the screen is perfect for anything you want to do or see. The pink rose color is gorgeous.

LOVING MY NEW iPAD 9.7 PRO!!!!!!!!

My last iPad was the third generation and that was 4 years ago. Now it has gotten old and slow. So, two months ago I started to look at new devices. Surprise! My husband bought me the 12.9" iPad Pro. Very nice device but BIG!!!! So hubby took over the new IPad and I waited until the latest iPad Pro 9.7" was released. The 9.7" Pro is a bit narrower than the old iPads but has the same sized screen. Unless you have really big hands and long fingers the 12.9" Pro is unwieldy to hold as a tablet and to type. Also, the 9.7" Pro is much lighter weight than the older models full sized iPads and the same weight as the iPad Air. The graphics are exceptional as is the upgraded 12MP camera. It will not take the place of a DSLR camera for the camera buff but for me, who loves to take pictures of family, pets, and items to list on eBay, it is awesome. There is another feature that the camera does which is called a "live" shot. It is not a video but a mini snipit of about three seconds. This feature literally brings a picture to life. You hold your finger on the shot and it comes alive. It is the difference between taking a picture of a child as they blow out that first candle on their cake and actually seeing the child blowing it out. Amazing! As an long time iPad user I knew that I would need at least the 128GB for my apps, updates, pictures and music. Even though we subscribe to a 200GB iCloud storage plan it is amazing how quickly all that data takes up space. It would be a real shame to buy a device and skimp on something so basic. My first iPad did not have cellular and that was a big mistake for me, personally. Public wi-if is not secure so I was limited to take a risk and use it or go without. It was a real bummer when we lost power!!!!! Most cellular plans will let you hook up to 10 devices for $10 dollars each a month. This is a small price to pay to always be connected and to have your identity protected. Will this take the place of a desktop or laptop? For me it does 99 percent of the time. It is perfect for social networking, skyping, uploading pictures, writing documents and printing them off of a wireless printer and, of course, on-line shopping. If I was still in grad school or running a business then I would probably need a laptop or desktop. As with all Apple products they are intuitive. The set up is a breeze and if you have an issue the Apple support team is just a phone call away. I am loving my new iPad 9.7 Pro and I know you will, too!

I upgraded from an iPad Air 2 64GB to this iPad 9.7 pro 128GB and noticed a substantial improvement in speed/response. The screen is amazing - photo colors pop out! Also the camera now has a built-in flash and capability to record in 4K. This too is a major enhancement. The only issue I have had so far with it is when is died suddenly and could not be turned on. I had to reboot the ipad by pressing the home + Power button for 10+ seconds till the apple logo showed up on the screen and from then on, it was back to normal. This happened only once. Not a big issue for me.

Great tablet would buy again. I bought the 128GB with WiFi only. The size was plenty for me and didn't need cellular since WiFi is everywhere these days. Very satisfied with purchase and Best Buy sales, service and support. There is a newer version that replaced this one which is the iPad Pro 10.5.

So I had been using a 4th generation iPad with Retina (IPWR). Always liked that one but with the release of iOS 10 I felt the aging of the hardware. I even had to downgrade to iOS 9 to restore responsiveness. I had been wanting to upgrade to a more current model but this really helped to motivate me to upgrade to the iPad Pro (IPP). The benefits are below. Size: Overall size is significantly reduced. Yet the actual screen size is larger. It’s 1/10th inch shorter but nearly an inch less wide, primarily due to a reduced bezel size. It’s also about 1/5 lb lighter. Display: The wide color display doesn’t not present a significant improvement for my purposes, but it is still Retina resolution so everything from web pages to photos are always crisp and beautiful. Text is clear and easy to read. Where the retina really shows it’s beauty is when I compared it to my mom’s 2nd gen iPad. Makes that one look downright nasty. Performance: As compared with my previous, the increase in processing is very noticeable. With iOS 10 my IPWR was bogged down. Typing in text to a web form or other application would result in long delays between tapping the letter and it actually appearing. No delay at all on the IPP. There is also significant improvement in the responsiveness of games, rendering of web pages and all other functions. Audio: Okay, you’re only going to be able to do so much when the form factor is this small. But the IPP’s four speakers create much better sound with a noticeably wider range. Low end sounds are most noticeable. And yes, Virginia, it still has a headphone jack. Especially important when I’m a passenger in a vehicle and want to listen to my vast music library. Cameras: Wow! I’m still amazed that the 9.7” IPP has a better camera than it’s big brother the 12.9”. The improvements of True Tone flash and noise reduction make for much better photos that my IWR. Face detection is near flawless. The front facing camera is a huge upgrade as well. 5MP on the IPP which is much greater that the 1.2MP of the IWR or even the 12.9” IPP. The Retina Flash feature does help a lot with low-light, close shots and selfies. But don’t be unrealistic and expect it to fill in the background with brightness. Wi-FI: This unit shines here. Whether I connect to my Airport Express Time Capsule or the WiFi supplied by my AT&T router, the signal is strong and fast. TouchID: Ah…..perhaps the most welcome addition of upgrading. I did have to make two attempts to get my prints fully registered. But once setup, it’s working flawlessly. I can touch it from multiple angles and orientations and it recognizes my print every time. It’s so nice to be able to unlock my device with such ease and reliability. I’ve been missing this on my IWR ever since my first experience with it on my iPhone 6. It’s also nice when developers utilize this feature as well. I no longer have to enter my credentials every time I launch the App Store, my AT&T app or my banking app. Other items to note: The improved motion sensors, accelerometer and the addition of the barometer make other apps more reliable and responsive. iOS 10 features like split screen and swipe over and Siri are very helpful to me too. I opted for the 128GB model and having the extra storage really pays off for me. My iCloud photo library is over 30GB and music about 25GB. And I don’t even keep all of my music on it, by choice. For me, the only negative aspect is the battery. I would happily trade the thinner case for more battery life. It’s not at all bad, but IMO you can never have too much battery. :)

This 9.7 inch iPadPro is the perfect size for me. And the display is absolutely awesome. Bought the 128gb model, and have plenty of room for all of my music, photos, and apps. I didn't think I would need the 4 speakers, but they are pretty awesome too. I bought this to be able to use at home, and to put my work calendar, contacts, notes, and emails on. Plus I wanted to be able to take it to meetings to take notes too, so I bought the Smart Keyboard too - it's just the right size for carrying around, and the keyboard makes a great cover too. (I'm writing this review from it using the Smart Keyboard!)

I upgraded from the iPad retina (first generation) to the 9.7" iPad Pro. And there's a world of improvement! The speed, clarity, sound, available apps, and size have made this my go-to device. I don't think it'll replace my MacBook, but it's nearly a suitable replacement. (As it should be...given the price.) The original iPad Pro was simply too large to be used as a tablet. The 9.7" is a good size and also works as a dual screen for my MacBook with the Duet app (see App Store for more info). I typically use mine for writing, graphic design, Evernote, task-management, audio books, presentations, blogging, etc. I occasionally use it for entertainment.

This purchase was a replacement for the older Retina model which was getting slow. The new screen is amazingly good and color are better than the retina. The 9.7 inch is just about right size to carry in a purse and its lighter and thinner, giving it less weight and easy to fit. The speed is faster, but time will tell if this truly will stand extended time and changes in the OS. The set up was a breeze and with the pen, it is excellent. Still have some incompatibility with the common "DOS" type of files and app and so not used widely in office application. Overall, a good device.

Love the new iPad and how quickly it arrived. The machine, at 2.2 GHz, really flies. The features are too numerous to include in a review. If you plan on getting one of these for Christmas, stick to the 128 GB or 256 GB models.

I purchased this for my daughter to replace an iPad 2 which will be obsolete for many apps around October later this year according to multiple outlets. They will be releasing a new IOS and when they do many apps will update leaving the iPad 2 behind similar to what happened to the original iPad a couple of years ago. While my previous iPad had 64GB, i went with the 128GB option as programs will only continue to get larger and take up more space. My previous iPad 2 has served us well for 5 years and I'm hoping this one will serve just as long into the future. A few notes, this iPad Pro has a retina display which is very vibrant, and also is compatible with the Apple Pen (name?).

Traded in my 64GB iPad Air 2 (with 2 speakers); got this 128GB iPad Pro 9.7 (with 4 speakers) and $250 price drop; I LOVE iPad; LOVE this one for the 4 speakers (amazing sound); more storage (needed it), faster speed and the usual beautiful HD display; bought this one to use for my daily long bus rides to/from work. I got great price deal. I'm not using it for drawing/artistic reason; I just love the better speakers/sound quality & additional storage and other reasons already mentioned.
