Just got the new MacBook Pro 14" from Best Buy - it's got the M3 Pro chip, 18-core GPU, 18GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD. It's in Space Black, looks super sleek. Honestly, it's fantastic for work and a beast for photo and video editing.
Performance is lightning fast - multitasking is a breeze, and apps just fly. The graphics are killer, especially for editing; everything looks crisp and vibrant. Plus, with 1TB of storage, I've got tons of space for all my projects, and the SSD speed is a real time-saver.
It's surprisingly portable for such a powerhouse, and the battery life is solid - gets me through a full day's work, no problem. The display is top-notch, really makes my photos and videos pop. And typing on this thing? Super comfy, and the trackpad is really responsive.
In short, it's a bit of an investment, but totally worth it for the performance and features. Perfect for anyone in creative work or who just wants a really powerful laptop.

I haven't had a new computer for almost 8 years.. so it was time.
I went with the 14" MacBook Pro with M3 pro chip, 18GB of RAM, and 1TB of SSD in the Space Black.
I went back and forth between the 14" and 16". I went with the 14" because of the weight and size. being able to pick it up and use it on the go or lay on the couch and use it in your lap makes the overall experience more comfortable.
The new M3 processors and the option to have 18GB of RAM with 1TB of storage make this machine future proof.
Everything from the unboxing to setting up hot keys and features. These Apple products are a ton of fun to make your own. It is a bit of investment but you get what you pay for and this is worth it for so many reasons! I can go on and on... GET ONE.

This is my fourth MacBook Pro and I have used the heck out of all of them. In fact I still use all of them going back decades. They work fine, the only limitation is that the OS cannot be updated enough to be used with modern programs. In fact I have one I have kept in Snow Leopard to be able to use Final Cut Pro7 with the wonderful options it had. Solid machines all. Batteries wear out eventually, but the bones are great. This new one is by far the best - faster than a speeding bullet. I've been importing video files and I am amazed at how quickly they are transferred. I have not started crunching the compression of new videos yet, but I have no doubt that this machine will be faster than anything else. I had been wanting to move up to a new MBP for some time but I resented needing dongles for everything - finally we are back to a set of the most useful connecters built in. I find the fingerprint ID very useful. Safari is solid and glitch-free so far. More than anything, the battery life is making my life easier. I have not had it long, but everything I have experienced so far is beyond my expectations. I plan to work with this daily for a very long time.

After M1 Pro, a surprising upgrade

First, thanks to Best Buy for a great price match during the holidays!
This is my first 14 inch MBP after using the 16 inch M1 Pro the last few years. LOVE the space black, but wasn't sure M3 Pro would be an "upgrade"--but THIS 1tb model with the "top" unbinned M3 Pro chip is. It has 1 more performance core and 4 more GPU cores than the base 512 gb M3 Pro. This model is a great value when it's on sale with the better performance and more storage.
Compared to M1 Pro, websites and apps launch substantially faster and my logic pro projects run smoother with less clicks & pops. Not that M1 Pro was bad at all, but M3 Pro is just--better.
Really needed a smaller form factor and appreciate the portability and power of this machine. Battery life is good, and low power mode can extend it without creating much lag.
Downsides of course are the adjustment to a 14 inch screen. While I'm impressed with what the 14 inch screen can fit (better than a 13 inch Air), it's still a bit cramped after being used to the 16 inch (naturally).
Overall, I would recommend this specific model when it's on sale. Don't pay the apple upgrade costs and be patient when you can snag this on sale -- it's the sweet spot for value/portability.

Using the MacBook Pro 14” with the M3 Pro chip feels like a major step up in power and efficiency. The 18-core GPU handles graphics-intensive tasks seamlessly, making demanding projects like video editing or digital illustration feel fluid and responsive. With 18GB of memory, heavy multitasking is a breeze—keeping multiple apps open is smooth and lag-free. The 1TB SSD is incredibly fast, speeding up everything from app launches to file transfers. Battery life holds up all day, even under intensive use, and heat management is superb. Fans only kick in occasionally, and even then, they’re quiet, keeping the laptop cool and comfortable. The new Space Black finish adds a sophisticated and modern touch.

Amazing work machine! Primarily using it for data science applications to big data. Fully satisfied with the performance. Opting for 1TB storage turned out to be a good decision. I switched from DELL XPS 9500 (32GB) due to frequent blue screen error. So far so good!

I was composing a rave review for my new MacBook Pro M3 Pro (18GB/512GB/11 cores) last night when I realized I needed to address an issue with the sound quality. Despite arriving only yesterday, my laptop’s speakers appear to be defective.
The laptop came via UPS and was exposed to freezing temperatures overnight due to a cold front, although my area typically has a moderate climate. After letting it warm up to room temperature and charging it, I noticed a significant dip in battery life from 100% to 57% due to the cold exposure during transit. While this didn't initially concern me, I was dismayed to discover severe distortion in the midrange frequencies when I tested the sound with Apple Music. The distortion was apparent even at moderate volume levels, suggesting the speakers might have been damaged.
In my attempt to troubleshoot, I found several key insights:
1. **Speaker Break-In**: It's known that speakers often need a break-in period at mid-level volumes to prevent damage and achieve optimal sound. However, even after playing music for several hours, the distortion persisted.
2. **Fragility of MacBook Speakers**: MacBook speakers are prone to damage, and even if they sound good initially, they can deteriorate if handled improperly. There are even DIY videos on how to repair them if they fail after the warranty period.
3. **Performance Cores in the M3 Pro**: Contrary to the M1 and M2 models, the M3 Pro with 11 cores has fewer performance cores. Specifically, the M3 Pro has 5 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores, compared to the M1 Pro’s 8 performance cores and 2 efficiency cores, and the M2 Pro’s 6 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. This change might impact performance in tasks that rely heavily on performance cores, such as music production.
Aside from the sound issues, I encountered a few operational glitches: I can't use the “Share” feature to email or message from Safari, as these options are disabled in System Settings. Additionally, Apple's “Stocks” app crashed while running in the background despite no other third-party apps being active.
Overall, the MacBook Pro M3 Pro represents a significant power and speed upgrade from my M1 iMac and iPad Air 5th gen. However, I advise against opting for any "Pro" version with less than 18GB RAM or 512GB SSD. For general use, a MacBook Air M2 might be a more suitable choice. While I appreciate the new Space Black color, I wish there was a Midnight (dark blue) option.
For better sound quality, I recommend using Apple HomePod Minis. Although they don’t support Bluetooth, they connect via AirPlay to Macs and the Amazon Music app. One of these tiny speakers offers superior sound compared to the MacBook’s built-in speakers and is also better than other home speaker options. Additionally, adjusting the Apple Music app’s equalizer settings can enhance sound quality and volume. For most songs, settings like “Lounge” or “R&B” work well, improving both clarity and loudness.

Purchased it in April last year and its been an absolutely fantastic first macbook experience. I've always and will forever have windows tower for gaming but I finally pulled the trigger on an "over priced apple product" and man, no windows laptop even compares to the smoothness, battery life and insane optimization for the lower amount of specs. The build quality is literally the best, it feels insanely solid, premium materials, paired with the excellence that is expected of apple? This definitely not going to be my last macbook pro and I know for a fact that the video / photo editing im doing is nowhere near utilizing even 60% of this power house (see specs I chose). Last but not least with this specific model being $2600 w/ tax brand new, I got it from best buy as an "excellent" open box option for less than $2050 otd is a great price considering the person who bought it brand new returned it only after 3 days of use with one ( 1 ) power cycle on record - is a great deal! Apple literally never has discounts, sure you can purchase Apple products refurb from their site but no idea how long those we're used until you get the unit and check the amount of power cycles.

Absolutely love my new MacBook! I consider myself fairly tech-savvy, but what I always appreciate about Apple products is that they just work right out of the box with minimal setup and little fuss. With just a few clicks the transfer assistant had my data from my old MacBook migrated over with ease.
This was a big upgrade for me since I was coming from a late 2019 Intel MacBook Pro with only 8GB of RAM. I tend to use a lot of tabs in Safari and Chrome, while simultaneously working in multiple real-time trading apps. While my previous laptop would begrudgingly (slowly) support that workflow, it was increasingly obvious that 8GB of RAM wasn't sufficient for my needs. So after much thought and research I opted for the base M3 Pro chip over the upgraded chip M3 Pro and went with a model with 18 GB of RAM instead, and I couldn't be happier!
I look forward to really unlocking the performance of this new M3 Pro MacBook Pro as time goes on.
And the space black color is gorgeous!

way to over powered for what I need but I plan on using it for several years to come and don't have any doubt it will perform beyond expectations for the life of the machine with annual updates from for at least 5-6 years min. Every task I throw at it is lightening fast and haven't ran into a single instance of having wait for it to catch up, even with light photo editing and video work in Final Cut.

You definitely have to cough up some money but this has been the best purchase I’ve ever made. The integration of the MacBook and my iPhone 14 is absolutely seamless. The information or pics I take on my phone is instantly transferred to my Mac and I am able to access my files from the Mac too and my productivity has sky rocketed from this seamless interface. ALSO, the battery life on this thing is absolutely insane, it’s SO good. If I fully charge it one, this thing can pull through for me for three-four days
