Excellent powerful machine or rather say beast.. Updated to this base M4 Max 16” 48gb 1tb on Black Friday for my old Intel i9 based 2018 MacBook Pro 15”... What an update, mind blowing! The fans use to spin up a lot with work load’s especially on my old intel based MacBook Pro but this M4 Max with like 50 chrome tabs and another 50 safari tabs open + heavy applications like Docker desktop, IntelliJ, GitHub Desktop (I’m a programmer/software developer) & many other applications (like mail app, music app, heavy user of Apple Notes App and many more apps) running barely spins the fans and Memory Pressure is bare minimum.. Just superb & amazing to see and work/code on it! For programmers this is a fantastic machine or rather say beast! Wouldn’t need another Mac for like easy 5+ years…. Worth every penny! Battery also is excellent, will easily last 1.5 to 2 full days once 100% charged for all your daily activities & even heavy coding…Also watching movies on this 120Hz pro motion display is phenomenal! If you are a Best Buy member, will get excellent discounts price for members & early Black Friday Deals.. Wait for the right time & Just go for it!

I recently purchased the MacBook Pro with the M4 Max chip from Best Buy, and the entire process was seamless. I was thrilled to get the laptop on the same day, and it has been an absolute game-changer for my workflow over the past few weeks.
As a software developer working on machine learning (ML) projects, I needed a machine that could handle demanding tasks effortlessly. This MacBook Pro exceeded my expectations. Running open-source ML models like Llama and others locally has been a breeze, thanks to its outstanding performance. The M4 Max chip delivers unparalleled speed and efficiency, making multitasking feel incredibly smooth.
The battery life is another highlight—it lasts for hours, even under heavy workloads. This has been a lifesaver during my long coding sessions and when I’m on the go. Additionally, the display is phenomenal. The brightness remains impressive even in outdoor settings, ensuring a crystal-clear viewing experience regardless of the environment.
I’m still exploring all the possibilities this powerhouse has to offer, but one thing is clear: the MacBook Pro with the M4 Max chip is a beast of a machine, perfect for anyone tackling resource-intensive tasks. Whether you’re into software development, ML, or any other heavy work, this laptop is worth every penny.

I upgraded from the 14" Pro Max M2 because I'm now doing cross-platform software development and I wanted the bigger screen, even though I travel a lot. I can develop and can test my stuff in native MacOS, and VM Windows and Linux all on the same machine using Parallels. It handles anything I throw at it with incredible speed. As possibly a gauge of the efficiency of this machine, I can leave it plugged in with only an iPad charging block (3A) during long coding sessions, and it will maintain a charge or even charge slowly running native Mac. I figure any incremental performance/efficiency bump I got going from M2 Max to M4 Max would be just gravy. This new MacBook did not disappoint. It's faster, but for my purposes, the screen makes the difference during long coding sessions, at the cost of weight and size. Highly recommended for any purpose unless compactness is a higher priority. This MacBook is substantially bigger and heavier than the 14", but for the power they packed inside, it's remarkably compact and light. Very happy with the purchase and would buy it again. I've briefly tried X-Plane and BG3, and it handles them easily. If you run those, you will need the regular charger, which charges the battery fast under any load.

How can any serious user go wrong with the stellar performance and specs of this creme-de-la-creme technological marvel that packs a wallop, providing portability to boot! I have been stuck on PC and iMac desktops for years. With the M4 chip and more RAM than I will ever need, there's no going back now.

Windows User Converts to MacOs

I’m a software engineer that does a lot of computer work. Historically, I have favored Windows machines for their simplicity and immense ecosystem of third party applications. However, Windows has given me a lot of pain points with instability and at times very strange behavior. My primary Windows desktop unfortunately got destroyed in a mishap and I needed a new machine. I wanted something I wouldn’t have to fiddle with too much and would allow me to work at a quick pace, so I decided to try MacOs. This was possibly one of my best purchase decisions; I am soooooo happy with this machine. Yes, it is not perfect and MacOs has a few strange quirks, but overall my experience has had very little friction. When I purchased it, I wasn’t sure if I would keep it or go back to Windows. After a week of use, my mind was made up; I am not giving up this MacBook for anything.
Some quick notes:
- Batter life: Incredible, best I’ve ever experience on a laptop
- Performance: Fast and smooth as butter
- Display: Wonderful and surprisingly good in sunny environments

i've had a MacBook Pro the last eight years and this is a great upgrade. The memory and speed are even better than my last MacBook Pro. I am definitely an apple guy but this is the same for all my friends that have one as well. I use this for my law office. For limited video editing. You can't go wrong

Apple silicon is really something to marvel at, the engineers at Apple should take a bow. This Laptop is not only sleek and eye-catching it's also silent under normal loads and day to day things will yield amazing day long battery results.
The Apple eco-system is also a big plus, they do a great job of making everything seamless and well put together. Being a Windows user sometimes it just nice for things to work and not be overly complicated for the illusion of depth.
Love MacOS, it's just the best UI to work with IMO and everything else while maybe more ahead is way less refined, gaming will also be in the cards for Apple going forward and that will help adoption rates.
Keyboard is great as are the speakers and display, all those things are best in class. Performance of the Max M4 is insane and is quite the leap from the old Intel's that used to be in these things that were so hot, loud and slow.
Would buy AppleCare, if you have enough to fork out $4k you have enough to cover your comp. Peace of mind will help you enjoy the purchase without needing to worry. Plus Apple seems to be really good with dealing with issues when they arise should they.

This is, by far, the best laptop I have ever owned. The battery life is exceptional, and I have zero worries about it entering sleep mode or draining the battery over time. The performance is very good, and all applications run great. It also performs very well for gaming when running games from the App Store or Windows-based games using Crossover (though your mileage will definitely vary on those). The display is bright, the lid hinge is solid, and the port selection is good. The trackpad is, as always, great, and the keyboard is very good. There are very few times that I hear the fan kick on, and it's mostly during gaming. I can't think of any noticeable issue aside from personal feelings about the notch and the weight of the laptop. I would definitely recommend it if you have the funds for it, but lower-specced options will give you a great experience for sure.

I recently purchased the Apple MacBook Pro M4 Max 16-inch with 48GB RAM and 1TB SSD, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. This machine is an absolute powerhouse!
The performance is unmatched—everything runs incredibly smoothly, whether it's video editing, coding, or running multiple resource-heavy applications simultaneously. The display is stunning, with vibrant colors and exceptional clarity. The build quality feels premium, as expected from Apple, and the battery life is impressive given the level of power this laptop offers.
Although it's on the pricier side, it’s worth every penny for the performance and reliability. If you're a professional who needs a high-performing machine, this is the one to get. Highly recommend it!

I recently got the MacBook M4 Max from Best Buy, and it’s been amazing. Its performance is more than I need fast and smooth, even when I have multiple heavy tasks running at once. The screen quality is excellent with the Liquid Retina XDR display offering a high-quality resolution. It looks easy on the eye and detailed, and the brightness, I can increase upto 1600 nits, which makes it easy to work in sunlight too. The battery life is a big plus too, offering up to 22 hours under normal use. Even with heavy usage, it lasts around 8-10 hours easily for me, which is impressive.

A Beast in Every Way

Performance (Overkill, but in the best way)
Let’s be honest: the M4 Max chip is overkill for most everyday tasks—but that’s part of the charm. Everything is snappy. Apps launch instantly, multitasking is effortless, and I’ve yet to experience a stutter or slowdown, even with 30+ browser tabs open, Slack, Notion, Spotify, and a couple of productivity tools running in the background.
It’s one of those machines where you stop thinking about “performance” because everything just flows.
Gaming (Surprisingly Capable)
This isn’t a “gaming laptop” per se, but the M4 Max with its 40-core GPU can absolutely handle modern titles. I’ve played a mix of native Mac games and some via cloud/virtualization, and here’s what I’ve noticed:
• Native Apple Silicon games (like Civilization, No Man’s Sky, Resident Evil Village, Baldur’s Gate 3) run beautifully—high settings, smooth frame rates, minimal fan noise.
• Non-Native games runs surprisingly well with the latest GPTK or crossover, although not as efficient as the native ones.
Thermals stay controlled, and battery doesn’t drain too aggressively when plugged in. It’s not a replacement for a dedicated gaming rig, but as a bonus capability, it’s very impressive.
Display (Still jaw-dropping)
The 16.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display is reason enough to fall in love with this machine. It’s sharp, color-accurate, and HDR content looks amazing. Even gaming visuals pop with deep contrast and smooth motion.
Battery Life (Effortlessly all day)
Battery life is outstanding. I regularly get 14–17 hours with mixed use, and even with casual gaming or video streaming, it holds up remarkably well. I rarely think about charging during a normal day.
Audio & Keyboard
• Speakers: Still unmatched. Spatial audio makes everything sound immersive, whether it’s a movie or in-game environment.
• Keyboard & Trackpad: Typing is a dream, and the massive trackpad is precise—even usable for casual gaming in a pinch (though I still prefer a controller or mouse).
Ports & Build
The MagSafe charging port, HDMI, SD card, and 3x Thunderbolt ports has been super convenient. Build quality is top-tier as always—solid, minimal, and premium. Yes, it’s a little heavier than smaller laptops, but you get used to it quickly.
⸻
What I love
• Blazing-fast performance for any task
• Beautiful, color-rich display
• Impressive gaming potential (especially for a Mac!)
• Insanely good battery life
• Excellent speakers and keyboard
• Doesn’t get hot or loud, even under load
Minor gripes
• RAM and storage can’t be upgraded post-purchase
• A bit large/heavy for frequent travelers
Rating: 9.5/10 – A productivity powerhouse that surprises you with how much more it can do.

I've been using the new MacBook Pro 16-inch with the M4 Max chip for just over a week now, and it's hands-down the most powerful and refined laptop Apple has ever released. Built specifically for Apple Intelligence, this machine doesn't just handle demanding workflows—it thrives on them.
Performance:
The M4 Max chip with 48GB of memory absolutely flies through everything I throw at it—4K video editing, 3D rendering, AI model training, and running multiple pro apps simultaneously. There's zero lag. Apps launch instantly, and multitasking is buttery smooth.
Apple Intelligence Integration:
This is where the machine truly shines. The onboard AI features are game-changing—context-aware tools, blazing-fast on-device image generation, smart coding assistants—all run locally, keeping things private and lightning fast. You can feel the synergy between hardware and software.
Design and Display:
The classic 16-inch Retina display is still industry-leading with rich color, deep blacks, and incredible brightness. Paired with the premium silver aluminum build, it looks as stunning as it performs. Battery life? Easily over 15 hours of heavy use, which is unheard of at this power level.
Storage and Expandability:
With 1TB SSD, I’ve got room for all my creative projects and then some. File transfers are near-instant thanks to the ultra-fast storage. The ports are back too—SD card, HDMI, Thunderbolt—making this the most flexible MacBook for pros.
Final Verdict:
If you're a creative professional, developer, or power user looking to invest in the future of portable computing, this MacBook Pro with M4 Max is worth every dollar. It’s not just an upgrade—it’s a leap forward.

I upgraded from the late 2019 16" Intel i9 Macbook Pro. This new one runs much cooler, the battery lasts a lot longer, and the performance is much better. It's equally as loud while stressing the CPU/GPU. Though that doesn't happen nearly as often as on the Intel one.
