After switching from a Yale smart lock. This is a much more amazing smart lock and for the price! The amount of ways you can unlock it is so convenient not to mention it actually looks like a modern smart lock. The deadbolt is so much better when locking it, it is super fast when unlocking it and the feedback to the app is so quick. Also the fact they’ve included a usb type c port to charge is great. I give this a 9.5/10 only because I love that the key slot is hidden but with having the name of the brand on the lock it is easy to find out where it is

I purchased this lock about three months ago and at first it worked great, Fast forward three months and the front panel stopped working and the batteries drain in a week. Customer support has been less than helpful so far. This issue has been documented elsewhere. Be aware of this product.

an extra star for all the features. this is a poorly made piece of equipment the geek squad tech that installed it broke the tool they gave you to change the batteries. Changing the batteries was really hard to get the back of it off. I got it because it was said that it didnt eat as many batteries as the others. Who cares though if you break it to change the batteries. Just poor workmanship on the equipment.

**Review: Aqara Smart Lock U100 Kit - Unlocking the Future of Home Security** Let me start by saying, wow! The Aqara Smart Lock U100 Kit has completely changed the way I think about home security. As someone who isn't exactly a tech wizard, I was a bit hesitant at first, but boy, am I glad I gave this smart lock a try. First off, let's talk about how easy it was to install. I was worried I'd need to call in a professional or spend hours fumbling with wires and tools, but the installation process was a breeze. It fit right into my existing door lock setup without any hassle. All I needed was a screwdriver, and I was good to go! Now, let's get to the really cool stuff - the features. The Aqara Smart Lock U100 Kit has everything you could possibly want in a smart lock and more. One of my favorite features is the ability to unlock my door with just my smartphone. No more fumbling for keys in my bag - a simple tap on my phone or Apple Watch and I'm in! But wait, there's more. The Aqara Smart Lock U100 Kit also has a built-in fingerprint scanner, so even if I forget my phone inside, I can still unlock the door with just a touch of my finger. It's like something out of a sci-fi movie! There is a standard keyhole just in case you don't have any power available to unlock the door. And let's not forget about security. With advanced encryption technology, I feel safe and secure knowing that my home is protected from any unwanted intruders. Plus, I can even set up temporary passcodes for guests, so I never have to worry about lost keys again. But perhaps the best part of all is the peace of mind that comes with knowing my home is secure, whether I'm at work or on vacation. I can check the status of my door right from my phone, so I always know when it's locked and when it's not. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the Aqara Smart Lock U100 Kit. It's easy to install, packed with features, and provides the ultimate convenience and security for my home. If you're looking to upgrade your home security system, look no further than the Aqara Smart Lock U100 Kit. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

I’ve been creating my smart home for probably more than 4-5 years now and one my main problems is finding devices that play well with Apple Homekit. Most products either don’t work or are extremely pricey. As such, I tend to get items that are compatible with Alexa and hope that one day all devices will play together. I just received a few of Aqara’s products and this is one that I was most excited to get. I have smart locks on my front and back doors, but I wanted one to put on my garage entry door. The problem is that my kids tend to forget their codes, lose keys and the like, so being able to use their fingerprints was something I thought would work better. The lock stores up to 50 fingerprints and also works with Apple Home and Home Key which allows me to open the lock with my iPhone or Apple Watch and they also include a couple of NFC tags that will probably be used by my wife and I as backups in case we don’t have our phones or if we “mis-remember” our key codes. Installation is pretty simple and not much unlike any other standard lock. The only difference that I liked was the backplate that you use to install the keypad. Most locks require you to hold the keypad while you install the back lock panel while also trying to put in the screws. The mounting backplate is then used to connect the interior lock to the door and then you’re done. Simple. There are some other great features as well. Such as temporary passwords, that can be programmed for a set duration. The lock can be set to automatically lock after a set period of time as well which is a great feature and will keep me from having to continue doing security check every night before I go to bed. To be honest, I’m still going to do that, but hey it’s a habit. This lock looks great, definitely has a modern vibe to it and is an awesome addition to my smarthome setup. I highly recommend this product and this brand.

    Aqara Smart Lock U100

So I received my Aqara Smart Lock U100 kit a few days ago and have been putting it through its paces. First off this lock is very sleek and more modern looking. The finish is like a matte black and looks really nice on my door. The Smart Lock U100 comes packed very nicely with everything you need to get started. Upon opening the package, you will find the following: * Outer Panel & Inner Panel * (4) AA Batteries * Deadbolt * Strike Plate & Screw Kit * Mounting Plate & Screw Kit * (2) Mechanical Keys * (2) NFC Keyring Tags * Knob Removal Tool * Opposite Pull Screw Kit * Bolt & Strike Plate Screw Kit * Installation Diagram * User Manual It probably best to take inventory to make sure you have everything needed before starting. Once you’ve accounted for everything you’re ready to go. Assuming you have already removed your old deadbolt, you will need to download the Aqara Home app from the App Store on iOS or Google Play Store for Android. Create an account, and follow along with the app. One thing I love about the app is that the step-by-step instructions also include videos. After a few test runs with the door opened and testing out the app and the unlock/lock feature in the Home app from my iPhone, I stood outside (with my keys in hand) and locked the door. I was able to quickly unlock the door from outside with the Aqara Home app as well as the Home app on my iPhone (I had my keys just in case I was to get locked out). There’s a slight noticeable lag that I hope gets worked out in a future firmware update. Speaking of which, make sure to update the lock’s firmware through the Aqara Home app. Something I noticed when I went to update the firmware, was that the update went without a hitch, but what it did was instead of updating to the most recent update, it updated to the update before the most recent one, so I had to update it twice before it said it was updated to the most recent update. Not sure why it didn’t just update to the most recent one to begin with but that was my experience. Once it was added to HomeKit, it also added a Virtual Home Key in Apple’s Wallet app on my iPhone which is kinda cool. You can use it by placing it near the lock on the outside and it unlocks the door. Following along with the instructions I also programmed one of the NFC Keyring Tags so I could add it to my keyring as well. When using an NFC Keyring Tag, simply place the NFC Tag in the midsection of the keypad (numbers 4 thru 9) and say “Open Sesame,” no you don’t actually have to say it, it just unlocks the door for you. Another great feature about this Smart Lock is the Fingerprint sensor. I added a couple of fingerprints to the keypad as another way of unlocking my door as well as the 6-digit keypad code for entry. This is a very nice Smart Lock. I did notice a couple of quirks here and there, hopefully minor things that will get worked out in a future firmware update. I almost forgot to mention that in all it took me about 30 minutes to install this Smart Lock. Could possibly be quicker but I just took my time in making sure I was following the instructions to the T. Not a dealbreaker but one thing I did not like is the User Manual; that thing is tiny, not sure why companies are resorting to teeny tiny manuals with even smaller print. It’s to find the PDF version of the manual online and use it.

    Apple HomeKit/HomeKey Support is Amazing

This is a good looking smart lock, which was really easy to install. Luckily, the door I installed it on was easy to open/close and things lined up perfectly. It is a good size, but fairly small for all of the features it has. It has many options for operations. You can use the fingerprint ready or keypad (and assign different codes using the app). The killer feature here, for me, is Apple HomeKit and HomeKey support. Being able to unlock the door with an Apple Watch is so convenient. Having the other options as a back up is also great. If it runs low on power, you can also change it with a usb type c connection, to use an emergency back up. It can also auto lock, if you want, which is a great feature. The lock status is also reported in the app, so you can easily see the state. It can also integrate with other devices to use in home automation routines. I have yet to set this up, but thinking that something like using the Aqara Video doorbell with on device face recognition to open the door if locked. Easy to recommend for the number of features, and for the HomeKey support alone.

Review for Aqara - Smart Lock U100 Kit - Silver Over the years, I’ve tried a number of smart locks — all had their pros and cons. The Aqara Smart Lock 100 comes closest to being the best for a number of reasons. First, it works with a wide variety of systems including Apple HomeKit, Alexa, Google Home and others. Much of my home automation works with Apple HomeKit, so I can really only speak to using the lock with this. Installing the lock is simple with a few screws, assuming you have a relatively modern wooden door with standard offsets. The instructions are straightforward and I had the entire lock installed in about 15 minutes. Setup was also easy and the lock quickly connected to my home network. I got this lock together with the Aqara video doorbell and really like how the two are integrated to work together. When the doorbell rings, I can see who’s there and unlock the door if I like! The lock comes with two NFC fobs, a fingerprint reader, and a pair of standard keys (hopefully never needed!) I can also program up to 50 different fingerprints. The fingerprint reader is easy to use and extremely accurate. The response time is also very fast. The biometric fingerprint data is only stored locally, so there is no fear of over sharing your sensitive information. Setting the lock up with Apple HomeKit allows me easy entry with my iPhone or Apple Watch. You can also create passcodes for frequent visitors, or even one-time use. You can adjust them for specific dates and times, for example, to allow access for your house cleaners on given days and times. The lock uses four AA alkaline batteries and is supposed to last for eight months. We’ll see if that holds up.

    Best All around smart lock

I’ve been trying several smart locks lately from lots of brands and this Aqara lock is by far my favorite of the bunch. It isn’t perfect but it’s very close to it. In the box you get the lock, a usb hub to allow you to connect the the lock over WiFi, and all the pieces you need to install the lock. One issue I had was the lack of an AC adapter for the hub. If it’s going to be plugged in 24/7 it should come with an AC adapter. Installation is really easy. If you’ve ever installed a lock before you’ll know exactly what to do. Set up via the app is pretty straightforward. Following the instructions I was able to get setup done via the app, HomeKit and Google home all at once. This lock is beyond feature rich. It has all the normal features like auto lock and keypad entry, but it also has so much more. The fingerprint sensor works great and Aqara lets you store multiple users fingers in the app so that you get notifications each time a specific person unlocks the door. In addition to that you can also unlock the door with included nfc tags that you also link to specific people. They work quickly and are another convenient way to unlock. HomeKey is also supported, letting you unlock via your iPhone of Apple Watch. If all else fails there’s also a hidden keyhole under the metal plate of the lock. Some additional cool features include a magic door sensor that somehow knows when the door is open and closed and can lock the door as soon as it’s closed. It works great. The locking and unlocking is also the quickest I’ve ever seen on any lock. Overall this is the best lock around, highly recommend.

I got this smart lock for the man door in our garage. It was easy to install and setup in the Aqara app. As always, check for firmware updates once you have it connected to your 2.4 wifi network. The problem with this and any smart lock is that the lock and the door striker plate has to be perfectly aligned, if you have to push or pull on your door to engage the lock, then you'll need to fix that first. The setup of fingerprints, NFC, passcode, and other means of entry are fairly easy to do. You can store up to 100 fingerprints, so this would work well for a small or medium sized business. There are lots of options with this smart lock, you can set it to auto lock after a preset time interval, that way if you forget to lock the door, it will lock itself. It does require five AA batteries, where my other keypad door locks use a 9 volt battery, we'll see how battery life is.It would be nice to have different color options. The integration with Apple Homekit, Amazon Alexa, Google, and IFTT was easy to setup with little delays when sending it commands. Overall, this is a great smart door lock.

The Aqara - Smart Lock U100 Kit is a great all around smart home door system. The smart lock is very heavy duty. It’s actually quite heavy. Much heavier than I imagined. It comes with a keypad that has a matte finish, which is good for not showing fingerprints. That way others can easily see which numbers you are using for your numerical combinations. It also comes with a fingerprint reader and key lock. The key lock is useful for the times when you’re unable to open the lock using the keypad or fingerprint reader. There’s a sliding door that hides the keyhole. This give is a streamlined look, while not always showing the key hole when it’s not needed. The install of the smart lock could be a bit easier to install as far as the app setup. There was no quick start guide with illustrations. Only a small pamphlet guide which included a QR to download the app. The app was requesting me to pair a device to my home’s WiFi network. I wasn’t sure exactly what to do next, so I ended up putting the 4 AA batteries in the lock to power it up before installing it. After selecting the device I have in the app, it then begin to take me through the steps of installing the lock. It later showed that I was to install the batteries later in the install process. Removal of the faceplate to get to the batteries took some work. There’s a small notch at the bottom of the lock with a pry tool to help get it off. I was afraid I was going to break the faceplate while taking it off. This process of getting to the batteries is much harder than other smart locks I’ve used.It also comes with 2 NFC tags you can use to unlock the lock. The NFC tags has a small lanyard string that can be attached to your key ring. The keypad can be programmed for each person to have their own code. You can also program temporary codes for those who may need access to your home for a limited time. Overall, I’m impressed with this smart lock, which has great Apple HomeKit support.

I had been researching different home smart locks for sometime as this is basically the only item I had not made “smart” in our home. I have to be honest I didn’t know much about Aqara and didn’t really know what to expect but I am pleasantly surprised that I received this. The first thing that stands out to me is the color and finish on this smart lock, I received it in silver and it is very appealing and really stands out. Our neighbors have inquired as to what the make/model this lock is and said they really liked the look of it. The #1 feature that I enjoy about this smart lock is that it allows so MANY different ways you can unlock/lock this smart lock including fingerprint reader. It is also Amazon, Apple, and Google smart home friendly. I did have to make a modification before I installed it, the hole from my previous dead bolt was not big enough, our home was built in late 90’s and I guess the deadbolts back then were not as robust, so consider that before purchasing. But it only took about 10 minutes to drill the hole a little bigger w/ hole saw and adjust the strike plate w/ the new deadbolt. Aqara provides EVERYTHING that you need (including 4 AA batteries) to make the installation simple, and trust me, it is very simple to install this smart lock. This is a very well made product and Aqara says that battery life is approximately 8 months, I would think that will determine on temperature and usage as to if the batteries will last that long, this is the door that is used the majority of the time at our home so I’m anxious to see. If you are in the market for a well made, and great to look at smart lock, I recommend this Aqara Smart Lock U100.

A quality Reliable and Failsafe Lock!

Firstly I have to say I'm truly shocked at the results of this smart lock. I recently inherited a building from my family which I plan on having an Airbnb in and thought this would be the perfect product to test the Aqara Ecosystem. Installation of the lock was a breeze and didn't take much though or effort. Configuration of the lock isn't too bad, if you are slightly technologically advanced you'll pick it up pretty quickly. Now what matters most is functionality. First off the ability to create specific passcodes and users on the lock is beyond useful when dealing with an Airbnb. I know my contractor, cleaners, and tentants all have access but only specific people have specific access at specific times. The tenants I can set up a timeframe the lock works for them and ensure disables when they check out. The one hope I have is that there will be third party integrates with management platforms where it soon will just create the keys and interface with the Aqara platform and save a step. That's a huge nice to have and doesn't contribute to the overall rating. The lock interfaces well with the doorbell for remote unlock with the hub as well for the times you need to unlock a spur the moment visitor. The lock works well with Apple HomeKit and NFC/Bluetooth that it truly is as easy as tapping your phone just like ApplePay. Simply put, this product is reliable and secure and don't worry a lockout or battery dying is not end all be all as it has external USB-C to repower the device and a mechanical key override for reentry.

I have never heard of this brand, until I visited a Best Buy and found a bundle of home automation products that I needed, bundled and offered at a great price Not being new to home automation (thermostats, lights), I was not partially fond of the idea of another app, but since this one integrates with Apple Home, it was a easy decision Diving into the unboxing, the packaging was adequate to protect the product, and way more attractive than what you will find in brand that is not top of mind Their app was simple, intuitive and worked seamlessly across the different products that I bought. Reviews on the app store shows potential issues that may have occurred over a year ago, but they obviously fixed all that with the latest release So what does this product do? Like the other products that I bought in this bundle, this is another home automation but for the door lock. While I used this one for a front door, it would also work anywhere you have a deadbolt. You set-up in their app, and can access it via either their app or Apple Home. This installed easily and works flawlessly. The design and fit/finish is also appealing Since this integrates with Apple Home, you can rely on a single app to view across products

construction is really nice and with a nice finish as well. I initially thought outside was plastic - but is actually painted aluminum. All internals for install are metal as well. My only complaint is the strike plate screws are only 1inch. I prefer a longer screw here to provide a stronger security. Love the slide key access plate- no reall "grip" but if you pinch you can slide it down - stays kinda hidden will see how long the keypad lasts in the weather - my install is not full sun so should last a while install is standard - no reall issues there - pretty straight forward - app walks you through install and setup. I did miss the knob removal during first pass but once figured out - install was a breeze. love the fingerprint access!! And the many other ways to share access weather multiple user codes, fingerprint reader, NFC key, or remote access. All ways are logged in the app. Overall a nice smart lock, easy install, many ways to gather access and looks really nice! Should be usefull for a while to come!

The main difference between giving it a 4 or a 5 is the design and look. It has a very modern look; simplistic but stylish. The keypad is a very good size to use. It also has a fingerprint scanner that can hold up to 50 fingerprints. This makes it very quick and easy when compared to typing in a code. The app is easy to use and allows you to control many aspects of the device. You can also connect it with Alexa, Google Home, etc. I connected it to Google Home and it was very easy to integrate and worked well. A nice added feature is it has USB-C charging in case the battery runs low. Great so you don't get locked out. As far as install it was very easy and took about 20 minutes. You really only need a screwdriver. It fit my door which was a standard wooden door and lock. I was very pleased with the install. Overall when it comes to home security as well as convenience of allowing easy access to the home (and emergency access through the app and USB-C charging) I highly recommend this.

The Aqara Smart Lock U100 Kit offers convenience and security for your home, but it's not without its drawbacks. I have spent the last couple days installing and testing out the Aqara Smart lock, so let’s go over some of the Pros and Cons and what this smart lock has to offer. Unboxing and Setup: • Locking Panels • AA Batteries • Deadbolt • Mechanical Keys • NFC Tags • Knob Removal Tool • Installation instructions The setup process was pretty simple. The installation manual in the box was simple and easy to follow. My installation time was about 45 minutes that included removal of my old door lock and installation of the new Aqara Smart Lock. Once installed, I paired the lock with the Aqara home application and was ready to go. I would like to mention that this was the only product that I was able to connect with the application on the first try. PROS: • Fingerprint and Remote Access: The smart lock has a fingerprint reader located in the center of the door lock and can store up to 20 fingerprints. The lock can also be accessed with keypad, mechanical key, the application (Aqara Home App, HomeKit or Google Home) or the provided NFC tags. • Auto Lock and Sensing: This was probably my favorite feature of this smart lock. The lock can be set up to auto-lock the door behind you or send you reminders if you forget to lock the door. • Design and Build quality: So, I would have to say that I am not a fan of how boxy the lock looks and how wide it is compared to my current lock, but I do like and appreciate the build quality. The lock is made from catalpa alloy and has some heft to it. The keypad is made from a matte texture, so you don’t have to worry about someone stealing your password. CONS: • Large and bulky design • The Aqara Home application issues • Limited smart features: Compared to some competitors, the Aqara U100 offers a more basic set of smart features and automations. • Battery: I am not a fan of changing batteries, especially AA or AAA batteries. I believe Aqara could have designed better by including rechargeable battery pack, so your not purchasing and changing out batteries every few months. Overall the Aqara Smart Lock U100 Kit is a good option for homeowners seeking a convenient and secure way to control their entryway. Its multiple unlocking methods, easy installation, and smart home compatibility. However, the large design, app issues, limited smart features and the AA batteries are a drawbacks for me.
