My favorite game growing up was Centipede. I never thought I would be able to play it whenever I wanted, with the trackball. It works really well. The game is mostly easy to put together. This version comes with the riser, it’s kinda of short without it. Id think if you were over 6 foot tall, you would need to use a chair. The only thing I would improve is there is no way to save your high scores. If you turn it off, it goes away. I know this is technically how the arcade version was, but most arcades I went to left the games on for long periods of time. I just think in 2018, I should be able to save my scores. I bought the deluxe one because I thought if I was spending $200 anyway, I might as well do the extra $100 and get the riser and 12 games total. I like Millipede, Tempest, and Missle Command. To be honest I haven’t messed with the other games that much. This looks great in a room and is an instant talking point (if you’re old like me anyway) lots of nostalgic fun with 100% authenticity.

The cabinet was well packaged and it took longer to unpackaged and locate the parts than the actual assembly process. It was very easy and fun to assemble.
The spinner knob rubbed against the cabinet and did not spin correctly. After adding a couple of spacer washers to a couple of screws, adding tape to the spinner knob, and lightly sanding/polishing the hole in the control panel the spinner now spins freely. There are now plenty of YouTube videos demonstrating this process.
The games are now very fun to play and the cabinet looks great. It brings back great memories from the early 80’s.

Very fun machine with no breakdowns 2 years later. However, the stock spinner is not good at all. I replaced that easily with the spinner on the glens spinner and the track ball as well. Each game is very fun. Only centipede and asteroids deluxe though keep your scores saved top 3). I recommend this machine if you like the classic games and if you are willing to spend 50 bucks to upgrade the spinner.

Screen Issues Immediately

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for myself. It came very quickly and once it arrived I was able to assemble it within an hour. As soon as I turned it on I noticed that the screen was acting weird and that it looked as if it was trying to resize the picture. After attempting to play it the image on the screen shakes from side to side and makes it very irritating. It does this in all the menus and games and is sporadic. I called arcade1up and after spending over an hour on the phone I was told that I would be shipped a replacement LCD assembly and it could take 4-6 weeks to arrive. I feel like I have been taken for roughly $400 and now I have to wait until way past my return window just for some parts that may or may not fix the issue. I googled this issue and have found that many people are having the same issue. Many people have filmed the issue so I know it is identical to what I am seeing. Hopefully arcade1up gets me taken care of. Other than the screen issues the cabinet and controls looks and feels really good. I want to support them because I love what they are doing but it’s hard to do when you pay for something that doesn’t work.

This 12-1 takes me back to my days as a kid in the 80’s. In the comforts of my home I can be a kid again. I have two other Galaga and Golden Tee and I plan to buy a few more for my man cave. I highly recommend buying this retro games to bring you back to the old school days.

This is a great machine.
And after you do two little fixer uppers on it. It becomes a awesome machine.
Lube roller pins
Add nuts and weight to spinner knob.
I own 8 arcade games and this fits in very nicely with them.
Side art is amazing and height is not a issue.
Don't expect to get a 3000 dollar machine and you won't be disappointed.
I'm waiting for a wave 2 and praying for a mortal Kombat or Konami cab.
Best thing about this machine is having all the extra games in it ..like 3 cabs in one.
Also I beat my arcade scores in major havoc millipede and tempest. That's proof the fixes work for me.

Been wanting a stand-up arcade game my entire adult life but the thousands of dollars they cost made it impossible. This is NOT a full size, rather a 3/4 size but it is perfect! Looks exactly like the real deal and with the riser it does stand at the normal stand and play height. The game, sounds, artwork on the cabinet... it's all there! The controls took a bit getting used to, as the track ball isn't quite the same feel... but after several plays, totally adapted. Others who tried said the same thing. If you're afraid of the build, it could NOT be easier. Took me just just over an hour and I usually curse my through assembly on things... not this. Made perfect sense. I am so into this and friends love it. I am buying more of these from this same company and making my own mini arcade. I wish BestBuy carried more from their line. JUMP ON THIS exclusive 12 in 1 version before it's gone!

I will go ahead and admit that I never played any of these games on an actual arcade unit, so I have no clue how they used to be. However, I can say I was pleasantly surprised with how well it looks, plays, and sounds.
Putting the unit together is extremely easy. I did have a part on the riser that didn't have the dowel and screw holes on one edge, but was easily fixed with a drill and proper drill bits. Certainly not a deal breaker
When you turn it on, there is a nice splash screen and a surprisingly loud rumble coming from the tiny speaker. I was shocked a speaker so small would actually rumble like that. The sound on all the games is great.
Now, onto the point of contention for most people: the controls. Personally, I love the trackball and its accuracy. I've never used one before but it was really accurate and responsive. The buttons aren't as good as they could've been, but I really like the tactile feel to them. I'll probably upgrade them one day. Now, the knob that is used on games like Tempest and Major Havok is a little weird. It does click when you turn it and is kind of loud, but it doesn't make the games unplayable, but it could be better. Each click seems to move only a single frame so you really have to ramp it up to move in Major Havok. I believe I'll change it for another knob to see if the clicking is a feature and not a bug.
I would highly recommend this system for anyone who wants to add it to a game room and loves having their own arcade units. It doesn't completely replace the original cabinets, but for the price, it can't be beat. I like this so much that I am already looking forward to getting the Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Pac Man units to add to my room.

As other reviews have already stated, the spinner is lame plastic and not at all what you (and I) remember from 80's arcades. It rubs on the deck too. I really like the trackball though. Biggest disappointment was the visible horizontal line going across the screen upon startup. I can't tell you how much of a bummer that was. I have reached out to Arcade1Up and they told me to remove the protective cover for the LCD and wipe the screen and the backside of the cover with a damp cloth to remove any static buildup. I followed their instructions but it made no difference, the line persists.
I am awaiting their response to my findings. That will determine how I proceed. If they ship another monitor to me, that would be ideal as I do like the cabinet itself. The games I like are playable for the most part but if they stumble with support on this matter, I will return it to BestBuy.

A Good 3/4 Scale Home Emulation System

I purchased this item for my wife as a combination anniversary/early Christmas present. So far, it has been very enjoyable for her.
The build itself was easy and took me about 45 minutes. The instructions are very detailed and easy to follow. You do not need any technical knowledge or special tools to put this together.
As far as the system itself, there are only a couple of options for sound. I would have preferred a sound knob to this option. The trackball itself is a solid build. I personally found it to be slightly smaller, but nearly indistinguishable from the arcade machine.
The games Missile Command, Crystal Castles, Millipede and Centipede are emulated perfectly and seamlessly with the trackball.
The spinner controller, which is used for games like Tempest is another story. I find it to be very clunky and not well executed. It does not work nearly as well as the arcade spinners. Even an Atari 2600 driving controller spinner would be preferable to this piece of garbage.
The spinner games themselves are well emulated, but the lack of a good spinner really detracts from their game play.
Buttons are a solid build and the menu is well executed.
If I could change anything about this system, it would be the spinner, the lack of high score saving (they could have easily added in on board memory for high score saving for next to nothing cost wise on their end) and the ability to change game settings like one can do on actual arcade machines.
Outside of that, this is a nice system, and with the riser, even I am able to play comfortably (I am 6' 1" tall for reference) standing. The game with the riser makes the machine about 4 inches shorter than an arcade cabaret style machine and 6-8 inches shorter than a standard arcade machine for comparison.
Overall, this is a nice system for a home and is not too heavy to move around or too light to be wobbly. I would not buy it for any kind of commercial business as the machine is definitely designed for home use for the person who would like a home arcade experience without the maintenance, space and weight issues of having actual arcade machines.

Good Entry Level Arcade Cabinet

I was very hesitant to purchase this smaller arcade cabinet. I decided to make the purchase for the ability to play several games using the roller ball and the spinner knob. The controls aren’t the greatest compared to the original arcade machines, but not bad considering the price. The cabinet has twelve games and I can easily burn an hour out of the day playing some very basic, but fun games. There are better machines out there but that go for around $2000 so this was a good entry level machine. In addition, it actually looks cool in my retro game room.

Just assembled this and started playing it. It was straightforward and easy to assemble, requiring only a Phillips head screwdriver. I used one with a ratchet but you don't need to. I really, really love it. The artwork is gorgeous. This is now the centerpiece of my game room and I am looking forward to hours of fun.

Not the best quality

It was pretty easy to set up, but while building I noticed that the quality wasn't the best. Like some particle board style shelves, some spots appeared "mushed". The way it was packaged, this shouldn't have happened. There's imperfections on nearly every visible piece of the cabinet. The price is right and offsets that a little, but after setting everything up I discovered that my "B" button didn't work! It's required in some of the games and makes some games unplayable. Reached out via email and got no response within 24 hrs. The buttons are on a controller board, and after several bits of troubleshooting I removed the controller board to see if I could find something wrong. There was a "QA passed" sticker on the bottom of the board and a plastic cover covered everything directly under the buttons. I had to remove that cover to discover that one of the wires had broken off of the "B" button. This couldn't have happened in shipping. I think it was just rushed out and not inspected. I had to solder the wire back on. I shouldn't have to do that with a new $400 electronic of any kind. Once fixed, the games are great, the video and sound is great, and the size is nice with the riser. It feels like it should be worth $400... But the overall quality makes me think that's not the case. However, it is fun and I do not regret this purchase

Incredible Mini-Arcade

Where to start? Let’s see... how about the fact that the riser came with this one and it has 12 of the all time greats. When other companies made the mini Konami and Midway minis they clearly skimped in many ways, Arcade1up did it right. The controllers are solid, the artwork it beautiful, and the feeling of it being an actual arcade is all there. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to relive a lost era of time that was such a fond part of my youth.

Ok, let's start with the CONS.
1) The rotory/spinner controller (Tempest, Major Havoc) is useless. I mean completley TERRIBLE. Makes the games unplayable. If you want this for either of these games, forget it. SUPER cheap, and it feels like it will break after about 5 games. I cannot tell you how bad it is, it doesn't spin freely - at all. It's light, CHEAP plastic, VERY disapointing.
2) The button used for "fire" didn't work. (It's kind of important to play the game)
PROS:
1) Very nice monitor - super clear screen, even the vector games look good, which doesn't always happen on a LCD. Probably the high point of the system.
2) The roller controller is actually very good. Centipede, Millipede, Missle Command, and Crystal Castles play VERY well.
3) Style and artwork is very attractive and arcade accurate.
4) Easy assembly. Took less than an hour with a single Phillips screwdriver.
OVERALL:
If you don't mind replacing and upgrading the controls - it's not bad. But if you want it for Tempest and don't want to tear it apart to upgrade the spinner - skip it. I'm giving it 2 stars based on the screen and roller ball controller only (the only saving grace and I can't give 2.5)

We're really enjoying this so far! Excellent setup instructions (video is available) and it went together in about an hour or so very easily. Everything worked as expected with 1 exception. We have a vertical blue line toward the right side of the screen. I've contacted support and am hoping (based on what I've read elsewhere online) that they'll ship a new part. Still 100% playable though and we've had a ton of fun with it. I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't for the blue line.

Really Happy With It So Far

My unit just arrived today. I assembled it in about 90 minutes, plus a little longer for the riser. Pretty straightforward to do.
I've played Tempest, Centipede, and Major Havoc on this so far. The games play smoothly without any stuttering or weird behavior. I get sucked into these games just like old times. The spinner is a little stiff and doesn't spin like it would on a lot of Tempest machines back in the day, but it still plays great. I've been anticipating this machine for a while now and it does not disappoint. Highly recommended!
Also, I'm 6'3" tall and I have no problems playing it while standing(with the riser).
