Sounds incredible. However, extremely poor quality. Overheat Failures on Day 1. Returned for service, but had ongoing issues with several inputs not passing 4k or decoding Dolby Atmos.

The sound quality is excellent. This is a definite upgrade in quality from my previous Denon 4311. It is on par with my 2 channel system. Spotify connect is excellent (its the only streaming service I use). This actually has plenty of power to run my 5 channel Focal electra system 1027 floor standers, 1007 bookshelf surrounds, and matching center. I was surprised. The only gripe is that I can't get dirac live to work for the life of me. I have never liked what room correction has done for my system vs. manual eq and room treatment, but it's 1 of the main draws.
It's still an amazing value in receivers, and studs much better than bigger brands with audessey eq

AUDIO EXCELLENCE AT A BARGAIN PRICE

I purchased the Arcam 390 last week. Before purchasing, I did an A/B test at Best Buy Magnolia of the Arcam versus high-end Marantz and Denon AVR's using the stores B&W 804 speakers. I was surprised how much better the Arcam 390 sounded; the speakers just "opened-up." I now have the Arcam 390 at home driving B&W 805 front and center speakers, SVS sub-woofers, and Boston Acoustic surround speakers wired into the ceiling by the previous home owner. The Arcam replaced a Denon in the 4000 series. I always liked Denon but the Arcam is in a whole different and much better playing field. If you are going to spend around $1,500 for your stereo or audio-video system, go with the Arcam instead of the the standard AVR names...you won't be sorry.

We tested several receivers and in regards to sound the Arcam stood head and shoulders above the others at this price point. The Dirac Live room correction impressed me more than I expected and think its deserving its praise from audiophiles. Overall, we're very pleased with the Arcam avr390
