These cameras come along way from the originals. They have more features, clearer images, night vision is great, built in security light, determine whether an animal or person and a theft mechanism. I use these to help protect my home and family when away and at night when my family is asleep. Pros: I can control each camera with the app home or away. I can check my home at anytime. I can set up certain areas of the cameras view called "activity zones" I can interact with people or animals thru the app. Cons: There is a small monthly fee for video space. (Many people don't realize this until they get home).

Arlo Home Security System

I’ve been purchasing Arlo products for the last 2 years. Out of all the wireless home security systems currently available, Arlo takes the cake.
Here’s why:
- Their cameras, housings, batteries, and mounts specifically with the Pro 3, Pro 4, Pro 5S, Ultra, and Ultra 2 cameras are interchangeable.
- The magnetic charging cable included with these cameras work seamlessly and do not wear out like typical chargers that plug in which eventually become wore out.
- Customer service is available immediately through the Arlo app if you have an issue with installation or connection problems. The majority of the issues is because of your internet connection, so check that first.
- If you purchase brand new cameras and one of them is faulty in the kits, contacting Arlo to get replacements is easy, all they ask is that you cover the shipping to them before they send you a new replacement unit.
- Compared to ALL other wireless cameras on the market, the video & audio quality is top tier, especially with the Ultra 2 4K cameras which have a 180 degree field of view that eliminates the fish eye effect. The Arlo Pro 3, Pro 4, and Pro 5S have a 160 degree field of view, and these are adjustable through the Arlo app.
Some improvements I’d suggest Arlo take note of:
- I’d like to see the Arlo Ultra 2 with similar improvements like the the Pro 5S cameras, which include dual-band WiFi, better battery life, and the ability to connect to internet without a Smarthub. Currently the Arlo Ultra 2 cameras need to be connected to a Smarthub to work. But this also has an added benefit because the Smarthub allows you to store footage locally without an Arlo Subscription plan. Everybody likes free stuff.
On the last note, anytime I’ve been asked which wireless system to go with, I always suggest Arlo. So if anyone complains that they do not like their products for whichever reason, or they are not working properly, or the batteries don’t last long, it’s because they’re not aware that many of these issues are user error. Battery life and features are all adjustable through the app.
These cameras have so much technology packed into one tiny unit that when used properly, crushes the competition easily. When you’re using these cameras at their fullest capacity, the value you get is well worth the price.

New Year, New Problems

I’m sure my cameras were defective after a week of use because the product we’re easy to install and worked pretty well at the beginning. Easy access to view footage and setup camera routine through the app or online. However after a week the cameras went offline after an outage from my internet service. I did every possible way to get them to reconnect but nothing worked. I looked on their app to troubleshoot the issue and saw articles on the Arlo website to understand why it went from blinking blue to amber quickly. I even connected with a arlo service agent and they only provided the same steps and the issue still occurred. I used my internet router before to connect and the cameras worked fine but this time that wasn’t the case even after I reset the cameras and tried to reinstall them. I only would hear the chime of the cameras connecting to the QR code and see the camera blink from blue to amber. Then get on the app No Cameras Were Found. I did not use Arlo’s base station or smarthub. I decided to return them after the new year to avoid this headache. Maybe I’ll get new ones after.

These cameras are great! The setup and install were super easy. Since the cameras are wireless, you simply install a baseplate with 3 screws and the cameras lock in. The app sends you notifications when it detects an animal, vehicle, person, motion and many other customizable options. The picure and sound quality are amazing. I can hear a bugs wings flapping when near the camera. I almost bought a doorbell camera but these do so much more and with the sale I got, it was comparable in price. The angle it shows of my front door is much better than if I went with a doorbell. I've wanted secuity cameras for years but I was intimidated with the installtion process. I would highly reccomend these to anyone looking for a little extra peace of mind at home.

Excellent Cameras, Requires Subscription

I bought the Arlo Pro 4 to replace my original Pro's that I've had since 2016. So far I'm very happy with them, The image quality is excellent and you can set an obscenely wide field of view. Also these do not require a dedicated base station like my original Pro's which is very nice. I'm pretty familiar with the app at this point, but it's intuitive and easy to set schedules, activity zones, etc. It seems like the way things are going in general now, but it's disappointing that these require a subscription, though 3 months are included in the box. The battery life is not as good as my original Pro's, though this seems mostly dependent on how many activity alerts you are getting. My front door camera I have to charge every couple of weeks it seems, while my other 2 cameras that see less activity are every 1 to 2 months. On the plus side swapping out the batteries is very easy and I always have a charged spare at the ready. Overall I think this is a great system and while the subscription is not preferred it offers enough features and protection that I think you could potentially justify dumping a more expensive security system from Comcast, ADT, etc.

Love this ARLO Pro 4 camera! Great picture quality. Audio is remarkable. Nice features like a spotlight. So portable and easy to move and charge up. I signed up for the single camera plan (very inexpensive) and now wish I had invested in this system for the whole house. Thinking about getting another one. Easy set up BTW, probably the easiest device I've set up.

So far so good! Replacing (3) Arlo Pro 2 cams outside in the southern California desert. These Arlo Pro 2 cams have taken a beating and have been incredibly tough and resilient. I have only connected 1 so far as i ran out of daylight, but upgrade from 1080p to 2k with a 160° field of view is amazing!! The clarity is phenomenal. I have had no issues and set up was a breeze. I have more trouble connecting IoT lights and hubs than these. And the package i got was $200 off!!

I spent several weeks researching smart security cameras before finally purchasing alto security cameras, I wanted to go with something cheaper like ring but after reading dozens of reviews and talking to friends and family I decided to go with the more expensive choice, alto cameras are great, they are the only wireless cameras I could find, the video quality is great and they are simple to install. I believe in most cases you get what u pay for and this is one of those things you are better off spending more and not taking the chance on a cheaper product.

The quality is great, sharp image, reactive to activity. I think the Arlo app is very good too. I am glad I bought these and a doorbell. I only had two issues. I was unable to sync it to the Smarthub. Eventually determined it was an issue with the Smarthub, I replaced it and it work perfectly now. The other issue the Security mount does not have a threaded connector which I needed for the Wasserstein 3 in 1 spot light. I was not aware of this, but I went to my local hardware store an bought a 1/4 - 20 bolt and it works fine. I do wish the doorbell could be sync with the Smarthub.

I’m a first time home buyer. I thought someone tried breaking into my house in the middle of the night and I was all alone. That same morning I went to Best Buy and purchased this camera. The three cameras didn’t take long to install and I did it on my own. The quality is great. The picture attached is about 9:30pm. You can do many things including zoom in, make the video brighter, 2-way talk from wherever. If you park in your garage like I do, nobody will ever be able to tell if you’re home or across the country!

The Arlo Pro 4 is definitely the type of camera you can set up and trust to do its job. It has color night vision and an integrated spotlight that guarantees your high-definition videos. It is easy to install and works perfectly once connected to wifi. It is wireless and has long battery life. The best feauture is to arm your home so you can get alerts for any motion detection including cars passing or package delivery. It also offer two way interaction. CONS: You have to pay monthly subscription to keep keep all features. $12.99 for ALL CAMERAS.

Cameras need a very strong WiFi signal to work well. The trade off is the installation is easy, install the cameras anywhere. We needed to buy the mesh WiFi and up the internet speed to get WiFi all over the house, but the cameras work well. You only get the anti theft mounts if you buy a three pack. I bought 2 extra cameras and had to buy 2 mounts separately. You have to mount cameras on a vertical surface or figure out how to mount it yourself. I made some adapter mounts myself. I wanted to mount under the eaves for protection, but can’t do it with their mounts, only move 45 degrees. I don’t like the magnetic mounts, easy to mount, but easy to steal.

Get the Arlo Smarthub! Put all cameras, spotlights on the hub. Fast and easy installation for us rookies! Tweak settings in the Arlo app for optimal performance. Love camera features. Live in a cold, sub-zero (at times) climate and the cameras worked when motion detected. Zoom and auto-tracking is great! Microphones and speakers sensitive and perform very well two-way when activated. Highly recommend!

Of the arlo family of cameras that I’ve tried which is from the originals through the pros and the ultras these are my favorite. I can tell a performance and video quality difference on the essential to pro 4, but can’t tell from pro 4 to ultra. In other words I can see a difference in 1080 to 2k, but not 2k to 4K. Another cool feature that sets these aside from even the ultra series is that these can be used without a hub. They are able to connect directly to WiFi. The lag also is not as long as it seems to be on a the pro 4 as it is with essential. The one thing I can give to essential over all others is battery life. Granted Arlo is not the cheapest out there, but out of what I’ve tried they’re my favorite. Hope this helps you decide!

I have had the cameras for about six weeks now. The cameras illustrate a nice picture and are easy to install. The scene management is easy to explore and manipulate.
Each scene can be deleted as well as the whole day. I plan on purchasing more of these cameras. You can receive notifications over your phone when you're away from home.

These cameras are top of the line. The comparability with Alexa devices is awesome, I can simply talk to my fire stick and see my camera feed immediately. Cameras come with a 3 month trial subscription to Arlo Secure, which enables cloud DVR storage. At the time of this review, the going rate was 12.99 a month: seems to me a great value for peace of mind. Arlo’s support website is great, and setting up the cameras was as simple as downloading the app and following instructions. I’m very pleased with this purchase and may even add the base for local storage to a USB external drive. Highly recommend taking advantage of this package deal as it comes with the anti theft mounts and an extra battery.

Thought these were going to be a nice upgrade/addition to my pro 2 cameras. The ability to review clips via cloud, remotely, and thumbnail shots was great until the 90-trial ended, then you have to pay to have those features; bs. Ended up having to upgrade base station ($60 on sale) so I could record to a flash drive locally. Can’t view those clips remotely without port forwarding which I can’t get to work. Can only view when on home WiFi network, more bs. Would have sought out more pro 2 that offer all these features at no cost had I know. Additionally these do not perform as well as pro 2 in cold and battery wears out faster too. Highly disappointed with this purchase.

I bought this camera a week ago and had it installed in front of my house the same day. The setup and install was very easy to do and I had the camera up and running in no time. You are able to set parameters for where the camera will pick up things and start recording which is amazing. The video quality is amazing and I can see everything very clear on the camera when it does record.
The problem is the battery life. The box states that the battery should last 3 months. Well I’m here to tell you that’s a big fat lie. I’ve had the camera 1 week and it’s already died on me. They obviously make it that way so you can buy their $60 solar panel which is ridiculous for the price of this camera. Overall I definitely love the camera, but not the idea of charging it weekly. If you buy this camera definitely get the solar panel, unless you have time on your hands to charge it weekly.

These Arlo cameras are easy to set up and are definitely worth the price. The trial subscription is also nice and very convenient too, but you don’t have to continue with it if you choose not to. You will however need to purchase a smart hub. Even then they are always are trying to persuade you to go back to the paid subscription. Battery life is decent with or without the subscription. Cameras also need to be connected to either a solar charger or direct power if you cancel out the subscription, in order to use the activity zones feature to filter out or in certain areas of the cameras view. I’ve attached a few snap shots of what the cameras helped me capture, I would have never known about without them,
