I was wary of coming into Valhalla out of a strong distaste for the direction that odyssey went in for AC’s last outing. However this entry steers more toward the precedent that Origins set three years ago and builds upon that fantastic experience. The world in Valhalla is large and engrossing, not to mention beautiful to look at. Missions are organic and the story is very well written.

Valhalla is awesome! I would say it is a mixture of Origins and Odyssey. A bigger world than Orgins but not as overwhelming as Odyssey could be. Also it is not just a re-skin with Vikings, there is new ways to play and things to do. The incredible attention to detail really brings the Viking atmosphere to life.

While I have not been a fan of the recent Assasain's Creed games, Valhalla mixes the best of the previous games, having a good amount of side missions that are enjoyable while maintaining a great main story. The free roam is rewarded and the graphics are beyond anything seen before.

Assassins Creed - Rivia ... errr ... Valhalla...

This is a beautiful game, and it runs smooth as silk on the Xbox Series X. It has all the trappings of an AC game ... assassinations, lots of climbing and jumping, hacking and slashing galore, endless dots on the map to explore and loot, tracking down illusive agents of a secret order, and the irritating present-day story line that pops up when you’d rather be blowing your Viking horn to launch a bloody raid on another unsuspecting abbey. But the same time, it looks and feels like like I’m navigating Geralt of Rivia through an alternative Norse existence ... minus all the skin (miss you, Triss). The life of a pillaging Viking invader bears little resemblance to the shadowy life of a member of an assassins order... and I’m fine with that. Medieval England before many of the remnants and ruins (real or imagined) of the Romans Emire were buried or knocked over is glorious, and the gameplay is wonderful. You will love the journey.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla blends old and new to create a unique experience and one of the best Assassin's Creed experiences yet. It combines series-best combat, a compelling story, and mesmerising locales to dually offer a definitive Viking and assassin experience.

Relatively new to the Assassin's Creed games, but so far I'm enjoying it. This is open world and so far so good. It does not feel as big as Assassin's Creed Odyssey if you played that, but running around as a Viking is a lot of fun.

The game is...large and buggy. Even with all the updates to adjust the glitches, it is the buggiest game in the series since Unity. Many quests do not work, NPC's do not do what they're supposed to do, lips don't move in cutscenes, there is a lot of screen tearing, etc. Having said all that, the game is a lot of fun, albeit oftentimes frustrating.

Amazing game, specially when played on the Xbox Series X. It loads fast in the new console and the graphics are great. Storyline and game play are really good and enjoyable. If you’re a fan of AC you will enjoy this new addition.

Great addition to the series. Looks great on the series x and runs smooth. Story is good, only thing bothering me is the fight mechanics. I feel it was better in last games where this one seems a bit more sluggish.

I’ve played every Assassins Creed since Brotherhood. It‘s fantastic how the series continues to evolve. Valhalla is an evolution from the previous two titles with its RPG-lite mechanics yet its bigger and in fresher more densely packed environments. Why I was initially saddened to leave the beautiful snow capped mountains of Norway I was soon pleasantly surprised with the very vibrant almost Witcher-esque fantasy environment of the 9th century British Isles. The fog, lighting and shading so beautiful I thought it had ray tracing. While some of the combat and actual task can get a little bit repetitive they do a good job of changing it up as each region has its own storyline and different objectives. The raids are a nice touch. The base game is nice and long yet holds my interest. The cinematics and scripted parts are very well done, as I come to expect from this enduring series.

This is an incredible game. I bought it to have something that would showcase the graphical power of the series X; a month later, this game has emerged as the front-runner as the best new game of this new console generation. I've played the first five Creed games (AC 1, 2, Revelations, Brotherhood, AC 3), but haven't played any of the middle of the series, where it starts to evolve. I was floored not only by the presentation of this title (it looks AMAZING), but also by the writing, the mechanics, the gameplay loop, the breadth of content. I never would have imagined that this would end up being one of my favorite games of the last five years. Do yourself a favor and get lost in it.

Long gameplay - lots of things to do that spans across a large open world. RPG element of leveling up skills is vast. Love the Viking lore as well! One of the best installments of the series.

I got this when it was on sale for 30 bucks and I’ve been having a lot of fun during my time playing it. (I’m in the second act, so fairly early) I have heard from other people that it can take around 50 hours to complete but the way the combat and loot system has changed from odyssey to Valhalla is what really makes this more fun for me. Not only this but the way the story is formed is actually really neat and has me connecting with characters a lot more than odyssey and origins. Definitely grab when it goes on sale, otherwise if you really want to play as a Viking assassin then go full price

The Assassins Creed series becomes more refined with each release. Popping this into a new Xbox Series X will treat the user to outstanding graphics and fun game play. Of note is the short load times. Past Creed games will have the user running in circles during the loading screen, that time is cut down to a few seconds of running around now before the level starts. Different regions are loaded seamlessly in the background with no stutter. Game play is boring at first as your character is very weak and can not pull off any special moves, but through upgrades you learn the ways of the Assassin and game play picks up. There are extremely challenging missions from the get go if you are willing to try but most of your time will be taken up with adventure and leveling up. Boat mechanics work well and the ability to raid villages is a new dynamic.

Very good game pay and if you are use to the Assassin's Creed storyline this does follow some of the same themes. The new way to earn skill points can be a bit overwhelmed at first but if you lift the fog of war quickly you will progress faster. Very Large map to explore. This is not a quick game to finish and you have a lot to do. The one drawback are the programming glitches within the game. Some are just annoying but others impact progress. I still would recommend to play if you like gameplay where you have to solve puzzles as you progress. I have over 200 hours of gameplay with 65% progress.

Asassins Creed Valhalla is a solid open world game from Ubisoft. The theming takes place in Scandinavia and England. I much prefer this region rather than the settings of Origins and Odyssey. The snow, foliage, water, and so forth all looking stunning on Series X. However, I also play the game on my One X and it looks as gorgeous on there too. The main benefit with Series X is 60fps vs 30fps on my One X. Overall, you can invest a lot of time, I have read around sixty hours to complete the main story, and a friend of mine has nearly 150 hours in the game now, trying to complete every little mission. Good game, Assassins Creed never feels completely refined to me like a Sony open world game or Breath of the Wild, but Ubisoft turns them out every couple years, so you have to expect they can't be perfect.

The best AC I've ever played

I'm 80 hours into Valhalla and I can easily say that it's the best AC game I've played to date. It ditches most of the old and outdated AC tendencies for new, refined, and engaging open-world gameplay. Pros: - Literally breathtaking map and graphics. - Engaging story, enjoyable characters. - Intuitive gameplay - Excellent historic perspective of Norse mythology. - You can get a cat for your raids. Cons: - It feels like someone dropped the skill tree. - The combat, especially in the beginning, is meh. - Has some technical glitches still.

There's a bit of a slow start but the game picks up and has pretty good mechanics. It's not a normal Assassin's Creed game since there's much less parkour but the story is still there and the map is huge.

Beautiful game, with an expansive world to explore. Combat is an improvement on the excellent system from the previous game, but stealth is a less viable option than before. Easily 80-100 hours long,
