This game has it all. A high speed chase that is one of the best openings to any game I’ve played, fun versatile combat, entertaining co-op, investigations what will make you think out of the box and a thrilling story involving different dimensions, missing persons, a ton of mechanic adversaries and more. Game of the year along with Luigis Mansion 3 for me.

I went into this game with high expectations and it surpassed my wildest dreams! Right from the start you are thrown in to a beautiful game with steady frame rate in hand held mode on the NINTENDO SWITCH! I can’t forget to mention that the game sound and music were immersive and relaxing! I played this game half in handheld and the other half docked!! Best game in about 30 hours! Can’t wait to replay soon!

i been playing this game for hours and i like it. i love the art style, the controls are great and feels good and the gameplay is awesome. there is a learning curve to get through at first and once you get past that the game is a blast to play. it's great on dock mode and port mode and i use both when i'm at home i go dock and i'm out i play portable. the one thing people should know is that this is a deep action game. if you put it down and don't play for a couple of days you will forget the game controls. it's that type of game. be aware of that. i miss the days when all you need to remember is the A button to shoot and the B button to jump. these days actions are so complicated you need to know how to code to understand how to play it. j/k of course, but you know what i mean. if you like action games and you are a switch owner you cannot past up Astral Chain. it's a must buy at best buy ;)

Ok, i'll start of by saying "this game is awesome!"
Gushing statement aside there are a few rocky spots to this game. Most of which come from weird translations and culture issues. The main problems show up during the investigation portions of the game. I don't want to give to much away but at the end of each investigation you'll be asked for your findings and some of the questions they ask are translated in a way that makes the right answer unclear. There's also some people may be turned off by the fact that there's a clear stop to the action every time you go investigate. That's not really a bad think but could turn some off to the game.
Now the good.
Music= awesome
Controls=Fighting controls are simple at first; almost to the point your like "is that it?". Then you get your legion and start unlocking skills and it becomes almost too much to remember everything you can do.
Visuals=some hate it, some love it. I like some parts hate others. I like the art style for Ark i don't like the bland red textures of the other world.
Story= good but there are some issues but i won't spoil it for you.
All in all, if you're a fan of action games like devil may cry or bayonetta, and investigation games like heavy rain or deadly premonitions; you might love this game.

I typically purchase nintendo first party games, lots of Mario, Luigi, Zelda etc. Astral Chain was a stretch for me but I'm so happy I took the plunge. The unique story, combined with a hype soundtrack and some intense combat kept me coming back for more. There is immense depth through customizations, battle strategies and non combat puzzles. A bit of a learning curve to get started and the chapters can run a little long if you like to play all the way through like I do. All and all a worthy new addition and a break from the norm.

I expect solid game play and over the top battles in Platinum game titles...and Astral Chain doesn't disappoint. I usually limit my game play to an hour or two per session. However, I find myself absorbed in the game and three hours pass before I know it. Story is fun, controls are solid, graphics are colorful, the action is a mix of relaxed and frantic. I hope they develop a sequel.

Fantastic hack n slash story game. This game is a really fun adventure game. Their is a second character/beast that you control at the exact same time so the gameplay is fun and exciting. A little bit of a learning curve but satisfying. It's a sci Fi story with great pacing. Definitely recommend this game, especially if you like Bayonetta style of games.

Great fast paced combat is what I always expect from Platinum Games. What I wasn't expecting is for their trademark to be paired with police investigation missions. These can range heavily from tracking down prints left by Chimera, finding hidden rifts to the Astral Plane, rescuing cats, and even more tradiational situations where you're chasing after a suspect. The huge difference in combat for this game would be the Astral Chain itself. You can sync up with the multitude of legions and switch between them on the fly. Choosing to fight together or on separate enemies. It gets extremely intense and due to this the game has several mechanics to make dealing with enemies fun and rewarding based on good gameplay and movement. The story doesn't dissapointment either, giving you many characters, locations, and plot points to follow around the last remaining people of the human race fighting against the Chimera invasion. Controls are tight and responsive, character customization is in depth, and you can even change the color of your legions. It's the complete package and I expect no less from Platinum Games.

Platinum Games has delivered another hit. Their trademark character action style is back in Astral Chain, and, while slower than Bayonetta or Metal Gear Rising, it delivers the same thrills.
While the gameplay, controls, music, and visuals are all stunning, my one major complaint is about the game's performance. It runs at a generally stable 30 fps, but there are certain sections with noticeable performance drops. It is not a major problem, but there are times where it can be frustrating. Here's hoping they can improve that aspect in a sequel.

This game is an amazing feat on the Switch. It looks great, runs well, and controls just like you would expect a Platinum game would. But beyond being impressive for the hardware the game is running on, it is also just a great game period. The story is relatively interesting, the game is plenty long, and replayability is extensive, with more difficulties available, plenty of hidden secrets along the way, and ranked battles giving you the ability to jump in and try to beat your last performance without redoing the whole mission. Overall, it's a blast and it actually looks pretty good on a big TV as well as in portable mode. If this is part of a trilogy as rumors have suggested, it is a great start.
There are multiple difficulty modes, so if you're not the best at action games you can still enjoy it. Controls are done pretty well but every button is used on the controller, and there are multiple modifiers as well. Probably not suitable for young children (maybe under 10) due to the controls.

3rd favorite game on the switch behind only zelda BTOW and splatoon 2. The game has great music, story is interesting and combat is good. Still need to beat the last boss the game is really hard and really hard if you play on the hardest difficulty.

The art direction is top-notch from Platinum Games, as the cyberpunk aesthetic starts off right from the intro sequence. The game is pure eye-candy. The combat is fun and easy to get the hang of. The astral chain game mechanic is fun, a bit challenging at first, but the game forces you through training that gives it a very low learning curve. Unlike a lot of action, fighting games, this one is forgiving if you want it to be. The story is getting pretty interesting, there's a good mix of puzzles, fighting, and story. A very good start to the first few hours of gameplay.

An underrated great game for sure. Great action, but a few stealth parts and some annoying side quests take away a little bit from it imo.
Still, I'd definitely recommend this game to anyone who likes action 3-d games. Be also aware that to see everything, you pretty much will have to do a replay. Which may be a plus or minus depending on your preferences.

An action game that keeps on giving from start to finish.
-Beautiful cyberpunk graphics.
-Blood-pumping soundtrack.
-Awsome memorable characters, and voice acting.
-Tight and satisfying controls.
-Extremely diverse gameplay that improves the more you play.
My main gripe with this game is the story. Good and well-paced but very generic and predictable at times. The beginning is also very slow. These cons are minor when compared to everything else Astral Chain does right. If you're a gameplay first kind of player then you cannot and will not go wrong with this one.

This game is fantastic. Visuals are stunning both docked and undocked. Music is a constant pleasure to listen to and makes you want to find out if there is a soundtrack. Story is interesting and keeps you going and also there are a lot more customization options than it seems like there will be at the beginning of the game. I would recommend this game for anyone that enjoys story driven action games.

This was the 2nd game I played on the Switch and WOW am I impressed. It has great intense action and story. The movements can get complex at times, but worth learning. I can see why this title ranked among the best of the year. From the beginning, it gets gripping. A must play title.
