I am a full time streamer on Twitch and I would get complaints that I was too quiet and no one could hear me, so I went to Best Buy dropped a few hundred bucks and boom everyone loved the new headset because they could finally hear me.

Although it is a bit pricey it is definitely worth the money. The Astros a40 doesn't provide the best sound quality but it is better then most other headset. Its also comfortable and convenient to use while gaming

I purchased these headphones for my grandson. He told me they were the best set of headphones he has had. The sound quality is excellent. He also likes the way they fit his head and are very comfortable on his ears.

If you never had Astro's b4, they are a good gaming headset tuned for gaming. There are plenty of reviews out there about sound quality.
Long story short, they sound good.... For gaming. Not so much music.
Now about the headset. The headset color is not so great, you probably won't be wearing these in public places. But the design is killer, like some cool anime headset. The build quality and materials are excellent, the plastic is nice and bendy, I don't feel like I have to baby them. The pads are cloth/velour, the 3.5mm seems flimsy, but time will tell. Comfort is awesome, don't let the thin strip of head padding fool you, the light weight of these headphones is good for long gaming sessions. The earcups swivel and the velour pads keep ears from getting way hot.
Now for the mixamp, I'm a bit disappointed. It looks really nice but but has a few shortcomings. First is it uses the battery from yr controller. ( not that big a deal) second, there are 3 sound modes that do very little to enhance the experience for me. Might be diff for you. Third, there is no surround sound. To their credit, they never said it had it. Fourth, the volume does not go high enough, again for me. And fifth, the worst thing for me is that the 3.5mm cable is permanently attached to the mixamp. I switch from headphones to my stereo all the time and don't like a dangling cord from the mixamp. Its also not that easy to take the mixamp off. I would prefer the cable was removable, then I would leave the mixamp on all the time. And because of that, I use the a40 with the Xbox one stereo headset adapter.
Also one more thing to note is that if you lose or break the extra cable it is not something you can pick up at the store. The 3.5mm connector that go's into the headset has a 5 pole connector. Not very common. Using a different cable will result in sound from one ear only. Thanks for reading.

Great Headphones... with one Caveat

I have struggled trying to find the perfect set of headphones to use with my XBox One. I have tried about everything out there most notably the Turtle Beach wireless 500x and new 800x. The Turtle beach model hurt my head. No adjustment would help. I am a bald guy and wear glasses, finding headphones with ear cups that do not smash the stems or just plain hurt... real tough. Anyway..I have tried the Astro A40 and A50s in the past... while I was in a whirlwind try and return seemingly endless cycle.
Here I am a year later and thought I would give the A40s another look. I think originally I really wanted wireless and felt the TB 800x would be worth waiting for. What I can say... nothing beats the Astro A40/A50 fit and comfort.. PERIOD. The sound on the A40 is excellent and I don't really mind that they are not wireless. I have an Elite controller and had no issues with the MixAmp that comes with them (that plugs into the controller).
All that said, I took them back for ONE reason. I found I really miss surround sound. I have a 7.1 system.. I missed being able to differentiate someone behind me or direction around me. I knew they were not surround when I purchased, but wondered if I would miss it.... I did.
I am still giving these 5 stars as not having surround is not a fault or failure... just a feature these don't/can't do. I picked up the A50s to replace these and will review shortly.

First off let me just say I haven't owned a lot of different headphones to compare these to but am very picky with audio devices. Overall very impressed with the quality of build materials, fairly sturdy with plenty of adjustment. Very comfortable for extended gaming sessions on the ears. They do not block out sounds from your surroundings but I prefer that so I can still talk to someone in the same room without haven't to touch the headset. Sound quality is great but surely cant compare to real speakers. The sound quality is more then enough for intense gaming and plenty loud to make your games feel life like. Great if your listening for footsteps and trying to get an edge on your enemies. The volume adjustments with the built in mix amp are super easy to use and work great. The only real cons I have think of are they are very expensive for what they are, but if they last for years to come its a great investment, and randomly when my batteries are low or if I stray to far from my xbox I will get a very annoying and loud electronic chirp. Might be a way to fix this but I have yet to figure it out on my own.

This product makes your game, music, etc. Sound great! I love that you can switch which side you want your microphone on, which is a plus for me. Normally I don't like headphones because they are not comfy at all, but these headphones are very comfy and I do not mind them at all. I actually love them.

I tried multiple headsets before this one and the other ones either would give me headaches or hurt my ears after an hour or two. This one doesn't, it fits great and is very comfortable. Sound is great and mic works perfectly. I got them on sale when they were $50 off. One issue is the price but definitely well worth the money if you can spend it.

Best gaming headsets money can buy. I was hesitant to spend that kind of money on a pair of headsets and now I don't regret it at all, these headsets are amazing. Great sound quality and quality design they look great and they are also really comfortable I can barely feel them on my head. I wear them for hours of gaming and zero discomfort.

I mostly play multiplayer games exclusively so a headset is a requirement in my book. My Xbox One stereo headset died and I needed a new one. A lot of my friends had Astros and after much pestering I gave into peer pressure and bought these. They are awesome! They are also $200. This is the most comfortable headset I've owned. It also has the best sound quality. But it costs $200. I'm not a big fan of the color scheme but it's aesthetically pleasing. It has a built in 3 preset EQ which is cool I guess but it didn't seem to do much for me. The mute button is LED lit in red when depressed. That's cool. But it's $200.
Bottom line; If you have $200 to spend on the most comfortable, best sounding, headset then do yourself a favor and get these but you probably would be just as happy with a $50-$75 pair.

This headset delivers very good sound and is comfortable. Seems to be well built as I have used it for 2 months with no problems. My only concern is with the game and in game chat volume controls, not the easiest but they do work. Overall still a 5.

I bought this for my son for Christmas and I have used it. He seems to love and the sound is great and the only thing he doesn't seen to like is the chord isn't very long and it attached to the controller and drains the battery fast.

I had wanted Astros for a while and finally pulled the trigger. They sound great, are super comfortable, made well and are insanely expensive. Honestly, they would have gotten 5 stars had they been wireless. There may be comparable headsets out there that are cheaper, I haven't found them yet though.

After purchasing these head phones I was stocked to use them, amazing sturdy design with amazing silver and blue coloring and the metal parts make it seem like it would last a life time. Mic was good and the connecting/ equalizer piece was a cool add on. Those are my good points after using them though for a bit I noticed the sound quality was not on par with what I'm used to using and it would also skipped during seatrain section of the games sound and voice chat almost sounded like static being received here and there from and old car radio. I may just be the exception with this glitch and plan to return them and try again with the same ones today and hopefuly not have this problem again maybe they were defective the ones I got I it happens again will going back and getting the Turtle beach 420X Over-the-Ear Wireless Gaming Headset - Black/Green. I've had a great experience with turtles before so why not go back if the next A40s are bad I hope it was a defective set I had gotten. But if not I will just copy and past the pros and cons in this review and recommend to not get them if you don't like your in game and voice chat sound being distorted.

I bought these headphones for my wife, as she needed an upgrade from X11s. She thinks they're fantastic and has even bought ear covers to go with them.
But, when I put them on, don't get me wrong, they are good, crisp, and work great. But I guess I set my expectations high when hoping to be blown away by 7.1 surround sound. Then again, it could be just the games. But, I highly recommend them.
One thing people should know, as I did search and search online for answers for this question. They are powered by the battery in your controller! They don't drain all that bad. Maybe take a few hours off play time each switch. Well worth it, if you have multiple chargeable batteries and or Xbox one battery packs.

Bought this for my boyfriend and I am going by his words. He loves it, he has owned turtle beaches but unfortunately our new puppy decided it was a chew toy when he walked away. So this time we wanted to try something a little more pricey than turtle beaches. He says it is definitely worth the extra money. Totally comfortable for those who play for hours. He says they are light so its not a drag, he previously owned wireless ones but bc this was pricey enough we decided on the corded one, but they do not make a difference he says and a big perk is he doesn't have to worry about charge.

As a gamer and having used Astros at the modern warfare 3 beta convention in L.A. i just knew i had to own a pair of these for myself. But is it really worth $300? Yes, if these headphones ever break i will get them replaced immediately. The description does not lie. You can hear everything around you. Even the environmental sounds such as the birds in battlefield 4. The mixamp works very perfectly for intense games that just get too loud. Several of my friends are now saving for these amazing headphones. My gaming has improved greatly since i have owned them. I highly recommend investing into a pair of these.

I have used several headsets before. Nothing like this headset though. This headset feels amazing compared to Turtle Beach headsets. Its so much lighter, feels more comfortable. Sound quality is amazing. Only thing i dont like is where they placed the headphone jack on the headset. It sits underneath the left ear almost hitting my shoulder. This could become annoying. But doesnt effect functionality. I would buy this headset again!
