RAM Upgrade Helped With Slowness
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got my M509DA-RS21 in Septembers 2021 not at Best Buy). Like many other reviewers I had an issue with slowness. To get around that I had the installed RAM upgraded from 8 to 12 GB (I would have preferred 16, but 12 was the best they could do); that helped greatly. I agree with most of the positives I've read. A potential negative is the "wall wart" power adapter that Sticks out considerably from the outlet into which it is plugged. That type of adapter is easily knocked out of the outlet, which can bend the prongs. That happened to the adapter for an older Asus model: while I was on a flight I got up, bumped the adapter out of its outlet, and bent one of the prongs. I was still able to use the adapter, but after that kept it at home and got a generic “brick” format adapter from the store whence I had got that laptop. The M509DA comes with a similar but smaller adapter, which I plan to keep at home. For travel I just bought an Asus U65W-01 universal adapter, which I plan to use as the travel adapter.
