This laptop is lightweight, versatile and remarkably fast. I love the touch screen. It is accurate and very convenient. The keyboard is responsive, the armrest is comfortable. I can upgrade the memory to 8GB and the OS to W10. At this price this laptop is a bargain.

PROs: Nice screen, awesome price, lightweight, Windows10 pre-installed.
CONs: Know that it IS slow moving, which makes no sense - considering components.
Overall: Good computer for web-surfing, email, and Office programs (at a great price). NOT a computer for games, or impatient users. It fit my needs well, and is a good & inexpensive back-up.

Not a bad little laptop; nice big screen. The processor is fairly limited in its power, though. This is great for about 90% of people - who just surf the internet and check email and Facebook. Nice big screen (did I mention that before?) makes the computing experience pleasurable. Hard drive at 500 GB is very nice. Holds a lot of photos, movies and music. For the price, it's a winner.

I bought this on black friday. The price was 139.99 and I am very pleased. All I needed was a laptop to watch movies on and use internet and e mail.Yes it is a little slow [1.6] but whats a couple seconds anyway? For all you get, ie win 10, optical r+w drive,4 gigs of ram, and 500 g hard drive it was a steal.Asus built a very well made and nice looking laptop for a great price.I have been useing it for 30 days now and every thing seems to work.I read reviews on this item before purchase and after and I think some folks just expected more than this item can deliver.Asus support has been very good as I called twice to ask a few guestions and they took care of me very quickly.Lastly I have to thank Best Buy for such timley delivery.I ordered this item at 1.45 am on on thur11-26-15.I recieved it on mon 11-30-15 at 10.30 am.Nice work Best Buy.

I bought this laptop during Black Friday. I had been needing a laptop and the price was too great to pass up. This is a good basic computer for those on a budget. It gets the job done and has plenty of room for storage, which was part of the reason I bought it. That being said, do not expect to be dazzled by this laptop, it has an "entry level" processor and you definitely notice this doing certain tasks. I also am not a fan of the built in mouse pad, the button are pretty hard to push and loud. Overall though this is great for what it was designed to be, a basic laptop for those on a budget. I will say in comparison I got my mom the HP laptop that's about the same price, same hard drive and memory and I do prefer hers.

Bought this on black friday on a doorbusters special for $ 139.00. Seems to be a pretty decent machine.... 4gb ram, 500 gb HD, and a DRVR drive. Have it connected to a 24 inch samsung monitor and a wireless keyboad/mouse. Not a lot of connections (only 2 usb ports), one RGB and one HDMI, but so far seems a pretty good machine for basic tasks..not super-fast, but fine for email, internet, and basic office functions.....if you can get it for lesss than $ 200, a good buy

When I first got this laptop I hated it. It was too slow and it couldn't get out of its own way. After reading other people's reviews I did what many of them suggested and removed the MacAfee antivirus software and used the already built in Windows defender. Since removing that along with some of the other junk software programs Asus want to force you to use it ran great. I planed on returning it but figured I'd try this first and I'm glad I did because it does exactly what I expected it to do now. It's not a Mercedes but it gets the job done. Overall for $169 it's great!

Great laptop. Suitable even for professional use - I wouldn't run photoshop on it, but thanks to 4GB of RAM and full size keyboard it's great for writing emails and browsing. I do quite a bit of IT support and bought it as my main work laptop because it seems to be made of good quality plastic, it's pretty lightweight, possesses (unlike many laptops nowadays) an array of ports (including usb 3.0, hdmi output and a lan port) and as an added bonus it has a dvd drive. Also it's very affordable - it's very nice to throw the laptop in a hurry into a backpack and not worry about it being scratched or damaged. Just have backups and buy another one :)
After I bought the laptop I checked the reviews on bestbuy and found many people were unhappy with the celeron processor in the laptop. But I am pretty confident the processor is able to deliver satisfying experience. It does seem to be slow at the beginning. Ask your computer savvy friends to tune it up for you - I'd have mcafee antivirus removed along with most asus utilities (some people find them useful though).
Unfortunately this model comes with a hard drive instead of a ssd. It definitely offers more storage but I'd have opted for a better speed instead. The screen is of average quality, but gets the job done.
After having said all of the above, I will probably have to return my laptop because of a defect - it works perfectly fine only withing 6 feet from a wifi router. If I move a little further the signal gets completely lost. I have seen such behavior before - usually it means that a wifi card's antenna that goes around a screen is worn or not connected. Unfortunately in my case one of the antenna's ends doesn't even come out from the screen and I don't want to spend time taking apart the laptop completely to get it fixed. I really hope my bestbuy store has one of these as an open box or something, because the last time I checked they offered only a refund, but no replacement.
I hope this information helps someone. 4 stars only because I got it defective - otherwise it would be solid 5 stars.

Awesome laptop, especially for the price (under $200). Good size screen, user friendly Windows 10, and plenty of ports for add-ons. Check the specs, hard to argue dollar for dollar that it's not worth the value. Perfect for kids/new users, or the non-computer literate who just need basic computer function. Better than a chrome book, and when you factor the similar price, it's not even a question. For those requiring speed, this computer might not be for you. Can be a tad slow loading. That's pretty much my only complaint.

It does appear very speedy and has a better wifi antenna than my last two laptops.
The screen is excellent
The 500 GB hard drive is fantastic.
The keyboard is a little ambiguous.
There is no indicator light for either the number pad or caps lock.
And it's hard to tell where the front is so you know where to open it. If you leave it open most the time, it doesn't really matter..

It is an all inclusive laptop and great value for the price. It is lighter than comparable laptops, has an onscreen keyboard and a good size hard drive. Downside is the slow speed and a limited RAM that is not expandable.

I will not compare this computer to a $1000 computer. So my review hopefully will give you a reasonable idea of what your getting and paying for.
Many reviews I read for this laptop said that it was horrible. But as far as I could tell those reviews were based off seemingly very high expectations for a very basic computer. This definitely is not the best computer in the world but it isn't the worst either. It only cost me $250 so I'm really not allowed to throw a fit if something acts up because it's just a cheap basic computer that I bought for mostly basic things (internet browsing, watching movies, and a couple programs).
This has a Intel celton processor which yes compared to new technology is definitely on the slower side. But for basic things this is really not a big deal. I can't say I'm a computer nerd or anything, but I know a reasonable amount to be able to say that as long as you aren't using this for gaming, running many programs all at once and going back and forth between them all, that this is overall a good computer for its price.
I have had a few minor issues but nothing to cry about.
1. Occasionally the headphone jack either doesn't recognize that my headphones are either plugged in or out when I have recently used my headphones in the jack. So basically sometimes I put my headphones in and the sound will continue to play through the speakers, or vice versa. I take them out and the computer thinks there still in. Not a big deal, sometimes I just have to plug it in and out a couple times and it fixes itself. This may only be a problem with my computer.
2. Sometimes when watching things through Netflix as an example, sometimes the image of what I'm watching will freeze and the sound will continue. After a few seconds the image does catch up. This does happen occasionally but not enough for me to say it's a major problem. It's just a minor annoyance from time to time. I can't really say that it's an issue with my internet because I don't have this same problem when streaming from my phone, which obviously has a faster processor.
3. As I mentioned earlier running too much is not a good idea. It will cause the computer to freeze up a little. Again this is a very basic computer with an older processor compared to what's out there, so if you need to run more than a couple programs at a time and you need to flip back and forth between them, I wouldn't recommend this computer.
Overall I really have no complaints about this computer. I knew I couldn't set the bar to high as it is a cheaper model. But for what I'm using it for it works just fine. So if you decide to buy this, keep in mind how much your spending and what your getting in return. It's a good computer for basic everyday tasks. If you need something that does anything more than that don't buy this model and then cry that it sucks and it's a price of junk. It's not a price of junk, you just need to consider your needs and take them into consideration while doing research on a model that will suit your needs.
I would definitely recommend this product.

I bought this laptop for my 13 year old son for Christmas and he loves it. It's only been about a month, but so far, so good. It's not a high end, super fast gaming laptop, but it gets the job done and he's learning a lot. It's a good solid laptop for a great price!

I saw this on sale and thought it was perfect to replace my Mother's dead laptop, and it appears to be a godsend so far! Got to Best Buy for the door busters and scooped it up in time to gift it in person just before Thanksgiving dinner!
It had to go through several updates for windows (and it took hours to complete all the updates) but I got it up and running before the night was over, and it runs beautifully! Very quick so far and my mother absolutely loves it! I will update this if she runs into any problems down the road, but I am very thankful this was available at such a great price!

My first thoughts of this product was ASUS should pay me for buying this item. It was very, very slow. I changed my mind about returning it after some tweaking it by removing some of the apps and not using the mouse touchpad. I also can use a HDMI cable and connect it to the television for a larger screen or just to watch television. It is another reason I did not return it. I am not tech savvy The laptop was inexpensive. I did not have to wait in line to purchase the laptop. I bought the laptop online. I do not like the mouse. If my hand accidently touch the left side of the mouse touchpad, it will sometimes cause the zoom to change. Even though the zoom was at the default setting it would change to very small zoom of about 25% or increase the zoom to over 200%. When started using another mouse instead the touchpad this problem with the zoom stop. I removed some of the apps that were already installed. I use a wired or wireless mouse. When I started using the wired/wireless mouse the laptop was at faster speed. The battery I think is not removable. I think this is the laptop which had a paper enclosed with it showing that the battery is not removable I am not 100% sure if this is the laptop. It could had been referring to another ASUS product which does not has a removable battery. I did not see the specifications on the website that would show the battery is not removable. If battery is not removable the rating would may be decrease for me.When I look @ how long it will be before I need to recharge the battery there is a glitch or something because it will show 6 hours then if I look again it might say 9 hours before I need to recharge. This laptop does not has the light which will indicate capitalization. I have not use the DVD player so I can not comment on it. I can connect the laptop to my television.
