Been going pretty hard, at least for my standards. Plays all of the games I enjoy, renders videos well and zero hiccups or issues so far. Glad to finally be back into some PC gaming.

It's a pretty good gaming laptop. I enjoy it so far, and a huge thanks to our Caesar's Bay team for helping to chose this one, and with a generous discount as it was an open box unit.
I think one of the good way to review this product would be a list of goods and bads:
Pros:
- Very fast boot times, with M.2 SSD primary drive.
- 1TB of storage for games and media (Upgrading this one to SSD later:))
- 16GB of Memory, always good to have a good amount.
- Core i7 Processor, good to see in this price range.
- GeForce GTX 1060, glad they didn't ruin it sticking 1050 in this model.
- RGB Keyboard back light, to fit the mood or the rest of the setup.
- Good screen.
Cons:
- Heavy , which actually understandable with extra heat pipes and construction in general, but might be an issue for some.
- Graphics Card even tho it's GTX 1060, on this model has only 3GB of memory.
- Heating... high end thermal paste can help, but right out of the box, laptop runs hot during demanding tasks.
- Loud , due to a bit of a heating issue, both fans get loud.
- Illumination on the keyboard even on highest setting is very bright(Pro for me tho), but in dark environment is not bad.
Overall runs pretty much anything you want, as long as you don't expect high end desktop performance out of mid range gaming laptop. With just a bit of lowering the setting in games, runs smooth and very enjoyable. Happy with it, and very well set for a mid range.

This computer is a monster, great graphics, very fast and powerful processor, SSD is great to quickly boot your computer, plus the 1TB HDD is great for storing whatever you want, there are only 2 cons, battery life is around 2-3 hrs no matter if you're playing or not any video-games, it drains very fast and it's a bit noisy

Great gaming Laptop

So this is a great gaming laptop. It has a SSD and an Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060. Great Graphics, I can run Destiny 2, Diablo3, and WoW at high settings and not drop any frames. I usually get 100+ while running any of the above mentioned games. It comes with ROG software that allows you to customize the RGB lighting on the keyboard. These are all great pluses to have when it comes to a gaming laptop.
Now for the negatives, which I am sad to say are quite a few.
The laptop can run on battery power for about an hour and a half at maximum gaming settings. That is not much when you think about how much game you can get after turning it on and loading a game and then finding a group you want to run something with.
So the battery life on this is not great. But of course if you have access to a steady power supply you will be fine.
The next thing are the fans, they are loud and even when I dropped my settings reduced my screen brightness and turned off the RGB lighting they still were constantly reminding me they were on.
The last negative is the sound. I don't expect much of a great sound experience when playing using the built-in speakers. But to be honest, I can barely hear the sound from the game when I am at max volume due to the fans muffling any sound coming out.
Here is the kicker though, I would still buy the same laptop again if I had a choice. The reason being if you are a gamer all of these things you can deal with or not even worry about.
I generally game with a headset on anyway. The only time I don't is if the wifey and I are chilling in the same room. I want to be able to hear what she says so naturally I take the headset off.
I use the laptop mainly at home. So being connected to a constant source of power is not a big thing to me.
So it is great at what it does, provides mobile gaming around the house when I don't want to me tied to my desktop.

It's a well put together gaming pc awesome display and sound, I have noticed only one thing my wife has an Alienware laptop with the same exact specs, she can play world of warcraft and the fans hardly cvome on but the Asus seems like the fans work a lot harder to keep it cool. But other then that it's a spectacular gaming PC.

The laptop is great for what it advertises. The only gripe I have with it is that it seems that it heats up too much. I would advise getting some sort of cooling unit to go with it to help keep it cool while using it. 4.5 / 5.

Struggles with premiere pro 4k editing

It does OK with 4k editing using premiere pro cc, but it sounds crazy and gets really hot. It fails when scrubbing through timelines with minimal adjustments made to layers. Does great with lower resolution footage.
I've struggled with the portability of this laptop as well... it's big and so is the power brick. I've also had issues with sleep mode locking with the only solution to restart the laptop.
Overall I felt it was priced well below other laptops with similar components and has proved to be durable enough for transporting around in my backpack for over a year now.
Coming from a Toshiba satellite, that had multiple manufacturer defects that left me without a laptop during repairs, I'm happy with this asus's build quality.

I had settled on finding a laptop for 800-1000$. I had watched many on line reviews before settling on 2 brands the 3rd was out of my price range. I played with the Dell and HP that were in my price range. The BB employee that questioned me about my needs answered all questions, and I said I would think about it. Where the same employee pulled out this laptop from under the counter. The price was pretty close to what I had in mind, so I pulled the trigger. Couldn't be happier Its so much easier to edit photos on and rip music, OK I had to buy an additional remote DVD/CD burner. Not a big issue as its a huge improvement over what I had. don't expect great battery life as this things a beast.

Was looking to spend under 1000 for a new laptop with an Nvidia card.
This one was on sale for $1049.99 with the 1060 and a 120hz refresh rate screen. Couldn't pass that up.
Cons. It does run hot.. it does make noise when gaming w fans on. Should buy a good headset so you don't hear it..yes..

I got this computer as a return/open box item and wanted to see if it was worth the money. Comparing it to the HP Omen they had of similar price as an open box I chose this one as it has a better feeling keyboard to me and I plan on using it for my coding work. The i7 processor and 16gb of ram means that I can open anything I want and run multiple development projects concurrently.

Needed something with a little more kick than the basic models to run cad programs. While it does run all my programs well, just not for long on battery which I had anticipated. I did not anticipate the consumption would be so quick, being plugged in is not an option, it's a must.

I am currently using this for my work and does everything I need it to. Great performance and multitasking. The one negative thing I would say is the battery life..I am getting about 2 hours of battery life which sucks for a laptop, but it is a higher performance laptop so I guess this is why.

I bought this to play games on but I also use it for school work. It is fast and user friendly. The sleep mode is a bit buggy but not really a deal breaker. The screen is not as bright as I'd like it to be but I guess that's also a good thing. The keyboard color is programmable.
