    Great Value and Great Computer

The Asus q325 is a great value, rocking 16GB memory and a 512 GB SSD - compared to 8 / 256 for most competitors at the same price. I was pleased to find great build quality in a very light but solid-feelng chassis. The screen is gorgeous and bright, though it needed color calibration. I had my doubts about the thin fingerprint reader - but it works well. Most surprising is the battery life. To me, combining an I7 processor with a 39 mWh battery sounds like a recipe for disaster. But Asus has incorporated superb power management. It idles at 4-5 mW compared to 6-7 for my other I7 laptop. Even with a browser window open to one of the obnoxious news sites with tons of javascript running, it uses about 25% less power. Maybe the throttling affects some high utilization applications, but I've found it to be responsive with all the software I run. Also, I have poor eyesight and can't set the brightness of most laptops below 70%. The Asus screen is so bright and has such good contrast that I can comfortably run it at 40%. The bottom line is that I can get a true 6-7 hours of programming, compiling, browsing and some video usage. For a computer this light, I'm totally satisfied with that. I only get 4 hours with the same usage on my Surface Pro 4. I also like that Asus includes a small USB dock. I wish it had a micro SD slot, but that's about my only complaint. I'm totally satisfied.

    Exceeded Expectations

I've owned my ASUS Q325UA for two weeks. My only complaints are that the web cam is horrible and it does show smudges from your fingers. I read a few reviews that stated that it is not bad with smudges so maybe it is just me. Other than that it has exceeded my expectations in every way. It is incredibly light and compact, it feels very sturdy with what I believe to be an aluminum casing all around. It is incredibly fast with the impressive hardware which you will not find in another device in this price range. The keyboard is backlit and it comes with almost no bloatware which is not the case with most of the laptops you will find these days. This is my second ASUS laptop. I purchased an ASUS gaming laptop 3 years ago and I have been blown away with both. If you are on the fence, definitely purchase this laptop. You won't be disappointed.

The computer is quite amazing, tiny and fast. The screen is brilliant for what it is, and the keyboard is great (backlit or non backlit). The speakers are amazing. Issue is, the i7 in a computer this small. It gets unbearably hot even during initial updates. Reccomendations from HP, get a cooling pad. NO I wanted a nice small computer. Although I hate to do so, I will be returning it. But for those that want one, it really is awesome minus the heat. Everything about it. The speakers especially, but along with the speed and keyboard it is an amazing device. The laptop does do great with light solidworks use! It is just that it gets way too hot during normal use, whether that is during updates, or just browsing. My wife touched the computer and said "OW why would you do that", so yes, that hot. If you don't mind the heat, or will have cooling pad, GO FOR IT, it is amazing.

    Amazing Laptop in Every Way

So when I went to Best Buy I initially walked out with the Lenovo Yoga 720. Fast forward 4 days and I took the Lenovo back to Best Buy and walked out with this beauty. It was on sale at the time and with the student discount and the trade in value from my 7 year old Macbook pro I only paid around $800 out the door for this laptop. Let me tell you though that this laptop is worth every bit $1200 and I really think it could be priced around $1500 and I would still buy it. Let me talk about some of the things that really make this laptop shine. 1) Build Quality: This thing is every bit as slim if not slimmer than the Macbook Air but has i7, twice the RAM, and twice the SSD. To top it all off it can be used as a tablet as well! 2) The Screen/Sound: The screen on this is beautiful. Great colors and brightness. The sound is also remarkably good for how small this thing is. 3) The Battery: This is probably my favorite thing about this laptop. This battery is awesome on this thing, not as good as a Macbook Air but still awesome and plenty longer than I need. I can easily get 8 hours out this thing which is phenomenal (to me). 4) The Keyboard: Coming from a Macbook Pro, I was definitely drawn to the Lenovo Yogas keyboard which had a similar feel and travel as the Macbook did. However, this keyboard is totally different and at first I didn't like it, but I must say that it has really grown on me. The keys are actually bigger and there is less space in between the keys which actually allows for better typing accuracy, which helps a poor typist like me. One Complaint: While the touchpad is really responsive and big, I have noticed that when I lay my hands on the keys to type, the edges of my palms rest ever so slightly on the corners of the trackpad and can cause the mouse to move around on the screen. Now this could just be the way that I type but I have never experienced this on any other laptop and it is kind of annoying. Not a deal breaker of course, but still a nuisance. Concluding thoughts: This laptop is well worth the money and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. There really is nothing better than this laptop in its price range.

Great Performance, But Build Quality Issues

    Posted .

To review the Asus q325ua (what a catchy name!), I want to offer a comparison between it and the Asus Zenbook 3 (i5, 8gb, 256gb), which I am replacing with the q325ua. (The Zenbook 3 had a defective battery and the two computers cost roughly the same amount, so I decided to go with the higher performing machine). BUILD QUALITY: The q325ua has decent build quality. It is very thin and light and made of aluminum, but it has a lot of flex throughout the body. The metal seems thin, and it is easy to make it bend. For instance, it is distressingly simple to bend the frame when pressing down on the body just above the function keys. There is also more flex in the lid than I care for. The q325ua looks premium in many ways—I find the matte gray more attractive than the Zenbook 3’s concentric circle and gold highlight design—but it’s build quality really is a step below most premium laptops like the HP Spectre x360, the Yoga 910, and any MacBook. Is it good enough, strong enough? Yes, I think so. But I will be using a case for the laptop when putting it in my bag. The Zenbook 3, however, is incredibly sturdy. It is even thinner and lighter, and yet it is perfectly rigid with only the slightest bit of flex in the lid. Everything about it screams topnotch construction and luxury. SCREEN: The q325ua has a totally adequate, better than average screen. However, I do get some light bleed from the bottom corners. At 1080p, pictures are sharp enough but not perfectly crisp. Colors seem accurate for the most part. Contrast is good enough, too. For my purposes, the screen will never bother me, though I doubt I will ever look at it with awe. It gets bright enough, but some extra brightness would be useful. Compared to the Zenbook 3’s 1080p screen and you notice some differences. There is zero light bleed on the Zenbook 3. Whites are truer, blacks deeper, and colors pop with real life. It’s just a lovely, lively screen. It, too, however could stand some additional brightness, but it is ultimately bright enough. Now, the Zenbook 3 does not have a touch screen or pen input. I can live without those things easily, but having them can be useful. The Zenbook 3 also does not flip around into a tablet, and while I rarely use that feature, its nice to have when you want it. KEYBOARD AND TRACKPAD: The q325ua wins here. The combination of bigger keys, more space, and deeper key travel make they typing experience superior to the Zenbook 3, which has only .8mm key travel and a somewhat cramped design. I find typing on this computer very pleasant, and I often have to type long documents. The track pad is also better on the q325ua. It is smooth and responsive and features a nice firm click when depressing the buttons. On the Zenbook 3, the trackpad is smaller, though still very smooth and responsive. The click, however, is really mushy and its often hard to tell if you’ve pressed hard enough. PERFORMANCE: Both computers perform well. On Geekbench 3, the q325ua earned an overall score 7708 vs the Zenbook 3 score of 6651. And on Passmark the q325ua earned a score of 2993 vs the Zenbook 3 score of 2752. The Zenbook 3 has the faster PCIe storage vs the SATA 3 storage in the q325ua. But with the i7 and the 16gb of RAM in the q325ua, it easily pulls ahead of the Zenbook 3. However, the more expensive Zenbook 3 with the i7 and 16gb of RAM should outperform the q325ua. In everyday use, the q325ua just feels snappier, and it will be more capable the of heavy lifting required for photo editing, music production, etc. For most people, however, an i5 with 8gb of RAM is more than enough power. FINAL THOUGHTS: The q325ua is great computer that performs well and types well, but it does have some build quality weaknesses and a merely adequate screen. Other computers with the same or similar specs—the Zenbook 3 (i5 or i7), the HP Spectre x360, the Lenovo Yoga 910 all have superior build quality and screens. But to get the i7 16gb ram combo found in the q325ua, you’ll have to spend closer to $1500 dollars. If you’ve got the money, I would choose those other computers for the sake of the better build quality alone. If you don’t have the money but need the specs found in the q325ua, I think it’s worth it, even with its drawbacks.

This one was a really great laptop. Keyboard was great. It came with a mini docking station! The fingerprint reader on the side was so sensitive and easy to use. But...the webcam was horrendous. It boasts a 720p webcam, but it looks like a really low quality video from 15 years ago. If you are looking for a good high-spec laptop, but don;t care much for the webcam, this is your laptop!!

Not convenient, not enough plugin ports

This laptop is fast and powerful however, didn't meet expectations and will be returned Pros: -Fast -Great sound when playing music -Long lasting battery, only used it once and lasted a good 4-5 hours Cons - No legacy, type A USB so needs an adapter, comes with one but only one legacy USB in it. So you are looking at spending an additional $40-50 on a new adapter if you need other types of plugin ports. - No SD card reader, needs adapter. -Graphics are very poor. I downloaded Open office and it the graphics and font looked terrible and blurry. -Camera is as bad as others mention. -It gets hot and fan is very loud. -Restarted automatically for no reason. I've never returned a laptop from best buy before so this will be my first. It is not a terrible laptop, but for this amount of money I expect it to have everything that's needed.

    Very impressed with this laptop

To me this was a no brainer. A 2.4lb 2in1 with an i7 that can boost to 3.5ghz, 16gb ddr3, 512gb ssd, full 360° screen rotation in a 13" screen portable package? You can't go wrong. I've seen some weird "fuzziness" from the display from time to time but it honestly seems like a rendering issue and I'm sure an updated driver will fix in the near future. It's not bad at all, and I didn't buy a small portable laptop for an exemplary screen, even though this screen is impressive especially since it's rediculously thin. If you haven't seen this model in real life you need to. It will blow you away at how compact and insanely light this powerhouse is, and the battery life is amazing to boot. My girlfriend is going to be going to med school this year and 100% of her classwork curriculum will be done online. She has scoliosis and needs an extremely lightweight laptop due to the amount of walking she will do. You will not find a better performing laptop in this size, period. 1200 may be a bit steep, but overall after purchasing this I can honestly say I'd pay 1500. I'm that satisfied. this thing is so fast for its size and price point and is rediculously useful/handy

    Great portable laptop and tablet

Both my tablet and laptop were quite old so I was looking for a device that could possibly replace both. In short, after about a week and a half I am very happy with my purchase. I bought this laptop and paired it with the Bamboo Ink Stylus. The touchpad works great and the stylus works really well with it. I was hoping it would work comparable to the surface pro/stylus that I had tried out and I am pleased to say it meets my expectations. The laptop is super thin and is very light. This is exactly what I was looking for in terms of size. I want to be able to hold it like a tablet and I can do that with ease. The laptop stays relatively cool unless you try playing a game or installing/updating software. Most of the heat is in the back of the laptop as advertised, so it doesn't bother your palms. It did get very hot in my lap when trying out Rocket league, but I didn't buy this to play games so I am not disappointed. It did run the game just fine though. It is a very fast machine. I am able to have web browser, powerpoints, documents, and matlab all open at the same time without a problem. I did have some wireless connectivity issues with my home network and my printer, but those issues seem to have gone away. Not loaded up with tons of useless softwre so that was a nice surprise. I looked at the SurfacePro Book, the HP Spectre and could not justify paying significantly more for those items. This device does everything I want very well, at a price that did leave me with doubt. The spectre did feel a little nicer and worth the extra money if those things matter to you. I really could not Justify going for the surface book, which has a much nicer screen, but honestly was bulkier than I desired. Limited ports, but comes with a multiport dongle that suits my needs. Overall.....awesome laptop.

my primary reasons for choosing this laptop 1) specs (i7, 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM 2) super light -- reminds me of macbook (it's lighter than macbook air, but better specs) 3) touch screen 4) price for the specs and portability, this is a very good price. i've been using this for a month and so far still very happy with it! I love that it has 2 USB-C ports and a dock adaptor free to connect to USC-C, USB, and HDMI. Con: Front facing camera - not very good quality

I was shopping for a 13.3", i7, 16gb, laptop. I started out comparing dell xps 13, lenovo 910, hp spectre x360. All of them had some benefits, but all also had drawbacks. the xps 13 was the most expensive (easily), the lenovo 910 doesn't have a real usb-c port and poor wifi card (as usual for lenovo), and the hp spectre looked pretty good, but the 4k display on the 16gb version kills battery life. I had not heard of this asus until I went into the best buy and saw it on display. It is amazing. check it out! I bought mine for sale on $1099, and used a $100 college student discount. One thing that really surprised me is the sound quality...listen to it.

Great Ultrabook but one VERY ANNOYING issue

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Love the Ultrabook, great battery life. Put it up against a one year old 13" MacBook Air playing a long video on full brightness from YouTube and thought for sure the MacBook Air would win, it didn't...but, only by a few percentage points...still, impressive. I do wish the display got brighter and the keyboard were less "mushy". But both are sufficient, just not great. The one AMAZINGLY ANNOYING thing is the complete lack of an Fn lock function. Want to increase brightness? Requires two key combination. Turn off keyboard lights? Two key combination. ASUS, you made a great Ultrabook here, now FINISH IT and update the keyboard software and/or BIOS to allow for a permanent Fn lock; without it it's EXTREMELY ANNOYING as I, and many others, NEVER use the F keys, but do need to adjust the brightness of the screen and keyboard often.

    Best Laptop I've Ever Owned

This is by far the best Laptop I have ever own, I have 5 computers currently and this is by far my favorite. It is just the right size to do work in a vehicle, airport, or anywhere where space is a bit cramped. I personally have no real use for the touch screen, so that would technically be MY only con. For me the pros for this laptop is that it does not overheat on your lap (SSD), the shift key is perfectly placed, super light I think it's less than 2.5 #s, the speed of this computer also makes it perfect for business traveling. I have owned MacBooks before and this really does take the cake for a PC. So far it has handled all my programs and open files effortlessly. This Asus Laptop has consistently proven to be a wise choice for me.

I really like this laptop. I had the q324ua and that screen cracked so I brought this one.-Q325ua I love the laptop but at the same time I am slightly disappointed. I use my laptop mostly in bed. (Any tech and including myself would never recommend that) I use it this way because I'm big. My previous model didn't get hot underneath in in my bed vs this one does. The good news is I did a Temperature check and I'm only getting up to 55C and the processor can withstand 100C. That is my only major disapointment. On one review I heard that the the dongle does not work for backward compatibility for 3.0 or HDMi. Not true. what it is -is the right usbc port is only for standard devices to be plugged in such as memory sticks external hard drives etc. The port on the left is a display output, power and usb c port. Granted I'd like more ports but this will do. Everything else is great about the laptop. the memory is 2133 speed which I believe is DDR4 (some say DDR3 some say DDR4 help me here) and you have 16 Gigs of Ram. Te screen is nice. it is super fast. and over all a great laptop for the money. the processor is an I7 dual core. It's a great computer for standard use and mid gaming software. definitely priced right .
