Computer was recommended highly by Bestbuy personel in store. I bought with out reading reviews (bad mistake) bought on Friday(11-10-17) and had data from other computer transfer to it. Pick it up on Sunday. Had problems from day one. Slow, freezing up and would restart it self. 11-26-17 it froze, shut down and would not boot back up. Took it back to Bestbuy, they would check under manufacture warranty. They had to sent back to Asus because the hard drive was bad. Still don't have it back and its Dec 1st. Looks like all the problems with the HD, Asus or Bestbuy would have pull this computer and had a recall on the HD. Very disappointed with Asus and Bestbuy. Don't waste your money!!. $855.99 thrown away!!! Guess BBB needs to know about this one.

This machine has 3 times the RAM and 4 times the hard drive memory than my 9 year old Toshiba that has served me well until recently. There are a lot of neat little functions with Windows Ink and the laptop design is very nice. I will probably never buy another laptop without a back-lit keyboard, and this one is actually better than my old Toshiba keyboard. It just seems to not have the boot speed I would think it should have, given the RAM and video card. While I do think this is probably a very good value for the money (I paid less than $800 for the laptop itself). Once the computer boots up, it is fine, but just seems to take a while to boot up.

The touch functions are effective and the artistic applications associated are really fun for the kids.
Biggest downside is that the included "subwoofer" doesn't work properly.

High daily usage/casual gaming laptop

I love this laptop, despite its few faults (see below), it is absolutely an amazing deal with Best Buy's sale (I believe it usually goes for a little over a thousand, I got it for $750 at my local Best Buy, which is a crazy steal for a laptop of this quality). I have a hard time shopping for laptops because there seems to be no category for my kind of laptop usage-- I play a few not-so-demanding games, and not very often, so I don't need a gaming laptop, but I use my laptop for hours every single day for a wide variety of activities, so I'm not a casual "1 to 2 hours checking emails" kind of laptop user. I need a laptop that can withstand that kind of usage but isn't over-the-top with graphics, ram, and thick/heavy hardware. This laptop is that laptop. After enduring a $400 laptop for two years, I also know what truly defines a "bad quality" laptop, and this ASUS 2-in-1 is NOT bad. Here are a few hardware perks before I get into the pros and cons of the computer (because I wanted to know these things and no one else ever comments on them, I hope this will help anyone also wondering). This laptop has: 1) a "caps lock is on" indicator light as well as an "airplane mode is on" and "webcam is on" light. (every laptop has those things, you say? tell that to my former laptop) 2) a sturdy keyboard that doesn't wobble while typing. 3) crisp screen images and regular screen color (maybe not "true to life" color but there is no weird yellow hue over everything) and 4) a slim body/portable weight.
PROS//
` Runs quickly and efficiently even in games
` Good screen quality for streaming videos and gaming
` The RAM + GHz means this laptop can smoothly play fairly demanding games at great qualities and demanding games at lower qualities
` I have yet to have a problem with battery, it lasts a good length of time for simple programs (internet browser/microsoft word/messenger apps)
` Laptop speakers work fine for voices (shows, podcasts, etc,) but are subpar for music-- however, this computer COMES WITH a speaker for free that rectifies that situation (if the speaker doesn't seem to be working, make sure the speaker is plugged in fully, it may require a *tad* more strength than normal and should make a 'click' sound)
` Touch screen is responsive with no lag at all, computer can be flipped to be made into a tablet or "movie platform"
CONS//
` Comes with a lot of bloatware, as well as more programs than seem necessary but apparently ARE necessary? Just expect to tolerate dozens of programs and processes at all times, even with bloatware deleted
` Takes hours to install initial start up, took two hours to even see the start screen, and then half an hour later it decided to "update Windows 10" in another three hour installation that made the computer unusable
` No CD/DVD drive
` Headphone and microphone jack are the same jack
` When plugging in headphones or speaker, the computer does not recognize them as separate devices from the internal speakers or microphone, which makes troubleshooting or customizing these devices significantly harder (this may just be a fluke on my laptop, I don't know)
` Because of 1920 x 1080 resolution, font and static media can be a bit small, and may seem blurry on some programs/websites with a zoomed in resolution.

ASUS is a great machine. This is sleek and you can convert to tablet with onscreen keyboard. Colors are beautiful, etc.
But I can't stand Windows 10. I put this off for as long as I could until my Windows 7 machine started blue-screening and would barely boot. Dang. Windows 10 is so "app-y" it's frustrating and slows me down. Years ago I built my own computer and I just may do that again. I'm getting used to Win 10 but I don't like it.
Thanks for the time and space to review.

Very nice laptop. Full power with the i7 processor. My wife needed the power for Photoshop. Sound is decent. The external mini subwoofer works nice. Out of the box it needed a massive Windows OS update, so be prepared for that with lots of patience. Just let the updates run as long as it takes before you try to do anything else. Once you get past that, it is very fast.

Laptop was purchased for college bound person. Works well enough and seems to have the speed needed to access different information as need while doing assignments. Laptop does freeze up if more than 4 windows are opened at the same time which is a bit of an issue sometime but otherwise works well enough for school and web browsing.

I loved the pen and touchscreen. Feels solid. The screen rotates all the way back to make it like a tablet, but I wish it was more sturdy when opened at ninety degrees in laptop mode. Any little bumpy movement (especially when resting the computer on my lap) would make it fall back a little and id have to pull it back forward which can get annoying after several times

I was interested in a laptop with good sound. Volume wasn't too high. Salesman pushed volume key to the highest (little did we know, volume key was not functioning). It was OK volume but not very loud. Purchased laptop. Opened package and laptop comes with a plug in woofer called "Sonicmaster" (salesman was TOTALLY unaware of its existence.) Plugged it in, no sound. No directions printed or otherwise. No website listed on printed material. Went on web forums. Many were having trouble with speaker AND volume keys. Volume keys on mine not working. No answers on line other than complex "iffy" solutions. So I experiment. Here's how you get things working, For volume, you have to hit "fn" key at lower left of keyboard (never had to do this with any other computer) then control volume keys.. For speaker, push VERY hard to make sure it is properly seated then on Windows logo at lower left on keyboard, search for "ICEpower" on left column, that will open "Audiowizard", you now have access to speaker. NOW sound is great if you don't mind lugging around a small woofer. Best Buy, train your salesmen! To go on, experiences some freeze ups. All in all I recommend the laptop but question Asus's lack of info and setup instructions.

Perfect Wi Fi ROKU TV!

My husband purchased the Roku TV for his garage. He loves the TV so much that he begged me to take a look at it, I was surprised. The reception is extremely crisp and clear, the channel selection is huge! We are receiving so many different channels on this TV that he actually can't decide what to watch while he's out there working on all of our other stuff, which BTW, never gets done anymore! I would have to say that my only regret is not buying a Roku TV for the guest bedroom. I believe our guest would love to watch such a beautiful TV late at night when they’re visiting or maybe even join my husband in his garage. Oh well, the guest will just have to sit in his hot garage to watch the beautiful Roku TV, with such vivid colors and an accessible, easy to use remote control. I don't care if they want to sleep there too, with him, and quit complaining about the free room, board and whatever I can offer them to eat or drink, then I would Love the Roku TV as much as he does!

It is nice to be able to use my new laptop whenever I want instead of having to depend on the computers at the library. I am no longer limited in the time I can use it. Although, I haven't yet learned how to turn on the back light of the laptop which is a feature that I used to decide on this particular laptop. I plan on going to Best Buy and asking one of the sales representatives how to turn that light on.
