Although it wasn't as simple as plug and play. You need to first upgrade the firmware on the extender, reset to factory defaults on the repeater.asus.com site while connected to the repeater. Then Update the firmware on your primary ASUS router, and then log into the router.asus.com while connected to your primary router SSIN, and then go to the network map --> AI MESH--> do a search and the extender should show up, select that and it will merge your extender SSIN to your current primary router network (versus having at least 2 networks: router, extender SSIN). Took me a while to figure it out, so I'd say that would be closer to 4 stars, but pretty happy once its working. A cheaper alternative over buying a separate brand new router. And don't use the mobile app, that was useless to me. Video below was helpful as reference. Once its all setup its really cool you can test to see if it working by going to router.asus.com and you can see the specific clients connected to your extender, very fun once it actually works. It will not keep your programed Wi-Fi settings very long. Consistently loses configuration with your router. Initially liked the size and portability, and design but I became very disappointed with it's performance. It is not of good quality. I cannot recommend this item for purchase.

Just buy another mesh router

Very tempramental

The system setup will often throw and error. When i finaly got it working my devices would drop it and not reconnect until I moves it around my home to get the aignal dostance between the router and the extender just right.... I woild mot recommend

My signal from good to Very Good/Excellent!

The signal strength is now Very Good to Excellent! The power bumped and shut down during a thunder storm and I had to reset the unit, but that was no problem and My Son showed Me how to reset by using the ASUS Extender App on My Phone! This is a very good device that enhances the signal on All My devices, in particular My 4K Fire TV device!

They actually claim it doesn’t work properly. I am absolutely floored at how abysmal Asus service is, but I guess that’s what you should expect from a poor quality manufacturer. They had me ship both of my repeaters back to them for repair. And they make you pay for all the return shipping. ABSOLUTE JUNK

Plug into router for AI Mesh network

Just find a good location to plug in the extender and that is all the setup we had to do.

The lights to move closer or farther away from your existing WiFi access point is nice feature. The only issue is without my existing ASUS WiFi router supporting AiMesh the ASUS - Wireless-AC Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender adds _rpt to your SSID. So when roaming you are actually connecting to another WiFi access point. This is not really a problem with most devices currently, but I wanted to mention that it may affect some users.

They were very easy to pair up with the routers and they definitely boosted the signal. These were exactly what I was looking for. I would definitely recommend this product.

As with any range extending device need to be aware of location placement to avoid competing connection paths.

RP-AC55’s Work Great in Mesh Mode

I was initially skeptical of how it would work but have to say Mesh is so much more reliable then using these as repeaters. The webpage page administration made it a breeze to setup. What used to be dead zones in my house now have snappy and fast internet. Would buy again in a heart beat.

Never worked correctly
