A disproportionate and sad unboxing experience.

What can I say about its performance? It’s a 3090. This graphics card is tremendously powerful and suits my needs, and then some. Regardless, I think it is overpriced, despite it’s durability. (In this case, the name is warranted. The capacitors and MOSFETs are tried and true.) The tariffs are arbitrary. This card is subject to the hand quotes “ASUS tax” as we joke around…..ON TOP of the tariffs, yet, Best Buy has the audacity to charge even more. This card is priced higher than that of MicroCenter. Typically running a $50 premium across the board with GPUs in general. The unboxing experience was flimsy, cheap, lackluster, and disappointing - think of the outer box you might receive a new desk mouse in. Why? (not to the fault of Best Buy) More specifically, I would give this product somewhere between a 3-4. About a 70% or so.

This is the the version of the RTX3090 card you want to get! From the online reviews and personal experience, this is the most silent, coolest running card on the market. Even under extremely heavy load gaming @4K, with 120+ FPS, this card never holds temps between 65° - 72°. The factory overclock is more than enough to handle anything, with 24GB of VRAM, you will not need to upgrade this card for years! I highly recommend this card to anyone looking for an RTX3090. This is not my first ASUS product, and from what I have seen in my experience, ASUS makes superior products.

Hefty card, can churn out frames pretty decently, but not as much as I was expecting. I play FPS games on a high refresh 1440p monitor and wasn't getting nearly the framerate I had expected. I had been hoping to fully max out the 144HZ display rate, but for a game like CoD warzone, the frames would frequently dip as low as 120 at max settings (RT off). Turning DLSS helped a bit, and turning down the quality settings helped a bit more. For a $2,000+ card I expected a bit more but I suppose at least I was able to get one. I've heard that going into your BIOS and changing the PCIE settings from auto to gen4 can help, but I haven't tested it yet.

4k max any game @ 100fps after tweaks? Yes, this card exceeded my expectations. Got it before tariffs kicked up prices. Can't thank Best Buy enough for bot protection giving us simps a chance to get a card.

Amazing GPU, exactly what I wanted (except price)

Black. Quiet. Cool. Exactly what I wanted. Well designed & high quality materials built to last. Needs an anti-sag bracket due to weight, unless vertically mounting with PCIE4 riser. RGB is turned off as my PC is "Blackout" & I am using air cooling, no liquid. I would like to have the 3090ti edition, but you know..gotta get what's in stock. This looks great with ASUS TUF X570-Plus WiFi (5950x CPU + 64gb ECC RAM) motherboard, Noctua NH-D15S, Seasonic Prime TX850, & held together by Thermaltake Core P3 case mounted on wall above 55" Samsung Q80t 4k HDTV monitor. Performance is amazing & works well in a home office workstation, but a bit overkill for a gaming rig.

I'd like to first give a lot of credit to Best Buy in improving their Add to Cart queue system to give those of us a chance to get one that are just trying to buy a video card these days to enjoy our hobby. THANK YOU! Excellent card and feels quality with the all aluminum shroud. No plastic here except the fans, so VERY nice. Runs very cool in the mid 60C range in games even on performance BIOS. I can't even hear the GPU fan over my system fans which is already whisper quiet. I took a star off for the presence of coil whine when under load and ridiculous prices for a video card in general. Coil whine on my card is not the worst I've experienced and borderline tolerable. But if you are trying to build an all silent water cooled PC, you are risking it with these high end RTX 3000 series cards in general that are more likely to come with coil whine from what I've been reading on the internet's experience. Been building computers for over 20 years some video cards, PSUs, and motherboards tend to have coil whine. I've only experienced 2 out of the 12 video cards I've owned in the past with various brands. Luck must have ran out for me and this will be my 3rd one with coil whine in my lifetime. I'm also torn if I should RMA in the near future for this otherwise awesome video card. Then again, there are no stock anywhere so I'm grateful to even get my hands on one of these. I should also note, I have a new Seasonic TX-850w Titanium PSU installed running Ryzen 5800x CPU. The 850w PSU still tripped the Over Current Protection while I was playing a game and the system did a hard reset. This did not happen at all when I was still running the Seasonic 850w Ti PSU with my 1080ti GPU a few weeks earlier. Asus recommends 750w - 850w, but I may be also a victim of the 3090 extra transient power spike that is reported on various internet tech forums even with the recommended 850w PSU. I'll be returning the 850w PSU for another quality 1000w PSU to see if it'll prevent that from happening again. This is a possible developing issue that is still being investigated on various tech forums on the speculation it could be Nvidia's power design and factory overclocks on the cards amplified the issue. It would seem the recommended 850w PSU barely satisfies this power hungry card.

The Asus Tuf 3090 performs better than the 3090 FE and runs quieter and cooler. Asus really outdid themselves with this product. The build quality is top notch and the card has a lot of heft to it.

    ASUS 3090 TUF OC

Here at Tegridy Farms, we have transferred our builds into a small ITX case with this ASUS 3090 TUF inside. It has decreased my render times (coming from a 1080 TI) and it’s very quiet. The highest temps that I have seen this get are in the 70s (stock fans, cramped ITX build). The 3090 would be overkill for gaming but great if your line of work can benefit from it. Five stars for my personal use case, possibly three to four stars if your intent is gaming (rating based on value since the 3070 or 3080 would be more economical).

    Fast card, memory runs hot

Fast card, runs any game you throw at it well at 4k. The memory on this model runs hot, over 92C after 20 minutes of 3dmark Time Spy looped, even with a case fan directed across the backplate. The heatsink/cooler is the same as the 3080 model even though it runs faster and has more memory. The RGB lighting is unobtrusive and not flashy. Price is well above Nvidia founders edition and EVGA 3090 models so if you can get one of those at MSRP, they are a better value.

I'm both a gamer and a small-time miner, so this card is definitely a huge improvement over my old 1080 Ti. Unless you can get any other 30 series card that doesn't have the mining limiter, I would recommend getting those cards instead of this since you are paying a premium. If you are a gamer, don't care about crypto mining, and want something equivalent to this, I would recommend you getting the 3080 Ti or even a 3080 as the FPS are quite similar or off by a few frames. As for my experience, this card is going well for me as I can mine while I'm working and studying, and game with RTX and DLSS features during my free time. I highly recommend this card for anyone who has money to burn. I'll most likely get my money back from this card in the next 10 months if crypto markets are still good by then.

It is what it said it was, cooler keeps things at around 65c or lower, handles 4k gaming really well. The value is all thwt is keeping it from 5 stars, honestly, but it was the first available to me so I went with it and have not been disappointed.

It’s a 3090 so it’s fast, but it’s tough to get clocks because of a low power limit, and the memory cooling design is way inadequate since it allows the memory to get well over 100C during regular gameplay. Still a good card for gaming and fps is beyond what you’ll need.

The ASUS RTX 3090 TUF is a well built card overall. Has a very robust cooler that keeps the card running cool and quiet. I never saw it run warmer than 65°C under full load. However, the GPU I got was plagued with loud, annoying coil whine at any GPU load except idle. It was so loud that I could hear it in my enclosed case from over 6 feet away. It ruined what was otherwise a fantastic GPU. If you get one without coil whine or at least less coil whine than I had then the card is a great purchase.

      Dear Ozzie,

I'm sorry to hear that your GPU had substantial coil whine. That certainly sounds like a frustrating issue. I understand that you have returned the card, but I will forward your feedback to the Product team for review.
