Customers are saying

Customers commend the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Strix Graphics Card for its exceptional performance, impressive cooling capabilities keeping temperatures low, and high frame rates, resulting in smooth gameplay. Many appreciate the build quality and quiet operation, although some note the card's large size and high price point. A few users mentioned experiencing coil whine, but this seems to vary between units. Overall, the card is praised for its power and performance.

    Great performance, terrible coil whine

Pros: - Best out of box performance - Lots of OC headroom - Incredible temps - Great build quality Cons: - Loud coil whine I was very excited to see best buy had the ROG Strix 4090 in stock again. I already had the MSI Suprim X 4090 but had planned to move that to my living room PC and put this in my office/game room PC. Unfortunately, after firing up the first game, there was unbearable coil whine. I tested in MW2, Hogwarts Legacy, Hitman 3, and Cyberpunk. I tried undervolting, power limiting, and capping fps to 144 at 4k. Although this made it a little bit better, it was still far from acceptable. I could even hear mild whine at 60 fps! I understand that coil whine can be common in high end GPU's, and it is more common than ever with the 4090's with how much power these things draw, but there is a limit to what should be considered acceptable. My Suprim X, has very mild whine. In order to hear it, you'd have to be in a completely quiet environment and actively looking for it. On the Strix, it is so loud, I could hear it even from outside the room. If you game exclusively with headphones or have a very well insulated case and keep it far from you, then this is going to be a fantastic card in terms of performance and thermals. Otherwise, this may not be the model to play the coil whine lottery with. Sadly, I will be returning.

      Dear SDMav760,

Thank you for reaching out to us. We're sorry to hear about the issues you're having with this model. The noise that is emitting from the computer is known as coil whine. When the electrical current is increased to a certain point, the magnetic field around the coil can cause it to vibrate, which produces the whiny sound. After a short amount of time the noise should go away as the components regulates. However, if it is that the sound is too much for you, then we would recommend that you have this device sent in for servicing. For more information send us an email at [email protected] and provide the link of this review for reference. We’ll do our best to provide a quick resolution to your case. Your feedback is important as it helps with improvements to ASUS Support channels.
      Thank you for choosing ASUS.

    Powerful Behemoth!

Probably the best option now that EVGA is out of the game. I knew this thing was big.. but wasn't expecting it to be an absolute behemoth! It dwarfs the EVGA 3080ti it replaced. It runs cool, is nearly silent when at full tilt, and is built like a tank. Double the score vs the 3080ti in Port Royal. No complaints, other than the price.

Amazing GPU never had an issue with gaming and no whines I can audibly hear easily unless I opened up my case and really concentrate on the noise of my GPU. Excellent vapor chamber centric cooler with high boost clocks speed, over 300fps on games and manages AI programs like a beast. Amazing for editing Videos and working on 3D models that require a lot of rendering my GPU can handle any challenges without a doubt I am impressed with the technology thank you ASUS !

Best card ever made, and I've owned every high end NVIDIA GPU since Geforce 256 and mainly Asus brand. With my current rig, I started with a 4090 FE but wanted the extra uplift and aesthetics being my set up is ROG Strix so I switched over to the 4090 Strix. Installed the latest NVIDIA drivers . Left the GPU bios as is. 0 issues. If you can afford the up charge in price and prefer ROG hardware, this is the one ! I cannot recommend this GPU enough if you can get your hands on one.

Love the card plays Cyberpunk 2077 at 3440x1440 at 87-132 FPS with an average about 98-106 FPS with frame generation off. Be careful on your case you may have to get a new one you do not want the side panel putting any pressure on the power cable, to you wont be able to get your side panel on at all. Card will do 3015mhz just adjusting the core clock. No real need to overclock it at all. It very much will play anything without frame generation up to 3440x1440 with ease. Sadly with EVGA's exit not a lot of options, most the other cards read a lot of short comings, failures to annoyances that this card does not have. The biggest short coming is the USA to even Canada support is abysmal... it was this bad over 20 years ago with ASUS. Its like pulling teeth to get simple questioned answered.

Feels well buiit and looks the part, but that all changes once you mount it and turn it on. Way longer than it needs to be, good luck trying to tackle GPU sag on this one. The FE card doesn't need this massive shroud and gets on just fine. Once you turn this thing on it sounds like a chainsaw underload, even with headphones on. I wanted this card badly for the longest, but am so happy to have found a silent Founders Edition and have since returned this one. Avoid! Get a Founders or Gigabyte Gaming OC instead, you will be glad you did.

This graphics card is a beast of a card. 4K Gaming looks excellent. Never had any issues with it so far temperature has never been over 74°C. It stays really cool. I would recommend this card to anyone looking for a monster like this. Just make sure your case is big enough because it is big. It was rather expensive though.

Well, it's currently the best GPU available to the public. I'm running it on a 42" 4k OLED, and it crushes everything. No coil whine, low temps, and it has 2 HDMI ports. It's pricey at $2k, but it's the best of the best.
