This thing is a beast!

I'm very experienced with computers. First thing I did was swap out the HDD for a Samsung Evo 850 SSD and man this laptop flies, as any would with an SSD. Originally with the HDD it took long to boot, now it takes 8 seconds, fingerprint, boom, you're in chrome in 20 seconds from booting.
Everything about this laptop is premium with the exception of the camera and speakers. The speakers aren't powerful at all, you wont enjoy long YouTube sessions/movies with this without headphones. The camera isn't good quality, I think 480p? Use your phone to skype.
Now to the good. Keep in mind I have an SSD so unless you're doing the same this will vary. This pc is a beast, no slow downs at all. Even big programs like Photoshop open in under 10 seconds with everything near instant. There's no dedicated graphics so don't expect any gaming on here, unless its a low intensive game on low settings. Screen isn't very bright and is terrible in sunlight/outdoors, all you'll see is yourself. But indoors this 1080p panel is more than adequate . Keyboard has decent travel, needing a bit more than little force. All in all it's good to type with, can see myself doing essays no problem. It does flex a little in the center of the keyboard if you press down hard, with normal typing not a problem. The back-lit function has 3 settings which comes in handy. Durability wise it seems like a go, solid frame/hinges. The 2-1 feature might not be for everyone but I love reading comics/manga in vertical tablet mode. Touchscreen is very responsiveness and disables keyboard/track pad after 180 degrees. Don't expect to be holding this in the air, too heavy for that.
Bottom line, this machine is very powerful with an SSD, highly suggest getting one. Without it the OS will feel sluggish and hinder the full experience this laptop can offer. It definitely has the capable hardware, however the speed will definitely be lacking with its 5400rpm HDD. At the very least clean install windows 10 right when you get this laptop or you'll be greeted with 100+ ASUS programs that are just bloatware, all it will do is slow it down more. If you have any question, feel free to ask.

If you're a big time gamer, Chromecast stream and multitasker, or running a business, this isn't for you. Now, if you're like me who watches netflix, likes to write, uses Microsoft excel, and generally browse the internet for those adorable cat videos, this is your new best friend. It was everything I wanted except the memory, which is why it received 4 stars. Ideally it would be 8gb, but it doea have the ability to expand. The convertible screen is perfect for watching shows or anything where you dont need a keyboard. Its easy to flip. It comes with win10 which is nice and its a full touchscreen.

This is the second Asus laptop that I have purchased and this company is consistent with quality. I like the re-styled keyboard and the over all look. The screen is smaller than I am used to, however, this is not a problem and I quickly became used to the size. I have found this computer to respond quickly, whether I am working on spreadsheets or playing games. The only characteristic that I feel is a flawed design feature is the power button. It is located on the left side of the base, exactly where I touch to move the laptop or to pick up. That may be the only feature that Asus may want to reconfigure on new models.

It came with recommended apps at setup which really made us like the computer right away. It fits easily in a backpack, is lightweight, has a good 8 hours of battery life, and runs silently. Well worth the money

I bought the laptop as an everyday web browser/sales force piece. Unfortunately, after using it for less than 50 total hours across just a few days, it began to malfunction is quite amazing ways, eventually leading to the heavily feared blue screen of death. The hard drive became unreadable and the laptop became absolutely useless, despite installing a new SSD and imaging the machine.

Not exactly sure how I feel about this laptop yet. I sometimes think about if I could have gotten a better one for my money. I'm around the battery life seems to be good and much better than the previous dell laptop that I had. It will come in handy for notary loan signings!

Extremely happy with my Asus Q304UA Laptop!

Since purchasing my Asus Q304UA touchscreen laptop, I have been nothing but extremely satisfied with my purchase! Everything about it has been exactly as I hoped and expected.
A few little features I recall looking for when I was deciding on a laptop to purchase at the time were: backlit keyboard and fingerprint reader. I am thoroughly pleased with my decision to find a laptop to met each of my exact wants/needs, because something seemingly as minimal as the backlit keyboard has been nothing short of phenomenal -- it is not only aesthetically pleasing, visually, but it is a highly functional feature as the illuminating keyboard makes using the laptop in dark rooms or low lighting, much easier to use. The backlit keyboard can also be adjusted via 3-4 levels of brightness - these small details really make this laptop stand out from the crowd. It's well design both physically and attractively. The built in fingerprint reader is the other option I am very happy I made sure whatever laptop I purchased had... if I had to guess, it is by far, the most used part of the physical hardware; I am able to utilize it most times a password is asked upon me. Without the need to physically type in passwords and security codes, I am able to use the time saved on other fun things I enjoy doing.
Everything else about this laptop has been exactly as I had hoped; the battery life is exceptionally long, the 2-in-1 tablet/laptop touch screen is a great benefit any time you feel like changing up the look or feel of the device, just a simple fip on the hinges turns this laptop into a fully functional touchscreen tablet. The 1 TB hard drive has been more than plentiful for me, however, should I need additional space, I always have the built in micro SD card reader that I can install additional space if the situation arises. The Intel Core i5 (7th Generation) makes using the laptop a breeze, I am able to open multiple programs and tabs and do a variety of tasks, games, and other related tasks without any noticeable lag or slow down ... the processor combined with the 6 GB of RAM make this laptop a work horse BEAST! Multitasking works with PERFECTION!

I wanted to buy a MacBook Air initially but I was put off by how I can't swap the Ram or the hard drive without taking it to the Apple store if at all.
Asus has put out a premium quality laptop that could easily replace the MacBook Air. Booting it is a little slow with the hard drive but I intend to either swap the HD for an SSD or increase the RAM.
That being said, I wanted a compact laptop for travelling, one that wasn't too heavy and could handle basic tasks, emails and document editing to be precise. What came as a pleasant surprise that I was able to edit formulae and process a 90 mb Excel file with multiple sheets in about 3 minutes without having to bother with my i7 laptop from work.

I got this laptop in a rush, my old laptops hard drive died on me so I thought why not give a go at something newer. I have had the laptop for less than a month and I see few downsides. Number 1, there is no CD port and for me that is a downside, but I knew that going in. Number 2, this is my first laptop with a touchscreen and when it is in laptop mode I hate that this feature is always on (i recently backed out on a assignment when trying to push the screen a little more backward). The third downside is that although the speakers are okay they are on the bottom and are frequently muffled, poor design choice on that one. There are extreme upsides however. Number one being that the laptop is very light and can be easily carried everywhere. Number two it is extremely fast and even though I know that will go away, it is great for now. Number three of the upsides would be the 2-in-1 feature. Making this a tablet is so easy and makes multiple choice quizzes so much easier

This is my first Asus after many devoted years to Hp. I'm not computer savy and don't know technical terms to describe it's features but, I know I love it! This is sleek and lightweight, easy to use and super fast. It has all the storage space I need and does what I need it to.

I got this laptop about a month ago because I was starting grad school and wanted a more portable computer. After lots of research I found this one and really enjoy it. It Ian fast and very light. I love the touchscreen and multiway features. The only thing that I don't always love is the trackpad. The clicking sound is quite loud compared to my old laptop and it isn't always properly responsive. I altered the settings because it was originally much too touchy and would jump around the screen with the smallest touch. Now sometimes it doesn't follow my finger movement. I'm hoping that I'm just still getting used to it and it will become less noticeable the longer I use the device. Also as a note, the speakers are on the bottom of the computer, so if you attempt to listen to anything on a softer surface it can get muffled. A nice aspect though is that when you plug in headphones it automatically adjusts the sound so you don't accidentally blast yourself with loud audio. Overall great device.

This was a great laptop until the windows update. I loved it. Now the hard drive has slowed to where it won't work. It has taken 1 hour to close a webpage. 1 hr. I had it serviced and keep getting told to purchase a new hard drive or laptop. I am so disappointed as I spend a lot of money on this laptop. The size, flexibility, weight, and touch screen were outstanding....but now it just takes literally FOREVER to do anything, even type words.

Overall, I think that this computer is good for basic tasks such as websurfing, email, etc. I do find it slow since I am coming from an i7 with an SSD. An SSD would probably make this a more pleasant experience. The size and weight are what make this a keeper for me. It is easily portable. I do not know the battery life but I don't find myself getting annoyed at having to plug it in too often. The backlight is not evenly distributed beneath he keyboard and the keyboard itself has a lot of flex, especially in the center. Ultimately, I think that this is a good buy at a clearance price.

Light & Fast Laptop That Plays Games!

I happened upon this little 13.3" laptop from Asus after trying to stay within a $500 budget and wanting another brand that was over $750 with similar specs. I'm not a big Asus fan normally, but after a few days I am impressed with this laptop. We originally purchased this model on Black Friday for about $500 with tax BUT couldn't get it registered on the ASUS website (already been registered?), so returned the next day and Best Buy replaced it with another one that I registered immediately.
The Good: Light, Easy to Use, CAN play some video intensive games surprisingly well (Rift, Devilian) even without the charger plugged in and NO dedicated GPU, plenty of USB ports and even a 3.1 port, backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader, only 3 pounds makes for easy toting, very sleek looking, beautiful HD display and touchscreen, dual band AC wireless is great.
The Bad (or not so as good as we would like): NO SSD drive (which would make this the ultimate laptop in my opinion), only 6gb RAM with 4 gb soldered onto the board and only takes 12gb total. These 2 things aren't dealbreakers BUT if I crack open the laptop to upgrade the memory (which is blazingly fast DDR4) or put a nice 500 gb Samsung SSD drive in, then I void the warranty which means I don't get ultimate speed so I'm knocking off ONE STAR for that. The Windows updating process took FOREVER when we got it home. Recommend doing it as soon as possible and removing bloatware. Improves speed immensely. NO ETHERNET port, so pick up a gigabit usb 3.0 ethernet adapter for direct internet connection. The i5 processor is no i7 but it is 7th generation. Also, the onboard video memory is more than advertised: Intel 620 which translates to over 6000 mb video memory. Not too shabby.
Make sure you do the most current BIOS update from Oct 2016 on the ASUS website. The BIOS also indicates that there are 3 SATA connections under the cover, so I'm curious if there are any more SATA slots where I could put an m.2 drive or pci-e drive. Overall it's a nice laptop for the money spent and time will tell whether it survives my daughter and using with Labview.

Touch screen, high resolution, and powerful processor are all good, but with little memory and slow HD performance appears to be less than one could expect. It does the job, but with more memory and SST HD it performs a lot better. Plus a lot of bloatware installed.

Let me start with the negatives. There is only one, this has possibly the worst hard drive you will EVER find on a $500+ laptop in 2016. The drive is loud and poor with heat and battery life, in fact, there is even a cloth over the hard drive to help with heat. A possible minor con is the track pad which glitches sometimes but always goes back to normal quickly. The cons is not that big and very easy to fix. Note brought this on a deal at $480 with 8gb ram for another 50 for a total of $550 (with tax) so i have a total of 12gb ram in this. The browsing saw superb however the application start up times and boot up times were not good and the fan noise mixed with the hard drive sound was unbearable. I fixed this by getting a PNY 240gig cs1311 for just $60 and that makes this thing boot up in 8 seconds and makes everything launch instantly. Most of all, the battery life has rose significantly, i cannot kill the battery before the end of the no matter how hard i try. Easily hits 8.5 hours browsing web of watching movies. Also the PNY ssd cured the hard drive problem, the laptop is much more quiet now and fan is hardly noticeable. This laptop was basically $480 + $50 + $60 (for me) for a total of $590 before taxes which is still much less than the retail price. Dell offers better deals around this price point but never get a dell (unless it is an XPS or alienware). I must warn however that this laptop is not going to serve you well out of the box, it is almost mandatory to get an SSD for this. I would say pick up the PNY 1311 for 240gig for just $60 otherwise you will be annoyed by the sound guaranteed and disappointed by the speed and missing out on a massive battery life boost. In summary this is a great laptop with exceptional build quality but only worth the money if you spend an extra 60 on an ssd and for those who need it maybe an extra 50 on an 8 gb ram stick to take the ram to 12gb.
