I've owned many gaming laptops throughout my life and have typically spent between 2000-2500 only to hope I am getting something remotely satisfying compared to my monster home PC....with consistent let downs..... such as battery life, screen quality, input lag and heft. My last laptop was a custom built sager with an i9, 1080, 120hz screen, 64gb RAM, and 2TB ssd. It was snappy but definitely not worth the cost when compared to the flow 16. I snagged this on sale and was worried I was choosing the 3060 version with the non mini LED screen. Screen looks great with no ghosting and the gloss makes colors vibrant. As long as you aren't using in direct sunlight, the brightness is perfect. I put the resolution down to 1440p in most of my games and it ran them all high settings in turbo mode. I love the mux switch and being able to do power saving mode by disabling the FX card. The battery is amazing giving me 7 hours of straight non-gaming use. It even charges quickly, which is an added bonus. But my FAVORITE part is tent mode. being able to change the orientation of your screen and use a keyboard is fantastic. The laptop cools better this way as well. I took this to my buddy's house and set it up for a quick LAN session and he was blown away by the set up. I added a 4TB 4th gen m2 WD ssd and will be making this my new daily driver for the coming years. Final thoughts....its sleek and professional, light, fast, foldable and while not the fastest GPU or best of the best screen...its an amazing value at this price point. My only gripe is its slick...meaning slippery. You need to be careful because the chassis is smooth, so I'd hesitate allowing your friends to try tablet mode!

I instantly fell in love with this computer the moment I unboxed it. It had a beautiful screen and great graphics. I was able to perform basic tasks on the computer as well as play some medium to heavy load games such as Subnautica and Destiny 2 on the highest graphics settings with no issues. At least, at first. After the second day of owning the laptop it started randomly crashing and giving me Blue Screen errors. I tried to diagnose and fix the issue in AsusCare and through methods online but nothing worked. I also called GeekSquad to see if they could find the issue but still nothing. Eventually it got worse where it was crashing every 20 minutes or so. After just a week I had to return the computer.

Got this laptop for my daughter when she entered college and was majoring in engineering. Runs revit and other drafting software like a champ. The fans only come on when gaming and then do get load but not distracting. Can handle long fortnight playthroughs. Less on battery power. 1 hour on battery while gamming about 6 for homework and other light computing.
Daughter loves touch screen option on this because it lets here move her presentations and projects more easily zooming and turning architectural plans more effectively. Great touchpad and sound as well

Excellent laptop, very silent during heavy gameplay, doesnt run very hot when playing for long hours when vents are getting proper air flow and it runs everything thrown at it ive played so far on max graphics (apex, cod moderwarfare) 60+ fps. Folding it into tent mode while playing makes games seem more immersive. Touch is also very responsive. Since its my 1st gaming laptop when on battery it lasts for like 4-5 hours on regular use.

I'm loving this laptop.
I got a pretty good deal - about $400 off from its (then) $1650 list price. I haven't yet gamed hard on this laptop, but I've used it to run Solidworks, perform video encoding, and I've been tinkering around with the Unreal Engine 5 development environment. Overall, I've been pretty impressed with the performance.
The build quality is excellent. Before buying, I'd thought the 2-in-1 laptop/tablet feature was a little gimmicky, but I've really come to like it. It's not a feature I use much, but it makes the machine feel more portable somehow. And it's one of those areas where you can feel the build-quality: it's just got a really great smooth resistance for the complete 180 degrees of travel.
A couple of worthy notes: I almost immediately upgraded the RAM with a 32GB stick (there's two 8GB sticks included, so now I'm at 40GB total). I also had a spare 1TB nvme drive that I added (the machine has got 2x m.2 slots so I'm up to 2TB in separate drives).
Complaints: I'd have preferred Windows 11 Pro, and it while it would be nice to charge via USB-C - I understand that USB-C isn't up to the job of delivering 240W DC.
Photos: I'm really proud of my desk setup, here's the laptop in both laptop and tablet configurations.

Asus ROG Flow X16 vs. Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 Review

Photos (Side by Side M16 on left, X16 on right)
Last year as I entered my senior year at university, and also started an internship where I was designing content for social media, including editing videos for presentations ..etc. While my Surface Laptop 3 served me well during my generals, it was meant for something other than the type of work I wanted to do.
After going through several different computers, including the Dell XPS 15 with top specs and the Razer Blade 15 (2022), I settled on these two contenders.
The Razer Blade 15 (2022) was great, but the screen brightness was awful. I could barely see it unless I was in a dark room. For close to 3K, I expected the device to be perfect, but the brightness and countless negative reviews had me return it.
The Dell XPS 15 with Intel Core i9-12900HK and GeForce RTX™ 3060 was near perfect, from the build quality to the display. However, the I9 was too much processor for the XPS. It ran hot and hindered the performance of the device. The fans were running on full, even doing tasks such as light video editing. Had I opted for the I7 model, it might have been worth considering.
After much research and the amazing experience I had with my Asus Zenbook in the early 2010s, I turned my eye to the Asus M16 with Intel Core i9-12900H 2892 and a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. In July 2022, Best Buy was running a promotion, and the device cost me $1600.
As someone who is not a gamer, the matte display took some getting used to, but I ended up enjoying not having a glare. The lack of a touchscreen was also forgiven once I tasted the performance. Every task I threw at the M16, it handled with ease. I thought I had finally found the right device, but the ROG X16 was suddenly available.
The ROG X16 (Best Buy Version) runs an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS and a GeForce RTX™ 3060 card. At the time of purchase, Aug 2022, I got it for $1900, after discounts (it was listed at $2100). Never having an AMD device, I was nervous about the type of performance I would get from the X16. It did not disappoint; like the M16, it easily handled all the tasks I was throwing at it. If you look at the photos below, you will notice that the X16 ran close to 10 degrees hotter than the M16. It wasn't a big deal for the type of tasks I was doing, such as photo and video editing. I imagine for many gamers, this might be an issue. The fans on the X16 are fairly quiet even when running at full. This is largely due to the size difference and build of the laptop itself. The X16 is thinner than the M16.
Looking at CPU bench scores running on performance (no point in running GPU as the 3070 would crush the 3060 in the X16) using Geekbench.
ROG FLOW X16 - Performance (default) mode
Single-Core Score- 1429
Multi-Core Score- 8504
Zephryus M16 - Performance (default) mode
Single-Core Score - 1453
Multi-Core Score - 8917

CONCLUSION (and which one I purchased) -
I kept both laptops for close to 30 days (Best Buy says they have a 15-day return policy, but a rep told me most managers would allow you to return a big purchase such as a laptop up to 30 days). I got approval from the manager before holding on to both past the 15 days.
The M16 Pros -
- Better performance in Turbo mode, largely due to better cooling.
- The matte display is nice when you are in traveling outside the home.
- More ports
M16 Cons-
- The speakers were not as loud as I wanted them to be
- Trackpad was not my favorite, and for typing long essays, I found my thumb touching the trackpad and moving my cursor (not fun when suddenly you are writing sentences in the middle of paragraphs you have already completed)
- No touch screen made it annoying, as I use it often during video editing.
- Battery life was terrible, I had to stay plugged in constantly (even in power-saving mode)
X16 Pros -
- Touchscreen
- Brighter display
- Battery life, while sub-par to other convertible laptops, is much better than the M16.
- The trackpad is much better than the M16.
- Fantastic build
- Unique for a 16-inch gaming laptop to have a convertible 2-in-1 design.
- Much more portable and travel friendly
X16 Cons -
- Speakers are just as bad as the M16.
- Cooling doesn't compare to the M16.
- Fewer ports than M16 due to the XGM port, which I have no use for (this would be a pro for gamers)
I kept the ROG Flow X16, and I haven't regretted it. Easily the best laptop I have ever owned. I wanted to wait for this review until I had several months with the laptop. It is nearly six months since I originally purchased the device, and I have had zero problems. The pros for me and what I needed it for outweigh the cons.
Final thought -
If you are looking for a great multimedia laptop that is not Apple, the ROG Flow X16 is what you want. While designed as a "portable gaming laptop," I believe it is one of the best "creator" laptops on the market. It manages to balance portability with powerful specs without sacrificing too much power.
If your primary use for the device is gaming, then the M16 is the device for you (or its AMD variant). The value + performance is unbeatable. The only comparable laptop I used was the Razer 15 (2022), and the M16 easily beat the Razer with its cooling system and much brighter display.

I review laptops as part of my YouTube channel codeHusky, and so far I’ve been extremely impressed with this laptop.
I performed an 8 hour battery test to determine how quickly the battery drains while playing a playlist of online videos at 1080p30. I had both the higher end MiniLED variant as well as the IPS model (this one from BestBuy) paired against each other in the test. At the end of the test, the IPS model still had hours of runtime left at 34% whereas the MiniLED had only 14% left. Extrapolating with the 90Whr battery, we could see upwards of 13+ hours on this model vs only 8-9 in this workload on the MiniLED model.
Noting here for anyone curious that both panels were kept at a minimally acceptable viewing brightness (around 50%), matched in brightness. Both were in Silent with the graphics set to Eco mode (disables Nvidia graphics completely), as well as having the CPU minimum performance state set to 0% in Windows power profile settings. Both systems were running no background apps or services, and the test was conducted in the Edge browser on the same exact playlist.
Overall, with some very tiny tweaks (all you need to do is tweak the power plan) the battery you get out of this model crushes just about anything of similar performance. With a 3070ti, this laptop would be a true godsend. Unfortunately there’s no option for that, but if there was, I’d recommend it easily with the IPS panel.
Worth note that the only difference between the IPS and MiniLED panels are the backlight tech and some of the internal filtering done inside of the panel for the backlighting. The color accuracy, coverage, vibrancy, and response times are identical otherwise as far as I was able to determine.
Included a run of Timespy as well as Tomb Raider on full max settings (no DLSS, no RTX, native, DX12) for anyone interested in performance figures. This model is certainly slower than the 3070ti model, but the amount varies depending on the game and your settings of course. This is going to be one of the best performing 3060 laptops on the market with 125w of TGP available (the same as the 3070ti model), so don’t underestimate it.
I’m still working on my testing of this laptop, but as far as I can tell my units flawless and rips through my testing like a champ. Easy recommendation from me if you can swallow the price.

Excellent laptop, but there are problems to repair on your own:
The AMD iGPU drivers will conflict with the Nvidia drivers and cause blue screen of death unless you uninstall them. This computer came with a corrupted Windows 11 install and had to be repaired through Windows 11 USB. I would recommend upgrading the RAM to at least 32GB DDR5 4800mhz as Windows 11 Home is using 8-12GB at idle with few programs running.
With those issues fixed, this laptop is very good.

Best product I've purchased in a long time. Excellent for gaming at 1440p. The tent set up allows the fans to cool perfectly although they can't get pretty loud. I tried a few laptops before this one and the display and performance made it a win although It was a bit thicker than I was wanting originally (was supposed to be a "work" laptop).

Pretty cool laptop. Doesn't overheat super easily like most gaming laptops, the performance mode allows for it to just turn the fans on and keep hunkering along. My favorite is the display though, and it's just super nice. I can even take a photo of the screen without that weird pixel texture coming up on camera (like most other screens do). I haven't had it for very long but I haven't run into any issues thus far. The main thing is that I got it on sale; I got it for $1,099 rather than $2,000 USD. I don't think I'd buy it for 2k, but it's good for $1,099.

Got this laptop on sale and am actually impressed with almost every aspect. Almost. I wanted to upgrade storage and memory, which should not have been a problem. However, one screw did not budge and the only way to open the back is with it out. Tried everything to remove it, finally had to remove the head leaving just the post. Tried removing the screw post but it still was stuck solid. Upgraded system memory to 32GB and added a 4TB SSD. Laptop runs like a champ, love the tablet mode and touchscreen. If not for the screw issue would be 5 stars!

I also use the tablet mode frequently for gaming as well as photo editing and i am not disappointed! The 165hz display along w the RTX 3060 graphics card gives a smooth and vibrant experience.

I picked this one because the one i wanted was a bit out of my price point. It plays all the games i buy with no problem. I like that it has a normal charging port unlike my last pc. It had a type c in. I use it for all my other needs as well. School, work, surfing the net. I believe the componets like the gpu are upgradable as well. Some pcs have integrated gpus so you cannot upgrade. Instead when it gets old you have to buy a whole new pc. All around love my new asus.

Overall it’s a decent laptop with its gaming capabilities and foldable options for the price but I had a few issues initially with the blue windows screen popping up frequently while gaming. It happened after about half and hour of gaming for seemingly no reason, I attempted to update the drivers and software multiple times and it didn’t seem to work, I’m not sure what exactly I did to solve it but it hasn’t happened for about 2-3 days as of now. I’d recommend folding it to tent mode to have good airflow while gaming otherwise it gets pretty hot. There was a small defect in the keyboard of the I key not lighting up like the rest but it works just fine otherwise so I ignored it. So after about a month of use, other than the blue error screen forcing me to restart the laptop multiple times (while gaming) until I somehow fixed it I’ve enjoyed using it so far.
