I am an older user and none gamer. The laptop that I was using for over 7 years have finally failed on me and I decided on a new gaming laptop since most of their spec is well above an average user and also does not feel obsolete after a year or two. I decided on this laptop because of the spec, price and the extra bonus of allowing to add extra storage or upgrade the RAM. This laptop is extremely well built, felt solid and light weight. The fan on laptop is extremely quite when idling, however it can be loud if you are using an heavy resource application. After purchasing this laptop, I was able to add an extra 1TB SSD to the extra slot and removing the cover and installing it was extremely easy. Please note that only one stick of RAM is removable for upgrade. Extremely happy of my purchase and highly recommended!

why I chose the M15 vs ROG Strix G15:
Much much lighter, better to use for college if you move around and go to classes a lot.
Larger battery, can last you about 5-6 hrs browsing if you ever forget to bring the charger.
Has type-c charging, bring a 65w USB C charger and you can charge your android phone/headphones/laptop all with one charger.
Good performance and less heat.
Sure the max-q variants are worse in terms of performance, but these also produce less heat, you won't be gaming on the go so it wouldn't be much of an issue. performance difference between a max-q and a max-p 2070 is about 10-15%, and if you are playing Triple A titles at 80 fps, that's a difference of 8 -10 fps... not that much difference at all. I benchmarked the M15 I have for timespy it scored a 7311, 2070 max-p scored a 7377, marginally better.
This variant has the 105w boosted 2070 max-q which is super good.
The only gripe I have is actually not enough RGB, but if you want a stealthy look then M15 would be perfect.

Great laptop if you get it on sale. I'd recommend getting something with more modern specs however, as technology concerning thermals and mobile CPU performance has drastically improved since the release of this device. Its good for gaming to a degree, but it won't play the latest releases at max setting for much longer and also feels like a gaming laptop when doing work (average build quality, meh keyboard and average fan noise). However, if you can get this at like 200 off, its design is attractive, the screen is smooth, and the performance is still good for the price. All together great for when it came out, its a shame these new laptops (especially units AMD based) are so good.

Feels very cheaply made they cut alot of corners to get it at the price and getting it on sale for $1,249 still feels like to much I have a lenovo legion 5i with a rtx 2060 its far superior in build quality features and performance is equal to this asus with non max q 2060. The asus sounds like a jet when playing games gets very warm doesnt have a camera, no number key. Power plug is on the side which sucks cheap plastic palm rest. This should be $999.99 max.

This little thing is a beast. I had an old rtx 2060 msi gs65 stealth but always wanted to play with a ROG laptop. and man this one is nice. I know it's a max-q model but don't let it fool you. I'm getting great fps in games like Warzone, Destiny, Assassins' Creed, even RDR2. I connect this laptop to a 1440p monitor and fps are still great. Asus uses 90watt variance of the max-q which is great. Thermals are great as well since Asus started using liquid metal paste on 10th gen GPUs, There's no need to undervolt. I'm getting 75-80c with turbo mode. The only negative is out of the 16bg ram, 8gb are soldered. I knew this before buying but 16gb is plenty for gaming. Other that than, I don't I got any other complaints.
Note, this laptop has no webcam. Maybe a negative to some, but not me..

I've purchased this one week ago. If you want flashy that screams "I'm a gamer" this is not it. If you want a good looking performance system, then take a closer look. After much research and comparisons, I found that this system performance/cost is outstanding. Initially I was considering a $1,200 budget, but RTX 2070 over 2060, 10Gen I7, 16Gb RAM, 1TB m.2 drive, the 240Hz .3ms IPS screen, WiFi 6, BT 5.1, permitted me to easily justify the 30% more I did spend. If you want some semblance of future proofing in a Laptop (hahahah) then this system should be the one to which you compare others to.
Keyboard feels great with large keys that are sufficiently spaced apart, by foregoing a number pad. Minimal Flex on the screen

I got this device to use as a 3d modeling and rendering machine. I don't tote it around as I don't need to, but as a laptop, if I need to, since I occasionaly do work at other locations. That being said, I leave it plugged in on a desk, which means I can't speak of the build quality when moving it around. Far too often, I've had a machine that doesn't handle wear and tear that well just moving it around the house for a year. But I feel that this machines build quality is much greater. But I'd be careful with opening and closing the lid; you can see it flex, which is why I'd recommend using both hands and gently raising or lowering it, to distribute flex force.
Being a windows machine, coming from a linux/raspberry pi/chromebook background, I do have faults with Windows itself. I have not tried setting up a dual boot into arch just yet, I'm sure it'll have it's quirks with asus running proprietary software to control the device speed, fans and keyboard rgb (RGB is very limited, don't expect much from it all). But being a programmer of several languages, and being familiar with hardware and operating systems on technical levels, I'd expect that. In fact, I needed a windows machine with an x64 processor for some specific tasks and I use my arm linuxy devices (or ssh into them) for when I want keyboard driven tasks.
To speak about the keyboard, as an avid terminal, vim and surfingkeys user, I feel I have more mistypes because of the squashiness of the keys (placement not pressure, which I might add, I love the amount of force needed, I may have trigger finger too though), but in windows, I don't use the keyboard as much (I wish windows would make it more keyboard driven), but I appreciate having the delete/insert, home, pgup/dwn, end keys.
From a power perspective. I can play with modeling and sculpting 3d objects with 1.5 million faces just fine. If I try and paint or alter many vertices at once, I find that I may hit ram limitations and have to wait several seconds. Rendering a scene with 115,000 faces at 1080 x 1080 at 130 samples with denoise on the compositor takes between 39 to 40 seconds per frame, which can be dropped to around 27 seconds per frame using optix and setting the device on turbo. It's a decent workstation over all.
If I needed to buy a family member a decent machine for computational tasks, I'd likely buy this one. If you need a webcam, you'll have to either buy one to plug into or you need another device. Personally, I would just one of my other devices for that task unless I needed it on this machine for some reason. I wouldn't compromise the power for a webcam.
Function F5.
To switch between silent (low energy use, slower, for more idle tasks), performance (still fairly quite until you push heavy tasks for a while), turbo (stays moderately loud on the fans, use headphones if gaming but seriously has power and is worth the time difference when hitting the gpu and cpu hard).
The speakers seem quite, you can feel it has some bass though, then you find out where to look. It's got some decent sound levels. Go into Sonic sound, which comes preinstalled and set equalizer to custom, and turn everything up. Then turn on sonic sound effects and choose your poison, I have voice clarity and bass boost. Now, I tend to keep my volume around 34% unless my tv stereos blasting and the dishwasher is on. I probaly wouldn't push it too high on the sound, because it sounds like it could blow around 78%, but if I turned the bass down a bit, it'll probably go all the way just fine, but the best part, I don't need to.
In summary, this is a decent device, where next level would be specialized hardware at a significant cost.

The ROG Zephyrus m15 is a powerful gaming computer packed into a small casing, and is extremely light. It also has a nice 240 hz screen and a good design. However, this is an EXTREMELY Loud laptop, and has pretty bad temps. The CPU has hit a high of 105 degrees Celsius when playing triple A titles, and the GPU stays between 60-80 degrees Celsius. If you are looking for a cool and quiet laptop, this is not for you.

Since this laptop is so impressive for the price you pay, I'm going to list the perks.
1. It is thin and light, but surprisingly sturdy.
2. The display is extremely bright, probably the closest I've seen for a pure white pixel.
3. While it is not a UHD, the screen more than makes up for the shortcoming with 240Hz display.
4. I'm a designer and illustrator, so having Adobe Creative Cloud is a must. Adobe products are just CPU and Graphics hogs, so it can strain a system better than most blockbuster video games. I pulled up my largest Photoshop file ( 5 GBs) and it handled it like a full on desktop.
5. Last but not least, it's not embarrassing to bring in public unlike most gaming laptops.

Great Overall Computer

I ordered this Computer when Bestbuy first offered it, the week of June 1, 2020. At the time I also owned what I would call the previous generation of this computer, the GU502GV-BI7N10, which BestBuy also sells, its in the same price range as this computer. I wanted to compare the two in Benchmark testing and upgrade options.
During the benchmark testing between this computer and the GU502GV, the CPU performance was noticeable better in this computer. This computer has the 10th gen I7 and the GU502GV has the 9th gen I7
When I did benchmark testing on the graphics card, the 2070 on this computer did slightly better then the 2060 found on the GU502GV.
This computer and the GU502GV have similar motherboard layouts. With the option to upgrade the ram and add a second SSD -
I put in a second SSD on this computer, the 1TB Samsung EVO.
This computer comes with a onboard 8GB ram module and a removable 8GB ram module. The GU502GV has an onboard 16GB module with an open slot for addition ram.
The information I was able to find for max ram for both computers is as follows.
This computer motherboard can have ram upgraded to 48GB, I am currently running 24GB
GU502GV can be upgraded to 32GB
Battery Life is similar. Both lasting around 4.5 to 5.5 hrs for normal use and 1.5 to 2 hrs with gaming.
Both have the option for USB C charging. This computer does come with thunderbolt unlike the GU502GV.
ASUS has four different modes of performance on both computers. Silent, Performance, Turbo, and Manual. When the computers enter into Turbo mode the fans can get pretty loud but that is expected due to the heat the CPU and GPU are putting out. This computer in my opinion does a better job with fan management then the GU502GV.
For the body difference they are almost identical besides the GU502GV having a metal lid, which is nice but leaves finger prints all over it.
Both computers are great performing machines but if you have the extra couple bucks for this computer versus the GU502GV. I would highly recommend this computer, since this is the one i decided to keep.
Game on!

I bought this primarily for the higher refresh rate screen to see how it compares to the G14. I eventually had to return it because the thermal performance was terrible and possibly defective from a bad application of liquid metal (it comes pre-applied to the CPU by Asus) I'll simplify this into pros and cons of this device.
Pros:
- Screen is great and the 240hz refresh rate makes a big difference in FPS titles.
- Excellent keyboard with good actuation and appropriately sized keys
- Design is great and the device feels well made
Cons:
- CPU has liquid metal applied, which my model had an extremely poor application as the temps on the cores was very inconsistent and poor overall.
- Very loud fans that struggled to keep the 10750H from thermal throttling. Constantly in the high 90s and spikes to 100C+ while gaming. This is unacceptable and in my opinion could shorten the life of the device.
- Philips head screws to access upgrade points...guys, it's 2021, stop using these easy to strip screws on devices. Razer is the only manufacturer I've seen on the windows side using torx...please follow their example.

This laptop is really powerful. The graphics are amazing. The sound from the speakers is amazing. The touch pad is awesome. The size is great for the power and performance.
Start up time is 5 seconds and shut down is a little longer but close the lid and let it do its thing.
I did return this laptop because of the fan noise. The fans are always running on medium, which was loud but manageable. But when you are running video or a game the fans are on high. They were so loud I had a slight muffle in my ear on the side that laptop was on when I was playing a game. If you are going to have headphones on the entire time you are using the laptop, you shouldn't have any issues. If you are in the same room with someone watching TV, they will not like the laptop.
I recommend this to someone who can keep the laptop at a distance while using it or wears headphones the entire time.
It really is a powerful, compact machine.

used it for 2 yrs, it's been pretty great and reliable, although if you plan to run games like cyberpunk on near max settings, obviously it will get kinda loud, and will overheat but if i raise the laptop w/ a laptop stand with holes on the bottom, it runs pretty smoothly (laptop has to be on power outlet though). A laptop that can do that in this day n age at this price is pretty dam good.

I would have paid hundreds more for this pc. I love everything about it!
I use it primarily for work and and gaming. This means that I am on this thing 7 to 9 hours daily.
-I love the thunderbolt port. I use an extra ssd hard drive as a portable back up. It's lightening quick.
-The Asus software allows you to change the noise of the fan. I keep my pc on performance because I like speed. In my work (mostly video conferencing) It is quiet. The Turbo setting has a loud fan, so I just pop in some headphones while gaming.
-I like it not having a webcam, for privacy sake. Also, most gaming laptop webcams are trash. I use my external logitech, when I need it. I just wish it didn't have a microphone, although I disable the drivers.
-Typing is excellent! I prefer this keyboard to a mechanical or my surface pro. I am not a writer, so don't put faith in my opinion here.
-I appreciate the building materials. I like plastic more than metal and glass. Those materials are great for food and drink, but this is high quality plastic that doesn't feel cheap. It feels good on the touch and isn't heavy or running too hot.
-Ports are nice! I was tired of my surface 1 usb port and expensive dock. It feels good to have something that is useful.
-Negatives: I don't like the placement of the power charging port. This pretty much it, but not a deal breaker.
Windows 10 is awful. This is not the fault of the laptop. I am tired of the push for online account vs. Local. It is becoming more bloated all the time . In 4 years, I hope to make this a good Linux laptop.

The graphics on this machine is beautiful. My husband has been gaming for 34 years and just had a desktop built. This laptop is everything his is but portable. Amazing quality, runs great, no issues with lag. However it does run warm. I do game myself for hours though. It gets to hot to let it set on my lap. The battery life dont last but 5 hours gaming. However there are settings that can be set to work plugged up and keep from allowing battery to over charge. Still would recommend. My son bought one a week after watching me on mine.

Amazing Laptop, It can play ALL AAA games at High-Ultra Settings with 100+fps, even Warzone. Silent mode is amazing if you're just at work not gaming. Turbo mode can get a bit loud, but that's an obvious given because high spec'd laptops like this needs proper cooling. Also, its amazingly thin and light for the amount of power and performance you get. 240hz is absolutely stunning. Everything I have is ASUS. Monitors, Motherboards, GPUs, ASUS is an amazing brand and will always stick to them. Personally, I think it is better than MSi, AORUS.

So far holding up extremely well. For purposes of performance as an example I am running Cyberpunk 2077 on Ultra with all Ray Tracing maxed out and keeping high framerates, really amazing. Have also run AC: Valhalla and Watchdogs Legion, both maxed out on graphics.
The only notable item so far is the laptop fans can be noisy, a smooth air-conditioner type volume, but noticeable at times. That said, this has been the nicest laptop I've owned, hands down. Not my first Asus ROG, either; this brand continues to prove very reliable.

I got this machine on the black friday sale and I think if you can get it for 1200-1400 USD then it's a great great buy (not sure about if the conclusion is the same at the MRSP given the new RTX 3000 laptops that are coming out)
This thing has being able to perform great at everything that I've thrown at it. I play a lot of esporsts title (CS:GO) which is not that demanding but high fps frames and the 240 hz screen is just a pleasure to game on.
When going with more demanding thinks, like COD Warzone, it also stacks very good, being able to play at high with 80-100 fps framerates (obviously on the turbo profile)
Only reason i'm giving this laptop a 4/5 is because the thermals are hard to manage. For example, at stock and turbo profiles you can easily reach 95-97 on CPU and GPU 86. The workaround is to undervolt both the CPU and GPU, which takes it down to 90 CPU and 83-84 GPU, which are still high temps, but you avoid throttling and are in a better scenario.
Still, asking too much out of the thermals of this machine is tricky since it such a small, light, and portable chassis.
Great job Asus and hope you can further improve the cooling solutions for the future models!!

Now i am a 16 year old who bought this laptop with hard earned money and i payed for a sale price so for starters the regular price for the laptop in my opinion should be lower but then again they are given a price to sell it but the laptop overall is good the graphics are amazing good fps and is slim fir a gaming laptop now when i first started using it i realized that the laptop heats up a lot but there are things you could do with in the system to make it cooler when playing but it is great other than that and the 1 Tb is i feel good enough storage as i have many games on it such as Gta,cold war, fortnite and way more and i still have a-lot of space and if u ever ran out of storage u could buy another 1Tb and put it in the system but this laptop is very good and i would recommend this to anyone who looking into a pc but doesn't have the space for a big system but i would suggest waiting for a sale to go on to get it for a better price then regular price.

Picked up this baby today at my local Best Buy and couldn't be happier. The build feels very good, sturdy, not flashy, just elegant. The keyboard is very nice and comfortable to type in, speakers sounds perfect to me, but then again I use headphones with laptops. Screen is excellent, 240hz/3ms and paired perfectly with the 2070 max q 90w variant, keep in mind, this is not the super max q, just regular max q, but trust me, it's really powerful. The CPU comes with liquid metal pre applied! That is so awesome, as one can imagine the temps are great...and if you toggle the fan key to turbo it gives the GPU and CPU and nice OC and keeps it very cooled. The laptop really is perfect for the price point, why pay for more with another brands for similar specs when this one has all the bells and whistles? And if you're unsure about this one or the G14, just ask yourself, if you want it for strictly gaming, get this, if you do content creation and a side of gaming, ge the G14.
Good luck and have fun!
