Customers commend the ROG Zephyrus M16 for its impressive performance, stunning display, and crisp graphics. However, some users report experiencing significant fan noise and heat generation, particularly during gaming. Concerns were also raised regarding battery life and the keyboard's design. While the lightweight design is appreciated, potential buyers should consider these trade-offs.

Asus ROG Flow X16 vs. Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 Review

Last year as I entered my senior year at university, and also started an internship where I was designing content for social media, including editing videos for presentations ..etc. While my Surface Laptop 3 served me well during my generals, it was meant for something other than the type of work I wanted to do. After going through several different computers, including the Dell XPS 15 with top specs and the Razer Blade 15 (2022), I settled on these two contenders. The Razer Blade 15 (2022) was great, but the screen brightness was awful. I could barely see it unless I was in a dark room. For close to 3K, I expected the device to be perfect, but the brightness and countless negative reviews had me return it. The Dell XPS 15 with Intel Core i9-12900HK and GeForce RTX™ 3060 was near perfect, from the build quality to the display. However, the I9 was too much processor for the XPS. It ran hot and hindered the performance of the device. The fans were running on full, even doing tasks such as light video editing. Had I opted for the I7 model, it might have been worth considering. After much research and the amazing experience I had with my Asus Zenbook in the early 2010s, I turned my eye to the Asus M16 with Intel Core i9-12900H 2892 and a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. In July 2022, Best Buy was running a promotion, and the device cost me $1600. As someone who is not a gamer, the matte display took some getting used to, but I ended up enjoying not having a glare. The lack of a touchscreen was also forgiven once I tasted the performance. Every task I threw at the M16, it handled with ease. I thought I had finally found the right device, but the ROG X16 was suddenly available. The ROG X16 (Best Buy Version) runs an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS and a GeForce RTX™ 3060 card. At the time of purchase, Aug 2022, I got it for $1900, after discounts (it was listed at $2100). Never having an AMD device, I was nervous about the type of performance I would get from the X16. It did not disappoint; like the M16, it easily handled all the tasks I was throwing at it. If you look at the photos below, you will notice that the X16 ran close to 10 degrees hotter than the M16. It wasn't a big deal for the type of tasks I was doing, such as photo and video editing. I imagine for many gamers, this might be an issue. The fans on the X16 are fairly quiet even when running at full. This is largely due to the size difference and build of the laptop itself. The X16 is thinner than the M16. Looking at CPU bench scores running on performance (no point in running GPU as the 3070 would crush the 3060 in the X16) using Geekbench. ROG FLOW X16 - Performance (default) mode Single-Core Score- 1429 Multi-Core Score- 8504 Zephryus M16 - Performance (default) mode Single-Core Score - 1453 Multi-Core Score - 8917 ROG FLOW X16 - On Turbo mode 1506 Single-Core Score 9237 Multi-Core Score Zephryus M16 - On Turbo mode 1813 Single-Core Score 13021 Multi-Core Score CONCLUSION (and which one I purchased) - I kept both laptops for close to 30 days (Best Buy says they have a 15-day return policy, but a rep told me most managers would allow you to return a big purchase such as a laptop up to 30 days). I got approval from the manager before holding on to both past the 15 days. The M16 Pros - - Better performance in Turbo mode, largely due to better cooling. - The matte display is nice when you are in traveling outside the home. - More ports M16 Cons- - The speakers were not as loud as I wanted them to be - Trackpad was not my favorite, and for typing long essays, I found my thumb touching the trackpad and moving my cursor (not fun when suddenly you are writing sentences in the middle of paragraphs you have already completed) - No touch screen made it annoying, as I use it often during video editing. - Battery life was terrible, I had to stay plugged in constantly (even in power-saving mode) X16 Pros - - Touchscreen - Brighter display - Battery life, while sub-par to other convertible laptops, is much better than the M16. - The trackpad is much better than the M16. - Fantastic build - Unique for a 16-inch gaming laptop to have a convertible 2-in-1 design. - Much more portable and travel friendly X16 Cons - - Speakers are just as bad as the M16. - Cooling doesn't compare to the M16. - Fewer ports than M16 due to the XGM port, which I have no use for (this would be a pro for gamers) I kept the ROG Flow X16, and I haven't regretted it. Easily the best laptop I have ever owned. I wanted to wait for this review until I had several months with the laptop. It is nearly six months since I originally purchased the device, and I have had zero problems. The pros for me and what I needed it for outweigh the cons. Final thought - If you are looking for a great multimedia laptop that is not Apple, the ROG Flow X16 is what you want. While designed as a "portable gaming laptop," I believe it is one of the best "creator" laptops on the market. It manages to balance portability with powerful specs without sacrificing too much power. If your primary use for the device is gaming, then the M16 is the device for you (or its AMD variant). The value + performance is unbeatable. The only comparable laptop I used was the Razer 15 (2022), and the M16 easily beat the Razer with its cooling system and much brighter display.

I love it. Just it gets dirty easy and heat comes out on screen. So it runs kinda hot but for a labtop. That plays starcraft 2. On full graphics extreme on all with no lag. Same with diablo 3 and. Many others. The screen when watching videos is beautiful. The 3d stuff is still new and is bound to have alot of flaws like the new graphic cards. The 3070ti. With the i9. Is solid. Thank you best buy. The only downfall is. Battery dies fast. Runs hot fans can be loud depending on mode u set. Otherwise. The plus is. Desktop. Gameing graphics. It beats my old alienware and. 40 gb. Is plenty of ram. U can always find ways to upgrade auch as the external graphics card i dream of.

This laptop keeps up with my desktop! Desktop is a i9 12900k with a 2080ti. For the price you can't beat it I think, a similar Dell with the same specs would run about 400 more. The design is pleasing. The display works great with it being 165 hertz, especially in gaming. But there is a bit of backlight bleed on mine also, but it really doesn't bother me too much. The battery life is really not great. But I knew that before buying. When getting basically a desktop replacement laptop it is not going to have the best battery life period. They can put the biggest battery allowed by airlines and it will still not be the best when gaming. But I expected that with what the laptop is sporting! An i9 12900H and a 3070ti will suck those cells dead quick when gaming! I was disappointed in the fact that they soldered 8GB of RAM on the motherboard, so if I wanted to upgrade later I only have the 1 slot to work with so I think the most I can install will be 40 GB total. I just don't like having 2 different size GB modules in any of my machines. But that is a bit down the road as finding DDR5 RAM is hard right now, especially laptop DIMMS of DDR5. Just wished they didn't solder the one on the motherboard. But even that is not enough to drop an egg down for me. I knew that issue before I bought it so they did nothing wrong in my eyes. But I also researched it for a while before I purchased it. And the other problem is the heat it produces and the fan noise. But I think Asus should come out with a bios update hopefully that will fix some of these issues. But they did use liquid metal instead of regular thermal compound and they have clever heat piping hooked up to the CPU and GPU. But these components maxed out while gaming in such a small form factor are going to generate some heat and the fans will rev up. I've been a very loyal user of Asus for a while. I use their motherboards and monitors in my desktop and I never ran into a problem that Asus did not take care of. I do think Asus will come up with a software fix for the heat and noise. They have one m.2 slot available for a storage upgrade. I just purchased a 1TB NVMe gen 4 drive to install as a games drive. I just couldn't find in an article or video what speed that M.2 is running. But that does make for a good upgrade for people, the fact that you won't have to uninstall the main drive just to upgrade your memory when you decide to do it. I would really recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a gaming laptop that can tackle triple A games now and for a while down the road. It does have some issues but so does every other laptop I've ever owned. Before I researched this laptop I was looking at a Dell that had 11th gen i7 and a 3050. It was 500 more and when I found out about this release I researched it and never went back to Dell. Would definitely buy it again.

Had to buy a 3070ti cz I couldn’t wait for the 40 series and got this bad boy for around 1600 dollars and i am more than happy. Even more after knowing that the 4070 and 3070 ti are equal in performance if not worse according to jarrods tech . I’m definitely happy with the purchase 1- I have heard there are alot of QC issues but i happend to score a lottery here i purchased an open box excellent and it happens to be perfect 2- cinebench r23 score at turbo was 18346 and at performance was 15310 and i am more than happy to use it at perfo mode because it is unbearably loud at turbo. IT IS VERY LOUD AT TURBO . Very very loud to the point i was considered it might blow up bcz the fans don’t stop ramping up and can go upto 65db where as performance was around 52-54 and that was comfortable silent was also around 40db and except for gaming silent mode is more than enough 3-gpu is perfect sure u can get a legion or a strix and get 5-15 more fps but they are not as professional and nice looking as this laptop also the weight this is seriously light . I have a legion for comparison and i am not a fan of the body it looks cheap although it’s very well built 4- It’s super well built but boy is it a finger print magnet . Had to get skins from amazon cz the fingerprints are annoying also I don’t see people mentioning this but the keyboard area is hard to clean yes it only needs a microfiber but it stains and u need a damp microfiber to really clean it sometimes. 5-battery life is alright i get around 6 hours with gpu off and that’s the best u are gonna get while editing a 1080p video on adobe premiere i got around 2hours and 36 minutes and while editing photos on photoshop i got around 3 hours 50 minutes and while watching movie i was easily getting 6 plus hours . Gaming I haven’t tried on battery power but i played a light game for about an hour and the battery was down to 46 percent although the game was not resource hungry (ror2) Fair warning as i was advised against this machine due to the Qc issues but i seem to see according to the best buy reviews that the QC ISSUES were earlier and now the newer products are not that delicate Minor backlight bleed almost perfect

Laptop pretty solid, picked this up around late april and the one I have so far been running pretty smooth and fast. Altough there was a few things I wish this was improved upon: 1) Battery: Unplugged, the m16 last about 2-3 hours with moderage usage. 2) It can get get pretty warm with moderate usage over time and fans can get a bit noisy when the built in fan turns on to cool the laptop. 3) 8gb ram is shouldered while the other is not but, this doesn't rewlly bother me since I can just upgrade later on with a 32gb ram stick. 4) Screen bleed it pretty common in LED laptops. Mines was very minimal so Im happy with mine. Apart from these few hiccups, this m16 is really solid and run smooth. Definitely a good deal for these specs, especially if you get it on sale.

I purchased the Asus ROG M16 a little less than 2 weeks ago. I must say, it is a fabulous gaming laptop. I got the one advertised with an Intel 19-12900H, Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti (120w), 16gb DDR5 RAM (8gb soldered on, 8gb swappable single channel stick), and 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. I installed a 2nd SSD, a 2TB Crucial NVM.e PCIe 3.0 SSD for extra storage. The TL;DR of my review is at the bottom in case y’all get bored/don’t have time with my comprehensive review. Screenshots provided of game benchmark/gaming. The pros: 1. Build Quality is excellent. Sturdy body, good keyboard, and the top panel doesn't have much screen flex. When I type, there's no screen wobble. The screen hinge is sturdy. 2. Good air ventilations. Top and bottom vents provide good air flow, and heat escapes the sides and back. The way the screen is designed to open, the hinge is on the bottom, so it angles the body to allow more air in from the bottom. 3. 16:10 display. It should be standard on all computers at this point in time. 16:9 shouldn't be a thing anymore. Great viewing experience. 4. 2500x1600 QHD resolution. I've watched and gamed on 1080p panels for the last several years and didn't care much for an upgrade. But after getting this laptop and experiencing QHD for the first time, I can't go back to 1080p panels. The 16:10 ratio adds to it. Movies, videos, and games look so much better. 5. Intel i9-12900H cpu is phenomenal. It's more power efficient than the 11th gen and runs cooler, too. The 11th gen was decent, but was more of a space heater than anything. 6. Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti at 120w is a great gaming experience for a 15 inch device. I get great fps in games. HZD I get about 80 on avg, at max 100+. Shadow of the TR around 80, pushing 100 at max. I experience almost no screen tears, stuttering, or freezes. I have been running games with DLSS activated at Quality setting to pump more frames out, without sacrificing too much image quality. There a couple screenshots provided to get idea on fps and temps. I've witnessed the occasional stutter, but that's about it. Mainly the components hitting thermal limit, throttling, or bottlenecking at times. That's pretty standard when doing heavy load for extended periods of time. I've pushed this laptop pretty hard since getting it, putting it through the ringer. This unit is holding up outstandingly well. 7. 165hz panel allows the games I've played to push 100+ frames. 165 seems like a sweet spot. And if this is Asus's cheapest QHD panel (16:10, 2500x1600 QHD, 165hz 3ms), then wowee, other manufacturers should make this standard. 8. 500 nits brightness. This should be standard on all high end laptops at premium prices. 500 nits has been great in the daytime when more powerful light sources (like the Sun) are around. It's perfect for at night, more than enough light for viewing. RGB color spectrum is almost perfectly accurate. Colors are wonderful on this thing on a matte finish IPS panel. 9. Battery life is decent. For light use (YouTube, Movies, typing up documents, ect.), I've gotten up to 4 hours. This is with the RGB on the KB off, screen at half brightness, turning off the gpu with the mux switch in Armory Crate. Under heavy loads, dedicated gpu activated for gaming, I haven't even bothered running on battery. I keep it plugged in. Gaming laptops do not last long on battery life while gaming. Some reviewers such as Mash IT and Dave2D have rated on- battery-gaming at about an hour before the battery dies. 10. Temperatures are surprisingly cool by gaming laptop standards. The deck of the laptop (keyboard included), get toasty. The KB area stays a bit cooler than the surrounding areas. But, it does get uncomfortable at times. While under heavy load, the cpu has hit 85 C, 90 at rare times. It has been hitting around 70 C on average. That's great by cpu standards, esp. from Intel! The gpu has hit that 85 C ceiling, but averages around 70 C. This is amazing. 11. The keyboard is a good build and sturdy. It did get some getting used to since it isn't as premium as Alienware keyboards. The response isn't as good as AW's, but has a good response time and travel distance overall. My last two gaming laptops have been Alienware (m11x and 17 R3), and those had outstanding keyboards. However, since I am used to the keyboard on the m16 now, it is a good experience. 12. Armory Crate--is is Asus's specialty software. There's a hotkey for it on the KB deck to access it immediately. Neat feature! Feels simpler and loads faster than AW's Command Center. Easy access to everything I need. Temp controls, Power limits, and can directly access the mux switch of the gpu without having to go in the BIOS. 13. Did I also mention the mux switch? YES! Every gaming laptop should have a mux switch. For those wondering, the mux switch is basically a software tool that allows you to switch and control how the computer behaves; for example, when gaming. It allows for a dedicated gpu mode where all the workload goes to the gpu for a smooth gaming experience or other gpu intensive tasks. In hybrid mode (cpu and gpu share the load) can create stutters and freezes, because the load is switching between the two components. 14. The design is subtle and doesn't scream gamer. Has a professional look to it, and unless someone is looking closely, they'd think it's a regular laptop. Very Ninja like! Gaming on a non-gaming looking laptop! The Cons: 1. My number one complaint. While I love the design of the laptop, where the screen is in front of the body, and lifts it up for better cooling. That’s where it also falls short. The bottom of the M16's screen gets most of the heat from the back vent exhausts. So under heavy load, the laptop dumps most of the heat exhaust onto the screen. Asus has said they have tested it and will hold. That's maybe for the short term. In the long term, what will that do to the screen? If I had gotten the ROG G15 16:9, I wouldn't be as concerned. Because there is a thick black bezel bar that takes the initial blast of the heat. However, the M16 doesn't have that bezel. So, the actual display takes on the heat. This is why I'm giving a 4 star instead of a 5 star review. I read a review where one person said the plastic under the screen warped due to the heat and had white streak marks on his screen, while it was on. The latter could be attributed to the heat on the screen. It must have messed with the electronics in the display. So, for peace of mind, I got the BB total tech membership protection plan in the event something like that happens to my laptop. I haven't found another review like the one I just mentioned, so it seems to be an outlier. But, I think it is valid. Dumping 70-80 C heat onto the display and no way of it cooling off while under load, gives cause for concern. 2. Keyboard is good. Just feels a bit mushy than what I'm use to. But, the keys don't respond at times and it gets annoying. I hit the key and nothing appears. So, it takes getting use to. I'm use to AW keyboards where they make outstanding ones with amazing build and response time. So, I use that as my standard for premium devices. I understand every manufacturer has their style and that's okay, but can still fall short a bit. But, it isn't a big deal on this laptop, just wish it had a better response time. 3. The charger port shouldn't be in the middle. It gets in the way of the other IO. An angled connector is great, but would be perfect if the charger port was moved up towards the hinge (like most laptops these days), and out of the way of the IO and vents. The angled connector would allow the cord to travel behind the laptop. If ASUS decides to keep the charging port where it is, I'd think a straight plug would be better. The cord would go out and away from the IO and vents at least. 4. My unit has some moderate light bleed. I understand that light bleed is a case by case basis, but my unit came with it. It has a major spot on the bottom left corner and top right, and minor bleeding on the bottom right. But it isn't so bad that I need a replacement. I can tolerate it. So, this isn't a big issue for me. 5. The RBG only has one zone lighting and control. In other words, the whole keyboard lights up one color. I think it should be standard to have at least 4 zone lighting. TL;DR This laptop is great. The Zephyrus line up has a unique design with the screen behind the vents and a hinge that angles the device up to allow more air flow at the bottom. It has a goodboard/bit mushy, and gets getting used to. The overall design is a great and sturdy build with no screen wobble. The panel is 165hz 2500x1600 QHD with good viewing angles. Movies and games look great. Sporting the i9-12900H and RTX 3070 Ti is a sweet spot and perfect for gaming and good temps. Armory Crate is good software with its simplicity and great outlook. Laptop does run hot (as is expected of gaming laptops), but gets uncomfortable to leave hands/wrists on the device at times. Even the keyboard deck gets too toasty for my taste sometimes. Screen behind back vent exhaust is a major concern of mine. Gets the heat dump from those vents and has the potential of ruining the screen. This one sole issue gives this review 4 stars. Overall, it’s a great device ASUS! I am not disappointed. I went with this instead of an Alienware device, because I had bad experiences with the AW x15 r1 and x17 r1 earlier this year. Those devices are great in their own rights, but I just happened to get bad units. The AW x15 r1 has a cheaper version of the x17's cooling system and after trying 4 times/sending it out 4 times, I gave up on it. It had horrible stuttering and freezing issues. Wiping, reinstalling, 2 mobo replacements, did not solve the issues. The x17 within the same day of getting it, had the same exact issues. The x17 is actually a great device and during the time it properly worked, it lived up to its name. Anyway, I absolutely love the M16. Great Job ASUS!

I don't know where to begin. I have the 12900H with a 1TB SSD and 16GB RAM with an Nvidia 3070ti. I also bought a Samsung 2TB 980 Pro NVMe SSD and 32GB Vengeance 4800MHz DDR5 RAM to go in it. One con to this model is 8GB are soldered to the board so the max for this model is 40GB. 48GB if you get the 32GB version. Adding the 32GB is a huge improvement and the price of the RAM with Best Buy made buying it a no-brainer. I also purchased the SSD at a fantastic price. Installing both the SSD and RAM was very easy. I replaced a 2017 MacBook Pro with this laptop since I wanted something portable I can game on. I also play around with Premiere Pro, Lightroom and Photoshop. I think I could easily run After Effects without a hiccup. My desktop is an i9-12900K with a 3080ti and 64GB of 3200MHz DDR4 RAM and this laptop with the 3070ti and 40GB RAM is comparable. I haven't played too many games, but AoE IV looks amazing on the display. I'll probably play some Cyperpunk to test out the 3070ti. I had a 3070 when it first came out and this is a bit of a step up. The WIFI is extremely fast and I have no issues with connecting or getting the speeds I expect. I highly recommend if you add an additional SSD to make sure you have thermal pad to add. This does run a bit hot when all parts are working hard. The Samsung SSD didn't come with one so I bought some from another online retailer. If I have one minor complaint it's the three lights at the back which shine onto the screen at the very bottom. I don't notice it on webpages in light mode. Very noticeable in dark mode. Some reviewers have suggested some electrical tape over the lights to keep the reflection down. Overall, this is exactly what I was looking for. I didn't want the 13000 series since the price is still up there, Best Buy still having the 12900H was enough power for my needs and the 3070ti is a good card for the gaming and some creative work I'll use it for. This is the first Asus product I've purchased. It will definitely not be my last. Overall, this is a great laptop at a very affordable price.

Pros: - This laptop is a beast when it comes to laptop gaming. I have been hitting around 250-300FPS in Valorant at high settings. - 12900H and 3070Ti (Mobile) performs around the same as a 11900K+2070 Desktop which is awesome for a laptop - The laptop is very sleek and feels like it's made of quality materials - Ton of port options -Screen is bright and beautiful Speakers are loud and clear - good bass Cons: - Sounds like an airplane about to take flight when playing a game - Hotter than the pits of hell - Idel around 60-65 -DDR5 was one 8Gb Stick and 8Gb Soldered - There is a space to the right of the ASUS button that gets hotter than the rest of the computer Charging Port is in a strange location If you are looking for a desktop replacement or a gaming laptop this is the one for you. For extended battery life and casual use, I would probably look somewhere else. The reason why I gave it three stars is, while it is fast and it works well, it idles at a higher temp that I would like for long term use and it ramps up randomly or with mild use. It also came with a decent amount of bloatware. I am not even that upset about the fans being 52dB at their loudest while gaming. For laptops that makes sense but for $2300 I expect a laptop that can switch between that gaming and executing light loads with ease at a low temp.

More of a 3.5… Overall great for my first gaming laptop purchase. Looks great (doesn’t look like a tribal tattoo) and runs great. Not the best bargain but worth it if you find it on sale. The sound is surprisingly better than I thought but I still mostly wear headphones. The overall weight and size is great and shockingly light. Cons: -battery life is not great, but I mostly play plugged in...which you should be anyway. You can adjust some of the settings to help with the battery but not much. -finger print magnet. -not enough room at the bottom of the touchpad, hand bumps it constantly. Easy to overlook if you mostly use a mouse. -runs fairly hot but the fans are quieter than I thought. -the biggest con is the backlight bleeding is super distracting and there are several areas that are darker. Anything that is solid white (like most websites) or black (the corners of YouTube videos or movies), or a darker game like Diablo, shows some sort of imperfection on screen. It’s wild to me that this is acceptable at the price you pay for a gaming laptop.

Great laptop and im super happy that i was able yo get it while on sale. Im still trying to find the best specs or to adjust the best possible mode for each application but so far so good. Insane laptop. One thing that I really don’t like is the battery life, it drains super fast, other than that is cool, and yes it can be noisy if you select the max option for power.

This laptop its awesome! and really looks great! the screen is one of the best I've ever seen in a laptop this category. Really sharp and runs every single game smoothly. Just some cons, it gets too hot, and the 8gigs soldered doesn't let you upgrade it the way it should. The 2023 model does have 2 separate DDR5 slots you can upgrade, but for the price this is a real deal!

First off - beautiful machine. Aestheticly pleasing in every aspect, fairly slim, all the I/O you could ask for, perfect. I really enjoy the materials, keyboard/bottom parts are like a matte finish, XL trackpad reminiscent of a Macbook, Mux key, keys are individually lit and feel lovely, webcam is okay. The deck/lid is really innovative in its style design, and the bottom has a nice sized rubber riser so it stays off the surface (and cords could be routed under if need be). Screen/resolution is flawless. This is the perfect screen for a laptop, hands-down. Snappy, vibrant, clear and sharp, absolute unit of a display. So, all good things there, great job. But... VERY cool laptop, despite being THE HOTTEST laptop I have ever encountered. Seriously, this thing is hot enough to actually burn you under not a lot of load. My old MSI Stealth under heavy load never got this hot, or anywhere close (granted, much lighter hardware, but much lighter cooling as well). I have seen laptops in catastrophic battery and hardware failure and didnt get burned. Playing RUNESCAPE, I am hitting 77C. cmon. Sure, I can turn the fans up and get it down to 65C (which is still just...), but it will literally sound like a box fan on full-send. I can play runescape on my phone, ASUS! It is louder than my desktop maxed out. Just inexcusable. I get that when there is a smaller form factor, heat is an issue, so fan speed/noise is the tradeoff, but an i9 and a 3070ti should not be sweating playing phone games. In idle, I am in the high 50's. But again, i9, its a lot of chip for a smaller laptop. There are a few takeaways here... I think that ASUS jumped the gun putting this out so fast. It needed more R&D to get the heat under control, better optimization is just a must. Also, do not buy this if your primary use (like 90%) IS NOT gaming. This is a gaming machine, with the added benefit that you can type a report and run through a spreadsheet while heating a small space. Bet your average space-heater cant do 3 of those things. Gaming on this, heat issues aside, is quite impressive. I got 80-150fps on CoD Vanguard multiplayer, easily 120- 200fps on Destiny 2, 100-120fps on New World steady. All on High settings, not quite maxed, but very close. These stats are very close to rivaling my desktop, which is a ryzen 5800x and 6900xt. Technically, the resolution on the laptop IS higher than my 1440p monitor, so... The only way it doesnt top the desktop, imo, is that my desktop wont throttle (which isn't quite a fair comparison) if I turned it up to ultra settings. Start up time is like 5 seconds. It actually takes longer for Hello to recognize my face than it does for this to be ready once it logs in. Everything exudes speed, and there has not been a single studder or hesitation from this thing from games, document work, larger file to file transfers, multitasking... great. Now that I am done roasting this laptop, (its steadily returning the favor right now) I just cannot recommend someone buy this $2,300.00 laptop with the heat being this out of control. I will add some stars if there was a better way to under-volt the CPU a bit in Bios or something to tame that insane heat, but until then, I stand by getting an i7/R7 in something this slim, or a beefier cooling system for that i9. Slim and i9 just dont play nice. Seriously, though, you CAN burn yourself on the parts just north of the keyboard. Its not an exaggeration in the least. Look at my pics, this is just the start up load, and its 108F. 111F after 1m in game, and not even playing, this is a menu. First degree burns on contact start at 118F. If you left your exposed skin on this spot for more than a few seconds, it will burn you. So prolonged on a AAA title, it will likely get there pretty quick

      Dear JayBols,

Absolutely, the laptop has an awesome aesthetic dsign.

We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are concern about the excessive heat being generated on the laptop.

Any PC with the same hardware configuration, regardless of the manufacturer, will generate more heat than normal while under heavy load especially during gaming, WINDOWS Update and antivirus scan. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full-throttle. Please ensure the air ventilations are free from obstructions in order to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. While gaming, please ensure no resource hungry applications are running in the background, this will definitely spike the temperature. The heat or temperature does decreases or normalizes once system resource utilization goes down.

Here's my actual quick review of the one I got. We all get it, you have reservations about the memory after seeing all those 2-stars. To be fair, you should not skip over this product just because of some memory config/memory reviews, you'd be missing out on a lot of good stuff! I'll be brief and list out the pros/cons so you can get back to shopping. PROS: +beautiful 16:10 QHD screen that is very bright! No deadpixels, literally ZERO backlight bleed on my unit +webcam is plus with Windows Hello support +amazing Dolby supported speakers +keyboard is nice to type on +INTEL AX wifi +powerful i9 and 3070Ti with MUX switch +temps are kept in check and do not go over 90deg during CBr23. KB is cool to type on +gen4 NVME ssd +the 3 indicator lights did not reflect on the screen that much unlike the 2021 model +fans are not obnoxiously loud CONS: -Memory, we get it, some folks are upset, but if you look at Asus' website, it literally says "Configs will vary by region, etc". so yeah, Asus doesn't say configs are absolute. And you should not just take the word of 1 Asus' rep. -surface does like fingerprints, not a biggie -wish could have a bit more usb-a -NVME gen4 stock drive would be considered budget level, speed was listed only at 3500, which is about the best gen3 speed; upgraded to a 980 Pro, which oddly the OEM version was the stock drive in last years, and got 6600, more like gen4! So there you have it. I'm going to be fair and knock off 1 star for the memory, even though it doesn't bother me personally, but come on! the rest of the laptop surely deserves more than 2!!

The M16's screen is the star of the show. The brightness and quality of images is fantastic and the reason I picked this up for my daughter. She previously had a lower end 15.6" 16:9 laptop, but after seeing the M16 in person I knew she was due for an upgrade. Performance is amazing for a laptop this size. Despite the screen size and high end components it is very portable due to it's thinness and choice of materials. We did have some thermal issues initially but just spreading out the liquid metal fixed everything and now temps are great. I've been a Razer Blade owner for my previous two laptops, but my experience with the M16 has me seriously thinking about jumping on the ASUS ROG Zephyrus ship for my next upgrade.

So, out of the box it's nearly perfect and you can see all the reviews online. Good performance, loud fans, compact, solid construction. Basically it delivers on the promise of good (but not great) performance in a thin+light package albeit with loud fans and some tweaking. But it's clearly not as durable as Thinkpads or MacBooks. My up arrow fell out less than a year after I bought the laptop. The arrow key cost a few hundred dollars, not to mention 2 weeks of downtime, to replace. The matte coating is peeling on every corner/edge of the machine (see attached photo). Worse, about 15 months in, the thunderbolt/usb-c ports seem to be leaking power and my touchpad randomly activates (jumping/clicking when I am not even touching the laptop) if I have anything plugged in. I just turn the touchpad off in Windows now. Honestly it's very disappointing. The laptop is practically perfect for me. 16x10 aspect ratio for all the work I do (PPT/Excel), strong CPU for my Excel work, Thunderbolt support (for my eGPU and fast storage) and decent GPU for my gaming while I am traveling on work. It delivers on everything... except durability. It would be four or five stars if it weren't for the reliability issues. That said, unfortunately, I still think it's the best in town. Razer has its own reliability issues (and worse in RMA data I've seen) while MSI just feels cheap out of the box. Lenovo's Slim legions just aren't as slim and are uglier to the point they can't pass for work laptops (I bring the m16 to client meetings)

I knew this was going to be an upgrade from my previous gaming laptop, but jeez I was blown away. Not only is the display beautiful and sometimes blindingly colorful, but the fps I'm able to achieve on games like Farcry 6, The Finals, and Tarkov, I'm blown away that on the full ultra settings on each of those games I'm able to run so smoothly with no screen tear and the upmost performance and quality I've seen in a long time in such a sleek package. Asus ROG is the best there is, hands down, and I'm never going with another company for as long as I live. I found my brand home and it makes me tear up a bit.

Overall a good laptop for school and home use. At school I have to run power save mode, and go into Armory Crate and set to Eco mode. Gives me like 6-7 hours on full battery which is plenty of time for an entire class day. Really silent! At home, I run everything I play on full settings and runs just as good as my desktop. I couldn't bring my desktop so I needed a laptop that I can use for both school and home use. Sleek, black design just about the same size as a Mac book. Only downside I would say if I was to go do long study sessions after class, definitely would need to bring the charger so that's just extra weight on top of my notebooks/textbooks.

Exceeded my expectation in laptop processing power

I have been sold on Asus products for quite a while now. Several years actually. From Laptops to Desk tops. All of my previous laptops however, weather it was Asus, HP, or Toshiba, I have always been dissatisfied with the performance. Extemely slow boot times, access times for programs and data after booting, Just poor performance in general, and even with the more expensive models. After recently building a new desktop using an Asus motherboard and an Intel 13th generation CPU I thought that maybe I'd give a new laptop yet another try. I was skeptical and looked on BB's website to see what was out there. I came across this Asus laptop, it was on sale for $1600, down from it's normal $2150 price point, even better yet, they had an open box one for $1400. Thought I'd give it a try and if, as in all previous attempts, found that it was like all the other laptops I've owned, slow as a snail, I just take it back. I'm thrilled I gave it a chance. The performance of this thing is WAY better than I'd ever dreamed. This honestly is the first laptop I've ever owned that, in my opinion, out performs my desktop. I have not physically timed the boot speed but I swear it is up and running inside of 20secs. and any task that I give it is blistering fast. I have even loaded some of my video editing software just to be able to test out the rendering speeds and I was PLEASANTLY surprise. It fully exceeds my expectations. To the point that I find my self using it even more than my desk top and my desktop is a 13th generation i9 processor. The memory configuration on this is rather odd. It takes DDR5 but one module is (8GB) is supposedly soldered to the motherboard and another removable 8 is in the expansion slot. Although I had absolutely no problem what so ever with just the 16 GB of memory, I've always been a bit of the type that I always want more so I installed a 16GB module replacing the 8GB for a total of 24GB which only helps the processing ability of this machine The Thunderbolt port is a very welcome addition too. The only thing I don't like about this laptop is its absence of a separate number pad. In the past I always made sure that any laptop I bought had that, Because of the difference in price of other high end laptops like this I had to just go ahead and get this without the number pad. Other than that, this is the perfect machine. It far exceeded anything that I have ever expected in a laptop. This is one purchase I most definitely do not regret making. I have seen people complaining about the battery life. Personally, it isn't any worse than any other laptop I've ever owned and I've owned a lot over the years. I am not sure what the complaints are about. What do they expect. And again, totally up there with any other laptop I've ever had, maybe even a smidge better. Very Satisfied

Extreemmly thin, light and quiet event when gaming. This laptop exceeded my expectations which I. Ssay is not easy. I've owned Alienware R1 & R2 and looked at getting newer one but price of $2700 was a bit steep. So I found this on sale for $1699. Compared to Alienware I say they may have edge on hardcore gaming 230+ screens however average eye can not tell the difference. Plus this machine is way more quiet while gaming in 4K of my Hensen Google TV. It very light, thin and I9 blows away anything I put on it. I also upgraded internal memory to 40GB with 2TB SSD. This is all I need for now. Love it.
