Pros Screen OLED display Graphics Quiet Idk if its mentioned or not I had to read it from the asus site but this has a quad vented dual fan with asus IceCool Pro for up to 150W Insanely fast Cons (more creature comforts) No face ID Battery life maybe (4 hrs max graphics) but im not sure whats notmal for gaming laptops No RGB or colored backlight keyboard I got this after returning AMD Ryzen 9 ROG. CPU was super fast, but it wouldnt load RS3 for sht. I almost got intel ROG but since i mostly only play RS3 i went with this for the nicer screen. Huge payoff, this cpu is so freaking nice. RS3 is pretty heavy on graphics usage & this will get hot if ran for a long time not as hot as the AMD one but if you have a fan or even just something to set it on so jt gets some airflow underneath it then its totallt fine. Battery life is like 3.5-4hrs playing RS3 on high graphics. I cannot explain how nice this screen is. I understamd why some people might not want a glass looking screen, but IMO going from one to not having one was just underwhelming. Some people complained about the keypad on the right hand side, it took a little to adjust but after like a week no issues. Ill try to post the pictures i took from my iphone of the graphics i was able to get with this CPU. I think this vs the ROG cpu’s just depends what you want out of it. I dont do a ton of games, but that AMD Ryzen 9 ROG couldnt handle RS3 (my previous intel 5 could even load rs3 on low graphics & it couldnt even do that) & hated screen so i decided to go for the creature comforts this computer had vs the intel 9 ROG laptop. The only thing i wish this had that those two do are the Face ID unlock feature & a RGB or at least one color (Blue or green preferably) keyboard backlight. I also have a protective keyboard mat over the keyboard & the backlight is bright enough to show through. I would 100% purchase this again & my wife now wants one too. Oh AND this laptop is GRAY not black, i was a bit confused because the one shown is black online which is what i wouldve preferred. Im not sure if the guy from best buy i talked to made a note or if it was an accident either way I got shipped a black one and i was stoked to have that happy accident!!!

Excellent performance. Can run most games at at least 60fps, in many cases the full 120hz. Appears to lack GSYNC unfortunately.

Solid laptop, although it severely needs an upgrade to RAM. It is nice the capacity for RAM is 64gb. The display is superior. OLED is like magic. lol The experience ordering through Best Buy online was easy too.

    My First Gaming Laptop

So let me be clear, I am no guru in the realm of PC parts. But Ive learned a lot lately in the PC space over the past few months of looking into a new laptop, and here are my thoughts on this Asus. Initially I didnt understand why THIS laptop isnt officially considered a “Gaming” laptop. After research, I found three things that seem to make the difference from calling a laptop gaming or not. The speed of maybe the ram and ssd which only matter much if transferring large files. RGB lighting really seems to be a common thing, which I care nothing about. And how many hertz the screen is, 60, 120, 144, 240hz etc…. Most laptops I found that were considered gaming were 144 and up. This laptop is 120hz. I am not a competive online shooter gamer, so 120 is more than enough for me. Not to mention I have been a console-gamer since 1987 so consoles really have not even hit the consistent 60fps and only a couple games hit 120. With all that said, to me, this is a gaming laptop. It has a 13th gen i9 980hx cpu, a considered mid range, 8gb vram rtx 4070 gpu. 16 gb of memory and a 1tb SSD. Im playing Red Dead 2 with just about everything ultra settings, a few things at medium and Im running it at an average of 75fps. As a hardcore console gamer, that is well beyond my XBox Series X at only 30fps. There is a difference in immersion when playing something like RDR2 at over 60 fps at almost max settings. This laptop does it. And I havent even mentioned the best part; I will NEVER EVER, get another TV or laptop if the screen isnt OLED!!!!! Holy s#!+. The screen is phenomenal. The deep blacks and the way the colors pop, SUPERB!!! And of course the screen is up to 120hz so the motion of like the mouse is butter smooth (chef’s kiss). This comes with 2 slots of ram. One of those slots has 16gb in it already. You can have a total of 64gb ddr5 4800 sodimm of ram in this laptop. Im going to add a $87 32 gb stick from Amazon for a total of 48gb for now. There is one SSD slot that has a 1tb in there. You can replace it with a 2tb. Ill do that later. Downsides. For any laptop, what you get is what you get. You can only swap out the SSD and Ram but the CPU and GPU is stuck. With this laptop, the CPU is great, the GPU concerns me. Im fine with the 4070 but its the vram; its only 8gb which is mostly fine now and perfectly fine for any game that will be made before 2025. But after that I dont thing 8gb of vram will be enough. 12 will be standard. To be fair, most laptops now come with 8. You got to pay a ton more cash to get 12 at this time. Oh, and I got this laptop last month for only $1499 as opposed to its regular $1999. If you pay $1999, consider some other laptops too like the 2024 Asus G16. But if you see this laptop for $1499, thats a really good deal at this time. Also, i think the quality of this laptop is solid, chasis is plastic but the lid I believe is a type of metal. Keyboard lights up white. The layout of the keyboard looks clean and all key presses are fine. Overall, Im happy. I have the Bestbuy Total membership so I got 60 days to return it with no questions asked, but seems like a keeper to me. I expect it to serve me well for a long time because Im primatily playing a huge backlog of games and they all run like butter on this. Oh, and all other regular computer things like web surfing and so on are fast and smooth. If you are on the fence, I think without a Bestbuy membership, you have 15 days to return with full money back. Thats more than enough time to dive in and see how it feels.

Overall Insights After a Few Months

TLDR: Laptop is great for those who need a portable machine capable of both gaming and creating, and it's great for movies too. Has some tradeoffs, but is overall great for the price for my use case. Pros: Great screen, CPU/GPU get a lot of power, expandable RAM, Software covers most needs, lots of ports, audio for headphones seems above standard quality/volume, fans are lower pitched and quieter than older ASUS mobile workstations of similar cost, keyboard feels good, large trackpad, functional webcam cover, neutral design aesthetic makes it good for the workplace, comes with Dolby Atmos, fingerprint sensor is good. Cons: No expandable storage (boooooooo), no customizable RGB keyboard backlight, BIOS adjustments are limited, no adjustable fan curve, webcam quality is middling, keycap design is unnecessary and a little corny, downfiring speakers (quality is passable, though), no USB-C on left side of machine, palm rejection is awful, webcam doesnt do facial recognition, performance mode is too loud while regular is too weak.

This ASUS model is by far the best for the money, regular price or my sale price. It has the 24th best GPU and the 4th best CPU! The screen is incredible showing very minute detail. It will warm up when you push it but I have a BESIGN LS03 laptop stand (Amazon) that elevates my hands about 4" from my lap to prevent my wrists from bending. The stand sits on my Safesleeve that protects my lap. The computer has no restrictions to ventilate and doesn't burn my lap. Setup took some time so I got help from the GeekSquad and had them install the 32MB RAM because Windows 11 consumes about 9MB alone. A few software glitches. I am using dark mode, or you can use light mode, because the Contrast Themes in settings interfered with some websites. The only questions is do you use the computer on battery a lot or plugged in? I rarely need to use it away from home and I do take the brick with me when I do. The charge using common applications only lasts 2-3 hours. When only the best will do for a modest price I can recommend this computer.

pros: 24 core 13980HX CPU, 3200x2200 OLED with 600 nits, 4070 GPU blows everything away and in high res glory. Nothing to complain about. 16gb and 1tb middling... cons: cranking everything up in a 3d game will last you 30 minutes going from 100 to 20% battery so be warned. Screen VERY flexy, but thats OLED for you. Whole surface is a smudge magnet. Very muted appearance of the chassis but thats nitpicking.

I immediately replaced the ram with 2 x 32 gb gskill 5600 and the ssd with 2tb samsung pro. Runs a bit hot, but did a good job keeping up with recently released games. Chassis could be a bit sturdier. The screen is really nice. Overall a really nice laptop.

Powerful & robust laptop for those wanting OLED

Excellent screen quality you would expect from a OLED screen, proper robust cooling for running a 4070 mobile GPU, and great build quality. Keyboard is enjoyable to type on as well, and the software that comes with the laptop does a great job to enhance your ability to fine tune and control things rather than get in the way or be bloatware. Battery life isn't great but this is not the class of laptop you should buy for extended use away from a power source. Will definitely be a laptop I keep as a daily driver for many many years to come, and hope to keep as a robust machine hanging in there in through next decade even! Find this on sale and be okay with paying more for the stunning OLED screen and you can't go wrong.

Pros: Fairly good build quality with a metal lid (expected plastic) and even the plastic is pretty solid. The laptop is very powerful while also being fairly quite at the same time. The OLED display is beautiful And finally it is fairly portable at ~4.19 pounds so being a student that is a plus. Cons: The battery life is realistically gonna be around 4-5 hours but I was able to squeeze 5-6 hours out of it by lowering brightness, optimizing for battery, refresh rate to 60, and a few others (time given is for mostly typing and reading documents). Under heavy use, expect like 1-2 hours. The software. I do not know what ASUS is on but I expected to have certain setting changed to optimize for better life, but as soon as I unplugged it did something since the screen went dark for a second or two, then I checked the screen refresh rate, still at 120 hz and the laptop did not change over to battery optimized like I would expect since that is a feature that ASUS has on some if not most of their other laptops, but that is not even the worst part as ASUS advertises a MUX switch but when I went to enable it, it would restart then I realized the Windows hello fingerprint was not working and then when I entered the pin, it pops an error code forcing me to sign into windows to have it reset. I know these a small but I had expected better from a laptop I paid 1900 for and the MUX switch issue may not even be ASUS’s but I wish to have these issues fixed soon.

absolutely fantastic laptop. does everything I need it to do for my business during the day, and then plays any AAA game title with the highest native screen setting available at night. And with the best screen I have ever seen on a laptop its fast and snappy RAM makes wait times for load screens almost non-existent. Kudos ASUS you guys get an ADABOY for this one.

Been using it for a while. The cooling and performance are, as expected more than sufficient for something of this class. The screen is just *chef's kiss*. But, it's the little details where it feels like a laptop of a lower category, with no GSync, or the weird keyboard colors and a surface that cannot be cleaned to a spotless surface. That along with a little underwhelming battery takes a it notch below excellent for the price.

I truly Love This product. This is my 2nd Asus Laptop. My first one is still going 12 years, the only thing wrong is windows is outdated and cant take the upgrade. Its a little slower too. But I will never buy anything but Asus. I am on here all the time. I work 2 jobs from home. They do everything I need. And the speed is so great. Could have better battery life. But cant have everything. This laptop is a powerhouse for sure!!

An absolute beast of a laptop. For any creators or gamers, this laptop may be for you. It can handle all the newest games, 3D rendering, video editing, or any of your other needs...as long as it's plugged in. I do think this laptop is fantastic, but the battery life is horrendous, lasting around an hour, and even less if you have any software open. Pros: - CPU/GPU pairing is a beast - A speedy, 1TB SSD - The OLED screen+sRGB accuracy is beautiful - RAM+wifi card are easily upgradable - Easily accessible fan settings Cons: - There's a constant whine from either the CPU or fan...seems to be an issue with this model (but it's not harmful) - The fan can get LOUD - Atrocious battery - You cannot undervolt the CPU

The chassis is made of some type of polymer with not much metal but it is very well built and light. This is a gaming powerhouse for the price!
