This is a great laptop with one obvious shortcoming: 8GB of soldered, non-upgradable RAM. Using this otherwise-relatively powerful laptop will always be a slower, more frustrating experience than it otherwise would if they simply offered the option of 16GB for +$100 or even +$150 (for reference, a 16GB of top-shelf DDR5 only costs +$35 to buy at retail over 8GB so massive profits are to be had.) They don't, however, offer such an option. So, looking at it as configured: its' fine. It can do basic tasks easily. The screen is great (once reconfigured), the speakers are good (again, once reconfigured), it's quiet, (again-again once reconfigured) the battery life lasts all day, and Windows 11 is... Windows 11. First, the screen. It's a 90Hz OLED panel with beautiful color accuracy which is configured as a... 60Hz panel with terrible colors out of the box. To change this: hit start, MyAsus, click "Splendid" and set it to 'normal' and Display-P3. It comes in 'vivid' mode. Next scroll down to Refresh mode and set it to 90Hz fixed. The battery life difference is negligible but the visual difference is huge. While you're here you should test the different sound modes to see which works best for you. The default sound profile is extremely muffled and it's hard to even hear. I'd suggest either 'music' or 'Dynamic'. Also here you can consider the Numberpad Lock setting. Turning it on disables the press-to-enable trackpad button. Finally, consider setting the fan profile to whisper mode. This might slightly impact the performance but it makes it dramatically quieter and more pleasant to use. If you're considered *at all* about performance or "GaMiNg" then you're looking at the wrong laptop entirely. This machine has too little RAM and the Intel Xe graphics don't support most games. Now, OLED: should you buy it? If you're looking for the best colors and response times, certainly but you need to know some things: burn-in and image retention is real. You should be cognizant of your usage habits and be prepared to adjust if you want an OLED panel, I've had an HP Spectre X360 13 OLED for several years without any issues but I enable auto-hide task bar and make sure I don't leave one unchanging window up for hours and hours. Also, do not disable the screen saver which will refresh your display when you leave it on but inactive. If you're not willing to make these compromises then I'd strongly suggest an LCD panel instead. The final suggestion is to go to "Customer Support" in the MyAsus app, then "LiveUpdate" and select "Latest". There should be quite a few, simply download and install them in sequence. Note that the update(s) marked UEFI, BIOS, and Firmware will require you to restart your computer and let it sit at a black screen for up to 10 minutes for it to fully complete. Do *NOT* turn your computer off during this. Let it complete and finish itself. So there you have it: an inexpensive laptop with a great screen somewhat ruined by lack of RAM and with some compromises. It's definitely not a must-buy but it is great for my specific use.

Very nice all arounder. Screen is amazing out of the box and speakers are loud which was surprising. Really digging the 16:10 aspect ratio. Compared to the Samsung galaxy book 2 this is a bit heavier and build quality isn’t as nice, but at $500 it’s packed with value. Only real con is the soldered memory and heat. This thing gets real hot and the fan on regular doesn’t seem to do much, I really think the 12th gen intel needed more time in the oven because it’s not done. Laptop also seems to stay on when the lid is closed and multiple times I’ve caught it awake when it’s supposed to be sleeping, definitely going to have the start punishing it. Overall it’s a great windows machine if you need something basic. You could get away with some esports but it’s more for productivity here.

This is a heck of a computer. I am traditionally a Mac user. Before owning this computer, I had a 2017 MacBook Pro, which I sold and literally paid for this with the money left over; and what a huge upgrade I got! Here's my rundown: PROS: *Gorgeous 90hz OLED display: This display is out of this world in comparison to laptops even double the price. *Quick performance *Loud speakers (not as clear as the MacBook, but far louder!) *Good keyboard and trackpad CONS: * "Creaky" body (try to pick up the laptop in the store to know what I mean!) *Annoying fan noise. It will spool up and down constantly if it is under any sort of load; rather than maintaining a stable frequency. It's annoying to listen to it always go UP and DOWN, UP and DOWN; and that's on the latest firmware. *Battery life is just decent *Wake from sleep issues (frequently I'll wake it from sleep and it'll have to turn itself on completely, instead of being an instant wake like what you'd be used to with a Mac or other PCs. IN SUMMARY: This is a heck of a computer, and you'd be hard pressed to find anything even close for the price you're getting it for; ESPECIALLY if it's on sale. I'd say it easily holds its own against computers double its price, and that is simply awesome.

Got it on sale for $550. Best bang for the buck. Will breeze through basic tasks. Of course, 8BG Ram is a bit anemic, but as mentioned, works fine with basic stuff. What's interesting is that I've installed Premier Pro and edited 1080P footage without issue. Exports were about 20% faster than my 9th gen i7 RTX 2060 gaming laptop. The intel i5 12th gen is no slouch. Don't expect 4K footage to run as smoothly though this I did not test. Also installed Pycharm for python programming. Ran fine. I did adjust the swap file settings to help out with possible memory issues. This will likely decrease the lifespan of the SSD, but should be fine if the number of concurrently opened apps is restrained. The SSD is also small at around 256 gigs so an eventual upgrade would be nice anyways. Of course, the Ram is soldered on with no option for an upgrade above 8GB. The OLED screen is the main attraction, and for the price, this 14 incher cannot be beat.

Amazing laptop for the money. In many ways it is better than a macbook released the same year, and half the price! I specifically chose this laptop because of the screen and the big battery. I just don't like the Ponder Blue color as much as some others

At $750 it's a good price, at sale price of $550 it's a steal. And the star of the show, the OLED screen. Capable of 90hz and 2ms response time. With HDR content it can achieve over 600 nits brightness. To find this type of screen quality one would have to look at laptops costing $1,000+ To get it for $550 is simply unbelievable. FEATURES: The EVO i5 is sufficient, as is the 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD. Has two USB-C / Thunderbolt 4 ports, allowing for USB-C charging and two external monitors through these ports, along with one external monitor through HDMI. The numeric pad built into the touchpad is smart engineering and works quite well. Backlighting for keys has three settings, unique at the least. Speakers sound good and provide a sense of Dolby Atmos. Keyboard feels great and easy to type on. Fingerprint reader integrated into the power switch, works well every time. BOTTOM LINE: I would pay $750 for this ZenBook, and be happy. To get it at the $550 sale price makes me giddy. Having compared a number of laptops from selling seasonal at Best Buy, and now purchasing my own, it simply cannot be beat for the price. It's all about the OLED screen, everything else is the icing on the cake.

Need for online schooling only. Using microsoft office and websites only. Work good with youtube as well. Connected to external 24” QHD monitor, image is clear, and because of this, i am not concerned with OLED burn in or fading. With 2 thunderbolt and a HDMI 2.1 port, the value is there. Initially purchsed gaming laptop due to sale price, but senses realized this machine is all i need and more for my situation at half the price ($549.99)

I badly needed a new laptop and did a lot of researching before I bought this one. And I'm glad I did because I definitely made the right choice! First off, let's start with the screen. I can tell a difference with the OLED screen and I love it. But the real deal on this laptop is the speakers. The sound is so clear and crisp, which I'm sure it's because of the Dolby Atmos. It's truly the best sound on any laptop I've used. In the past I've struggled trying to hear the sound but the sound on this laptop is amazing. The laptop is small and lightweight but packs a lot of power. The only issue I've had with this laptop is every once in a blue moon it'll glitch and the bottom taskbar won't show up but it's a simple fix with Ctrl Alt Del and restarting the laptop. I truly love this laptop and I'm glad I picked it. I got it on sale for $500 and it is worth every cent. If you're questing whether to get it or not, GET IT!

It's unclear how such a new laptop which is already a great value at $750 was discounted to $500 mere months after release, but it made me purchase it. 8GB soldered RAM is the only thing that i don't like on the spec sheet, but it's still enough for 90% of my tasks, only photo editing in Lightroom requires more in my use cases, but i can do small batch editing to get around that. If there was the same model with 16GB ram for $150 or so more I would blindingly buy that instead. fan noise is not as bad as i expected. Yes, it does get loud under load but as does any laptop. Given there is only 1 fan inside, it needs to spin way faster to get enough airflow compared to a dual fan system. Even then, at its loudest it sounds like my 4-year-old gaming laptop idling with 2 fans (Dell 7577 w/ i-7-7700H). Still if one doesn't like fan noise (like me) just run the system in Whisper mode (see fan profile settings in My ASUS app), and the fans are practically inaudible. It's hard to perceive any performance difference is general tasks. I practically never heard the fans but slightly slower performance in very demanding tasks. I attached Cine bench results for reference. Pros: - As one would expect, OLED is gorgeous and will not disappoint. - Great keyboard for my taste. (Coming from Dell Inspiron keyboards, this was a treat to type on.) - Nifty number pad feature which does come in handy for me as my work sometimes requires me to do number crunching. The trackpad can still be used as a mouse pointer while the numpad is active and it can differentiate between you typing numbers and trying to move the mouse. If one is used to touch clicking, then sometimes you might type a number instead of clicking but just after using it for a few days I'm comfortable with it. Numpad can be toggled on/off pretty easily too and can be fully disabled via My ASUS app if needed. - Quick toggles for killing mic and camera are helpful. -The i5 12th gen is way faster than i7 from last gen, which is great to see. - Whisper mode (My ASUS app fan-profile setting) still maintains decent performance for productivity tasks so please use that if fan noise is a big deal for you. -Upgradable SSD to PCIe Gen-4. (Gen-3 installed but given the cost i can't complain). - 2 X Thunderbolt 4 for future e-GPU expansion as prices for GPUs are currently dropping into the reasonable realm. - Weather you enable or disable the Fn lock, arrow keys always stay arrow keys unless you press and hold the Fn key to use the Home/End/Pg-Up/Pg-Dn functions. I was using 'Samsung Galaxy Book S' which switched to the secondary functions when Fn lock was engaged, and it used to drive me crazy. - I am seeing around 10-12 hours of productivity battery life when i switch the screen to 1920X1200 resolution and 60 Hz. All i care about is the OLED part, because at this size, the higher resolution and refresh rate don't add to my experience and just drain the battery. (The processor uses way too much power at idle in my experience, I just dropped the minimum processor state to 5% in the advanced power settings to see if that helps. Hopefully i can squeeze out couple more hours like that) Cons: - Bluetooth headset. details below. My biggest gripe with the computer is the Bluetooth part. one review mentioned having Bluetooth audio problem but i was hoping it might be an isolated case given the overwhelmingly positive reviews, but to my disappointment Bluetooth headphones behave "weirdly" with my laptop. I cannot find a better word to describe it because it works fine when you initially connect it and everything seems to go smoothly, but after some time the audio gets stutters, and the stutters keep getting more frequent to a point where you hear more stutter than actual audio even though the vide is playing smoothly. One way to temporarily fix it is to switch off the Bluetooth and switch back on, but stutters just start happening after an hour or so & getting worse in about 1.5 to 2 hrs. I narrowed down the problem to "Intel smart sound technology for Bluetooth audio" driver. After updating the driver though i had a new problem - If i stopped playing any audio over my Bluetooth headset for about 30 mins or so, and then try to play something, I do not get any sound over my headset even though video keeps playing. Even system sounds stop coming through. I tried switching the headset off and switching it back on again, but still no audio. Again, the temporary solution is for you to toggle system Bluetooth off and back on again. Right now, i just disabled the driver but that means i cannot use my headset's microphone for calls. They only connect as headphones with no microphone detected. Current driver version is 10.29.0.7082 so whenever a newer version is available, I will try again.

Overall it’s extremely nice with awesome graphics. The downside is it gets extremely hot, which can make it super inconvenient. The battery drains very quickly so you’re not able to depend on taking it on the go without taking the charger. I am considering a different laptop.

Very good for the price point. It feels like a high end laptop despite the price. Love the thumbprint reader and the HDR oled screen. I use it to play World of Warcraft every few months and it is perfectly sufficient for that. 60fps at medium quality, with the screen it looks pretty nice. There is some slight jittering with the newer content but nothing you wouldn’t expect with a laptop. It gets warm like you would expect but it is noticeably cooler than previous generations of laptops. I wouldn’t count on it to run a super wide variety of games, but it works for things like age of empires and warcraft and legacy games.
