besides improvment in headphone audio was able to plug into pc usb port and with shielded 3.5 connector to aux in a seperate amp worked as dac to amp speakers improving audio.

I purchased this after reading an article. I plugged it into my iPhone Xs and was pleasantly surprised. With a GOOD set of headphones the volume was louder and the music was cleaner and crisper. If I had to put a number on it, I would say it was a 20-30% improvement in sound.

This puts my old Sound Blaster to shame. For gaming, it has much better sound imaging and it's easier to pinpoint footsteps earlier.

I admit that I was told on this thing actually working as advertised. Boy, was I wrong! This opens up the soundstage with my headphones to levels previously achieved only with my McIntosh amplifier at home. Truly, the best $100 upgrade for a MacBook or surface pro!

I bought the Audioquest Dragonfly black DAC for improving my listening quality from my lossless files and streaming. It sounds great with headphones or connected to my integrated amp. Very pleased.

I read about this fully and purchased it, very satisfied with it. I ripped all my CDs to Apple lossless. You can hear the music much clearer with my HardonKardon headphones. Sound & Vision Dec 2016 has an in depth review.

Really made a difference with the sound quality coming out of my computer to my audio system. The headphone jack was very low and sounded kind of bland out of the notebook computer. Plugged this in and the quality and sound went up. Have the cobalt version of this too and don't really notice a difference so red is fine.

There are many tiers of this DAC, with this one being the lowest. To my ears, this is better than anything else I've used. As long as it still works, I will always use it. Much better than the electrical interference that happens with a motherboard's sound card.

Wanted to improve the digital music experience on my Galaxy S7. Dragonfly black gets the job done, improves the soundstage, bass sounds better. The key is you have to use USB AUDIO PLAYER PRO. I also use it on my desktop at work, now I can HEAR the music.

I was skeptical, but this little guy blew me away. I'm using it primarily with a Samsung Galaxy s10 and Sennheiser HD650s and the difference between this and just using the headphone jack on the phone is night and day. I use this same phone as my primary means of music in the car and was curious how much difference it would make there. I'm just using the stock head unit, but with upgraded speakers and a subwoofer/amp. And again, the Dragonfly is miles better than just plugging in my phone by itself. I had of course assumed it would be better, but not to the point it would be noticeable in a moving vehicle. I was wrong. It's a big enough difference that I now really hate listening to music without it. Which tends to happen since I have to unplug it if I need to instead charge my phone. For future buyers, though, note that the firmware this shipped with had a volume bug with Android phones. This has been resolved but you'll have to update the firmware with the Audioquest device manager app (available on audioquest.com) using a PC or Mac. If this isn't available to you, the USB Audio Player Pro app available for both Android and iOS fixes this problem as well, though the app is only compatible with a very small selection of streaming services.

The build quality of this is stunning! These were driving my HD 560s with such power and clarity. It feels nice to the touch, and comes with a little leather pouch to keep it safe! Just be aware that this only comes with a 3.5mm jack in and a usb out.

If you enjoy Hi Res Audio this device is for you. This really brings out everything great in music. After having a DAC i would never go without one. The red is great but the Blue Cobalt is amazing. You have to justify if the $100 extra for the Cobalt is worth it. I will say I couldnt get this to work with my Android Samsung Note 20 Ultra but the blue Cobalt works just fine.

High end DAC found in audiophile quality gear with an equally clean power amp to dramatically improve the quality of most digital music files. As a professional musician who both knows and demands that music must be accurately reproduced to be best enjoyed, I can recommend Dragonfly to my peers and any and all music lovers who want to hear a recording as intended by the artist. This little device does exactly that. The DAC alone sold me. Could not be happier with this purchase.

I thought a dedicated DAC was all just a bunch of hype, but it really is necessary if you have/plan on getting higher end headphones. The audio coming out of this is much more leveled and smooth, and very noticeably clarified highs such as cymbals and tambourines in the music i listen to. It is also very compact and plug n play on my windows 10 pc.

I know this is a portable headphone DAC, but... I needed a dedicated streamer and this makes my iPod Touch 7 rock! Now, I am over 60 and suffer from tinnitus so spending over $500.00 for something like the Bluesound Node 2i seem like an expense of diminishing returns. So if you have a device that streams like a table and access to HD music, the DragonFily is a great jumping off point into the world of HiFi Streaming!

Much improved sound when using this DAC than previous.

Hits all of the right buttons; Great sound, very compact and excellent build quality! Doesn't have quite the same audio quality or features as my Fiio X7 Mark 2, yet it's a fraction of the price and much more portable. If you are just getting into high def audio over the typical smart phone audio quality, this is the absolute best product to buy!!! AudioQuest also sells excellent adapter cables for iPhones & android phones! Highly recommended...A+++
