I have been using this smart lock for 3 weeks now. It’s been easy to use, easy to setup for beginers who are just getting into smart home.

I like the August smart lock, very easy setup and works great, but I wish that you didn't need AA batteries. I got it for my sister birthday gift and she loves it, no complaint from her at all.

After lurking for a year I finally decided to buy the Augist door lock. I am very pleased. The only thing I would ding this product for is that it sometimes it doesn't sense my presence to unlock the door when I get home.

it's ok , install was easy ,only drawback is no connection outside your house unless using another device like the bridge . you think with the size it should include it too.

My smart home is setup with a plethora of HomeKit and Alexa products. This lock setup and installation was the easiest by far.

wanted a smart lock for my back door at the house. didn't need a keypad but this one does has other options. Installation was simple as this hooked up to my existing key. paired with home kit in minutes. I would say the total installation time was around 45 minutes only because I had to modify some trim due to the size of the lock.

I really like August. You can set an auto lock time (30 sec, 1 min etc). That's helpful and I know it works because I leave my door open a lot for a breeze. It locks it. I was nervous about the auto lock. It's still an odd feeling leaving your home without locking it behind you. I give this 4 starts and not 5 because even though it comes with 3 different connectors for instalation I had to buy new locks because the pieces inside the lock were too short. Look up what locks work first, then make your decision. We almost returned it because of the additional cost of new locks. We had to weigh out how much was it worth to us.

I use the August HomeKit smart lock with the August doorbell on iOS10. The lock works well with Siri, but when using the August app, it's a bit slow. I think that's a limitation of the app, not necessarily of the lock. I've set up guest access for the cleaning lady. Set up was a nightmare with multi step varifications amd revarifications. The verification emails and texts come very slow so it takes a long time to set up. But once it's set up, it works well. I can set up permissions so the cleaning lady can only access the lock on certain days and certain times. Now I don't have to give the cleaning lady at key for the garage code.

I like my August "locks" I have for my house. They fit my existing 35 year old deadbolt locks, were easy to install natal land setup, and work great with my Apple Home. Best Buy sold them for a good price. I'm extremely happy with my purchase of these remote locks. It's like having a Keyfob for your house. Easy entry and exit and locking.

This August lock was easy to install on my 25 year Dexter deadbolt locks. It makes it easy to unlock without fumbling for my door keys. I have given access to my family through the August app and also Apple HomeKit. My Apple TV 4 is now the hub for all the HomeKit lights and locks too and can be controlled anywhere I have Internet access.

Concept of the lock is great. The integration with Apple HomeKit was easy and works best. The lock offered a proximity auto-Unlock which is where I have difficulty. This feature uses the August app and I would say 10% of the time if unlocks as I approach. 75% of the time I have to wait at my door for 10 seconds for it to unlock. The remaining it does not work at all and I have to manually unlock with the app for fumble for me key. Which is what the product is supposed to eliminate. If they can work out the software app bugs and improve Bluetooth connection time it would be 5 stars.

As if the lock wasn't expensive enough, I had to spend $70 more to make it part of my smart home. My thermostat was about the same price as this lock, and does WAY more than this lock, but WiFi was inherent in the thermostat design. A big drawback for August.
But of all of the smart lock brands, this was the most compatible with the rest of my smart home network. And, August isn't going to nickel and dime me with keypass fees or bluetooth dongles etc., etc...

I bought this lock as a matter of convenience as family are always coming to visit and it’s just easier to give digital keys. That feature works great. The auto-unlock feature has gotten better with app updates. At first, it would take too long for the door to unlock but now it’s much quicker to unlock once within the preset radius. It works with Apple Honekit which is awesome. Be careful of the distance from your WiFi route, however. The lock doesn’t appear to have the greatest WiFi receiver.
All in all, worth the money.

It was extremely easy to install. And originally set up using the app. The August app however takes a long time to sync. I added Apple TV to our home so I could operate it whilst away from home. It synced quickly and easily. I had to wait for a firmware update from August before it would sync with HomeKit. That only took a week or so. I was then able to have it in my favourites on my phone so I could swipe up on iPhone and control the lock.
We had some trouble with it syncing a few times so I just factory reset everything and haven't had any problems since.

My only issue is that my door isn't perfectly aligned, so it cannot lock itself, I have to push/pull on the door for it to work. Auto Unlock (when you leave and come back the smartphone app will sense this and unlock the door as you arrive) is awesome! Sometimes a bit pre-mature though (will do it in the parking lot of my apartment, which leaves my door vulnerable for any time between me arriving and getting out of the car, vs. when I actually approach the door).
August sells tapered deadbolts on their website to help with this problem, and I wish Best Buy sold them as well (or Home Depot or Lowe's) so I wouldn't have to order from two separate places. I haven't felt the need to go out of my way to order one, but it would have been an easy sale if I could have bought it at the same time in the store. Take note Best Buy!

I have a Schlage and a Yale lock installed in my house and they have been flawless. I thought I'd give this August Smart Lock a try because it looks great and it makes opening the dead bolt much harder for smaller hands which is one of the main reasons I bought it oddly enough. The installation was so much easier than the Schlage and Yale locks. Literally two minutes and it was solidly on the door. Paring with your phone with bluetooth was also very easy. The problem is the practical use of it.
One of the other reasons with buying this was that is was suppose to help with practical things like auto unlock which is handy when you've got a baby in your hands or groceries. It has worked twice since I've had it. I'm guessing it "sees" your phone joining the same network it's on and then unlocks the door. It doesn't really work for me. But, just in case I bought the "super expensive for what it does" $70 keypad. The keypad works 70% of the time. Usually I have to try twice before it unlocks the door. So for the most part I always have to take my phone out, wait for it to see the lock with bluetooth, and then unlock. It's quicker if I just used the key. So that's my take and hopefully you don't have the same bad luck.
