I bought this "frame" based on a NYT Wirecutters review. It is an excellent product, well-designed, boxed, and explained to its users. For families, it can be used to share all the photos that have been accumulated in families that track both history and current events. I use it to display my late wife's life and our marriage. It helps!

The Aura Mason Luxe digital photo frame is a mid-high end photo frame from Aura. It combines Aura’s excellent software and sharing experience with a super high resolution display at 9.7”, smooth experience, and simple touch bar operation. The outcome is a solid, easily positioned, versatile digital photo frame. Initial experiences, having never owned an Aura before, but seen others with them, the experience is quite sublime. You open the box and are greeted with nice, but simple packaging. The display is easy to remove and after removing the protective stickers, plugging in, it’s ready to go. Setup was quick and painless, having you download the app. The iOS experience is quite nice, and seamless. My setup experience was flawless, and I was quite pleased with the speed at which it happened. I was able to upload photos and see my kids on it within 5 minutes. One thing you’ll notice about the physical design is that it’s hefty and solid. It avoids a rear stand by having the frame itself be overly thick. This doesn’t scream ‘old tech’ or anything, but rather has an artsy flare you’d expect from a fancy frame maker. There are textures on the frame bezels and sides that add interest and texture. The texture allows you to find the touch bars found on the top and right side (in landscape). The overall presentation is very slick. The included power cord is braided, and blends in well. I placed my frame on a piano, and the cord hides well. The Touch Bar operation allows you to slide a finger left or right to change photos. You can tap as well to see information and other options. I found the Touch Bars great for swapping photos, but the app was easier to use for more advanced things. The app is obviously honed over several generations of frames. It did a great job detecting the frame, and synced up quickly and easily. Creating the account was easy as well, and the cloud storage for the frame is a nice touch. I like that you can add collaborators (like say grandparents, or friends) to the account so they can contribute photos as well (or visa-versa). The screen really is a stand out feature. Not only does it have excellent viewing angles, but the 2048x1536 resolution means that photos look extremely crisp. This is essentially the old 1024x768 resolution doubled, and it looks extraordinarily clear. The frame supports short 30 seconds video clips with sound, which is a nice feature. It can auto play said videos, or require interaction with the frame. You can like photos by tapping the Touch Bar’s and that can provide others feedback when they contribute photos. The app makes it easy to manage multiple frames, and after this experience I may get more. Overall this frame is high quality, and high style. The ability for it to blend into your decor while providing an excellent experience not only for viewing but sharing photos is it’s outstanding feature. While cheaper frames exist, the Aura experience for photo sharing coupled with the high quality frame make this an outstanding product.

This is interesting from the jump because it has felt like digital frames emerged about ten-fifteen years ago as a novel concept but dialed to gain much traction. Now, they’re starting to make a bit of a comeback with less drawbacks of frames from yesteryear thanks to new LED frames like this that are brighter and sharper than ever. The packaging for this product is great, it makes you feel like you have a high quality item from the start which is always a plus in my eyes. Out of the box, the frame itself has screen protector film on it from shipping that you’ll remove when using, and you may notice the frame to be a bit deeper/thicker than expected which is one of few drawbacks here. Not ideal for wall mounting but still great to set on a desk/nightstand. The other drawback is that this is yet another tech item that has an app associated with it which is beyond common at this stage but also eye rolling that every tech item nowadays needs yet another app to download, sign up, and use with it but alas here we are. The app, as many do, has some functionality flaws but is primarily used to upload photos. The nice thing here is that there’s seemingly unlimited cloud storage for free and you can upload tens of thousands of photos and select which you want to use, playback speeds, etc, but I only threw a couple dozen on my frame, couldn’t imagine wanting or needing thousands but that’s up to you. The wifi/Bluetooth setups were simple to say the least and another big pro is that you can have multiple Aura members upload photos. This would be a great gift for the family where everyone can upload pics to the frame and have grandma keep the frame at the house with a constant stream of uploaded pictures from the family who may be too busy or too distant to always see each other. In closing though, the frame shines with its crystal clear display, an auto quality filter to ensure you’re not uploading duplicates/best quality pictures, as well as an auto brightness feature that dims the frame and night and brightens it in the day to ensure it always looks it’s best. I wholeheartedly recommend this product.

As soon as this came we could see this wasn't just your regular everyday digital photo frame. From the unboxing experience to the feel of the frame its just a setup in every way. Setup is very simple and allows you to center your pics to show they display correctly on the frame which is a great option as ive had so many other frames before where parts may get cut off the pic as it didn't center on the person in the image. Uploading pics to your frame is very simple with the App, it is however better using the app on iOS as opposed to Android. Picture quality is also a step up with this frame. The clarity is awesome and it doesn't show any blurry pics. It also allows for short videos to be played if you wanted with audio which is something I've not seen before on a photo frame. Another great thing about this is that it's subscription free, at no cost for your cloud storage which is rare nowadays when using the cloud. Cloud storage is also unlimited. One thing we did have an issue with is the light sensor. We wanted to put our frame in our entertainment center but once we put it in there the screen would go black as it thought it was nighttime which is a great idea but didnt work for us in our usage. luckily we were able to change that. Overall this is the best digital frame you can buy today. It's built so well and looks great. The screen is so good.

This picture frame is pretty cool. It was very easy to set up and very easy to use. The only reason for the four-star and not a five star, is because if I want to put multiple photos on there using an Apple device, I have to either create a whole new album, and add all the photos to that album, or I could leave the photos in the current album, but I have to select them individually. The power cord is not ugly, it's a super sleek white power cord, that is very long. However the cord has a cord holder so you only take out what you need and it stays the length you want it, and it looks great. You can reposition photos that may be too big for the frame, and it's very easy to do. The frame plays videos (If you do want it to), it also has sound (Again only if you want it to). The frame looks very nice and sits perfectly on any shelf. I'm very happy with the frame and the ease of use.

I've owned a few digital picture frames, and most of them suffered from the same drawbacks. It's inconvenient to load pictures onto an SD card, and half the time, it seems to screw up the orientation of pictures. They also usually have janky remotes and poor or non-existent touch controls. There's no dealing with storage devices with this frame; everything is uploaded wirelessly. This frame also senses whether you have it oriented in portrait or landscape mode, and can switch between the two on the fly. It also optimizes your photos to fit whichever direction the frame is in. It will automatically crop and resize so the picture fills as much of the frame as possible, and it also won't overcrop and cut out important parts of the picture. It will play your "live" photos from iOS before settling into the static image, and it will also play videos from your photo library. I have seen some weird stretching of videos' aspect ratios, but the photos always look good. It's also super easy to get others to share their photos in the frame. I sent an email invitation to my wife, and within minutes, she had installed the app and uploaded over a hundred photos to the frame. I can see how this would make a great gift for grandparents, with all the siblings sharing family photos to the frame. One last feature that I really like is using the app for most of the frame controls. There is a touch sensitive bar on two sides of the frame (so it's on top in either orientation), but most of the controls can be set wirelessly through the app. The display itself is very clear and sharp, with plenty of brightness. This makes every other digital frame seem like junk.

We like this item when it works its great but most of the time this frame is defective

Not like the picture frames from the good old days where you had to stick in the USB stick and take it out put it back in and take it out put it back in. Your pictures upload seamlessly from your phone and in my case from Google photos. Simple plug and play Bluetooth /Wi-Fi connection, download the app on your phone and start uploading pictures. I think I'd like one and every room of the house. Once I buy a house I'll put them in more permanent places I just have to remember how many I have and what I name them....lol
