First, I’d like to say that this experience was absolutely freeing. I have been flying drones since 2017-2018. I started out
with the DJI Maverick Pro and eventually stopped once I ventured into other
hobbies. Learning to fly that drone was a bit difficult and not very intuitive.
Enter the DJI with their new Avata drone and I was really amazed I had to do a side-by-side
flying experience comparison. Now I know the Avata is a lot younger, but my
comparison is based on intuitiveness.
You start out by pairing all three devices, Drone, Goggles,
and Remote. The Goggles run you through a couple of prompts that specify how to
connect the devices. At first, I was a bit put off by how tedious the
instructions were but patience is key especially when you’re flying a drone
with a pretty nice price tag. Given the simplicity of the device, flight time
on one battery’s charge I thought it was fair in value.
The first flight made my stomach churn because I’m
used to the controls being joysticks. Take-off was easy, all it took was three
button clicks and I was airborne. The most difficult part was the setup because
once I was up in the air, it was game over. The controls are so easy to learn,
and intuitiveness made that fear go away quickly. You basically use your whole
hand to turn and guide the direction of the drone via a circle in your goggles.
I did crash into some palm tree leaves but the cage surrounding the blades made
sure the flight was uninterrupted and I didn’t even notice it. The only reason
I did was because I heard it overhead. I’m really impressed by how light yet
sturdy the drone is. Flight time is about 25-30 minutes in normal mode and I
got about 20-25 minutes on sport mode. Sport mode is a whole other level of
control. Fly at your own risk because some limitations are lifted in this mode
making it way more agile.
Lastly the applications I see this used in is more of
a sporty type of “car chase” and is limited by the cinematic experience and
control that other drones offer. I do like being able to strafe like on the Maverick
Pro but I’ve yet to figure this out on this drone if even possible. Strafing allows
you to follow certain subjects and its important in my opinion when purchasing
a drone for filming. This is more of a hobbyist drone with the ability to
produce some great action/follow shots. An SD card is necessary in order to
record. You can insert one inside the drone and one inside the goggle. I haven’t
tried installing one in the goggles yet but the reason for that was because I
assumed if you connect the SD card in the goggles, transmission loss is
recorded vs installing in the Avata drone where it might record it straight to
the card from the drone. I can’t confirm this yet, but it seems reasonable to
assume this is the case.
I would still absolutely recommend this drone just for
the experience. There are other drones that are way more expensive, but the
features increase as does the price. This is a great beginner drone in my
opinion.

This fpv is slower than the DJI fpv, about half as fast but it is more for maneuvers and shooting usable video. It’s smaller and has only about 7 minutes filming time per battery but that’s not an issue. The range is better than fpv and the goggles are much better. This is a remote ID DRONE THAT WILL REQUIRE A PHONE TO FLY. IT does have faa certification for, remote id and crowd flight because it has excellent prop shrouds. This is more capable of close in flight around light objects and if it gets under a cover and elevates to hit the cover it will recover after about 15 seconds and lower to a safe run height. I am really happy with the way this operates and don’t mind the requirement for a remote id phone to fly. I would buy again. Get the tech insurance in case you crash or get wet.

It’s a fantastic drone for the right person. I have an air 2s and found this drone to be so similar with the included intuitive remote that it didn’t feel like it was worth the almost $2k for the combo kit plus extra batteries. I think this kit could be amazing with the FPV remote controller (required to unlock this drone’s full potential), but that would require an additional $200 and waiting for it since it’s back ordered.
Also, range is pretty poor if obstructed by trees or a single small hill.
The drone functioned well, the quality of video through the goggles and recorded from the camera were both outstanding. On the plus side, the intuitive remote was really easy to get used to.

Fantastic drone! I’ve had various iterations of Mavics for years so this was my first foray into FPV. This drome makes it SO easy to fly! I was skeptical about the motion controller. Ive used twin stick RCs for years and currently have the DJI pro controller paired with my Mavic 2. But goodness once you get used to it, it is shockingly intuitive. It will never be as precise as two sticks but since I’m not racing or doing commercial drone work doesnt matter. I know its expensive, but of you are thinking at all about FPV this is an INCREDIBLE entry point

This thing is a pure joy to use. Easy enough for a newbie using the motion controller and capable of all the acro you could ask for (with the DJI Controller 2) I waited 10 years to buy a drone and I'm glad I did.

I recently purchased the DJI Avatar drone from Best Buy and I have to say, I'm thoroughly impressed with its performance and capabilities. The drone's 48-megapixel camera captures stunningly clear and detailed photos and videos, and the 6K video resolution is truly a sight to behold.
The drone's obstacle avoidance and automated tracking features make it a breeze to operate, even for beginners, and the DJI Fly app is intuitive and user-friendly. The 34-minute flight time is impressive, allowing for extended periods of use before needing to recharge the battery.
I was also impressed with Best Buy's customer service, as they were able to answer all of my questions and provide me with valuable insights on how to use the drone effectively and safely.
Overall, I would highly recommend the DJI Avatar drone and purchasing it from Best Buy. The product's performance and features are top-notch, and Best Buy's customer service is reliable and helpful.

This is as close to flying as you’ll get! The remote makes it so easy to control and the goggles have such a great image. I have 4 drones from DJI and this is my favorite. The others I enjoy for photography and video, this drone is just so much fun to fly. Word of advice though, make sure you use an sd card in the goggles as well as the drone. I had a crash in corn field and battery fell out. Made it impossible to track. With video in the goggles, I was able to locate my position by playing video over and seeing exactly where I was. Battery life is short but your moving the whole time so 15 minute flights (I feel) are plenty. No regrets purchasing this drone, Avata rocks!

I own the DJI 2S and picked this one up, I love the drone. It is not to replace the 2S but to supplement it. Easy to fly. Will need to buy at least a second or third battery as they only last 10 minutes.

I love this drone so much!! It is my first drone and the goggles and motion controller made it so easy to start flying impressive flights right away without any previous experience. This was a gift for our 10 year wedding anniversary and it has not disappointed. There are so many features and capabilities with the Avata, we have had no bad experiences or problems at all. Love love love this thing! Have already convinced some friends and family members that they need one too lol I like being able to buy it with my Best Buy credit card and get 24 months interest fee payment plan.

Great Drone For Exploring Abandoned Buildings.

Very impressed with the stability of the Avata. With the added surface area of the propellor guards, I was expecting more problems with maintaining low-level flight. I will be using the drone to explore abandoned buildings found in Ghost Towns In Oklahoma. I especially like the turtle roll capabilities and the 30 second flight time cache. The only drawback I noticed was that the batteries tend to drain when they are not plugged into charger. Just remember to check the batteries a few hours before flying to ensure you have enough charge.

Love it! However, it’s a read the operators manual kind of toy. The Avata is hard to find when crashed, so be sure you have goggles recording going on and know how to review the last few seconds of flight. Also know how to activate the drone beeper. I deal with a “lost Avata” by always flying it where I can retrieve it That may sound “chicken” to the aggressive Avata flyers, but I live by the old adage: “ There are old pilots and there are bold pilots, but there are no old bold pilots”.

As a 10 year drone flyer I've owner over 20 different drones from cheap to expensive DJI, I debated on buying the Avata because of it's expensive price and finally did, this is by far the most fun drone I've ever flown, it's a blast turning the drone with the motion of ur wrist, I haven't taken any of my other drones out of their cases since buying the Avata because it's so much more fun

Truly is the easiest drone I've ever flown. I am impressed so far but there are two drawbacks that I'm wrestling with. Range (I tend to lose visibility in the goggles at 1/4 mile) and battery life (rated at 18 mins but more like 10 tops). Get the Fly More kit for sure.

For those complaining of the battery life. For an fpv drone, anything over 6 minutes is excellent. I fly it mostly on sport mode and it gives me at least 15 minutes of flight. I don’t believe these are meant to climb extremely high like a mavic or a phantom and maybe thats how people are loosing battery life. But, overall very happy with this drone, has been very sturdy and flys fast. Perfect for a beginner
