    The Sinch Difference

It’s worth noting first that unlike Aventon's other bikes, this one is "One Size" suited for most people from 5' to 6'3". I'm about 5'10" if you want to use my picture for reference. So unfortunately for those outside those recommended sizes, you won't be able to enjoy the perks this particular model offers. PROS: - It's an ebike that's foldable and portable! - Throttle from full stop - Powerful - Fat tires to handle terrain better - Battery sits inside the frame CONS: - One size - Heavy/Unwieldy - Precarious when folded DESIGN After lifting the folded Sinch out of the box, I marveled at its beauty as I unraveled it piece by piece. It’s just a stunning, sleek looking bike. My biggest selling point on this model was its folding, storage and transportation capabilities. Despite being heavy, I personally didn’t have too much trouble moving or folding the bike. It’s quick to fold/unfold but it certainly can be a challenge. The frame has some good holding points but there is nothing that keeps it folded together so I suggest using a bungee cord when lifting and moving. For some this all may be tough without some help. A great idea someone shared was to buy a tote to put the bike in that eliminates these concerns and makes moving it way easier. These things may seem daunting but the convenience completely outweighs the work to get it ready. I have nowhere to store a bike, nor do I have a place to store a bike rack for my car. The Sinch easily fits into my SUV and garage when folded so it’s completely worth it. It’s heavy yes, but the construction is extremely solid. With the 20x4in fat tires it just looks and feels like a beast. You have a fully functioning, portable ebike that can handle more than the average terrain and the only compromise is weight. There are a few other features I really like. An additional perk of it being able to be folded is the fact that the battery is on the inside of the frame offering better protection for it compared to the other models where the battery is on the outside. There are numbers on the seat-post, seat and handlebars which is convenient in case you have multiple users or need to adjust for folding. COMFORT I felt very comfortable on the bike. The grips have a lot of texture and feel good in the hands, I don’t feel like the pedals slip at all and the seat feels good. It isn’t until the hour mark when I start feeling any discomfort in my rear-end which is pretty respectable. Each person will have different feelings or preferences on these things but they suit me well. All of this can always be upgraded later. I was able to adjust the placement of everything on the bike including the controls to really make the bike my own. I really do feel like the front suspension makes a difference, too. I have rolled over everything thus far (including dirt and gravel) without a second thought or any noticeable impact in my arms. PERFORMANCE After riding it once to get the seat and handlebar placement down I had several concerns so I took it to a bike shop for a look over. I’m glad I did and I recommend anyone to do so when buying direct. Don’t let the small tires fool you, this thing has power. Since the bike is as heavy as it is, it can be slightly difficult to get moving from a stand still on terrain or a slight incline. Aventon now allows this model to use throttle from a standstill, which is just the perfect boost you need to get started. Once you're moving everything is smooth going. There are a lot of turns around my neighborhood so I often found myself constantly having to slow down because I just always felt like I was going so fast. The acceleration takes a second to kick in but once it does you’re up to speed in no time. The throttle is quite soft and took some getting used to but I felt like I had a lot of control using it. The breaks are very responsive and stopping is just as quick so I never felt like stopping from higher speeds was an issue, either. I was very impressed with how it handled hills, too. The steepest hill I encountered so far was about a 20-25% grade and I went up it in PAS 1 like it was nothing. Handling also felt great. While the handlebars aren’t as wide for what I assume is to retain the small profile, I didn’t find it much of an issue turning. Sometimes I felt like I couldn’t take too tight of turns because of it but I just managed my speed so it wasn’t a big deal. Some may want to replace them with something wider depending on your stature. One thing that surprised me is how much I had to change the gears along with the PAS to maintain proper cadence, even with PAS 1. It seems areas with more turns and frequent stop and go you’ll need to constantly adjust. It will just take some getting used to I’m sure. But even with all the pulling of levers and button pushing I was able to still handle the bike well while keeping my eyes on the road. FLAWS As great as it all is, it does have a couple of notable design flaws. First, mounting the M5 display in the center above the post as shown and intended isn't ideal. With the way they manufacture the mount, not only does it prevent you from pivoting it more towards you because of the handlebar lock and wires coming out the back of the screen, it blocks the handlebar lock itself from opening fully. I had no choice but to leave it because I have other accessories added (or plan to) that occupies either side of the handlebars. Your solutions are to move the display to the side taking up valuable space, add a handlebar extension in front or replace with wider handlebars. It seems quite an oversight. Second, when folded and sitting on it's built-in stand it's not entirely secure. It can pretty easily be knocked over towards one side if that side isn't up against a wall. I have more on this issue below. Overall these are not deal-breakers and can be easily solved with alternatives. Another small detail is it would have been really nice if the M5 display had a memory feature for the odometer. Trip A & B resets every time the display turns off. Because of this, you can't keep track of how much you rode in a given ride, let alone a day unless you continuously ride long enough before it turns off automatically. I wish you could manually reset it on your time but maybe a firmware update later will allow you to utilize the Trips. CONCLUSION The Aventon Sinch really does give you everything an ebike can while also being portable with reasonably little sacrifice. Not only that, but it looks amazing and doesn’t compromise style despite being a foldable bike. You wouldn’t even know it can fold just by looking at it. If the minor flaws I mentioned are an issue to you than you could rate this bike slightly lower. But because they become marginal with the solutions available, it deserves full marks. Aside from everything Aventon stands behind it’s products and I can attest to that. They absolutely respect their warranty in case of any problems. As a bonus the bike came with an extra derailleur hanger and a hex multi-tool which is both helpful and nice of them. The tool is not amazing but it gets the job done and great to keep with you for emergencies. After you buy I suggest joining a few Aventon groups on social media. The community is great and very helpful. If you have a question or looking for accessory recommendations, do a search and you will most likely find the answer you are looking for. I learned so much before my Sinch even arrived. WARNINGS/DISCLAIMERS/TIPS I've read to be cautious of the stand when folded. People have mentioned their Sinch accidentally tipped over on the stand crushing the M5 display. Some move the location of the screen to off center on the handlebars so it folds if it falls as opposed to crushing. Unfortunately, the display is non-removable from its mount which would have been an easy fix. You can find 3D printed cases for the M5 online. After recommendations I purchased a case as well as a tote for transportation and I would also suggest you do as well. Something else to consider before purchasing is making sure it is permitted where you want to ride. I was surprised to find I couldn't ride the Sinch in many places around me I thought I could. Some parks with trails simply don't allow ebikes, others only allow class 1 whereas the Sinch is a class 2. People have made suggestions around this but do such at your own risk. Make sure to check all your local park and trail regulations.

The Aventon Sinch is a foldable ebike that is advertised as being able to go 40 miles on a charge and up to 20 mph. The bike has seven gears, dual disc brakes. When you receive the bike, it is assembled completely. You’ll need to remove some padding and charge the battery but otherwise it’s ready to go. I saw another reviewer mention that didn’t receive the screws for the display and I had the experience. One warning I will give is that the bike is heavy. Aventon’s website advertises the bike at 68 pounds. It may be too heavy for some people to transport so just keep that in mind. The Sinch is incredibly well built and very solid. Nothing about this bike feels cheap. The Sinch is visually amazing. The photos on the website do not compare to what the bike actually looks like. It looks like a very top end bike and feels like it as well. I definitely had people looking during my few rides. I’m 5’8” and the bike adjusted to a perfect height for my riding. The display that showcases speed, battery life, and distance is large and easy to see during the day, while not being too bright at night. You can also showcase lifetime miles and trip miles which I think is a nice feature. While riding, there’s a throttle on the left handle so you can ride without peddling. I was able to hit 19.8 mph with throttle only so it goes as fast as advertised. There’s 5 different levels of peddle assist. I have a few photos showing speeds at different peddle assist levels. Those speeds were at what I consider to be a normal peddling speed. There’s a lot of pick up at peddle assist level one and it gets greater the more you go. You can also forego the assist and ride on your own. Another really nice feature of the Sinch are the 4 inch fat tires. The ride feels so smooth and stable. I took the bike on an off-road dirt path and never once felt wobbly. The tires ate up that dirt path. The front shock also are great for absorbing bumping terrain. If you’re reading this review you’re most likely interested in the folding aspect of the bike. I’ve included a few photos of the bike folded. It’s doesn’t get too small while folded but it should be able to fit in most trunks to take to trails or mountains if you’re looking to do that. The battery is removable when folded. That’s a great feature for me. Living in Arizona my garage gets really hot so I can keep the battery inside to prolong its life. I can’t really do justice for how great this bike is. It looks absolutely amazing, assembly is super easy, it rides smooth, the peddle assist is powerful, the tires provide great stability and the folding aspect allows for ultimate transportation. If you’re looking for a easy to transport ebike, do yourself a favor and check out Aventon Sinch.

Product arrived well packaged, was quite easy to unpackage and setup. Took less than 30 minutes to have it fully functional (apart from charging) and ready for use. I charged it for a little over 4 hours before the battery indicated full. Impressions on first use: 1. Operated perfectly. Bike did not require any additional adjustments. 2. Gears shifted seamlessly and smoothly. Hand controls are like other bikes so no learning curve. 3. Brakes functioned as expected and stoped the bike nicely from the 20-mph top speed. 4. Electric motor provides adequate power and operates by extremely easy controls. Select the level of assistance desired and away you go! 5. Leisure pedaling maintains a speed of approximately 10-mph. 6. Throttle response smooth and predictable. 7. Battery strength appears to provide rated distances. After 5 miles of the initial ride charge indicated barely moved. More distance testing will be a pleasure. 8. Unit folds nicely, would probably fit in most trunks. It fits great inside our RV. If there is a downside it would be the weight. Heavy at 68 pounds it’s not the easiest to lug around. It takes up less space than my standard size Ebike. 9. If you’ve never ridden an e-bike with 20” x 4.0” fat tires, it’s as close to a two-wheel version of a go-kart as you can get, and I mean loads of fun I contacted support via a chat-line. Due to Covid manning, telephone landlines are not available right now but as Covid restrictions are lifted they expect them to reopen. They responded quickly to my text chat request. He was quick to point out that if he couldn’t resolve my issue that another support person would call on the landline. I didn’t require any servicing, so we chatted in general. Accessories are available for this bike online. I’m 6 foot and weigh 190 lbs. Bike adjust and rides smoothly with plenty of power. It would adjust to accommodate a taller person. My wife is 5 foot 2 and after adjusting to her size I would suggest that is about as short and still be comfortable on stopping without leaning over to reach the ground. Overall, you get a lot of bang for your buck here. There are certainly cheaper folding, fat-tire bikes out there but compared to the ones I’ve seen, not with this level of quality. If you’re in the market for an E-bike I would highly recommend this bike but at the very least, you should include this in your short list of selections. Superior product with excellent quality and workmanship!

Major quality control issues. We went through two of these bikes in two weeks. The first one suddenly died 5 miles from home and the company wanted to try replacing the computer which is burried in the frame. Also, the display had many scratches on it. The 2nd bike had a safety defect with the main latch that locks the frame into place when unfolded. The latch tension is adjustable via an adjustment screw. The problem with this latch is that we can tighten it but during the ride, the adjustment screw comes loose and causes the latch to loose tension. This is a major safetly issue because if the latch comes apart during riding then the bike will fold in half and cause an accident and injuries. The company wanted the bike taken to an authorized repair center but we dont have any in my area. The 2nd bike also had a bent rear wheel and the entire bike would shake when the wheel got up to speed. Bad battery that would not charge. Missing screws from the gear change housing causing the back cover to fall off and a broken piece of plastic near the power connectors. Aventon has major quality control issues at their factory.

I waited anxiously for my Aventon Sinch eBike to arrive. While waiting I read everything I could from the blogs on their web site. After talking to another eBike rider he told me to get a good bar lock and if you're going to ride around people, get a simple bike bell. When the bike arrived it was well packed in box (see image) that would easily fit in the back of my SUV. This was something I'd wondered about. The bike comes folded in a box weighting 85 lbs. The eBike is nearly completely assembled. The electronic display needs to be connected (screwed into place, and 2 wires connected). The peddles need to be unfolded. And the bike needs to be un-folded (be careful with the internal wiring, mine needed to be re-aligned to allow proper closure). The top center bar contains the battery. It requires one of the two provided keys to unlock/release it. The battery can either be charged outside of the bikes battery holder or while it is inside the frame. This is a great arrangement, as I live in AZ, and was concerned with keeping/charging the battery in my garage when the summer temps will be reaching +120 degrees (but I won't likely see freezing temps). The supplied battery charger has about 6' of cord to the charging brick, and 6' of cord to the bike/battery. Aventon recommends leaving the charger connected for 10-12 hrs. during the initial 3 charges. I'm about 6' tall and it was easy to adjust the seat up to the proper/comfortable height. Same with the handle bars, also easy to adjust for a comfortable ride/reach. With helmet on, my first impression... Wow, I live on a hill, going down in both directions from my driveway. On the right hand is the gear switch (gear 1-7) with 2 levers, the back increases the gearing, the front decreases it. The bike come in 2 versions Throttle on Demand (TOD) and Throttle after Pedal (TAP), I found I had a TAP, and until I pedaled the throttle is inactive, it's also inactive until the pedal assist level is moved from 0 to 1-5. So, I'm coasting down my hill at about 5mph, not pedaling, I set the pedal assist to 1 and start pedaling, just after I do the motor kicks in, gently assisting, at assist level 2, I'm immediately comfortable, moving at about 15mph (downhill). If I stop pedaling the bike starts to slow as the motor stops assisting, I pedal again, and it kicks back in. On the left handle bar is the throttle control, with your left thumb if you depress the throttle, the motor kicks back in, even if you’re not pedaling. By the end of the street, I think I've got it figured out (pretty much). I'm now on flat pavement. I get to a low gear and take off, upshifting, and then adding pedal assist 1-2-3, and I'm up to 20mph, crusing toward my neighborhood park. I take a wide corner at about 15mph, thinking these 4" nubby tires make some noise, but give a nice smooth ride. I head into the park’s hard dirt trails. It's a little over a mile around I want to get some exercise, so I won't use the throttle control, I back off the pedal assist, back to 1, and pedal around the park in 4th gear, doing much of the work, but the bike is helping. I think REALLY cool, the air breezing through my helmet (and what hair I have left) moving ~15mph, I keep pedaling, but not really exerting myself too much. I finished the loop in just under 4m, walking time for me is about 9m (exhausted). I waited at the end of this ride for a few minutes at a picnic bench. A friend asked what was I riding. I told him I was on my first ride on my Aventon Sinch. And that I was impressed, but still learning. I told him about the foldable Sinch and how I could get it in my SUV. He said, cool idea as he typically vacationed on a beach in SD, and that the 4" tires would work great on the sand. I showed him how easy it was to adjust the seat and handle bars. He said it would be great for other family members, which range from 5"4 to just over 6'2". I left for home. So on my first ride, I learned a lot. I have to also say the saddle seemed a bit small to be comfortable for my butt, next purchase... With next day delivery, I had a bigger softer I switched seats. My new seat is almost 4" wider, with big springs and memory foam. The Sinch seat would have been fine for me before I turned 50, but now in my early 60's and a softer support seemed more to my liking. After my first ride I also noticed some chain noise. The bike came with a small grease packet, so I applied grease all around the chain, it now moves more silently and the derailer handles gear changes more fluently. I'd suggest applying grease to the chain before your first ride, it will make your ride more silent and smoother. Ok, I have a hill at the end of my street that has about a 110' rise over a 1/10 mile, it’s about a 30% incline (see picture). I really wondered how fast my Sinch could get me up the hill (with full assist). From a standing start in low gear and full assist I quickly got to 20 mph, but 2/3's up the hill the speed dropped, best I could maintain was 10.9 mph, still moving with some of my peddling added, but nowhere need full speed. I get to top (for another picture) pleased I could make it, but this is a real steep hill, I could not bike it on my old bike (when I was younger), or with the Sinch without assist, and it's even a tough walk. But w/Sinch's power assist we succeeded. This was an important success to me, as if I'm going to use my Sinch to go shopping, it had to handle this hill. Coming down was a test of the brakes, 1/3rd the way down I was at 35mph, time to use the breaks, here I appreciated the front and rear disk brakes with real, controlled, stopping power - VERY happy!. No problems, I accelerate up the next hill to my house and right back to 20mph, cruising into my drive way, I see my wife taking a video of my first "hill" ride. She said I looked happy; I have to admit I was. It's not hard to figure out how to use this eBike, but it definitely varies based on the terrain, and how you want to use the bike. The 5 different assistance levels determine how much work you will do peddling versus the bike doing more of the work (assist levels 3-5). I had one other initial impression, I needed a driver’s side (left hand) mirror, I was so accustomed to driving a car, and looking to the left to see what's behind me, I missed that, a lot. So that was my next purchase, I wanted a mirror so I could see behind me (without turning my head and taking my eyes off the road). Now added. I now feel fully equipped (see images). Enough praise for the bike, here are some things I think they could do better. The key should be able to "Lock" the bike, so you can't turn the handle bar when locked, or other features disabled. This theft deterrent is clearly a missing feature. The ability to set TOD or TAP should be a programmable choice. I also think it should come with the color display, it's so much better, or offer it as a shippable option. The Sinch is also a bit heavy for one person to easily get it in/out of a SUV, folding/unfolding could be easier, especially by better supporting the center stem (it has a small drop down support but it offers minimal support of the heavy bike while folding), this can certainly be improved so it's easy to do with one person. The eBike is also very tippy when folded, I'd like to find a way to make it more movable without tipping. And the handle bar width is kind of narrow, making it hard to get all your "devices' installed across the bars width. But for transport the narrow handle certainly helps. Part of the problem is that the handle bar changing sizes along it's length, if it were all on width more of the surface area would be usable. Maybe if they included a phone mount, combined with the color display, that could pop-off when folded, they would have an ideal solution. The Aventon app and color display makes for a "better ride" (more informed), the two work better together. I also wish I could lock the throttle in place, so I didn't need to keep my thumb on it. I'd also like an option to order it with fenders. You can order fenders, but they've been backordered since I got my bike, and I'll have to install them, I know I won't ride my Sinch after rain without fenders (but I live in AZ, I might not see any rain for 3+ months). My favorite features are: 4” soft fat tires, that make for smooth ride. Front fork shock absorbers, makes the ride much smother, not only when riding, but when stopping. Smooth acceleration and slow down when motor starts/stops. Superb front and rear brakes Easy to adjust seat/handlebars Powerful motor, nice acceleration. 40-mile range, removable, rechargeable battery (in or out of bike). Beautiful styling/paint on the bike. Well, I'm certainly still learning, but with the help of the Aventon bike groups, I learned a lot before the bike even arrived. The groups are pretty active, I plan to stay connected to them. And while I'm not likely to take my bike on multi-day +100mi ride, like some in the group have, they are the real experts, I've learned a lot from them. The Aventon app can take you right to the groups though the "Discover" button. I am certainly looking forward to being able to pack it up and take it on vacations, but none planned till April. The Sinch’s quality is outstanding. It’s a tremendous eBike once you get it equipped with the options you want, based on how you plan to use it. Enjoy the ride.

Did lots of youtube homework deciding which ebike to buy. The Sinch was just the all around best deal. Very happy with my purchase. I use it to ride to work and for leisure. It is a heavy bike and I also paid an extra $100 for the color display which is pretty cool, can charge your phone and has some other features. However, it is difficult to see (the display) in the sunlight.....so I'd just keep the one it came with. Overall, its a great buy.....wife, kids all get a kick out of using the bike. Goes up to 20-22mph unless you remove the limiter.

Decided to purchase this bike to save in gas, parking, and avoid traffic. I like that it’s foldable, easy to put in my vehicle. Pros: • peddle assist - more of a safety precaution. If you stop peddling the motor stops. Safer incase of emergencies where you slow down instead of plowing into something. •4 inch tires. Stable and smooth riding on the road or off-roading. •climbs hills easily (peddle assist but I’ve ridden up steep hills) •Adjustable seat and handle for myself and my wife who is much shorter than me. •You can override the max 20mph in the owners manual and bump it up to 25mph. Cons: •heavy. Weighing in at 61lbs. •Does not come with lights. Ala carte. •Fenders and bike rack sold separately. •cannot leave unattended in bike rack. Seat is removable. Overall I’m happy with the bike. It’s my daily commute and when I go home I’m going uphill all the way. The bike handles hills no problem.

Great value given the price point. Easy assembly and set-up. Rides well and easy to fold up and store away, despite the weight.

After first ride its safe to say that if you wear a size 12 in mens and you stand to pedal, the back of your shoe will grab/hit the kickstand. Kickstand doesnt appear to be movable without drilling new holes into frame. Bike was fun and easy to put together. Was missing screws in lcd screen, where according to the manual they said they'd be pre-installed. Ill zip tie that. Id recommend seat cushion too if you have sensitive hutt like me. My butt is on fire after a 6 mile ride.

Excellent bike for pleasure riding. You can fit it in the trunk of a medium-sized car since it’s foldable. Easy to assemble. Bold and sleek
