Install & registration was a little bit confusing trying to go the route of creating an AVG account and putting in code for subscription and then trying to find the link to download. It's easier to just download the trial version and then once installed navigate to My AVG/My Subscription option and select "Enter a valid activation code"
Once installed though, the program is simple to use, fast and works great. On the first pass it was able to free 8.5 GB of disk space. And my computer is only about a month old. It helps you identify easily what programs run in the background when your computer starts and then choose to put them to "sleep". I think that's just a fancy way to say they wont automatically start when you turn on the computer.
It also scans the Windows registry and cleans up broken references, scans hard drives for errors, and clears browser data.
Granted, you can perform all of those actions without TuneUp but it's really handy to have them all located together in one spot.

I currently use AVG Internet Security which included AVG TuneUp, so I wasn't able to install this without uninstalling and not using the internet security suite, so I installed this on another laptop that I use.
Installation and setup was pretty cut and dry and once installed, you can setup your options/settings for use. I pretty much let this run in automatic mode and it does a good job of maintenance for my windows laptop. I haven't installed it on my Samsung laptop yet, but I appreciate the fact that it can be installed on mobile devices.
All in all, this is pretty good software that helps rid my device of cookies, broken registry items, etc, etc. I definitely recommend this.

The installation process is a little tricky only because it asks you to input the keycode to start the download and installation. Once it is installed it works great but if you don't catch it you need to go back in and activate the product using the keycode again. I have not seen any perfornance issues due to having it installed and it gives you the option to see what other programs that you may not be aware of are running on your system. I don't like how it trys to sell you other AVG products. The interface is intuitive. Another issue is I don't like how it wants to delete your Windows install files. They may be needed to resolve an issue later and this is not a good idea unless you are out of space.

Note - I received this product free to review.
Before running any program like this you should back up your data.
I tested this on a PC desktop and an Android (Galaxy Note 8). Installation was easy but beware ... you will want to go into Settings / General and uncheck the boxes or it will collect a lot of data and share with 3rd parties. Not good AVG.
After installation on the PC, I rebooted and then ran the program. It removed a lot of items and then repaired Broken Shortcuts and Broken Registry items. My PC boots with several programs but after running this the boot time was faster by 90 seconds. The speed was also much faster and I have a very good computer. I especially noticed this on Firefox, which had been dragging for about a month. Speedy as Chrome now.
This really cleans the junk and my game stats disappeared. Not a big deal for me but it could be for some.
AVG pushes all of their other products but you can turn that off.
I really like it for my PC and recommend it.
But not so much for my phone. It doesn't seem to clean much more than the cleaning setting in the phone. I had McAfee on my phone before and it really ate up my battery life. AVG isn't doing that but not sure how much it is helping.
I would give it a 3 1/2 to 4. But I am rounding up because I run some specialized software and it didn't mess it up. Previous programs have caused me a huge headache and I appreciate that this worked very well.

I've used free computer cleaning and optimizing software in the past with little success. Yes, they are able to clean junk files, but I found that some of those "hidden" cache files help make your computer run more efficiently. So while you might save some space on your hard drive, often times this comes at a sacrifice in performance (contrary to what you would expect).
I thought AVG Tuneup would help me (more easily) get rid of unnecessary programs that I've acquired on my work desktop over the years. For some reason I had more faith in it because it wasn't a free program. I also installed it on my Google Pixel 4 XL, but because of my experiences, I won't be installing it on my personal laptop and desktop.
The set up is dead simple, you simply create an AVG account and you download the software from the web. Or on your phone, you simply download the app.
First, my experience on my desktop. I am using a HP gaming PC with Ryzen processor and AMD graphics. It's not a screamer, but it's definitely a proficient machine. Prior to installing and running the AVG Tuneup software, I really didn't have any complaints with my PC. My only complaint was the HDD, which was getting filled up. I ran the software and "deleted" the hidden cache files, fixed broken registries (which required a reboot), hibernated programs that purportedly slowed the time it takes to start my machine (oh the irony with that one) but since then, everything has been a mess. My computer went from starting up within seconds, to now literally taking 30 seconds to log in, when I open Outlook 365 it crashes, sometimes turning my entire screen black. After multiple attempts (sometimes restarting my machine several times) everything turns on and starts working. And it seems that once everything is loaded (which is a several minute process) everything seems to work as normal. The only thing I could pin it on was the AVG Tuneup software. I, unfortunately, had to delete it from my computer and seek assistance from our IT consultant to get my computer back “to normal.”
My take away from the PC experience is that you have to have some knowledge of what it is you’re deleting. You can’t simply take the program’s word for it. You might be deleting critical data (or at least data that helps improve/speed up performance). I’m no IT professional, but that’s my guess best as to what happened. I think I started “hibernating” programs that AVG deemed as slowing down my machine that are somehow pertinent and required for efficient running of my computer.
The Android experience, however, has been much better. I downloaded the app from Google Play and typed in my AVG account. The app walks you through a similar process as the PC, identifying potential memory issues (which is a bigger deal to me since my Pixel 4 XL only has 64 GBs) and helping improve my RAM (I had no idea that certain apps, like the ones I barely use, took up so much memory). While maybe its mental, I did feel a minor boost in speed and battery life in my phone. I’m not saying it’s enough to say you have to have this program, but it was beneficial.
My only concern is, is it worth it? Google bakes in battery and memory optimization software that achieved the same goals. Although I will say AVG does a good job of clearing out cache data that tends to grow over time within apps. But other than that, I don’t feel like it’s worth it. If I didn’t have any problems with my PC and it actually worked (disclaimer: my issues very well could be user error, my point is, it’s not clear as to how best to use the software for those without intimate knowledge of how an actual PC actually works), then I would use this app on my phone. But I don’t think I would purchase AVG tuneup just to get it on my phone.
The price is nice if you want to cover multiple devices and you know how to use tune-up or software optimization software, but for the uneducated like myself, I can’t recommend this program.

To help you make your computer run as smooth as possible by removing junk and duplicate files.
I am using it on a Mac with no problems. Pretty simple and straightforward program, easy installation.
Every time I buy a new computer I always make sure to download one of these programs, I always have to download a few before I find the right one for me. AVG has exactly what I’m looking for, simple yet gets the job done.

I have an older Macbook Air which its main purpose is as a dock for my photos. I am a mother and try to stay on top of the thousands of photos my family and I take, but it gets out of hand quickly. I always wondered why the Mac iOS doesn't have a way to get rid of duplicate photos. With all of the possibilities of albums that can be set up, I suspected that I had many duplicate photos, but it is so hard to figure this out. So I just let it be, because I would rather have too many of the same photo I want forever, than to delete by accident.
Enter this cleanup tool. After downloading it, I was a bit hesitant to run the duplicate finder, but I did it anyway. There's always the cloud backup. The software did its thing, and found thousands of duplicate photos and videos. I have no way of knowing what it took out of my Photo app, but all of the discarded photos and videos are still in my trash. Until I can really go through my Photo app some more, I'm not going to throw out the trash.

I liked the description of this product, particularly it getting rid of “junk” and speeding up processing time. Also, it is licensed for 5 devices; thus, I decided to give it a shot.
Download and installation of the software went quickly and easily…. until I clicked on the final step to start the software. My screen went black, and my laptop was unresponsive. After a manual shutdown and reboot, I was able to get the software running. After a scan of my system, it advised me of several issues the needed fixing. I let it do so, and my computer was obviously running much faster. This really pleased me, and I was looking forward to installing on my other devices over the next few days. Unfortunately, my positive excitement was not to last.
When I next logged on, the TuneUp software automatically ran, as it is scheduled to do. Next, I received an onscreen message that7 it had found more issues that needed to be dealt with. So, I clicked to let it do its thing. After it did, I did a restart as requested by the program. After the reset, to my upset, the logon and home screens were the Microsoft defaults, MS Edge rather than Explorer was the default browser, and ALL program icons saved on my screen were gone. Next, to my horror, ALL my files were gone. I essentially had a laptop reset to when it first came out of its box. Thankfully, this was not my primary laptop and I back up my files monthly, so I should be able to restore most of the files after I clean up the results of the disaster. Because of this experience, I certainly won’t be installing TuneUp on my other laptops and tablets! On the bright side, my laptop did run faster for at least a very short time.

I have been a fan of AVG's internet security (virus protection) software for many years. And this computer optimization suite rises to the same level of excellence.
This is an extensive but intuitive interface that allows you to clean and maintain and optimize your windows/mac/android system - and having seen the options in all three systems, the windows implementation is, by far, the most impressive (not a surprise since windows is such an ever-expanding mess). It helps you tune every detail of your system - removing bloatware from a new computer, defragmenting your disks, removing clutter, adjusting registry settings, allocating resources, etc.
The interface is well designed and user-friendly. And the options, though extensive, have conservative defaults that don't risk making changes that you might regret later (but gives more informed users the more aggressive options they might desire).
This is solid software from a reliable company.
Highly recomended.

Sweet , simple and convenient software. Saves you time with auto updates. I installed on 2 gaming desktop,s which I custom built. The first older desktop with high end motherboard and graphics card but and older disc hard drive I got overall a 25% start up and performance increase very satisfied. On my second custom built gaming desktop which I have solid state drives only a small but noticeable start up increase but very satisfied because this desktop is already bulit for max speed. The software has very good auto update and maintenance capabilities set it and forget it automatic. I think it does what is says very well at an affordable price. I highly recommend.

so I am not a computer programmer. I enjoy having a pc to look up things, play games etc. I am glad to have this program and it seems to work great along with AVG protection.
my only gripe, but its my opinion. they should include this already in there software. you are paying a yearly subscription already, and have to add more. i am sure that is just my opinion but like i said, you have to pay for a subscription each year to have it. so would be nice to just have it all.
outside of that though. it works great like i said.

Super easy to set up. I’ve used AVG in the past with my desktops and it works wonders. I currently own a Lenovo Yoga laptop. For sometime I was having some problems with the computer been slow and sort of glitchy. Since Ive installed this program it immediately detect the issues and helps me fix them. It really does a clean through out your computer finding files you don’t need. I definitely recommend this product to get your computer up and running smoothly. I haven’t had any issues using this product.

The AVG Tuneup was a breeze to install and to run. It did wonders for my photos saving me gigs of mass storage space, and identifying photos that should have been trashed years ago. I knew I had some duplicate files, but never realized that I had many duplicate files. Again, the Tuneup software freed up hard drive space previously wasted. The Tuneup is fast and efficient, and I highly recommend it for all, but particularly computer owners tight on hard drive space.

AVG has been a long lasting and reliable brand whose products do what they say without any complications. I've used AVG Free for anti-virus for over 10 years and finally used their paid version. Their TuneUp program is amazing at cleaning up computers that have a lot of junk on it.
If you know someone that doesn't really maintain their computer well or even know what CCleaner is for example, this might be a good little gift to get for them.

This application makes tuning up your PC or Mac an easy process. Over time, I've found that almost any computer you use can get slowed down by applications piling up and running in the background.
This application can show you the applications that are utilizing resources and helps you to stop them from doing so, enabling your computer to run much more efficiently.

Helps troubleshoot programs running in the background and allows you to choose to stop them or let them run. Also prevents sites from hijacking your computer and causing havoc. When it finds an issue the popups make really good sense of what AVG has discovered and allows you to quarantine and fix the issues quickly
