Solid Internet Security for 5 Multi-devices

AVG anti-virus programs and internet security have built a trusted name as it has evolved with internet technology over the past few decades. The newest AVG Anti-virus and internet protection, the AVG Ultimate, is just that -- a solid internet security package with several extras. The program is sold as a multi-device anti-virus, VPN and tune-up combo. It is designed to work on PCs and tablets using Windows OS, Mac computers and on Android smartphones and tablets. The complete software program covers many aspects of online protection and security that is essential to really safeguarding one’s online identity. With its multi-device design and 5 seats, it is a very good bargain for the entire family. After selecting which device, you wish to install the program on and installing the software, the program will simply ask for your installation code and have you enter your personal information to establish an account. Just follow the prompts, it’s that easy. Be sure that you have removed all traces of any previous anti-virus software that may have come on your computer as any trace will most likely conflict and slow down the installation of this product. You can install the AVG Ultimate on up to 5 devices. Once installed the software program will protect your computer or windows/android handheld devices from harmful viruses and spyware. It will scan attachments to your emails and warn you if attachments are not safe. It will also scan Wi-Fi hotspots and warn of dangers there too. One of the best features that builds on the AVG solid foundation is the feature of automatic updates. As new threats evolve the automatic updates will ensure that your online presence remains protected from new virus threats. As mentioned already, the software is designed to provide security for multiple devices. I elected to install the software on a PC and on Android cell phones. On the computer, installation was easy and even the PC tune-up, one of the extras of the program, worked very well. The program is designed to protect from malware, hackers and webcam hacks. It allows one to secure all passwords and offers an immediate notification if any are found online. The automatic updates worked very well. I feel like this program provides solid internet security for safe online interactions, and its versatility in being able to meet the needs of several devices is a very big plus. Besides the AVG Tune-up for the PC, there is also an AVG Cleaner Pro for Android devices that does essentially the same by removing hidden junk, cleaning up photos, freeing up space and extending the battery life. The program also features security and performance for the Mac which I did not install, and this evaluation does not cover. Inclusive in this AVG Ultimate online protection software is AVG Secure VPN which has become increasing important for browsing the internet, and especially, when connecting to an open Wi-Fi. The VPN encrypts the internet connection allowing your online activity to be completely private. This secure VPN works on PCs, Macs, Androids, and IOS devices. Hands down this is a smart, very affordable, internet security that could potentially save you hours of anguish. If you have multiple types of devices that fall into these categories, you should consider this for your family.

Installed this on a computer we've had for 7-8 years (machine was upgraded from Windows 8 to 10) and was thrilled with how well it worked. The installation was quick and easy and it didn't require that I uninstall previous software. I was amazed how it analyzed and cleaned up the performance of the machine and made it run smoothly again. Having multiple licenses was great because I also installed it on a new laptop that we had just gotten. The product seems to run smoothly without interfering and you can easily click on the program to view what it's doing and has done. Having the option to scan emails/attachments, and location services provides an extra level of security. This product works great and I highly recommend it!

Complete Protection for All Your Platforms

The AVG Ultimate Security Software package offers complete protection for all your computer platforms. I loaded this on both my Mac and PC machines. The only negative is I couldn't load it on my iOS devices. The download of the software is quick. All you have to do is log onto their site and select the platform and software you have. For Windows machines it will simply download the installation software you need and it begins. For Mac units, you have to go to a separate screen and select each of the security softwares you want, but it is only a minor extra step. From there, the software downloads and installs. On both units, there is a bit of set up involved once installed. The software will scan you system for potential threats and ask you how you want to allow them or not. For example, the Adobe Flash was flagged on my system but I chose to allow it. The software then offers complete protection from threats. The protections include a file shield for anything new being added to your system, a web shield to protect any downloads, scans emails for unsafe attachments, protection for online payments, and online privacy protection. I think my favorite feature is the Secure VPN that comes with the software. This prevents snoopers from seeing your location when you are online and prevents them from gather data on your searches. It is just extra peace of mind that comes with the software. This package is good for 5 units and is good for a year subscription. One note though is the year starts when the first unit is activated. So if you wait a week to load it on the second system, you will only get 51 weeks on system 2. This is a great software. Download and installation are quick and easy. From download to opertional may have taken at most 10 minutes on each machine. The interfaces are also very intuitive and easy to use. If you want to check your system or change a configuration, it is very easy to do. I would definitely recommend this software to others.

So if you don't know of AVG as an Anti-virus program, let me fill you in. For the longest time AVG was the absolute BEST... FREE.... anti-virus that you could obtain. It also was pretty much the only anti-virus that was worth anything, on the MAC platform. So if you want to try out AVG, go ahead... they readily give you the anti-virus piece for free. And once you see that, you will then really want to explore this Ultimate version. First once you upgrade to the paid, ultimate version... you get access to the other security products. Let's talk about the interface: Large, no tiny print, and very straight forward to understand. Simple, direct, and clear. Very little chance to mis-understand what it means, or what pressing a button will do. now, I have not purposely tried to install a virus or Mal-ware on my computer while running this to see if it worked... I trust that it does because I still don't have one on there (verified by other programs that I trust). The TUNE-UP add on is a great little tool, to help get rid of some of the bloat that ALL our computers get over time. Uninstall procedures of apps, don't always clean everything up. A small little utility you were trying, and foot... bogs down the system. Tune-Up will help you there. My FAVORITE addition with Ultimate, is the VPN tool. I use this via my iPhone, in order to securely connect back to my region of choice. So if I am traveling for work, but want to appear to another application or device as being in my home area of Chicago, I can do that. If I am on a public wifi, and want to obscure my connection in case someone is sniffing the connection, I can use this for secure banking or even simply email. This Ultimate subscription, allows you to install it on 5 different computers and devices... so for most families this works great.

    An upgrade from free offerings

I've used multiple different 'free' antivirus packages over the years on my Windows machines. As someone with a technical background, I understand why they're riddled with advertising to get you to by more of the 'fringe' protection offerings nowadays. Some of this is still persistent even in this paid product, which is what made me drop this from 5 stars. One issue that has plagued many of these programs in the past (see: McAfee) is crippling the computer by taking up resources. I got to say, AVG hasn't caused any issues in regard to gaming performance, and in fact has a nice little "we're not going to bother you while you're playing 'X'" option that pops up after running a new game. That's way better than having to change it to 'gaming mode' manually. I have installed this on 3 machines. In each case, I fortunately did NOT come across any virus related issues with the scan so I can't speak directly to that. The Tune Up certainly seemed to have helped two of my machines - one being my main gaming rig and my child's laptop. They both seem to be running more like a clean Windows install would after that completed. The AVG Password Protection on day 2 picked up some issues that I immediately addressed. I honestly have no idea how it could know what it found, seemingly a combination of saved passwords in browsers (which I thought would be encrypted?) and maybe straight up technical magic - it was a little frightening but I was glad to have it. Also, when I logged into Gmail it offered to add it's verification to my e-mail signatures - another nice feature. When my subscription is up, I think I will pay for another year. This kind of opened my eyes to what I've been missing with the free offerings.

This security suite was pretty easy to install. I had another security product installed but the subscription had expired and I hadn’t renewed it. So I uninstalled the other product first and for some reason could not remove it all. This did not seem to be a problem for the AVG Suite. It installed just fine. When you open the suite, it shows you a status of the following. Your computer, web & email, hacker attacks, privacy and payments. It shows you your last scan and when the virus definitions were last updated. It updates on its own. I really like the fact that it runs in the background. I don’t get many pop-ups from it. Other products have been very annoying, this one isn’t. it does not seem to slow down my computer. I’ve had other products that did seem to slow it down. There is a tune-up feature and it seemed to work very well. It found many things that needed to be cleaned up as well. It has Anti-Virus & anti-ransomware, shopping & banking protection, firewall & webcam security, all in one cleanup and tuneup, VPN for private browsing and auto software updater. I would highly recommend this security product.

Are you looking to protect yourself when you venture online? Well AVG has the software that fits your needs! The AVG Ultimate was simple enough to install on my devices. I was able to take them and test almost immediately. I was alerted to potential threats and felt like it was keeping me secure! AVG states: Safeguard your online identity with AVG Ultimate security software. It protects your computer from harmful viruses and spyware, and it offers automatic updates, so you'll always be protected from the newest threats. AVG Ultimate security software includes email shield technology and web protection that scans attachments and nearby Wi-Fi hotspots for safety. Speaking to its offerings, it did auto update and was alerted to all potential threats that could possibly cause harm. I did like that it also scan emails for me because you know all the scammers out there and it identified potential threats! Worthwhile investment if you are venture out into Cyberspace!

I installed this onto a desktop that is about 5 years old and I ended having to uninstall it because of how slow my computer started running even when I shut down all but my Word application. I figure that the computer may just be too old and cannot keep up. The download and installation was quite easy. I also installed it on my Android. While there were very detailed instructions, what the instructions said and what was happening on my Andriod didn't completely match. However, because the instructions were so detailed I was able to figure it out. It's running great. I have a Samsung 9 Note. The one thing I didn't like is that when it was cleaning the phone, it just tells me how much can be cleaned but not what is being cleaned so when it asked if I want to remove unnecessary apps, I have to say no because I don't know what it is trying to delete. I will be asking my child to install it on their Android and laptop (as soon as she is home long enough to do so) as her laptop is new so would be better able to determine how it runs on an upgraded processor.

AVG has been around a long time and continues to provide up-to-date protection. With the Latest in internet and device security and maintenance, especially VPN when on the net. I initially had a bad install where nothing worked, but, I removed and reinstalled and now working properly, so, if you run into this, just need to reinstall as sometimes individual device configurations can be a hinderance to any software installs. Password protection is a big plus especially if you do all your banking and bill pay on line. I utilized the Clean up tools and found my fast PC was even faster. So Far I do not see and any over use of system resources with AVG. I really do believe they have fine tuned their software. This is definitely a ultimate experience and you will not be disappointed.

I am not the most inclined to use security software. Mostly because the built in software is good enough for the sites I visit with the knowledge I have. Who should use this: - If you are uncomfortable with computers or are trying to protect someone's computer that is seems to always be getting viruses. This could be the answer to what you need. There are some very nice features to it and it didn't seem to slow down my computer noticeably which is usually the reason I get rid of security software. This time was because I couldn't open my pdf viewer. That was the last straw. To start from the beginning: I downloaded the ultimate version and installed it, great from there. Then as I was going through the setup it asked if I wanted to purchase the VPN and other services that were part of the license that I bought, why was that? I skipped that and then I had to go and select licenses in a different area. The program already had the license and should have just asked me if I wanted to use that one instead of not giving me any other option than to buy it on a monthly basis. Also, the ultimate edition didn't include two other services that they wanted to up-sell...which seems weird... it just kind of left a bitter feeling in the back of my throat. So everything is working good and I'm happy, but then I'm out in the field and I go to open up my pdf editor to make some engineering markups and I can't open my file. I finally traced it back to the fact that my pdf viewer keeps the files open even when it closes (its a microsoft store app) which I love, however whenever there was a file open in the app I couldn't open the app, the only way to open it was to uninstall the security software close all the documents, then reinstall and re open the pdf editor with no open files... not a great solution. The Security software even popped up and asked me if I wanted to trust this app and I said yes and it did absolutely nothing. So that was when I realized I can't use this at all. I do still have the VPN at least. While I didn't run the scans and had it going in the background and it actually worked good on that front I can't recommend it because it left me stranded without the documents I needed when I needed them. Even when I tried to disable it, that didn't work either. The good news was I didn't have any trouble with traditional apps so you may have a much better experience than me if you don't use any store apps or mainly use your computer for surfing the web. And depending on where you go on the web using a program like AVG might a really good idea. Also, Android worked extremely well. I didn't have any issues and it didn't seem to affect my battery life too much. I am actually really impressed with it on the phone. The one thing I didn't like at all is that I got banner adds in my notification asking me to buy more services such as the VPN which I already had running on the phone. I found the place to disable those adds but it was still annoying. The VPN app for android is quite nice as well and works extremely well. So overall I would give the computer version a 2 star and the android version a 4 star review so I averaged it out to a 3 star review.

    Virus Protection and VPN

I've been using AVG Free for a while now, and each time I run into a computer (usually a friend's) that has no protection (besides Windows Defender) I suggest it gets installed and let them decided if they want to upgrade it or not. Getting the AVG Ultimate worked out well for me as I got to install it on 5 different devices. My Iphone 6s (VPN), my windows 10 machine, my Samsung galaxy tablet, my pinball machine that runs off Windows 7, and the last license on a PC I got for my father. VPN - One of the main reasons I wanted AVG ultimate was to install the VPN on everything. I had just recently used NordVPN and it did NOT work out well. However, AVG VPN worked as easily as any VPN software should. I was also able to verify my IP in different countries after connecting/turning it on. Going through the AVG tune-up made me realize how all the things I've been doing individually and manually can be automated by a program, which saves a lot of time so i appreciate that - especially a visual Scandisk, as your standard scan looks like gibberish to your average consumer. Also included, the AVG Secure Browser, which is basically a locked down version of Google Chrome. I immediately made this the default browser on my father's pc. Cons: VPN app (Iphone) doesn't seem to be consistent, though i wonder if that's my old iPhone 6s, for the most part the VPN is working and verifiable, I just haven't figured out when it decides to turn itself off (but also after being idle for a couple of hours). One thing I found very annoying was after I would put in the device code, it would want to go through all the extra features (tune up/vpn), which you are licensed for, but won't let you use it as it tries to bill you for it first, which can be confusing. So as a hint: don't let it auto run any of the extra stuff. Stop it and click on "My AVG" and there you will see the installations for those extra features. Using the default options for putting things to sleep became problematic on my windows 7 gaming machine, and there wasn't a good way to get it working again until I uninstalled it. I will eventually reinstall it, but it greatly slowed down Steam. However, since the machine is Windows 7, I'm not too concerned about troubleshooting as I'll eventually stop using Windows 7 on it. Ultimately, this is definitely something to recommend to everyone.

Anti-Virus software is a must for me. This AVG product has been very useful. I have it installed on 2 Gaming Laptops, a work desktop and a couple of Samsung Tab S4s. Everything has been as advertised and have run into zero issues so far. The VPN add-on is also great to have when I'm out traveling and using public or hotel Wi-Fi. Overall, it's great software and very recommendable. I received this product for my review through the Bestbuy Tech Insider program

The installation process takes a long time even with a very fast internet connection. The features are very good but it does come across with a rather large footprint. The Ultimate edition does include a Tune Up application, a VPN, application, and a password vault. These are all premium features but without long term use, it is hard to know how well they actually perform. I would recommend it but be prepared to watch your system and see how it performs.

The paid version of AVG antivirus suite includes a lot of safeguards including malware and ransomware protection. I especially like the enrollment into the built-in VPN so you can't be easily tracked and have some level of privacy. It downloads quickly and runs scans, makes suggestions to purge unnecessary files, also checks WiFi network security. It asks to check an unknown hotspot to verify it's security before it goes on the trusted list. It works well, is very user friendly, and features are easily accessible.

I have used the AVG Ultimate security software previously on my Windows computer and it was a great experience, using only one program that ran everything included within AVG's suite of products. This time I used it on my Mac computer and it is a completely different experience, there is not just one app that has all the programs like Window's computers have, it is instead 3 different apps that offer completely different interfaces and make for a fragmented experience. The AVG internet security application offers web and computer protection including file scanning for malware and viruses and is a good application in my experience. The other 2 apps, however, are not worth it on the Mac and I would recommend if you are looking for an AVG product on your Mac to just pay for the Internet Security. The file scanner application includes too many files that should not be touched and the user interface is not very good. The VPN application had very few servers compared to others, and the speed in my experience was horrible. Probably the most annoying thing in my experience was the fact that until you apply a code for the full suite of products within any of the AVG applications, they will constantly spam you to buy their other products or to upgrade. It can be very annoying and needs to be limited in my opinion. The AVG ultimate security is NOT a bad product, it is just not as good of an experience as it could be on the Mac. If your primary or only computer is a Mac I would not recommend the Ultimate package and would instead just look at the AVG internet security program.

I felt this is a good software for overall online protection. The antivirus seems to be working well for the past few days I have had it running. Haven't noticed any slow down on my laptop, but it's a newer device within a year old. With this purchase i have been able to install it onto my 3 laptops so I feel more secure on all of them while shopping and browsing online. Overall I like this and I like how it gives me the peace of mind I need. There are some annoying factors I've had with this which is why I couldn't give it a 5 star rating. The issue I'm having is I'll get a prompt that my IP address could be vulnerable and exposed. For a small nominal fee of $4 per month the software wants me to buy added features. I feel this is ridiculous, especially since I have this software already. Why bother trying to extract more money out of me? Not cool. I feel with foolish prompts like this asking me to pay for add on services is ridiculous. If this keeps up, I'll most likely be uninstalling this and shopping for a new antivirus software programming that isn't going to ask me for more money for more services.

They call this antivirus package the ultimate and it really is. Besides the normal protection against viruses, this package has many other useful features and I'm going to tell you about my favorite, TuneUp. There are 4 main functions of TuneUP. - Maintenance - this feature scans your PC and fixes and eliminates broken registry items, broken shortcuts, system junk, browser cache, tracking & other cookies and browsing/download history. - SpeedUp - this function goes through and allows you to pick and choose programs that are running in the background and lets you choose to put them to sleep to speed up your computer. I have 23 programs that I have put to sleep until I need to use them! - FreeUp Space - this function scans your computer temporary windows and other files that can be deleted. I freed up 14.5GB of space on my PC! - FixProblems - is the last function in TuneUp which is your traditional scandisk. This antivirus software also has other additional features like Password Protection and Secure VPN adding to the tremendous value of the Ultimate software package. If you are in need of a new subscription for antivirus, I would recommend giving the Ultimate a try for all of the extra features to get your PC in top shape.

I got the AVG Ultimate and installed it on two PC's running windows 10. The software was very easy to download and set up. And comes with a lot of bells and whistle's.Protecting every thing from emails, hacker attacks, privacy and payments. It's very easy to use and will walk you through everything step by step. It also comes with a VPN (virtual private network). This just helps keep what you do on line private. But it will slow down your internet speeds. The fastest speed I seen when using the VPN was 60 mbps vs 400+ mbps with out it. But this is the case with all VPN services. And has a TuneUp program that will help speed up and clean up your computer. Finding unnecessary files and delete them. Every one needs some kind of virus protection when playing on the web and I feel this has been a good one so far.

AVG Ultimate Multi-Device (5 devices) – 1 yr subscription is easy to install but takes some time because you have to install different components of the software. I installed antivirus, VPN, tune up, and password protection and it worked well. You can use it across platforms as well, PCs, Mac, Android and tablets. I installed all of this on my fairly new DELL Inspiron and have had no issues running the systems. However, my son installed it on his 4 yr old Lenovo and it slowed down his system terribly. He ran it for a while and then got frustrated and uninstalled it. I also have it on my Android and it works well. I’ve used AVG products before, so this was a great update for me.
