Customers are impressed with the Beoplay Portal's sound quality and comfort, frequently citing its lightweight design. However, negative feedback centers on the high price point, inconsistent battery life, and occasional connectivity issues. Some users also noted that the volume could be improved and that the bass response might not satisfy all listeners. The active noise cancellation feature received mixed reviews, with some finding it effective while others felt it could be better.

WAAAAY too expensive for mediocre headphones. Sound quality is good not great. App is good not great. Quality is ok not good. ANC is ok, reminds me of earbud ANC. Headphones Feels real cheap. On the other hand it’s pretty light so not bad wearing all day for gaming. Speaking of which, mic is horrible. If you don’t plan on using it for chatting then they are good. Battery is not good as well. 12 hours max. That’s assuming you go 12 hour strait without stopping. I fully charged them over night, turned them on to play the next day and they had lost 17%. App showed they were at 83% when I started gaming at 5:45 by 2am they were at 20% and lowering by the minute. All in all, these headphones are not worth more then $200 I would not personally recommend this to anyone at anything above $150. For $500 you can get the xbox counterpart headset with much better mic and battery and some higher quality headphones for less then $300.

For $250 maybe even 300 these are an absolute steal. the sound is incredible and comfortable, on a full charge they can last 15- 20 hours...
But here is the problem they're 500 dollars. So naturally there are cons to this as well.. they don't get loud and I mean really they do not get loud.. you don't feel or hear that feeling when you have good loud headphones that are not bleeding your ears but really make you immersive these do not have that. As well as the battery should be longer..
And generally they're just not that user friendly you're not sure which button does what or even if that thing is on or not like Dolby, noise cancellation etc.
Side note please please companies stop with the leather fine let it be an option but please let me have the open back better air flow of polyester.
Save your money by the Astro a50s. sound incredible and by far the most comfortable headset for hours on end.

FOR PC GAMERS WHO DABBLE IN XBOX GAMING

I play all my games and watch all my movies/shows/streams on my monitors.
These headphones replaced my Philips SHP9500. I find for me the B&0 Portals are an upgrade.
Let me tell you why.
The ANC makes my PC gaming experience way better. It blocks out the noise of my 3070. I play on Bluetooth on my PC. I find it to be just as good as it is when wired in terms of latency and sound quality. You can test it too. Bluetooth quality is my opinion. Sound is always personal.
These headphones come with a DAC/AMP built in. It can charge and use the DAC/AMP at the same time. These things wired through the USB-C make it sound even better.
If you have a budget motherboard or laptop, you get a DAC/AMP upgrade and volume controls.
You can connect wireless to the Xbox, and then switch over to PC and connect the USB-C to charge and use the DAC/AMP combo or use Bluetooth 5.1.
If you run a 3.5mm line from the monitor headphone jack to the line-in port in your motherboard you can use your pc and the Xbox at the same time.
The mic is fine. I really do not play with anyone, so the mic is the least of my concern. I am not an active voice comm chatter anymore. I just like the fact that it will be available for that special occasion when I want to speak on voice comms or in game.
The quality of the headphone build is unrivaled. It comes from Bang and Olufsen. Think about it.
How long do you usually keep a pair of headphones? It is an everyday investment for someone like me. The Xbox Series X is going to be here for a while, and I do not plan on stopping gaming any time soon on my PC or Xbox Series X.
Dolby is fine on the Xbox and PC you get a license with these headphones. I use it occasionally, but I am one of those who uses everything default (Stereo NO EQ). I never mess with EQs. I disable EQs in Dolby and it sounds great as well for me.
500 is a lot, but it is an everyday use item for me like a car. The time I spend using headphones is a lot. USB-C prevents overcharging BTW.
These were made for delivering audiophile quality audio to your PC, Xbox, and mobile phone wirelessly, and connected.
If you are not used to sound style of these types of headphones, they were not made for you.
I have had these for a day and have no plans on returning them. They have exceeded all my expectations personally.
They do suffer from micro-phonics. Just be aware of that. This is solvable and does not happen to everyone.
TLDR: FOR PC GAMERS WHO DABBLE IN XBOX GAMING.

These headphones are expensive but they check all of the boxes for me. So far, I am blown away by how these are bringing games to life. Music sounds great as well.
Are there more cost effective options out there that deliver the same qualify sound? Maybe.
I like that they are multipurpose but built with Xbox in mind. You can take a walk with music and easily switch to gaming when you are back in your house. If I ever start cloud gaming on the go, the nonchalant design will be even more useful.
Some occasional minor sound glitches that I am sure will be addressed in future updates. There was an update ready to download as soon as I opened the box.
Other notes:
They are comfortable even while wearing glasses.
The app is easy to use and allows for some nice customization.

Let’s get one thing out of the way. These are NOT bad headsets. They’re pretty great especially for music. However, for $500? The price of an Xbox series x/ps5? 100% not worth that money.
If you already own a high end headset like the Astro A50s, these are not going to be a good enough upgrade to warrant the extra $200 and on some areas won’t be as good, either.
The app is nice and easy to use. Connecting to the Xbox is a pain sometimes. I really dislike that the headset disconnects from the Xbox here and there. It seems like the connection is not very stable between the headset and the Xbox. The Bluetooth works flawlessly if you connect to your phone, for example.
What I can’t understand is why I can change settings like tremble or bass in Bluetooth mode but not in Xbox mode?? Seems really dumb to me not to allow that. Sometimes (not often) I’ll get some kinda of interference with the wireless connection which I also got when I owned the Stealth 600s Gen 2’s but it was nowhere near as bad as those with the connection interference. I’m not sure if it’s the way my setup is or if it’s the headphones.
They are SUPER comfy. Way more so than my Astro A50s were. They’re also super stylish and can be used like your regular headphones when you’re out and about. An issue I have is, is that the sound level for these headphones is way too low. Even on max volume, they do not sound loud enough. I don’t need overbearing sound levels like the maximum sound for the Astro A50s but I also don’t want a lack of loudness.
All in all, they’re great and if they were priced around $300-350 it would be far more reasonable. But there’s no way I could justify spending an extra $200 over something like the Astro A50s which sound a bit better for competitive gaming. I don’t see the market for these headsets, they aren’t top of the line for competitive, they aren’t for the casual gamer at $500.. so who are these for? People that have $500 to blow? Save your money until these get a price reduction.

These are definitely worth buying. The materials used are high quality and I can tell they’ll last for years which is comforting because the price is high. The app is really easy to use and the support is really in depth compared to other companies. One of the other things that had me choose these was the warranty and knowing that the company stands behind their product for several years. The only thing that might be a surprise is having to purchase Dolby Atmos but if you’re already considering these then a few extra dollars isn’t a big deal.

Bought the Portal as I've always wanted a audiophile company to make a wireless headset that worked with the Xbox. The Portal connected within seconds to my Series S. Played about 3hrs so far and everything has sounded phenomenal. The Portal is super comfortable, built durable and has a crystal clear microphone.

Never bought a headset so expensive but man was it worth. I can’t go anything lower than this. Combine this with a dragon fly dac and man the audio is crazy. I use it mainly for gaming on my Xbox and Pc and it’s awesome. Definitely a big upgrade and worth the investment. The support team is also super fast. As suggested in the app, one of the things that I tried was downloading the Dolby Access app from Microsoft Store into my PC. Once the app was downloaded, the site opened up for me to try out the Dolby Atmos using different movie & game clips, trailers & short features. This was Bluetooth connection. Seeing & hearing the promo features film featuring Dolby Atmos, I was transported inside a multi dimensional of sound with different voices and instruments bouncing up and down, from left to right, corner to corner. Very impressive. The few video games clips that I watched had similar effect – it’s like you are transported inside the world of the video games.
I am mostly using the headphone to listen to music or occasionally to watch movies. A few movies that I tried watching using this headphone was Tenet by Christopher Nolan. I was really impressed with the sound. I was watching it on my 2020 iPad which broadcasted it on 4K and it was a really cinematic experience with the sounds bouncing all over – matching exactly what’s going on in the movie.
Listening to Al Jareau’s Mas Que Nada, a song that I always use to test for a new headphone, you can hear the clear separation among each instruments and between Al Jareau & his backing vocal.
So far, I am pretty impressed with the sound of this headphone.
Another thing that I like about it is that there are real buttons to push for on/off or to increase volume. There are also gestures you can perform by tapping the headphone to play and pause music, but I don’t always find it successful. That’s why I always prefer headphone with button that I can physically touch to perform this function.
Bluetooth connection is also very impressive. According to the guide, it should be able to connect to up to 8 devices. Once the Bluetooth connection is established, you just need to push the on button, as long as the device is near, to connect to it.
I also found that the ANC is pretty effective in blocking most of the sound. And you don’t feel like the air was sucked out of your ear, even when the ANC is at the highest.
According to the spec, the battery should last about 24 hours even with the ANC on. Xbox connection will last you 12 hours.
The over ear cushion is pretty comfortable. The earcup is made from a soft material that’s comfortable to wear for a long period of time. I wish instead of round, they would make the ear cup in a more oval shape. Maybe because of the size and shape of my ear, I don’t think I can wear this headphone continually more than 3 hours. But other people may have different experience. I do appreciate that the headphone extends pretty far so it doesn’t feel too tight on my head.
While the material looks soft, I do have to admit that when I looked at it the first time, I didn’t think this was a high end headphone.
And lastly, for the high price, I do find it annoying that this headphone doesn’t come with a pouch or a case. While the earcup itself can be turned around so the headphone can lay flat, this is a pretty big size headphone. And not having a case, it will be harder to carry it if you are traveling or even to keep it safe while it’s not in use.
In the end, while I like the sound, the comfort and the connection, I do find that the features don’t justify its price.

This is the first time owning a pair of B&O's. For gaming, I have been using the Rig 800's (using (Dolby Atmos) and use a pair of Beats and Bose headphones for music/travel. I am into quality products and sound, so I couldn't wait to hear what B&O had to offer. A rough start in connecting the app at first. B&O requires you to give them your email address before you can pair it to the app, so please take note. Initial Xbox connectivity was instant with no issues. I was a little bummed that I couldn't use the Bluetooth at the same time, but for me, it wasn't a deal-breaker.
So I tested these playing about 6 hours of COD on the Xbox and messed around with some music to test the sound quality. I was absolutely impressed with the quality and clean sound of the headphones. In gameplay, I could hear every little noise around me which helped in anticipating the enemy.
The base was not overpowering which I liked as well. I absolutely love the Dolby Atmos. My friends said I sounded clear when talking so that was great. I tested the noise cancellation as well and couldn't believe how well that worked. When running music through the headphones via Bluetooth, the sound was amazing. I liked how I could adjust the equalization through the app on my phone. As far as battery life, I, unfortunately, haven't put enough hours on it to tell you if the headset battery life is 12 hours or not, but so far there are no issues.
Let's talk about comfortability. First off, these are the lightest gaming headphones I have ever owned. They adjust easily and sit perfectly on my head. The leather ear padding is comfortable and I look forward to seeing how they hold up over time.
Here is my overall feeling on justifying spending $500. I have always had to own separate headphones for both gaming and traveling, listening to music or watching movies on a plane. This fits the mold for the most universal "High quality" headphones I have ever owned. If these bad boys fit into your budget, I would highly recommend them.

I was so incredibly excited to hear that one of the best and well-known brands in the speaker and sound business, Bang & Olufsen, created wireless headphones for gaming especially after recently acquiring the new Xbox Series X. The Beoplay Portal Wireless Noise Cancelling over-the-ear headphones was a welcome addition to my gaming set up even though I already had good headphones to prior to getting the new Beoplay Portals as I have been an audiophile for over 20 years and love to see what the high-end competition is creating.
The packaging is what you would expect from B&O, simple yet classy, and briefly covers the features and options you can expect from the headphones. They come with a simple set of directions, a USB-C charging cable and an auxiliary headphone cord which is needed to plug into the controller and set up the Dolby Atmos registration on the Xbox through the app. The headphones themselves are made using high grade materials with a combination of metal, breathable fabric, leather, and hard plastic. This combination creates a comfortable and durable masterpiece of sound. You are able to adjust and control settings, including sound and the ANC transparency, through the smartphone app even while connected to the Xbox. You can adjust the equalizer on the app for different genres of music, movies and games.
The Beoplay Portal headphones are a Limited Series specifically designed for Microsoft Xbox and PC gamers in mind. They connect to the Xbox via a 2.4 ghz wireless instead of Bluetooth to create a more solid connection and not take away from the Bluetooth signal the Xbox controller uses. The gaming experience with these headphones is next level offering not only a Bluetooth 5.1 surround experience but also Dolby Atmos sound which can be activated through the Dolby Access application on the console. The headphones are perfect for when my wife prefers the sound off and not blasting out ears with the full stereo on during gaming or movies. They sound amazing regardless of what gaming you are into and especially for first-person shooters as you can hear everything going on around you. The microphone is built into the headphones and acts as a virtual boom arm so there is no need to attach a mic for chat or talking smack. The active noise cancelling works great although not the best I have heard from the high-end headphone market.
To add to the impressiveness, I want to add how incredible they sound for music or movies on your Bluetooth smart device. Every time I put them on, I am seriously blown away how much better they sound compared to the other high-end wireless over-the-ear headphones I have used in the past. The balance of low-end bass, mid-range and high, crisp highs creates a symphony of incredible sound no matter what genre you are listening to; honestly, better than any other sounding headphones I have ever used. To ensure it was not just me being bias about the B&O brand and knowing they always raise the bar in sound, I decided to showcase them to several other friends who own other makers of high-end, expensive headphones. Needless to say, they were all taken back by the sound as well; I even had a neighbor tell me to put them away before he walked off with them.
Personally, I am thrilled I have headphones that sound amazing for gaming, movies, and music. I can easily see these replacing and consolidating every set of headphones I own; or, perhaps, this is just me justifying the high price tag since they cost about the same as buying two separate sets of other maker’s headphones... feel free to use that excuse as well to negotiate with your spouse the purchase of these as, in my opinion, it’s well worth the investment in sound. You’re welcome. Now I just need to make sure I lock these down before someone does take off with them… I hope the next version adds GPS tracking because I would hate to lose these masterpieces.

The sound quality is amazing. Everything sounds so good directionally and the definition is insane. I am able to hear things in game, that my friends cannot. However, the battery life is just ok and the range on these is pretty poor. Sometimes when Im sitting back my friends say its hard to hear me, and when i get up to get water from the kitchen (the next room) they disconnect. Also the mic quality isnt bad but my friends prefered my old headset. Also the confort level is okay but i have had more comfortable headsets. For the price it is a toss up if it is worth it, but hearing as well as you do is insane.

No idea what the other reviewer was doing, but my setup was totally different. I charged them up to make sure they were 100%, and then followed the directions to the letter. They paired fine with my iPhone and my Series X, and I can now switch back and forth between them with one button press.
The sound is incredible, and I'm sure it's probably the best you'll get through a wireless connection. Which is the one drawback... the range is quite limited! My old dongle-type wireless headphones had much stronger signal, but it shouldn't be too much of an issue. If I walk away, and still want music, I just switch to the Bluetooth/iPhone connection.
Comfort is good, they are lighter than you'd expect. The lack of a boom arm is weird to get used to, but my Xbox friends all say I sound excellent and clear, so it must be working as intended.
Atmos setup fine on the Xbox, but I already had it going. I could tell a difference in Call of Duty and was near 100% accurate with the "kids over here" call outs... much easier to pick out footsteps over my old RIG 800s or the new Microsoft headset (which is too bass heavy).
My only gripes are the steep price and the fact that accidentally hitting the "switch between Bluetooth/Xbox button" while in Bluetooth mode will boot up the Xbox if it's in range. But I think that's true with any of the "connect directly to Xbox" headsets, as the Microsoft one does the same thing.

The quality of this item is what keeps it at 5 stars. There are a few things that I do dislike, however.
The material, build and sound quality are absolutely amazing. The app is really nice too, as you can create your own EQ. Comfort is fantastic. Very convenient that I can be gaming and with a push of the button take them to go jump on a plane and listen to music. Noise canceling works well.
Here’s what I dislike:The battery life while gaming is not good at all. You'll get two long gaming session before you have to charge. I’d say about 8 hours total. I charge them every time I finish playing because I’m afraid of the battery dying the next time I play. Music and movie battery life on my phone is far better.
The touch volume sliders can get finicky because it’s easy to accidentally change the settings when you don’t mean to. They work well and it’s not a big deal once you’re trained to grab the actual ear cup to put them on and off.
I wish they had come with a case. Which leads to the last thing and that’s price. $500 should include a case, that’s ridiculous. Luckily I got lucky where Amazon had some sort of flash Black Friday deal where these were $280. I honestly don’t know if I’d pay $500, but they are normal looking so I can use them not just for gaming. I can’t imagine walking around with a giant Turtle Beach headset in public haha.

For headphones, they're great. They sound good, they're comfortable and all the touch gestures work well. However, these are really expensive and not worth the full price.
