    Almost perfect...

I've owned this for several years now and I'm still impressed with this little speaker. This blows away even bigger multi-speakers. I use this as my main surround sound speaker when watching movies/games on my home projector. I'm picky with sound and this still gives me a satisfying home theater experience. It's really impressive for such a small size, the clarity and detail this is capable of. No nasty muffled sound at all. Beautiful sound. Now for the negatives. There is no 3.5mm jack! The button placement is hard to see (hate holding to power on) and it's not even backlit.

Powerful sound in a portable package! Highly recommend - impressive range, good bass, and loud (enough). Also, incredibly designed!

Very nice speaker for audio in a small to midsized individual office. Sound fills up a closed room well. Bathroom. Small office. Solidly built. Nice, albeit perhaps overly heavy, build quality. It east touted for the great microphones and I actually purchased for speakerphone usage to be paired with my cell phone. I found, however, the sound quality for calls wasn’t there. I totally sounded like I was on a speakerphone to the other side - that tiny / distant voice sound even when I was speaking directly into the speaker - and I tested with calls and even recorded VM to myself to hear. The speakerphone on my iPhone 12 just sounded better. Ultimately, IMO (1) price did not justify and (2) promise of microphone quality wasn’t lived up to.

Great sound. It’s not the loudest speaker for it’s size but it has an app to adjust the sound to you like. Bass is really nice even at low level. If you want good sound get this. If you want loud sound get something else

Let me start off by saying that the Beosound A1 sound amazing, with full, non-distorting sound, perfect for a minimalist WFH setup. Sadly, after one week, I had to return it. Why? the A1 would periodically drop the bluetooth connection for a second or two, just long enough to ruin listening to music or a podcast. I had hoped that this was an anomaly and things would work out; however, during daily use, the bluetooth connection would drop, forcing me to look for other speaker outputs for listening. I cannot trust Bang & Olufsen to fix this problem, as it is likely related to their firmware rather than the unit itself. And the A1 2nd Gen only connects via bluetooth, as there is no other available input. I do not recommend buying the A! until Bang & Olufsen adds back another input be it usb or audio jack.

Among portable Bluetooth speakers, the sound is considered to be among the highest. I've heard that it's better to use it as a stereo, so I'm considering purchasing more.

I bought these, hoping just hoping the connections would work and remain. They absolutely do not, requiring wash, lather, rinse, and repeat. BUYER BEWARE! These things lose connections like non other. I think they were engineered to preserve battery life/charge, as you're not able to change any power save modes. If you could turn this off/modify, these things would work a whole lot better. The trade off would be that one would have to remember to turn these off manually and or monitor battery life more closely, which I would gladly have done. Let me explain. Unless you mute your audio source while letting it run in a continuous loop, these things lose their blue tooth pairing after about 30 minutes. This forces users to reengage the multi-step process over and over and over again. You literally have to start from scratch, which is an even bigger hassle if you stereo pair. I call it the speaker beep beep of death, which is the alert that the speaker just powered down and lost the connection. It's incredibly stupidly engineered. This is a perfect example of B&O employing engineers or psychologists to run their consumer experience depts versus poets. As to the sound, it's incredibly gratifying, depending on the source. With everything blue tooth, better/ more current tech = better signal = better sound. My laptop from iTunes sounded MUCH better than my iPhone SE. The sound like all things B&O is spot on and balanced versus brighter from something like say Klipsch. It's also well done from the standpoint that you can change equalizer settings from the app, which is very intuitive. I believe they got the app and sound right. The other downside is that the stereo pair often crackles and breaks up intermittently for unexpectedly reasons. All blue tooth signals are only at most 15 feet and in clear paths. Back these go! Why these companies continually put their good names to blue tooth pairing devices without built in measures to improve signal continuity is way beyond me. I would have gladly payed another $50+ each to get a wifi connection, which is infinitely better. Sonos figured this out, so why can't the others???

    Connection drops during phone calls

My biggest issue with this product is that the speaker simply cuts out while I am speaking to people on the phone, or it will never even kick in. So I might ask someone a question and not hear a response because the speaker will just stop working. Or I will call someone and not hear the phone ring or the person pick up. At first I thought I was having network issues with my phone, but then I realized whenever it happened and I switched off the Beosound (to the phone speaker, built-in speakerphone, or other Bluetooth devices), the sound would immediately start working again. So clearly a Beosound issue. Obviously, this is a problem particularly during business calls. Also, the quality of the sound is not what I expected. It's pretty good or even great, but not incredible. Some music has a fuzzy sound to it. (I'm really not an expert on this stuff so I would not know how to describe it). I would probably give it 4 stars if not for the primary issue with sound dropping out, but I am only giving it 2 because that is obviously a glaring issue.
