This projector was purchased to replace a W1070 I purchased in 2013. The projector I replaced worked great for about a year, but then I started getting a flashing red lamp light which basically meant it was overheating. The projector was cleaned monthly, which I believe was what gave it enough cooling to be intermittent. It is a great projector with several addons that typically come in higher priced models. I never got into 3D so I don't have experience with it on this projector, but I've heard great things. I've had the new W1070 for just over a month and so far it's running fine through hours and hours of hockey. I do notice that the fan noise is much louder than the previous model I had, so I'm guessing there were some changes to fan cfm because of my issue. I gave it 3 stars due to the issues I had with my first one, but also say it's a great beginner's projector that puts out a great picture.

    A "Good Enough" Projector

I've always been a plasma fan and have owned the best. (aka Pioneer, Panasonic.) Therefore I am used to amazingly inky black levels, which result in brilliant deep colors. I knew that getting this projector would have it's benefits and downsides. Pros: Size of picture! (I'm projecting a 105" screen. A TV this size would be in the 5 figures!) 3D is amazing! (Largely due to the large screen size.) Cheap! (Only about $870 on sale, compared to the $2500 I paid for my Panny 65GT50.) Cons: Picture quality is considerably worse than top notch plasmas. Fan is kinda loud, but not bad enough for me to return it. Need to replace lamp bulb. Overall, I moved my plasma to my bedroom and have now made this projector as my main set up in the living room. Even though the picture is not even close to my plasma, it's "good enough." It's still 1080p, it's still HD, but the colors just don't pop and the black level isn't inky. Basically the increase in picture size overrides the loss in picture quality. Watching DirecTV, blu rays, and gaming is a new experience on a 105" screen. 3D is the most impressive. Having a giant screen really enhances the experience. I can appreciate the depth and pop outs more than on my 65" plasma. In this case, size matters folks! Honestly, the reason I bought this projector was because of the value. For only $870, it was worth trying out. To me, the 3D alone was worth the price. Even though the picture quality isn't as good as my plasma, the size difference makes it worth it, especially with 3D. This projector is definitely worth a trial run. Tip: You do NOT have to buy the Benq 3D glasses. You can get cheaper one's online and they work just fine. (Personally I have SainSonic and TrueDepth.)

Ok, so fair warning, if you purchase this be prepared for all your friends to come over and watch every sporting event! This thing is legit and works great in our basement WITH the lights on! Movies are incredible on this as well. For $900 you won't find a better projector out there. We have yet to test out the 3d side of the projector so I can't comment on that. It's laughable that you can spend $3500 on an 80" TV when you can get this for under a grand. Also, no bad seat in the house when this projector is fired up. We bought a remote screen to come down from the ceiling and found that it was actually bright enough to have on the wall without the screen, saved us $200!

Purchased the Benq 1070W after over a year of researching. Wavered between large flat screen and a projector, but couldn't beat the price. I also opted for the projector due to the limited amount of 4K content since most cable or satellite providers stream 1080i only. I'm also not a big gamer, so it is used mostly for movies and sports. I paired it with an Elite Screens 110" screen which is yielding a clean viewing surface. I installed and calibrated the projector myself. Definitely doable, but be patient as you manage through the screen adjustment and then locking the nuts in place. Be sure to research the throw distance as the optimal distance is 10.5 feet. Finding how to flip the image if you ceiling mount it upside down is not intuitive, but available info is online. I have not tested the sound since I have surround sound in the room. The fan is not too loud and completely unnoticeable with my surround sound on. We watch more movies now and the experience is great!

I got this around Christmas time so I got a GREAT deal on it! $900 projector for like $600! It's an awesome picture for my 106" screen & 3d is sweet on it! Recommended for sure! I read the reviews before purchasing & most were satisfied besides a guy trying to get performance out of it on a 150" screen which I can understand. This is for a smaller home theater I'd guess... As I said looks great on my 106"

The BenQ W1070 is our first projector, and so far so good! Picture is bright enough without need for black out shades. Will need to upgrade the sound.

For the money this is by far the best 3D projector on the market. I have tried the more expensive models from Epson and Panasonic but I chose to keep this one because of the clear and bright picture. You will not be disappointed. Great 3D picture!

We replaced our 8 yr old projector with this one and love it! Would recommend it to anyone ! Reasonably priced compared to others and we like how clear the picture is and that we can leave the lights on in the room and still have a clear bright picture.

For the price this is a good product. I don't have much knowledge about projectors. This is just great to use in dark rooms. I have it set up in a room with window on the side. Even with the blinds closed, this is not great during the day

Read, and read for weeks various reviews before pulling the trigger. Glad I did. Great picture, minimal noise, quick warm up. Throwing a 100" image from about 10' away ceiling mounted. Barely calibrated and the image looks great. Haven't had the chance to try the 3D yet as I only have one 3D BluRay, and not sure I want to buy glasses for one movie. Use this mostly for gaming, and I can't detect any noticeable lag.

A great entry level DLP projector for a good price (<$1,000). It's best to set it up and don't touch it again unless you're an expert with mounts and projector settings.

I wish to see the tele casted TV programs in a larger screen. One option I could think of is buying Projectors, reason is It is portable. Easy to move between rooms. This one is very good and never have disappointed me. I enjoy my weekends watching movie in big screen by this projector. The build quality is stable and I would recommend for others.
