    Cord-free vacuuming

BISSELL 1984 AIR RAM cordless 22V Vacuum I got our Bissel last evening and let it charge overnight (it needs about 5 hours charge time). This morning we needed about 5 minutes to get it ready for use. Everything fits together nicely, without the need for instructions. It’s all plastic, but the fit, weight, and finish left us with no concerns. Time will tell. Ergonomically, the Bissel has its act together. The weight of the vac from the user’s perspective is quite low because the balance is near perfect, with most of the weight in the head sitting on the floor. Maneuvering the Bissel was helped by the comfortable handle and a lower grab bar. The points of rotation provide comfortable control over the vac during any typical pushing or pulling, Upright “Lock” position is a reassuring click although you might wonder just how robust these plastic parts really are. The large ON/OFF power button is easy to push with your toe. The dust collector chamber releases easily. There is no indication that this is a HEPA filtered vac, if that is a concern. It also looks like you have to empty the dirt chamber manually, but the process is made easier with a lever that forces the dirt out. You will want to wash the filter occasionally. and can only use it when dry. I see no reference to replacement filters. Actual use was almost fun. The flexibility, size, and weight of the Bissell made using it quite easy in every room, getting under beds and sofas or into closets. The suction was powerful and lasted through an entire cleaning session in our 2800sq ft house. The 22V battery easily approaches the power I’ve come to expect in my power tools, full power for an extended period of use. A run across carpets and floors resulted in a full dirt canister. Transitions over rug edges required some care, because the suction will lift the edges. Sound level measured in my quiet room is typically 47dB, and the operating Bissell increased that to 78dB(rugs), and 81dB (hard floor). You might not even need to raise the TV volume. I liked the new Bissell quite a bit. I am concerned about the filtering issue, believing that this premium vacuum ought to have readily available filter replacements, maybe even a HEPA filter option for the exhaust. (The filter isn't described as lifetime.) Heavy users might even want an extra battery. [A cheaper device might be considered a throwaway. This feels more premium and should be supported as a premium product.] Other than that, I can highly recommend this premium quality vacuum.

This vacuum is unlike anything else. Opening the box, I was pleasantly surprised on how organized it is, like opening a high end electronics. Inside the carton there is another box with a handle, which opens like a folder and each piece is neatly organized. Putting it together takes just as minute. The vacuum itself is very compact. All the components are on the base. The handle is quality plastic and aluminum, making it lightweight. It even has an extra handle to lift it. The handle swivels making maneuvering the vacuum very easy. The Li-Ion battery pack is removable (similar to power tools) and can be charged on the vacuum or stand-alone. This is great because it could have an additional battery pack, and the vacuum doesn't have to be discarded when the battery dies, like on some stick vacuums. Status LEDs are also part of the battery cartridge. It indicates charging, charge and faults. An very unique feature is that the roller is surrounded by rubber strips that when on the floor creates a vacuum so the suction is very good, on par or better than on corded vacuums. It picked up amounts of dirt from an area rug that the previous vacuum wouldn't. The base is fairly low profile and the handle goes flat to the floor so it can easily reach under beds. The front of the vacuum has LED strips that makes it easy to see where it goes. The roller has enough power to help push the vacuum forward, and is has a tangle detection feature that will stop the vacuum if it gets tangled. I haven't seen any other vacuum do that. The battery lasts about 30 minutes on hardwood floors, and feels like it's working harder on rugs. The roller can be removed if used on shaggy rugs. One caveat is that the roller can accumulate hair, although it's very easy to remove: Push a pin on the side and comes off. The bin and filter are all in one piece, and comes off easily by just lifting it off the vacuum. The bin is light and small. When opening it to empty, there is a handle to help push all the dirt out without having to touch the container. No need to shake it to get dust balls off. There is a replaceable filter in form of a tube that can be rinsed clean, and that's inside the bin, so all the dirty parts are self-contained. The handle stays upright on its own. I have to hold the base with one foot so start it, so it won't fall off when not in use. Having a swiveling handle makes it very easy to use. The handle can be retracted in half to keep it very compact, and can be completely removed with a push of a button or folded in half for storage. When it's turned on, there's a soft chime indicating it's all well and it immediately starts. Overall it's an excellent machine, with sensible industrial design and good engineering. I'm very satisfied with it.

    Powerful vacuum for small spaces

This vacuum is a slightly different take on your normal stick vacs. Most stick vacs are good only on bare floors or small spaces where there's not a whole lot of foot traffic. And being corded, they're weren't always the easiest or most convenient. This unit incorporates a bit of everything as far as vacuums go and does so in a very effective way. To start, this vacuum is cordless so no more cords to wrap up or get tangled up in. The vacuum itself comes disassembled into three pieces. Assembly time is negligible and takes less than a minute to do . In lieu of a cord, there is a battery which you slide into place in the base of the vacuum and charge up. The charging cable is no different than your phone/tablet charger and is very easy to store/travel with if needed. While most other cordless/stick vacs are bagless, this one uses a canister which is located in the vacuum head. It's easy to remove as well as clean the filter. It's on the small side so depending on where you're using this, you might need to empty it frequently. Due to the relative light duty aspect of this vacuum, I wouldn't imagine it would be used for whole-house vacuuming. I have hardwood floors in my place so the normal sized vacuum I have worked ok but didn't always pick up the debris from the wood flooring or would scatter it away due to the air flow. This unit worked quite well in that aspect picking up most everything on my floors...even in the small gaps between the wood flooring. Couple times I had to go over the same spot to pick up the debris. Glides quite smoothly on wood flooring and didn't scratch it up which is always nice. In my bedrooms I have rather thick pile carpeting and, while this vacuum was able to clean it, I don't think it got that deep down cleaning I get from the normal sized vacuum I have. Noise wise, it's less noisier than normal sized vacuums so you can vacuum without interfering with other household members. I haven't had this long enough to comment on charging either how long it takes or how long the battery lasts. Seeing as this is a light duty vacuum, I assume it should last throughout the week without needing to charge. Overall, I think this is better suited for dorms/apartments/condos rather than a full house. While it's able to vacuum an entire house, the power you get from this compared to a full sized vacuum isn't comparable. This is kinda of expected simply due to its size so it's not really a surprise here. But in terms of convenience/portability/functionality, I think this is a nice vacuum for smaller places or areas with wood flooring.

Bissell 1984 AirRam Cordless Vacuum When I first put this vacuum together I was not impressed with the quality. It took just a few minutes to slide the main handle into the base and then slip the upper handle to the lower handle. After that it was ready to use. The instructions were clear and it went together very easy. It came with about a quarter of charge which was enough to push a foot size button on the base and I was using the vacuum. I started on my wood floor on the downstairs of my house. My first impression was how light the vacuum was. It has a very bright set of led lights on the front that works very well. Without the cord and being so light it didn’t take me long to finish the first floor. I checked the dust container which pulls straight out of the base. You then go to a trash can and there is a small release on the container with a sliding mechanism that pushes your debri out of the container. Inside of the container is a second filter that slides out and according to the manual can be washed. So there are no bags or replaceable filters that could cost later. Slip the few pieces back together and it slips right back into the base. Do it once and its works pretty well. I then charged the battery overnight. There are four large lights on the battery so it’s easy to tell the charging level is at all times. The wall charger is very small and you can charge the battery in the vacuum or out. Once fully charged I tackled the upstairs which is all carpet. Since there is no height adjustment the going was slower. Still it did a very good job and you do appreciate not having to stop and find a new outlet. Once you start you can forget about the cord and finish without stopping. And your again reminded of the good job for the placement of the led lights. I did the downstair wood floors again and had about half of the battery left. My house is 1,800 square feet. There was no doubt I could do the whole house twice from a fully charged battery. The vacuum works much better than my first impression. The handle is comfortable and when you collapse the lower handle it is a very small package that is easy to store. It felt good to use and the battery life seem good for the size. It is easy to clean and I even did the stairs where the light weight made that easier than any other vacuum I have used. I would be tempted to get the extended warranty just because it is probably a value at this price level and does give you that small peace of mind if it ever needed a repair. But in my use I never felt like it was cheap or can’t do what I expected. This is a good value and I could get very used to not dragging a cord all over the house.

Excellent packaging design. Vacuum was easy to assemble. I've used the vacuum for few days and I am very impressed with the results. Removing Dirt is very easy. I owned heavy and high end vacuums and this vacuum design has been improved, especially with dirt removal. The low profile makes it easy to get under beds, sofas and furniture. Now, Vacuuming has become very easy and fun at home during weekends. My wife love it! I use it for both hard surfaces and carpeting. The Air Ram performance exceeded my expectations! Very easy to put together, charges quickly and last long, easy debris removal, compact, light, does its job! It has great suction power. We have a large dog and this vacuum picks up dog hair and dirt similar like my larger Bissell vacuum. The cordless is so light weight and easy to handle. We are pleased with vacuum results and definitely recommend to anyone who wants simple and elegant design.

If you are looking for a cordless vacuum to use for smaller areas, I wouldn't use this for large carpeted areas I'll explain later, then this is an excellent option. To start, this is very light weight and easy to assemble. Being that it's cordless you will need to charge the lithium Ion battery for about 4 hours for the initial charge. It has an indicator on the battery that lets you know when it's fully charged. Once it's ready to go, drop the battery in the slot and you're ready to roll. My first test run was on a small rug in the kitchen that was not that dirty. So I thought! In a very short time, it cleaned the rug and literally filled up the debris canister. This was a clean rug! The canister has a neat feature that allows you to empty the canister by using a slide bar to get everything out. No more having to stick your fingers in to pull stuff out. To my previous point about using it for small areas, this vacuum picks up so much dirt that if you were to use it in a large room you would spend a great deal of time emptying the canister. It really is that good. After vacuuming several carpets it still had a full charge so that shouldn't be an issue. Overall this is one neat, convenient vacuum that would be well suited for apartments, motor homes or a dorm room.

The Bissell AirRam: Designed for Convenience

The Bissell AirRam is simple to assemble, taking roughly 5 minutes to open the box and have it fully assembled. It has a sleek body design that is attractive in almost any setting. For convenience, the Bissell AirRam easily folds down for storage so as to note take up too much space. Additionally, the battery has 2 charging options: you can either charge the battery while it is in the unit, or, if you store the vacuum where you don't have an electric plug, you can remove the battery and charge it elsewhere. The battery life is excellent. I was able to vacuum my entire house, around 2000 square feet, with more than 1/2 charge left. It was also a quick job since I didn't have to mess with switching electric plugs. Its ability to switch seamlessly from carpet to flooring was also a big time-saver. Another convenience feature is how easy it is to remove and empty the Dirt Bin. It easily pulls out and can be quickly emptied without getting your hands dirty or making a mess. The Bissell AirRam features swivel steering, which combined with the unit's light weight, allow for easy one-handed use so you can use your free hand to move furniture around. It's low-profile also allows you to get under many pieces of furniture. The LED lights on the front of the Bissell AirRam allow for easy visibility, even in darker places like closets, allowing you to ensure that everything has been picked up.

This unit is the Bissell AirRam Cordless 2-in-1 Stick Vac. It is ultralight, ultra powerful in a cordless form, and is easy to use and easy to dump. This unit operates on a 22 volt lithium battery, and will give a run time of 40 minutes on bare or hard floors and 30 minutes on carpeted floors. Once the charge is depleted, it will recharge in 4 hours. This unit is easy to steer, and is great for steps. I will be using it on our three flights of steps. Dumping this bagless unit is a breeze. The front of the unit has some super bright leds so you can see where you are vacuuming. You can also remove the beater bar fairly easily, so you can vacuum longer rugs or rugs with tassels with out damaging them. Two things I don't like about this unit is, first it has no way to do crevice vacuuming, it really is for the quick clean up, or steps, with the idea that you would still need to use a crevice tool on your big boy vacuum to get good clean corners. Second, when you remove the beater bar for more delicate vacuuming, there is a plug that has to seal up a hole to maintain proper suction. When the beater bar is in place there is no where to store this plug. I imagine mine will get lost in no time.

Two words, SMALL SPACES! I've had a floor cleaner or two in my time and a lot of them suggest that their perfect maneuver and have great suction to suck up dirty and mess in small crevices. Well the Air Ram is the official fix. We bought our house three years ago and since i've stocked my closets with items I refuse to go in and vacuum for the mere fear of sweating up a storm, getting angry and making more of a mess with all my shoes than achieving my goal! The Air Ram has accomplished that and there was one surprise. So I have a robot vacuum which does the floors, my normal vacuum has fallen on my before using the pipe to do my stairs which caused frustration. I took the Air Ram to my stairs and the Air Ram did it! It cleaned my stairs, it's the perfect width for the stairwell covered in carpet. I am so pleased with how compact it is and how it hides easily in my laundry closet. The design is cute and easy to assemble, the suction is great and the canister is easy to empty. Charing was super fast and it lasts quite a bit. I couldn't figure out what the hand on the front would be used for but wait until you get to your stairs, it helps you control the movement in swift back and forth motions! I'm amazingly pleased with Bissell!

We have an indoor dog. He makes our lives complete, but he also leave a lot of hair laying around. So, we end up vacuuming the house multiple times per week. This in itself wouldn’t be that big of a deal, but trying to juggle the old of the ‘big’ vacuum along with maneuvering around various objects and obstacles. That’s where the Bissell AirRam Cordless Vacuum comes in to help. This amazing little vacuum packs a powerful punch against dirt and debris. I don’t vacuum as much as I should because I hate hauling out the ‘big’ vacuum and dragging the cord all around the house. I have to plug it in in one room, then plug it in halfway down the hallway, and then plug it in in our front room. It’s extra steps that I don’t like taking. So, the first thing I was really happy about with the AirRam was the fact that it’s cordless. The battery holds a charge for a very long time. Out of the box (which was not a full charge), I was able to vacuum our living room, hallway, second bedroom, and office area — approximately 1000 square feet — without needing to charge it. This really impressed me. To charge it, you disconnect the battery and plug it into the wall using a power adapter. If I were to change one thing about this process, it would be to create a charging dock of sorts for the AirRam to sit and charge on. As it is, removing the battery and charging it by power adapter is still preferable to chasing around a lengthy cord that is attached to the vacuum unit. I’ll admit that when I got this ‘stick’ vacuum, I wasn’t expecting very good results on the carpet. We have thick carpet and I really didn’t think that it would pick up much other than surface dirt. I was completely wrong! It’s a mighty mini vacuum and it pulls a lot of dirt, dust and debris out of the core of the flooring. It’s bagless and the collection cylinder easily pops out of the vacuum and even has a slider to aid you in emptying the collected dirt. The vacuum is lightweight and very flexible so you can get underneath beds and other furniture quite, quite easily. You can also use this on hard surface (wood, tile, etc.) flooring. I used it on our tile floor and was very happy with the results. I don’t have any benchmarking tests to put the AirRam against except a comparison to our larger vacuum unit, which is a full size vacuum designed to pick up pet hair (it’s a Hoover). I would say that the AirRam works just as well as our full size unit and is perfect for ‘in between’ cleaning jobs. It’s easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to push on carpet — even thick, heavy carpet like what I have.

This has been a great choice for us to use upstairs in our house. I was a little concerned that the battery may not be able to last long enough to vacuum the upstairs of our house without needing a recharge, but it was easily able to. It's quieter than any vacuum I've owned in the past as well. Pros: lightweight, quiet, led lights showing battery remaining, battery , collapsible handle Cons: no hose attachment, a bit too tall to fit under some of our furniture

    THIS IS A UNIQUE VACUUM

This is a convenient and fun to use vacuum. This vacuum is also designed and made with quality materials. The charger is smaller than I had expected, but it is nice to have a small charger that does not take up much space. The lithium battery has a release lever that is simple to press and the battery lifts off of the vacuum easily. The battery has a set of 4 indicator lights that show the level of charge while it is in use, and also shows the status of the battery while charging. When the lithium battery is charging, the lights flash, and when charging is complete, all 4 lights remain lit. I really like the battery and charger that comes with this vacuum. The plastic that this vacuum is made out of, is the same type of plastic that my more expensive vacuum is made of, which is a good thing. The underside of the vacuum has a rubber flap, which seals the vacuum to the floor and allows maximum pick up for the medium amount of suction that this vacuum has. The result: If this vacuum is being used on medium to thick carpet, then the rubber flap scrapes the ground and causes a noticeable amount of friction. This vacuum does glide noticeably easier on low carpeting. I am using this vacuum on medium high carpeting, and I would describe it as needing to be kind of dragged across the carpeting, compared to a more simple rolling across the carpeting. An older and weaker person might not be able to drag this vacuum over medium or thick carpeting very easily. The fact that this vacuum has a rubber sealing flap that sits so low to the ground, does kind of make it necessary to drag it across medium to thick carpeting, but it also results in this vacuum sucking up dirt that is deep into the carpets. It might be possible to cut off 1/16 of an inch from the bottom rubber sealing flap, to reduce the friction this vacuum has when it is being pushed and pulled over medium to thick the carpeting. The button that releases the handle to its extended position, is easy to press and the handle locks in place securely. The swivel action on this vacuum functions quite nicely. The dust bin on this vacuum is not the same as on most modern day cyclonic vacuums, there might be a cyclonic action to the dust bin, but it is not in the exact same way. The dust bin has an inner foam filter which actually directly traps the finer dust that is not trapped by the inner plastic grill, because of this, this is not considered a no loss of suction vacuum. It does not really need to be though, regular cleaning of the dust bin will keep the suction at an optimal level. For the most effective dust bin maintenance, the inner foam filter should be cleaned with water every time the dust bin needs to be emptied. I live in small trailer, and I vacuumed the carpets in my entire trailer over 3 times with one battery charge, then when the battery power finally ran out, I emptied the dust bin. I would say that with average use, for me at least, the battery in this vacuum would last around 1 month worth of vacuuming, and the dust bin would need to be emptied and cleaned once a month. If you have a household with more than one person, the dust bin on this vacuum might need to be cleaned more often. Because this vacuum can be grabbed and used quickly for a vacuuming session, without having to hassle with unwinding and plugging in a cord, I find myself vacuuming more often.

I am a self-confessed neat freak. I own multiple floor cleaning devices (two Dysons, a steam mop, lightweight vacuums) and while this is by no means a replacement for my Dysons (it's not even trying to play in that league), it is going to replace my other lightweight vacuums that I use for my tile floors. Most of the 1st floor of my house is tile with grout and so it can be challenging to get it clean with the dust and tracked in dirt. My primary vacuum for those floors (wow, that sounds really bad when I see it typed out) is my Electrolux Ergorapido which has done a fine job. It is light, easily maneuverable, and cleans pretty well. This new Bissell AirRam blows it out of the water. The vacuum sits a lot lower to the ground and actually creates more suction and does a fabulous job of getting dirt out of even the grout lines, which the Electrolux could only manage now and then. Even though the Bissell cleaning unit is bigger than the Electrolux, it still fits under the cabinets and all my furniture to easily clean in those hard to reach places. The light on this thing is also fantastic and really helps you to find the dirt to suck it up. I also like that the Bissell is also a Transformer. Gone are the days of Transformers as cool cars and vehicles, now they are vacuums. The handle on this does a nice collapse that helps it store away easily in a closet. I think AirRam Prime would be a good name for this one. Wow, I really am a nerd. Finally, I also like the battery system for the AirRam. The battery pops out of the side and recharges with a nice and small plug (no need to have a big charging base station like the Electrolux) and it has a great LED indicator on top to let you know how much charge is available. Bissell has really created a winner here. If you are looking for a great vacuum for cleaning up everyday dirt and debris, this should be at the top of your list. I already called my friend who quite possibly is a bigger neat freak than me and told her about this. I think I heard a bit of a school-girl squeal out of her at the thought of a new vacuum.

We've had many hardwood vacuums and this is by far my favorite! This outshines my cordless Dyson and is was less expensive. We live with 3 dogs and 2 cats so our "petting zoo" constantly needs cleaned. The LED lights on the front help locate even the small white hairs from our dog. We typically have the issue that hair gets stuck around the brush and then we have to cut it off (gross) this handles our husky's hair like a champ! It's amazing, light weight and keeps it's charge very well. I am so happy we choose this vacuum over the other cordless options.

The Bissell Airram 2 in 1 Cordless Stick Vac is a nice concept. I love the idea of a cordless vacuum but I have a feeling this will not stand the test of time. The Airram certainly is convenient and squeezes into tight spaces nicely. The handle can go flat making it easier to get under the bed. The key is standing the test of time. All manufacturers love to use the phrase "does not lose suction", However, most of them lose suction after a few uses. The Bissell is no different. Stick vacuums are great for apartments but in a home, the unit will not last. Otherwise the vacuum looks slick, with ergo handles, etc.

I have had the precursor to the AirRam for 2+ years. Love the improvements. It has outlasted 3 cordless Dyson in the family. Strong suction and the lite lets you see all the dirt. Works well on Hardwood and carpets of all lengths. Lite weight and maneuverable so cleaning goes faster. I also use on tile floors. Got this for my daughters for xmas and they love it.

I had never seen a cordless vacuum cleaner with such a powerful suction. Actually, many wired ones does not have such a kind of power. It is very light, easy to use on stairs and underneath furniture. It has bright LED lights that make it very useful when vacuum cleaning dark areas. This is the first vaccum cleaner that we ever had that doesn't bother us when emptying the bin. You just pop it out and slide a lever which assists in emptying it. Easy, fast and no mess. The downside is that the bin is too small for such a powerful cleaner which forces you to empty it out very often. Although we use a Roomba to clean our hardwood and carpet floors every other day, when we use the AirRam it feels like the Roomba isn't doing much because it collects so much dust including pet hair. We decided that we will use it once a week so the Roomba won't lose its job. I don't know how long the battery lasts but we were able to clean our entire first floor with just one charge and it seems like it would have been able to handle the second floor as well, totalling about 3,000 sq ft but I am not sure it would considering that the second floor is mostly carpet and not hardwood, tiles, rugs and a small carpet area on the first floor. It feels more plasticky (sorry if that's not a real word) than I wished for but it may be durable and that's what makes it so light. Battery is removable and can be charged either in or out of the vaccum cleaner. Your choice. We are very satisfied so far and would easily recommend it. PROS: Powerful suction for such a small device Easy-to-empty bin Extremely light CONS: Plasticky feel Small dirt bin

Prior to my first use with this vacuum, I had never used a cordless vacuum before. Going in, I had some concerns that, one, it would not be powerful enough and two, the battery would further be a limitation. After some time, I can say I was proven wrong and I was pleased not only with its performance, but also the complete package. The Bissell is packaged well, very light and easy to assemble for use. Since it is cordless, you will need to charge the lithium ion battery for roughly 4-5 hours for an initial full charge. Once charged, you should be able to get 30-40 minutes of use before the battery needs to be charged again. Again, going in, I was skeptical of how much power the unit would have. Once fired up, it does have good suction power, and I was taken back how much dirt I was seeing come from my recently cleaned carpet. I can't say it this power holds up over time, but it is there to start. Further, given its light weight, and lack of cord, it is great for steps and some other smaller and tough to get to areas. The debris canister is maybe a little on the small side, but I am able to take care of all the spaces that I need to without issue. It is easy to remove from the unit and can be emptied without getting your hands dirty or making a mess. I found the LED lights were bright and well-positioned, making it easy to see exactly where you were going as well as what needed to be picked up. Also, it seemed to be less noisy than a standard vacuum, which was a pleasant and unexpected benefit. I have had a pretty positive experience with the Air Ram, more or less, in every way. Going forward, I don't really have too many concerns, although I was somewhat disappointed that no hose attachments were included. I get the decision, given the focus on being cordless and lightweight, but it is a little limiting. Also, while it feels solid and well put together, it is essentially all plastic. I do not know what that means for long-term durability, but again, I understand why Bissell took this route. It is just something to think about. My last concern would be how the battery holds up over the years. I simply do not know. Those concerns aside, I am very happy with the vacuum, it meets all my needs and i can not imagine ever wanting to use a corded vacuum again.

A very powerful wireless vacuum. Does a great job and holds a charge for plenty of time. Only knock might be small canister to empty but it's easy to remove and empty. Highly recommended.
