Apps do not work, Sonos 5 sounds better

I was hoping this speaker would make my growing library of HD music (high bit rate FLAC and ALAC) sound great. Unfortunately, it all sounds better on an Sonos 5, and the connectivity of Bluesound is terrible. The app on iOS can never find the player, and the user experience is just horrible. I've given it a couple weeks, but it's going back.

Although there is a steep learning curve to fully grasp the system and apps, I am pleased with the capabilities and sound quality of Bluesound. I really love having my music available to me anywhere in my home via iPhone,iPad, or computer. I also found Bluesound support to be effective.

    Sonos for Audiophiles

I have extensively compared both Sonos' Play 5 speaker and Bluesound's Pulse2 and I can honestly say the Pulse2 has the edge in the following: -Inputs: all of them, you can affix a usb drive directly to the back of the device, utilize toslink, or 3.5mm to connect it to almost anything manually. -Headphone Jack -IR control each device -Bluetooth for extreme situations -35 bit DAC -Pause, skip, play, etc... all manual controls atop the device in a square pattern. The setup is simple and if you have an ounce of intelligence you will find that a consistent connection to the application requires a network capable of supporting the streaming of HI-RES audio. looking at you-gadgetlover... I will say that the App in the Sonos is flawless. An all-in one place to search almost any popular music streaming service available while Bluesound requires a subscription to most HI-Res capable services, like Tidal and HD Tracks. But with all of the other features that the Bluesound offers.... 2TB cd vault, battery pack for the smaller one... Sonos also has the benefit of the home theater aspect with it's sub/soundbar combo and wireless 5.1 so if you are looking to integrate that aspect into your project you are probably better off with Sonos in your home. I think the ball is back in Sonos' court to improve the aesthetics and features of the Play series aside from the recently-released Play5.

High Quality sound but app could be better

I previously owned a pair of Sonos Play 5s (Gen 2). I absolutely loved them but I wanted a boost in sound quality. I bought the BlueSound Pulse 2 in order to achieve this. Let me just say, the sound is truly amazing, however, the Sonos app was significantly better in terms of funcionality. I am willing to look past the funcionality of the app due to the sound that comes out of this speaker. I removed only 1 star for this reason. I feel it important to note that the app is constantly being updated along with the firmware to the speaker. I would say that BlueSound is trying very hard to resolve the issues associated with the app (Both for computers and mobile devices) but they are not quite there yet. Overall, this is a very good speaker and ouperforms the Sonos in terms of sound quality but the app leaves something to be desired.
