I love this phone...me and my husband got these phones and are so happy we went with these ones! The only down side of these phones are the apps that the phone it self comes with. It takes so much of my phone memory that it limits the apps I can get myself...i have maybe 2 and if I wan't to get more i have to make sure they can be on my sd card otherwise my phone says not enough storage space UGH other then that I LOVE this phone..Love the camera quality! I have NEVER dropped a call..Never had my phone Freeze nothing at all....all i need is to throw out the dumb apps its comes with that I DON"T USE and this phone would be perfect!

    Great pre-paid Android.

For boost's first pre paid Android it works great. easy to use. I know people with at&t, verizon and sprint. They are now looking forward to the end of there 2yrs, so they can switch. I hated tuch screen phones before this one. I spent 1 day using the phone on 3g wireless while I used my old phone., to get used to it and kill the batt. The carmea how- ever is weak, pic do look better then you think on a computer though. Glad I bought it. Mad I dropped it in a river 3day latter. Insurance was only $65, I thought I could be paying 100 or more. A buddy of mine barried his Android and its 125 to replace it.

Fantastic Phone At A Reasonable Price

I just upgraded from the Blackberry Curve 8330 to the Samsung Prevail. This phone is very nice, the touchscreen is very responsive and the signal quality is excellent. A huge plus is the Android Market, many more apps than the Blackberry. The pinch and pull feature is great for websites and documents. Pictures and videos look great. It seems like it's much more customizable than a Blackberry, not to mention that the monthly fee through Boost is $10.00 a month cheaper for unlimited. For those having problems with the screen lock while on a call, just hit the unlock button on the top of the phone, then use the slider at the bottom to open up the dialpad. If you read the manual these things are all explained (I did). Not ever had a problem with the phone locking up no matter how many apps I'm running. The only shortfall I can see is that compared to the Blackberry the battery charge isn't superb but you can extend it by using Advabced Task Killer app. LOVE LOVE LOVE this phone.

    Extremely excellent for the bucks

I love the samsung galaxy prevail, it's better then the blackberry curve hands down, as a matter of fact the blackberry can't come close, and with the $50 unlimited plan the galaxy prevails' pays for itself. It runs quicker and faster then the blackberry, I'm so loving this phone especially for the price. I had bought the blackberry curve when it first came out and was somewhat please with it until I started loading a lot of apps on it then it begin to run extremely slow and after awhile the phone went blank, so I call boost mobile about the issues, only to have to wait 2 weeks to get another replacement handset, and after receiving a new blackberry it went out on me again 2 weeks later, I went through this 3 times in all, so the 4th blackberry they sent me I didn't even bother to have it activated, I search they whole city until I was fortunate enough to find one, and was happy I did. It's not the best android out there but it's the best in it's class, and for the price, how can you ask for anything more.... Thank you Boostmobile for listening to your customers and meeting our demands....

THE BEST PHONE AND SERVICE !!! LOVE IT!!!

Our house was in a dead zone, our Verizon and TMobile contract phones and services was horrible!! We would drop calls, not be able to make calls, have to dial the same number over and over again in different parts of the house before a call would finally dial out. We decided to stop paying over $200 a month for smartphones that we couldn't even use in our house and get prepaid. After researching all the prepaid comapanies out there, Boost mobile had the best reviews plus I liked the shrinkage so we went with them. This phone is super fast, faster than our other Androids (my touch 4g and droid). It's amazing!!! We now get service in EVERY part of our house where we couldn't before. This phone does not hesitate to dial and the touch screen keyboard is the easiest and quickest I've had so far. This phone has it all!!! I am soo impressed and will never go back to any other phone or carrier again!!!

I purchased this phone on Saturday, it is Monday evening and I could not be HAPPIER. I am in love with this phone. It is my first Smart Phone and will be swyping from now on. I needed a phone that could help me organize my life in one place and this fits the bill. I was recommending it to total strangers on Sunday. It's great and I am sure there are way more sophisticated tech geeks out there than I am, but if you are looking for your first smart phone then may I suggest this one. I don't think you will be disappointed. I'm NOT. With the Boost $50 dollars a month with Shrinkage plan you can't go wrong. I started looking on line then went to a different store and all they wanted to do was give me a "free" phone with a 2 year contract at $30 dollars more a month, PLEASE. The sales associate at Best Buy was Fantastic. Soooo helpful and very knowledgeable. Didn't try to sell me things I didn't need, he respected me enough to know I knew what I wanted. I really like that.... I will be going back & soon... I will be checking out the whole store on my next visit. The Phone, if you are asking my opinion (if you have read this far, I guess that you are) I say buy one, if you buy it at Best Buy and you don't like it return it within the 30 days, no risk involved.... The store, I say try it you will be pleasantly surprised, I was....

    Great prepaid phone

While certainly not as powerful as many of the android phones available on the market today, the advantages of prepaid are great. Boost with shrinkage (bill goes down when you pay on time for 6 months) is a fantastic value. Lots of apps work on this phone, but sometimes it does lag a bit. My biggest gripe about this phone in the battery life which I believe is a bit below par. All in all, $50 a month for unlimited talk, text, and 3G web on the sprint network and the versatility of android is a great deal.

Can't beat Boost's Unlimited Plan with Shrinkage

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

You can not beat this smartphone's plan. It uses Sprint's 3G network where available and has Android 2.2. If you sign up for Boost's Unlimited Plan with Shrinkage you start out paying $50/mo, and every 6 months you pay on time, your payment shrinks by $5 until you reach $35. So in 18 months, you will only pay $35/mo for a 3G smartphone with unlimited talk, text, web, and data. The phone itself might not be top quality, but it is not bad quality either. I do not see where you will go wrong if you have always wanted a smartphone, but have not been able to afford the phone and plan to go with it before, like me. The Swype takes a little bit to get used to, but once you get it, you can type just as fast if not faster than you would with actual keys. Make sure you always close your applications when you are done with them because if not, the battery will drain fast.

Though I still miss my iPhone, I don't miss a monthly phone bill in excess of $100. I switched to Boost last year and have never looked back. I started with the Incognito then went to the Blackberry. Both were fine for what they were but in key areas they fell short. I was happy to hear that Boost was adding an Android device to their line-up. Though Android is far from perfect, it is light years ahead of the clunky Blackberry OS. I bought the Samsung Galaxy Prevail the other day at Best Buy and I am floored by the quality of the handset and how much of an improvement Android 2.2 is. The handset is slim and lightweight but does not feel cheap or flimsy. It has a soft touch back, tight design and engineering and, though at the entry level of Samsung's Galaxy line, 95% of users will be VERY happy with this phone. Plus, for $50/month unlimited EVERYTHING, it is too good of a deal to pass up.

Amazing Android Phone and Mobile Service!

I really can't say enough good things about this phone and about Boost mobile. I had a Google Nexus One on Tmobile, but when I saw the $35 for unlimited everything, there was no way I could not switch (I was paying almost triple that). The screen is actually pretty nice looking, and the touch screen works perfect. I read some reviews online that it was "sensitive" but that is not the case at all. I don't recommend using the built in Swype keyboard, but rather the Android Keyboard (it's easy to change!). Battery life is great, and 3G service is pretty good. Throughout the MN metro area, I've gotten speedtest.net results of .3 - 1.3MBPS . The "norm" seems to be around .6MBPS. Number-wise, it looks slower than Tmobile (I'd get 2MBPS with them), but in actuality it doesn't really feel any slower.

Love this phone, with some exceptions.

I needed to switch from AT&T pre-paid service to another service because AT&T charges extra for data usage, which is a rip-off. I chose this phone because I liked that it's lightweight and easy to use. Note that Boost is run by Sprint, which does not have as much coverage as AT&T or Verizon. But for me, that's ok. The phone was easy to set up online. Transferring my AT&T number online was simple. This phone is very fast when it comes to using the web, etc. After a week, I haven't had any issues. I also found an app (Easy Phone Tunes Plus) that will allow me to transfer my songs from iTunes onto this Android phone. I was really pleased with that. The phone's touch screen is easy to use. However, the virtual keyboard has taken some getting used to. It would be helpful if the letters, numbers and symbols would magnify when you touch them, like the iPhone keyboard. There may be an app for that too. Although I love the Apple iPhone, I'm not willing to obligate myself to a contract. I can't afford $100+ a month. With Boost, it's a flat $55 a month for unlimited calls, data and text. The camera takes decent pictures, but much better pictures with a helpful app. I upgraded from the included/optional 2GB memory to 8GB. Battery life fluctuates. It all depends on how much I use the phone. Charging time takes a while. I suggest powering the phone off right before a recharge. All in all, I am very pleased with this phone.

My Evo had been acting up recently and I had been contemplating leaving Sprint. I bought this phone at Best Buy for 50% off, YES! It was on sale for $74.99! I couldn't have been happier. I went home, activated it and was able to migrate my number from Sprint to Boost in less than 10 minutes. So far I haven't had any issues with freezing, calls dropping or any of the other issues other users have mentioned. It's much smaller than my Evo, I had to get used to that. Other than that, I'm quite satisfied. It does everthing that my Evo does, it just doesn't have a front facing camera and I am fine with that. Also, it has a neat little feature where it will lock the screen when you are on a call. I love that because my cheeks would always press a button or my fingers would touch something and end a call or some other annoying nonsense. I'm really liking this phone. Money well spent and saved.

Um I have had the phone for about a month and i love it. The screen is just the perfect size for the phone and price, the apps are great, (some apps on the market doesn't work.) The battery life sucks it doesn't last long at all, little freezes here and there nothing to bad, make sure you have a case for the phone or a screen protector. The call quality on the phone is great, even on speaker phone. Camera is also great takes beautiful pictures, no flash or focus, with the phone (its not really needed) still takes nice pictures. The sound ( for music or internet) is also great, no interference, static. The keyboard is a little hard to use a first, than you get used to it. Best feature on the phone. The internet is very easy to use, moves pretty quick for me. Only bad thing about the phone is the battery life, other than that the phone is great.

Has it faults but over all a good phone

The battery could last longer, but I find if I go into task manager and click ram press level 2 (when I'm not downloading anything) it closes out all applications and my battery has been lasting all day and then some. I've tried app killers but they seem to drain my battery faster. Phone froze on me once ...I've had it for a month now. Sometimes it won't let me end a call. I can't say I've ever been 100% satisfied with any cell phone I've ever owned. I previously was with At&t for 8 years. My husband is still with them and my boost phone gets better coverage than his....he is waiting for his contract to end to switch to boost as well. I did purchase a case and screen protector..I'd defiantely recommed that first hand. I've also owned a iphone....it compares in alot of ways but it is no IPHONE. I would also purchase a bigger sd card especially if you plan on downloading alot of apps. I don't always have 3g coverage especially on the mississippi coast. But can't complain I wanted something cost efficient and I have it. After 18 months of on time payments my cell bill will be 35 a month. And my phone on cost me 159.99 not bad. Not the best, but great on the pocketbook.

This phone has worked very well and as my first "smart" phone, I am happy. BB employee set it up in 30 minutes and explained some features. Most places cell reception very good with no problems using 3-g as well. GPS good and 99% accurate. Uses battery quite quickly and this is typical of these devices. Get a head set screen protector, case and car charger. I found good selection on amazon.

I purchased the Galaxy prevail with such hesitation but, with the goal to try out my first Android phone. This definitely proved to me much more than my previous experiences with my friend's android phones like the HTC Evo. With their help & the android market, I downloaded all the apps I thought I would need or at least utilize including, Facebook, an I-phone theme, & also downloaded a T9 keyboard just for the ease with typing. With typing though, I used the swipe feature & the talk-to-text feature alot more than I thought, which made my transition painless! However, being that I have been a longtime Blackberry advocate and pro-button to text, my only qualm was that I needed buttons! Just in case of emergency or incidental damage, I can still text, browse the web, etc without any problems. Boost definitely did justice with this introduction to Android nation so now I'm just waiting on the upgrade, best of both worlds. I would say if you want to try it out, go for it! Nothing to lose & so much customizing to gain. Enjoy!

At first I was having problems with storage and space, but once the Rep. from the El Centro branch helped me out the phone started to work Fine!! I am now able to update the applications and was able to add new ones. The only thing is that the battery dies really fast. Other than that I like it very much.

I had bought a LG Optimus M seven months ago when I left expensive contract carrier AT&T to go to Metro PCS. I could not get rid of this fast enough. I wanted to originally go with Boost Mobile but they lacked an Android. With Boost Mobile now offering the Samsung Galaxy Prevail I waited for the best price and jumped on it. This phone is great. I don't have battery issues like I had before with the LG. The 3G service is fast enough for my needs. No dropped calls and overall the service is as good as the AT&T was for me. With the trade in program at Best Buy I was able to buy this phone and come away pretty good money wise. I highly recommend both this phone and Boost Mobile to everyone!

As someone who really just needs a phone and only a few of the other bells and whistles, this phone is perfect! And at only $75, it's just that much better! After initially trying the Transform Ultra, I returned it due to extremely short battery life (dead in 6-7 hours just sitting there, not even activated) and was somewhat wary about smart phone battery life in general. With the Prevail, on a typical day I get about 14-16 hours before needing to recharge (note: I am somewhat manic about managing and shutting down apps) I would have preferred the actual keypad, but I'm 'adjusting' to the android on-screen fairly easily.. Look - 3-4 years ago this was called an iphone and cost hundreds of $$ and another $100/month just for service - at least! With purchase price of $75, and my boost mobile service down to $40/month WITH data, I had no choice but to go 5 stars. If contract free living is for you, then I would highly recommend this phone!

This phone does the job, lacking only a strong camera. About the best available for Boost. The battery would run down quickly at first, but a firmware update litteraly doubled the battery life.
