Customers consistently note the excellent noise cancellation and comfortable fit of the QuietComfort® 20i Headphones (iOS). Many also praise the headphones' sound quality, particularly the bass response. However, some customers find the price to be high and the cord length somewhat short. A few users also point out compatibility limitations with certain devices.

These Bose's are a great option for PC or phone for work and play. The bass is brilliant, not over powering, deep and clear but only in sound cancelling mode. Pretty shallow without sound canceling. Highs are solid and clean. Do not work well in noise cancelling mode in a topless wrangler with the wind pressure and noise - they end up making a "pop" sound. No background hiss at zero volume in the quiet of a room. Can hear people talk when I turn the noise cancelling off. The volume and mute buttons work great with my Galaxies Note 8 and S10+ and works with a needed dongle for the Tab6 usb C port or i phone. Also good sound on the receiver's end I'm told on phone calls. The clip keeps the wires in while I work and takes the pressure off of the earpiece. Good Dbs for my slightly impaired hearing. The battery lasts several days. I'll throw it in the charger every few evenings. They do charge and work in noise cancelling at the same time though you might hear a hum if charging off a computer. The rubbery wire and 90 degree end work well bent along my phone and in the pocket. The shell also is hard and seems pretty durable. And ear-wise, they fit it in great without feeling like they will fall out and don't feel like a tight plug either; and I now have no discomfort after 10 hours but ready to take them out by then. It's hard to go back to my my JBL over-the-ears or Galaxy Buds+ for both sound and comfort and function.

I am a very picky person, especially when it comes to great quality sound. I usually go with Beats, I had to recently replace my UR Beats because they were no longer working. I tried the Powerbeats2 wireless and I was not happy with them at all. After talking to a Best Buy employee she recommended the Bose. I decided to give them a try and WOW these are definitely keepers. The sound is AMAZING and they are sooooooo comfortable. I mainly use them at the GYM and they block out all the noise. I get lost in my music and loose track of time while working out! Buy them you wont regret it and buy the 2year protection plan too! Anything happens to them Best Buy has the best warranties out there, they give you a new pair, no questions asked!

    Excellent noise reduction earbuds

My etymotic headphones that I have had for many years have finally started to break down, probably because I use them as earplugs while mowing the yard, as well as just for general listening. I have an original pair of the Bose Noise Cancelling headphones in the "over the ear" style, but they're a little awkward for use around the yard, so I decided to give their earbud version a try. I have to say I'm impressed. The noise reduction seems to be better with the earbuds than the old original headphones, and the sound-quality is very good. These aren't audiophile/studio quality earbuds (like say a set of Shure SE535's), but, their sound quality is still very good. And I'm going to be using them in a noisy environment anyway, so no need for ultra quality at that point. The NR feature is excellent, almost eerie when you try it in a low-noise environment. I have yet to try it in the yard, but I don't doubt they will be just fine. I used to use my older headphones in airplanes, and they worked just fine. I think I may retire those, and just take these instead. The earbuds are very comfortable, and the little hook mechanism seems to do a very good job of keeping the buds in place. They come with three sizes of cushions to customize the fit. I ended up back on the "Mediums" after trying the other two. Since I'm not using them with a phone, I can't speak (haha) to the microphone quality, but it works well in the "ambient" mode where you can hear some ambient noise as opposed to total noise cancellation. The only thing I can ding it on, besides the price, is that it does have a small box on the line near the mini plug. It's there because that's where the battery, main controls, and I assume, the electronics to run the NR. There's no help for it, you have to put that stuff somewhere. It's not huge, or too heavy, but you will need to tuck it in behind your iPod/phone/device or otherwise strap/pin it down so it doesn't flop around. Overall I'm pleased with the purchase.

For those wanting to go upscale, this tasty morsel has heavier duty wiring and connections, and an excellent battery life before needing recharging. While i was skeptical about the fit, the comfort is unparalleled and they stay put. I've been using my Bose on-ear set less since the sound quality and portability makes them a must have for all situations, including conference calls in comfort. For you travel warriors out there, don't leave home without 'em!

Very Nice earbuds for noisy environments

These earbuds are simply amazing. You put them in, turn them on and the world goes away. All that you are left with is the ringing in your ears. (Too many concerts) Taking calls in a noisy environment is now possible, even easy. I am still in awe whenever I turn them on. They do need to be recharged. The battery pack and electronics are in a heavier box near the plug. There are microphones in each earpiece, making the wire larger than normal, but it is proving to be pretty robust. (I worry about so many small wires in a cable) There is a clip to keep the heavier wires from tugging on your ears, the clip seems robust. I use my electronics gently, even so, these seem to be built to last a while. You are more likely to run out of charge cycles on the battery than break the things with a little care. The battery is rated for 16 hours of listening, and it holds a charge very nicely. The noise canceling is not perfect, you can still pickup sudden noises, faintly, and there is a button to turn it off. They work great on an airplane. The advantage is that you can listen to things at a much lower volume level because you don't have competing sounds to mask your signal. That can save what hearing you have left (concerts). The box comes with three sizes of ear inserts that are well-made and snap solidly to the electronics. The battery is charged with a micro-USB cable, included. There is a soft carry case for the earbuds and charge cable. I ultimately went for the earbuds over the Zik II due to size while traveling. I am happy with them.

    Decent noise canceling earbuds...

For all of the noise canceling earbuds... these are probably some of the best. I really like the option to turn off the noise canceling and they are still functional earbuds. However, as Bose noise canceling products go... I at some point have owned or still own the QC1, QC2, QC3 and QC15... and if earbuds are not a requirement any of those are far superior noise cancelers. As far as Bose earbuds go... I recently replaced the Bose iME2 (cord frayed at the ear bud after many years of heavy useage/travel. Usage including using them in my motorcycle helmet. Sound quality in the QC20 doesn't seem as good... but since I don't have a working pair to compare to I cannot be 100% sure. As a noise canceling phone earbud/headset... not super happy with it. It is actually disorientating/uncomfortable to use has hands free because of how you hear yourself. Hard to explain, but I don't have that experience with the QC2, QC3, or QC15 when I use them to talk on the phone/skype/etc. I think the best way to describe it is like it is trying to cancel out the sound of yourself where the others may not. However, turn off the noise canceling and it works nearly as good as the iME2 or any other handsfree earbuds. As comfort goes... they are still more comfortable than most earbuds I have used. They stay in my hears. And nearly as comfortable as the iME2... but they stick out a little further so you will notice if you wear them under a helmet, beanie, etc. Battery lasted 2+ hr flight and the proceeding 3+ hr bus ride up the mountain. To be fair... they were not on 100% of the time so I can't definitively tell you if they lived up to or beyond their specified time. I will be using them on a 14hr+ flight shortly... if I can update this with that info I will. As a side note... and really the same as anything else like this... but very easy for forget that you left it on and find it flat dead the next time you go to use it.

I have owned almost every version of the Bose QuietComfort headphones. Even compared to the most recent version, the QC15, the new QC20 is absolutely the best! The noise cancellation has been taken to another level... it blocks out even more noise than the QC15. The QC20 will also play if the battery is dead, which none of the previous QC headphones would do. I also prefer the in-ear style of the QC20 instead of the big clunky over the head style of the older QC headphones. The older style was comfortable, but if worn for long periods of time would make your head warm due to the foam used. I have been impressed with the battery life on the QC20 as well... I am getting close to the 16 hours Bose claims. Plus, it recharges over a standard micro-USB cable! Thank you, Bose for not making a proprietary charging cable!!! I'd like the carrying case to be a little nicer, considering the price. It is just a neoprene pouch. Something that held the pieces in place and wound the cord would be nicer for this much money. This is a pretty small complaint, though. Speaking of money, yes these are expensive. They are the same price as all the prior versions of the QC headphones, so I'm not really complaining. After a few months, you may be able to pick up a refurbished version somewhere if you want to save a few bucks. I find the StayHear+ system Bose uses to be very comfortable and stable. I was able to get a good seal and they fit great for me. Three suggestions for the next version of this product: 1. Wireless - Bluetooth would be great!! 2. Sweatproof - please coat these using one of the new water/sweatproof nano-coatings 3. A better carrying case

I work in open office environments and bought this to help keep out the noise while working. I can work at home next to a partially full server rack (complete with a noisy switch) and with them on I forget it's even there. In an office setting I can usually forget I'm in an open office when working and usually have to have my shoulder tapped to realize someone is trying to talk to me. I almost went with the over-the-ear version of the noise canceling head phones but decided to go with these for ease of portability. Also, while the ear buds last ~16 hours vs. the 35 hours for the over-the-ear version, these come with a usb port for charging so I can plug them into my laptop and keep working.

The Bose rep in the store said they are as good as over-the ear noise canceling headphones. I didn't believe him but I thought I'd try them and probably return them. But he was right. They are fantastic. I use them to watch movies on my iPad at the gym. I don't hear the noise of the treadmill or elliptical, other people's chatter, or the TVs that others are watching. I've also used them on an airplane and they are much more comfortable than headphones. Nice design to stay slightly in your ears without having to go all the way into your ears. Not having to carry a large case with big headphones is also a real plus.

I bought these to take the place of a set of Bose, over-the-ear, noise canceling headphones. I travel frequently and enjoy the quietness that this type of headphones provide. These, in-the-ear headphones, are lighter and take up less space in my bag than the other pair. They do just as good of a job at reducing the noise and fit comfortably for long (8+ hour) flights and the sound quality is excellent. I noticed that some people have mentioned that the battery life didn't last as long as they expected and that there was a hum, but I did not experience any trouble with either of those issues. I'm very happy with them and recommend them to others.

Surpasses what I thought was possible for ear buds

I had tried the on-ear Bose noise cancelling headphones years ago, but prefer the lower profile of ear buds. And I tried versions from other manufacturers even within the last few months. It seemed to be nothing but hype. I received some money for Christmas, and chipped in the rest to 'splurge' on the Bose 20i's. Got them home from Best Buy, plugged them in and flipped the switch to 'on'. In the next two seconds, the rest of the world faded away (acoustically speaking, that is). Noise around me that I had become accustomed to was suddenly gone. So I looked for a bigger challenge. I went to the basement and started the treadmill. Again, when I set them to the 'on' position, all of those loud, annoying noises just disappeared. I could actually hear the sound from the television. AND... even more amazing is that these ear buds don't even go into the ear canal, but just sit outside the ear canal held lightly but firmly in place by the silicon 'wings'. No slipping, no irritation, no constant putting them back in place. This ability to create an acoustic silence chamber would be worth the price alone, but the sound is also exactly what I expected from the name 'Bose'. Now, keep in mind I have ears born in the 1950s, but to me, the sound is spot on. So great sound coupled with a must-be-experienced noise canceling experience add up to the perfect ear buds. Glad I waited for Bose to get it so right.

Call it overkill. My wife did… I got the Bose QuietComfort 20 Headphones (Android) to use with my Xbox. Over the years, I’ve used wired and wireless headsets from Astro, Turtle Beach and HyperX. They were all the standard over-ear cans. I got tired of the headset-head (you know that ear-to-ear dent in the hair) and blazing hot ears after gaming for any length of time while wearing an over-the-ear headset. I’ve read that the Apple version of these headphones doesn’t work with in-game voice chat and that the headphone jack pinout is different for Apple vs. Android, so I was sure to get the Android-spec product. They plug right into the controller and just work. Getting to the point, the Bose QuietComfort 20 are very comfortable and sound great. The (excellent) noise cancelling can be turned on and off with an inline switch, but it’s been my observation that, in addition to reducing outside sound intrusion, it also boosts in-game sound. Everything just sounds better. I mostly play multiplayer shooters, and I really appreciate the directionality and perceived sense of distance to a sound (i.e., how far away was that footstep/gunshot). I’ve tried both the Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos surround sound options offered on Xbox and prefer Dolby’s effect. I’m told that the mic sounds fine. Bose StayHear headphone tips: I’m keeping these because they are easily the most comfortable in-ear headphones I’ve used. Seriously, they’re all-day comfortable. I have some wired earbuds from JVC and Sony and gave them a try. While they sounded okay, the snug in-ear canal design of the silicone tips became uncomfortable. The Bose StayHear tips are made from a super soft silicone and have a cone shape that rests comfortably against the ear canal opening, as opposed to in it, and does a good job of passive noise reduction which only improves when noise cancelling is turned on. The active noise cancelling is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. It charges in about an hour via USB and lasts for hours of use. It can be used while charging. To preserve battery life, the circuit can be turned off while not in use. I tried a couple of Bluetooth transmitters with my true wireless earbuds (Samsung and Bose), but it introduced an unacceptable audio lag, so wired it is. As a bonus, the QC20s also sound terrific with my phone whether in a call or listening to music.

Amazing upgrade from the older mie2i version

I previously owned a pair of bose mie2i for the iphone which is like a 'normal' version of the quietcomfort sans the noise cancelling. The mie2i was a terrific pair of headphones and I used them for two years without any issues worth mentioning. Recently those headphones broke and I decided to go to Best Buy to get the exact same model. I saw they now have a regular version and a sport version then the quiet comfort and I said why not... Anyways, what an AMAZING difference the quietcomfort is. There are two modes, with and without the noise cancelling. The noise cancelling needs to be manually turned on which blocks out even loud train noise that any commuter is familiar with and other things like howling wind BUT does not prevent you from hearing people if they are speaking loud enough. When you do not have the noise cancelling on it still filters out excess sound in a way that the mie2i never could match. One other thing is that the noise cancelling device requires charging but this is very minor and I only have to do it once every few days and that for not very long. You need to be mindful of where the cancelling device is as I can see snagging it and damaging the cord if you are not careful but I find that it grips fairly well to my case (the otterbox) and the extra cord length accommodates this perfectly. I highly recommend this to any one out there who values sound but doesn't want to have over-the-ear headphones which are quite bulky (in my opinion ). Do not let the cost deter you as the investment is worth the reward.

I picked these up before a long overseas flight. I have used isolating earbuds in the past but have not used active noise reduction. I prefer earbuds over headphone because of their portability and comfort. I had tried the Bose over the ear noise cancelling headphones in the store before but the size was just too large to bring on a long flight. Not to mention the cost and the fact that without batteries, they were non functional but the noise cancelling was amazing. When I saw the ad about the new sound isolating ear buds, I saw that they had removed all the mechanical and technical obstacles (although the price is still a bit steep). I had to try them. The iPhone/iPod microphone and remote control were like icing on the cake and work perfectly, as does the button that allows you to hear outside sounds when pressed. They also work pretty well without a charge (noise reduction is off of course) so in a pinch, they can still offer some usability. The sound with noise reduction active is very good; I think better than the first generation Bose in-ear phones which I have. Better high end and midrange although the bass is good in both sets. I have shared them with others and all have been impressed. If you can afford these babies, there is no reason to hesitate. Get yourself some Reward points! PS - note about the cord length. The overall cord length is fine. It's just the short stretch from the electronics module to the source that is small. In other words, if the electronic module were just a bit farther from the end, it could help in some cases.

Overall very good for frequent travelers. Sound quality is typical Bose, OK but not for the audiophile, but also typical of Bose is that they are comfortable and have top notch noise cancelling. The in-ears are a lot easier to throw into a backpack or briefcase than full size cans when space is at a premium. For those of us that spend way too much time on planes, it's a trade-off well worth considering since even the best phones are worthless on long trips if you can't wear them for more than an hour at a time, or you can't fit them in your baggage.

These headphones are amazing. Sometimes you forget the difference they make in the middle of the flight... then just turn them off for a second and you'll be reminded how huge the difference is to fly with and without them. I didn't want to carry around the large over or on ear ones, so I got these; they seem to be just as good in reducing noise and they are comfortable. And so easy to carry. Highly recommended.

Bought these due to the noise level at work, and also to work with my Galaxy phone as I need it. The reduction in noise is very noticeable for me in the office (cuts out people who don't use their inside voices on conference calls), and works well for music. Am going to test it further on a plane next biz trip. Very comfortable in ears (an issue for me with other ear buds) and controls are pretty simple to use. Pricey, but you're getting what you pay for with this product!

I have a pair of Klipsch Noise canceling headphones (over the ear). The sound is great, but i found them uncomfortable to wear for the 12 - 14 hour flights to Asia, which is the main reason I have them in the first place. The bulky size of a full over the ear noise canceling headphone is a disadvantage when trying to travel light. I was looking for a more comfortable noise canceling headphone - primarily to use for lengthy flights. Upon doing some research, I saw several comments that the Bose noise canceling ear buds were exceptional with noise canceling and extremely comfortable. I bought the Bose - QuietComfort 20i just prior to a trip to Japan. I was completely satisfied with the excellent noise canceling performance and comfort of these ear buds. I find I am actually using them on a daily basis which I was not planning on. The small size (compared to a full size over the ear noise canceling headphone) makes it easy for me to have them stashed in my computer bag and have with me at all times. In a studio environment with no ambient noise, I am sure there are several products available with exceptional sound quality at a lower price point. In the real world, the noise canceling feature of this product allows one to discern details in music at a much lower volume level than with traditional ear buds. I key benefit in my book. Not an inexpensive product, but worth the price if you a looking for excellent noise canceling in a compact comfortable package.

Love these noise-canceling headset! I have used these now on a number of intercontinental flights, including a number of overnight flights. Used over the ear headphones before, but damaged that pair while sleeping with them. These in-ear headphones are amazingly effective in blocking noise, easy to carry around and wear, and do not interfere with sleep in an airline seat (in so far as sleeping goes under those circumstances).
