Great little speaker!!

The speaker ships with only a partial charge so I had to charge it when I opened it. It includes a USB jack so it can be charged by plugging it into your computer. However, it does not include a block for the USB and it does not include a plug in adapter. Fortunately, I have several chargers so I was able to use my Kindle charger to charge the speaker. It also has NFC pairing - NFC is a technology that enables Bluetooth devices to establish wireless communication with each other by simply touching the devices together. I tried that with my t.v. and it worked perfectly.
The setup was so simple and easy that it took almost no time at all. The box doesn't include a very good instruction guide, and the safety guide was impossible for me to read because the font is very small. So, I looked for a guide online and was fortunate enough to find easy instructions to pair the speaker with my phone and computer. I also found a video that demonstrated how to pair it with my Firestick. Pretty embarrassing to say the least. The 7-year old boy in the video gave very clear and easy instructions. I should have been able to do it without help. When I saw the video I realized that all I needed to do was turn on the t.v. - Go to settings, Controllers & Bluetooth Devices, Other Bluetooth devices and choose Pair, unpair and manage other Bluetooth devices.
The speaker has voice prompts to assist with pairing. The prompts clearly tell you what device the speaker is paired to (LG phone etc) and also what the battery level is. But if you don't want the voice prompt it can be disabled. Bose also has a free app you can download to your phone or device to control the speaker and switch between devices connected to the Bose SoundLink II. I chose not to use the app because I have no space on my phone for more apps. There is also a USB jack to plug in devices that might not have Bluetooth capability. It's listed as being able to keep track of 8 devices. Also, the speaker remembers multiple audio sources, so you can switch back and forth between a phone, a computer, etc
You can also use the SoundLink as a speakerphone to make and receive calls. When you receive a call the voice prompts announces it and you can easily answer your phone with no loss of connection. There's a built-in microphone so you can answer calls without having to pick your phone up. When you end the call the speaker will automatically begin playing music again.
The speaker is available in multiple colors - Soft Black, Polar White, Coral Red and Aquatic Blue. I got the the black speaker, but if I decided to purchase another one I would get the blue. Reviews say that it's actually turquoise which I would love.
The covering is a durable soft-touch silicone exterior. It feels good to hold it and it seems like a well made and sturdy product.
It is very lightweight and portable ( 5.16" H x 5" W x 2.19" Deep and 1.2 lbs) so you can easily bring it just about anywhere. If you like to move around a lot or listen to music or news outside, this speaker is great for that. The product features state that it can connect wirelessly from up to 30' away. I found that to be true. I put the speaker in my bedroom doorway while I was painting my kitchen two rooms away and the sound was great- loud and very clear.
The Bose speaker is water resistant, meaning it won't affect it if you get a few drops of water on it. From the manufacturer- "IPX4-rated water resistance, and durability tested against water sprayed in all directions for 5 minutes straight." However, it is not waterproof or immersible/submersible so it can't be used in water and it can't be totally submerged in water.
All the buttons - Power, Bluetooth indicator, volume, language selector and Multi-function- are on the top for easy access and the charging port/headphone jack are on the sides. The only issue I had was that the buttons are very hard to see. They're either white or a very light gray and they blend in so much with the black background that they're almost not visible.
Battery life is suppose to be about 8 hours. I used it for seven with no problem.
The speaker costs about $129.95 and it comes with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty but you can also purchase additional coverage. It does not include a carrying case but you can purchase one for $24.99.
Most importantly, the speaker sounds fantastic, much better than I expected from such a small speaker. The quality of the sound is very good. The sound is full, rich and clear and the volume is surprisingly loud.

This Bose speaker should satisfy anyone who is familiar with Bose products and their high quality in sound and material. Convienent to take with you everywhere you need your sound to be and appears to be able to take a beating due to its rugged feel. There are some things I didn't like about this product which I will discuss in a moment but my complaints are not a deal breaker and I would definetly buy this product again. My wife and I are fans of the Bose brand and own many Bose branded products from a soundbar to headphones. We chose to get this speaker because during the summer months we spend a lot of time outdoors grilling and watching our outdoor entertainment system. We thought this product would compliment our outdoor activities.
Unboxing this speaker was straightforward. The box contained the speaker, a USB cord, and directions on how to set up and use. What is annoying is that as you read through the instructions you find out that you need a wall charger (which is not included) if you want to power or recharge this speaker. If you don't have an wall outlet that has the USB port, a wall charger that has a USB port in it, or a power strip with USB ports (I happen to have all three), then you will disappointed as you will to go out and buy one. For the price that you pay for this product, $129.99, you would expect that they would include everything that is needed right out of the box to be operational. While this is not a deal breaker for me, is was annoying.
The look and feel of this speaker is great. This little speaker has a nice shape and size and the material on the outside feels military grade. I didn't take a hammer to it but it definitely feels like you could take one to it without damaging it. I was impressed. You can toss this powerful little speaker across the room and not worry if it hits the floor or ground that the speaker will get damaged with confidence. Bose really got that right with this product. My only complaint is that the material they used to make it rugged (a rubber type material) makes it a magnet for dust, dirt, cat hair, and all other forms of detritus. I can only guess that the reason it collects and holds on to dirt, hair, etc. is the rubber is probably generating a small static electric charge every time you pick it up. Cleaning the debri off of this speaker is annoying because it doesn't want to easily come off, but it does come off. The
instructions for the care of this speaker lets you know that you need to use a damp cloth to clean it but to be careful not to get any liquid in any of the speaker holes. That was a little surprising to read because the pictures that Bose has on its website showcasing this product shows that it has all kinds of water on it making you believe this speaker must be waterproof. It's not. As read you find out it's Water Resistent. With this speaker loving to attract my cats hair and the the fact it wasn't waterproof, still not a deal breaker, but, again, just annoying considering other comparable wireless speakers on the market in the same price range are waterproof.
Playing your music or listening to videos, movies, YouTube, etc. through the speaker is easy. You are instructed to download the Bose Connect app from the App Store and to go from there. I used my iPhone 7 to connect without issue. Once you download the app, it easily finds your speaker and updates it. After that, open up any app you use to play music or watch videos and you will be in for a treat and blown away by how rich and full the sound is coming from this little speaker. This speaker has great bass range and the highs are very pleasant. You aren't able to control any sound output like treble and bass through the app but you could do that through another app I'm sure but it doesn't seem necessary. Bose knows their product and they do sound extremely well. They never seem to disappoint in this area.
So, overall, should you buy this speaker? Absolutely. I liked it so much I ended up buying their higher priced speaker the Revolve + and was blown away even more with that one but that's a different review. If you are asking yourself of this speaker is worth the money, it is. You won't be disappointed. If you can afford their more expensive wireless speakers, skip this one and get the other. Whatever your budget, you won't be disappointed.

Wow. This speaker is probably one of the best deals out there in sound. I got this speaker expecting somewhat ok sound. When I first listened to it at home, I knew I was in for a treat. The fullness of the sound transcends the capabilities of any speaker I have heard to date. This speaker is so small, so portable, yet it packs a powerful, precise, and pristine punch. I love the clarity and control of the highs and mids and the tight bass is what impressed me the most. Put that sucker in a corner and you have a full sound system! The sound that comes out of this is second to none. Bose really stepped their game up with this version. I am fully impressed by the Soundlink Color II. I like that you can make two phones to it. The multifunction button is also convenient. I use it to pick up and hang up phone calls. The speaker is so small, that when I am in leisure mode, I carry it along with my phone anywhere I go in the house. It sounds even better through an and connection. Outside it sounds wonderful, and sometimes I lay it down right side up to have an omnidirectional setup. Such a versatile speaker. If you're unsure whether to get this or not do not hesitate to get this. It's everything I need and more.

Pros:
+ Light weight, highly portable
+ Stylish speaker that stands out from a crowd
+ Upright design projects sound
+ Rugged design. Sturdy construction and design.
+ Splash resistant
+ Speakerphone functionality
+ Good (but not great) bass
+ Sound is clear for its size
+ No distortion at maximum volume
+ Rubberized buttons make it easy to operate by feel
+ Bose app for smartphone makes operation even easier
+ Rubberized grip
+ Headphone jack!
+ mini-USB charging means I don't have to use proprietary charges
+ Easy bluetooth pairing
+ Solid build quality
+ Bose name
Cons:
- Mono speaker, so there is no stereo separation
- Expensive compared to other less feature-rich speakers
- Estimated battery life is short, but is similar to others in its class
- No docking station
- Cryptic buttons on speaker. Needed to read instructions.
Conclusion:
The Bose Soundlink Color II is an great speaker for times where light splashes of water might be involved. I loved using it by the pool and during a BBQ. I also use it daily while washing dishes and am not afraid to get it a little wet.
Stereo separation is non-existent given that this is a mono-speaker, but it plays loudly and clearly with relatively deep bass for its class. The soundlink color II is a great rugged blue tooth speaker that is both conservatively stylish and well-built.
Recommendation: BUY

Tiny but mind blowing performance

This is one amazing product for smaller area and Bose never disappoints me with its engineering. Our favorite part was to take it with us on a picnic or listen to it in backyard. We spend much time in backyard and love to do planting and garden work and having this tiny bomb was amazing. Perfect sound, very clear and crisp music. These are some of the few quality we love about.
What I like: 1. Design. Its a good design and very easy to hold and feels good with silicon cover on it. Non slip and not very bulky to work with, 2. Sound quality: As I said earlier, this is one of the great blue-tooth speakers with great sound quality with crisp and clarity. We used it in kitchen, backyard, bedroom, attic, bonus room, in picnic spot and never had problem with sound quality. No distortion. 3. Connectivity: Great connectivity for multiple devices. Listen to music from any phone seamlessly and more control when using Bose Connect app. 4. Call feature: Loved the call feature. Communication made easy when I used call feature and I dont have to hold anything in hand and very clear sound received and delivered. 5. Battery: They say it will run for 8 hours in one charge and they are right. I have charged many times but always lasted more than 8 hours for me.
Possible Improvements: 1. There is great disturbance when in kitchen and microwave is turned on. I am not sure if its like that with every speaker but with this one it was very clear that microwave was messing up the sound quality. 2 I would prefer it to have some voice commands so it will be easy to use it when phones not around. Overall a great product.
Conclusion, Yes, I would recommend this to all my friends. This product is very easy to use and no setup required. Charge it and works great. Great for smaller area and fun for picnic. I would definitely buy more and give it as gift to friends and family.

Great little portable speaker!

When I first received this speaker I couldn't figure out that I needed an extra adapter to plug it in with. After that-it was a pretty easy process to set up. The sound is amazing in all bose products but the fact that speaker is water resistant makes it easier to leave outside overnight or take it with me to the pool area. I take this speaker with me everywhere. It's super easy to just throw in your purse and take it to the beach, the park anywhere you want to relax and listen to nice sounds. I've owned other portable speakers and this one is pretty much top 3! The charge itself doesn't take all that long to do, but it lasts a while. I charge it about once a week, with being able to listen/rock out to it for about 4-8 hours daily! The amount of time I use it im surprised that I don't have to charge it more often, but this is a winning quality with me. I don't like not being able to turn it off manually from the bose app-only disconnect. Then after some time the unit itself turns off. Which I don't like. The settings are really easy to control. Sound is excellent. The bass is a little off-but due to the size of the speaker, I'm pretty impressed. They might not have all the settings you'd like on the app, but whatever device you have should be able to change certain sound settings. The buttons are smooth and the unit itself is sleek and soft. I love the feel of it. It's super lightweight and yet packs a punch! I love the range of it also! I could leave my phone in the house and yet still control it from the speaker itself. Such a wonderful feature. Especially when you're outside doing laps and don't use a watch or clock. It's been a great experience reviewing this item!

BOSE ... speaks for itself. I bought this for my vacation trip to Mexico. It was the best companion, in the room, on the beach, and everywhere we went. My wife and I (and our kids) love music - anywhere we go! We loved the fact that it is slim, and light. Very easy to take with carryon luggage, and just about anywhere, since it is slim. It even fits well into my wife's purse :). It is water-resistant. It was raining and we just wiped the drizzles off of it and that's it. Of course, you cannot dump this into the water lol. But the sound is great. The bass is good (i wanted a bit more of course but for this small device it has enough!). The sound is directional, of course. NO issue for me but, if you want that 360 type of sound, you need another model, which is of course more expensive. This one was just what we needed. I also love that it has AUX input. I was able to play music via Bluetooth and via an older iPod, through audio aux cable (very good when there is no reception to play from the phone, or you want to save phone's battery life for phone calls, etc). I love the blue color as well since it matched our fantastic Cancun vacation theme :)
One thing to keep in mind - it only comes with a USB to USB mini cable. NO charging block. You have to get one yourself. I had purchased plenty of them for my gadgets, so, I did not suffer there lol. But, keep that in mind.
The price was good, as I got it on sale for $80.
Set up was easy enough since I am a bit of a techy but I am sure it would be easy for just about anyone.
Totally recommend this speaker though!

The Bose Color SoundLink speaker is a good size for a wireless portable speaker. It easily fits in a tote bag for traveling, & doesn't take up space on a shelf or counter. A charging cord comes with it; I've charged it once (out of the box) & it's still at medium battery after a couple of hours of use. It was very easy to pair with both of our phones (i.e. up to 2 Bluetooth devices may pair to it). Voice promts tell you which device is syncing to it; it announces phone calls & makes it easy to have a conversation while paired. The music automatically restarts after ending the call. The sound is awesome at all ranges, & the bass is great given the size of this speaker. Hubby loves it.....it was my gift to him for his birthday, but I paired my phone to it as well!

I have been looking for a portable wireless speaker for picnic, short hike or outdoor functions and got an opportunity to try it the SoundLInk Color II before buying it. At first sight, it’s cheap looking with the black rubber skin, but do not let looks fool you. I am surprise that Bose did not include a power adapter for it and I had to look for a spare one to plug the included USB cable. The first charge took about 2-3 hours for it to be fully charged. I did not even bother reading the pairing instruction since it’s literally one button to pair with my Galaxy S7. I played some Ed Sheeran songs to test it out and wow the quality is MUCH better than I anticipated. The guitar is focused, the vocal is clear and sharp while the bass is well balanced. I noticed if you put it against the wall, you get more bass out of it because the bass is in the back. I maxed out the volume listening to Hello by Above & Beyond and not once did I hear any popping/crackle coming from the speaker.
True to its statement that the speaker is splash proof, I had it next to my sink and “accidentally” sprayed some water on it, but the speaker is still functioning just fine. I have read that a lot of people complain about the battery life, but it’s a wireless speaker so just prepare to charge it when you are planning to take it on a long trip. I had it out literally the whole day at a picnic and got lot of compliments from my friends. Would I buy this for $130? Why not, I have spent more than that on a headset and this bluetooth speaker with quality sound would be a great addition.

The Bose soundlink color II speaker was easy to pair with my smartphone. Definitely easy to travel with and takes up practically no space at all. The sound quality is phenomenal. I was surprised the amount of base and clarity that exploded from the soundlink as I played my music. Definitely, taking this along with me Everywhere I go. I’m very pleased with this product and would not hesitate to recommend this to a friend.

I like this speaker! I think it provides adequate volume (loud enough) and a rich sound quality. Battery life is good and it charges quickly. The portability is awesome and my iPhone seems to use less battery power to connect to Bluetooth devices (like this) than by using the internal iPhone speakers, which sounds pretty poor in comparison. Note, however, spoken words may be more clearly understood with the internal speakers or earbuds than with these. That may be determined by the recording quality more so than the speaker. For music, Bose wins!

This is really a neat Bluetooth speaker, and the sound, WOW, hard to believe this much clear, loud, sound can come from such a small speaker, but then again it’s a Bose.
When I got this in I was hesitant about how good it will sound, we have a few Bluetooth portable speakers lying around and those weren’t very impressive, “this one is”. After plugging it in to charge and linking it to my laptop, which was very simple. I was surprised to hear a voice announcement with guidance how to link the speaker, made it very simple to connect to. I tried some music and happen to be watching a video when my wife came in and heard it, she was completely amazed how good it sounded and how deep of base it produced.
She had to try it with her laptop, for being a top end model its speakers “SUCK’, it may be super thin and lite but the sound is not impressive. She was blown away with how good this sounded, “probably the last time I see it “ . I have to admit for the size, when I first saw it I was skeptical, but now I’m not.
I have some hearing problems and anything with small speakers I just can’t hear, everything sounds pretty much garbled. I really need good speakers to be able to hear properly especially in the lower ends, and most small speakers cannot produce good low end sound. With these I could hear most everything perfectly, very clear, loud and the big plus was I didn’t need to max the volume to be able to understand everything, “this thing gets really loud.
The speaker comes with a USP cable but no power adapter, you’ll have to use your phone adapter or plug it into a powered USB port to charge. We have plenty of chargers lying around so that’s not a problem. This speaker also has a silicone type outer covering and it’s supposed to be water resistant. I didn’t try that aspect out but if we do I’ll let everyone know.
An excellent product from Bose, and I’ll update more if there are any changes from what I found. Put this high on your shopping list if you are looking for an excellent Bluetooth portable speaker.

This is the third Bose Soundlink color speaker that I have purchased and their is a good reason for that,,,,,they sound great!!!!!!!!!!!
The sound that you get out of this little speaker is amazing. Crisp highs and deep bass with enough volume to fill a large room. The midrange for vocals, and talk radio is clear and detailed. One hint..for best bass response you just place the speaker about 6" in front of a wall or any flat surface and the bass response sounds like a 6" subwoofer.
The soundlink color is small and rugged enough to throw in a back pack and has great battery life so you don't need to worry about finding an outlet. The last two that I purchased were for gifts and it is truly the gift that keeps on giving. Thank you Bose for a great piece of technology!

Great sound for size, quality sound as expected from Bose. Nice aqua color. Easy to carry around and smooth to the touch. Top of speaker has power, bluetooth, plus and minus volume buttons with small icons. There are 2 more buttons that I haven't used. When you press some buttons there's a light that comes on. Great Bose sound. I’ve had my speaker for about a year now and I’ve enjoyed the ease of portability. A full charge allows hours of music. I love taking my speaker to the beach so I can sit, relax, and listen to whatever my heart desires. Superb Quality and well made.
