I recently bought a new Samsung picture frame tv and my previous soundbar was not compatible. Although the sound from the tv was ok, it just wasn't enough. I came across this soundbar at my local electronics store and my my wife loved it. That was enough for me. When i got it all hooked up, I too was impressed by the sound. Sound and imaging was a big improvement over the Yamaha I had hooked up prior (SRT-1000). Installation was easy. Although not needed,I will be adding the matching Acoustimass 300 subwoofer. I only gave 4 stars because nothing is ever perfect, there is always room for improvement. This unit is close and I am very happy with my purchase.

This is an excellent sound bar that outputs exquisite sound, in addition to being elegant. If you purchase the additional rear speakers you'll enjoy the complete theater surround sound. I would recommend this purchase.

I purchased the SoundTouch 300 after many hours of research. I don’t understand the negative reviews. I’ve had the soundbar now for over a week and have nothing negative to say. The setup process was quite interesting using the calibration process for the acoustics of my tv room. I enjoy the movies better now that I’m able to hear the dialogue better. The Bose app for the WiFi feature is great for just listening to music, the selection of music genres is extensive.

Love the sound bar! It can be a bit tricky to set up at first but once set up the TV automatically switches to the "external audio" and I also love the fact that I can connect to it through my phone and play my music on it. Bose does not disappoint.

I've always known Bose is a good brand. When I brought it home and tried it, I couldn't believe the difference in sound quality it produced compared to my previous sound system. It made my movie nights with my family much more fun.

Great sound from this bar. Not much bass, definitely need the subwoofer to go with it. It bounces sounds off the walls to actually make it sound like a real 5.1 system. Love this speaker bar.

This Bose soundbar has crisp clean sound. It's very loud without the additional bass module and wireless mini speakers. It looks fabulous installed with the floating wall mounts. I plan on purchasing the bass module at a later date, due to the fact the soundbar doesn't produce a lot of bass on its own. The lack of bass was not a deal breaker for me, because I wanted a clean sound quality for movies, not blaring music. The soundbar is built well with a glass top. It is very compact as well, giving it a streamline modern look. Overall Bose did a great job designing this soundbar.

I initially purchased a bose solo 5 soundbar to pair with my new samsung 8series tv. I immediately returned it because the tv speakers were better. I spent more than twice as much for the soundtouch 300 but it's worth every penny. Great connectivity to my tv via hdmi arc and can be operated with my TVs harmony remote. The sound and bass is perfect for my needs. I will likely add the sub to make it even better. Only cons are the ridiculously bulky remote that it comes with and sometimes I need to manually reconnect it to my tv to get sound.

    Deep, crystal clear, multi-layered sound!

Let's start from the most importnat thing - sound! This little sound bar truly delivers an amazingly clear, very deep sound! It does have left, right and back firing speakers, so it fills up the room entirely. You could hear artist standing on the stage just in front of you, every sound of his voice, his breath, then music sounds like it's behind the artist on another layer and yet another layer will be an applause deep behind your TV. It's an amazing listening experience and I would highly recommend that you give this soundbar a try, it would be really hard to pass on it once you experience this deep sound performance. Left and right firing speakers make it sound like you actually have speakers in the corners of your room, back firing speakers create that multi layer effect. Bass level can be easily adjusted by pressing the "BASS" button on the remote and using the Vol+/Vol- keys to adjust. Soundbar also does have a "dialogue" mode that is optimal for listening to the news and other programs with a lot of talking. It's important to setup this soundbar correctly, if you mounting on the wall - get an optional Bose WB-300 accessory. Make sure left and right speakers can "see" the walls of your room, leave al least 1/2" between the back of the soundbar and the wall - that way you'll get an optimal acoustic performance. Connections to the TV - unlike a traditional AV receiver, soundbar depends on your TV being a "hub" for all sources, everything connects to the TV first and then, TV would return the audio signal back to the soundbar using the HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) port (HDMI cable is included). If your TV does not have an HDMI port labeled ARC - you would need to use an optical cable (included). HDMI ARC connection is recommended - that way it's more likely that soundbar would receive not just a stereo input, but a true undecoded Dolby Digital signal. You also need to make sure your TV is capable of returning an original audio stream on the ARC port. If your ARC port is already used - soundbar has an "HDMI IN" port that could be connected to the source device like your Blu-Ray player or cable box. There is also a workaround in case your TV is unable to return an undecoded digital stream to the soundbar - you can connect your source to the "HDMI IN" port and have your soundbar use sound from that port instead of the HDMI ARC port, but that would only work for 1 device you have connected directly to the soundbar. So do some research and make sure your existing equipment is capable of providing a good digital signal for the best experience. Connection to the network - you have Ethernet or WiFi options, Ethernet is the easiest way, but if you don't have a wired connection available - WiFi would be the second choice, you will need either a smartphone with the SoundTouch app installed or a PC/Mac and a micro USB cable. Setting up with the app is very intuitive and only takes a few minutes, however a USB cable setup is available as well if you can't figure it out with an app. Acoustic setup is something that you need to perform once everything else is in place - put the included APAPTiQ headset on and follow the manual, soundbar will prompt you for each step - you will need to move into 5 different "listening positions" in the room so plan ahead. Included remote - is actually a universal remote you could control your TV, Blu-Ray player, cable box (and a soundbar of course)! Setting up the device codes is a simple process and described in the remote's manual. SoundTouch app seems like is not really ready for the soundbar yet, it can't switch the soundbar in the "TV" mode if you used it to stream music, but other settings work just fine. Speaking of music - you can stream Amazon music, Sirius XM, Deezer, iHeartRadio, Pandora and Spotify directly from the app, you could also have your soundbar play from the NAS storage (anything with DLNA support) or you can stream from your iTunes library, but you would need a Bose SoundTouch software running on the same computer your iTunes library is located on. You have 6 "presets" that you can assign to the specific music source and they quickly recall with a press of a single button on the remote. Looks: just gorgeous! Top of the soundbar is covered with a glass and looks stunning. Bose even included a small piece of black cloth so you can keep your soundbar clean. A few negative points: big ones for me is the lack or AirPlay and Apple Music support. Sure you can use Bluetooth streaming, but that is not always a good solution. Soundbar does have a good bass, but considering it's size - separate subwoofer is highly recommended, especially if you planning on watching movies with sound effects. You would need to purchase a Bose Acoustimass 300 subwoofer to work with your Soundbar. I could not find out the way to tell what kind of digital stream soundbar is actually receiving, nothing in the app to tell me that (I mean is it Dolby Digital, DTS, etc) I would like to know what is actually playing. Also - soundbar does not have any on-screen menu, all setup is done via the SoundTouch app which could be frustrating, it's a mystery why didn't Bose create a simple on-screen setup menu so you could use that big TV screen for setting your Soundtouch 300 up. Overall: it's a great option for a bedroom, living room, or any other place where you don't want to put an AV receiver and mess with the speaker wires. Optional subwoofer and a back speakers would allow you to get a true 5.1 setup easily with minimal wiring and virtually no space consumed. However for the dedicated home theater I would still stick with a traditional floor standing speakers and AV receiver. P.S. I would recommend that you download a full version of the manual before setting the soundbar up, it would help to clear a lot of initial questions, there is the link: https://assets.bose.com/content/dam/Bose_DAM/Web/consumer_electronics/global/products/speakers/st_300_product_page/pdf/AM773965_00_OG_ST%20300_ENGvo.pdf Included quick setup guide will get you going, but don't pass on reading the complete one.
