Great speakers. Clarity and brilliance shine through when listening to music. The absolute best by bookshelf speaker sounds much bigger than it is. Recordings and music ver articulate and you can hear each subtlety.

These are excellent speakers. I used to have a pair of Bowers and Wilkins 685 S2s, upgraded to a pair of SVS Ultra bookshelvfs, and then replaced them with the 705 S2s when the 705 S3s forced clearance prices.
I matched the 705 S2s with a MartinLogan 600X down firing 10" sub, and an SVS Soundbase mini receiver. My primary source is Apple Music connected to my iPhone using an RCA to stereo mini jack. I know some folks have complained about the stratospheric treble, but I find that the SVS plays neutral enough that the treble is only an issue at higher volumes than I would normally listen to my music.
They image wonderfully. Have a wide sound stage. And, frankly, I just really enjoy listening to them. Jazz, Classical, classic rock, pop, K-pop, and almost everything I throw at these sounds terrific. In all honesty, my current configuration is rather weak compared to what these speakers could do in a dedicated room. My home office is limited to 8 feet x 12 feet with 8-foot ceilings. I am doing everything wrong with the speakers from an Audiophile perspective. These sit on my desk and flank my monitor. At my distance, they do not require a lot of power to drive. I was a bit nervous about doing this but they are doing wonderful in this configuration. I can listen to these all day long without any issues. Even at low levels, the music is rich and detailed. They are toed in slightly on my desk but not pointing directly at me.
I have played the 705s with the port plugs in and out. I prefer the port plugs in for my room. The sub does a better overall job in my opinion. But, depending on the content, these speakers alone will do the job. The 705s did a great job of integrating with the SVS Soundbase and with the MartinLogan sub.
These piano black speakers are wonderful to look at. They do attract fingerprints and dust though. I find that I have to wipe them down with a soft microfiber block weekly. But, even wet, the microfiber does leave swirl marks in the paint. I had to polish the speakers with Meguire's Ultimate Polish (Lightly polish) and then applied a coat of Meguire's wax to seal them up. This really brought out the shine. Please keep in mind that you do this at your own risk.
Overall, these are fantastic speakers.

Give ‘Em A Try

I picked these bookshelves over the 702 S2 towers for its musicality, tonal balance and mid bass presence. My decision was based off a side by side comparison at the best buy Magnolia demo room. Both speakers were driven by Rotel 1592, fed by Tidal via the salesman’s iphone. The Best Buy branch also had Macintosh integrated amp but I didnt bother with it as I knew B&Ws are tested with Rotels during RnD. I would have tried with Classe Sigma 2200 if they had one.
Upon hooking up to my humble rig (NAD 375 BEE DAC) I knew these 705 S2s are a keeper. They sound bigger than they look, beating most tower speakers in presence and imaging. For the record, i dont use subs in my 2 ch rig, just plain vanilla 2.0.
50+ hours of playtime later, the mids opened up even better, almost sounding like the 800 series. These continuum drivers inherited from the higher series really make a difference. They truly define that signature B&W sound - neutral, balanced, and life-like.
Reviews dont give these 705 S2s justice. Go demo yourself. Don’t get intimidated by the price tag. The Magnolia reps may even give you disount for buying up front.

I recently purchased the Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series 2-way Bookshelf Speakers from Best Buy, and they have completely transformed my listening experience. Despite their compact size, these speakers deliver an audio performance that rivals much larger models.
The design of the 700 Series Bookshelf Speakers is both elegant and modern, fitting seamlessly into my home decor. The build quality is top-notch, reflecting the premium nature of Bowers & Wilkins products. They are sturdy and well-crafted, ensuring they will stand the test of time.
When it comes to sound quality, these speakers are truly remarkable. The clarity and precision across all frequencies are outstanding. The highs are crisp, the mids are detailed, and the bass is surprisingly powerful for bookshelf speakers. Whether I’m listening to music, watching movies, or playing games, the sound is always immersive and engaging. The speakers create a wide soundstage, making it feel like the audio is coming from all around me.
One of the things I appreciate most is how well these speakers handle different genres of music. From classical to rock, jazz to electronic, every note is reproduced with stunning accuracy. The vocals are particularly impressive, with a natural and lifelike quality that makes me feel like the artist is performing right in front of me.
Setting up the Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series Bookshelf Speakers was straightforward, and the team at Best Buy was incredibly helpful, providing excellent customer service and support throughout the process.
In summary, the Bowers & Wilkins 700 Series 2-way Bookshelf Speakers offer an unbeatable combination of compact size, sleek design, and exceptional sound quality. They are a fantastic addition to any audio setup and a worthwhile investment for anyone who values high-fidelity sound. Five stars without a doubt!

Amazing Speakers with Beautiful Sound

This is an amazing speaker, I will say I was disappointed at first, but it was all on my receiver setup. After working through all that, they are incredible. The speaker almost disappears and the detail of all the sounds you can hear is amazing. In addition, the bass these small speakers can put out is incredible. Highly recommended. With the S3 version coming out, these are an incredible deal now, with many reviews saying the S3 is only a minor improvement. For my home theater setups, I coded them as small, but moved the crossover down to 60 hertz and enjoy that much better.
I did get stands for these, as the sound isolation really brings out a cleaner sound (at a minimum do get better feet for them). For my stand I got the Monolith 24 inch ones (has the tweeter at the perfect height for seated positions), I filled them with pool filter sand from local hardware store about 3/4 the way up, did not use the spikes, and then used the half globe sound isolation pads, but did drill two holes on the edges towards the back with rubber gromets in them to connect an M6 bolt into the back screws of the speaker to hold it softly in place.

B&W 705 S2 | Expect Quality!

The Bowers and Wilkins 705 S2s were my first audiophile loudspeakers. I have the pair Bi-Amped and on the 700 series stand connected to my Marantz 7015 AV Receiver. Ive owned them now for a little over a yr and a half and all i can say is the price makes sense. Expensive investment to the average consumer dont get me wrong, but the quality of sound, the build, the aesthetics is all just incredible. Anything i decide to do… watch a movie, show, listen to music, is always just a great time and to me that was the point! I also have the HTM71 center channel, and m1s for rears and ceiling. Any guest who wants to listen to their favorite song, or watch the newest movie, leave with a smile, or are genuinely impressed. The crystal clear sounds on highs/midrange is just top-notch. To the point where im not as impressed with movie theaters audio anymore, it just sounds better at home. No kidding. When you get your own pair im sure you’ll agree. Going back to the highs and midrange, if youre watching a movie, dont expect mind blowing low bass levels. If you want the best of both worlds then grab a nice subwoofer or two, or go for the Floorstanding B&Ws 702 S2s! In conclusion, the experiences have been amazing and have changed my perspective to sound! At this point I can understand an audiophiles reach for better audio equipment and speakers, and have now started truly appreciating a musical artists choice of how they master their music! Hope this little review helped! Wish you all the best! Enjoy!

My B&W 705 S2's are more than I hoped for. With my Parasound A23 power amp and Audio Alchemy pre amp and dac the sound is fantastic. I have an ACI 250 watt powered subwoofer that fills in the bottom end. The 705's really work well with the sub to make the drums and bass sound like the artist is standing in front of me. The tweeters on top of the cabinets are so clean and sweet, I'm hearing parts of songs that I hadn't heard before. My listening room is only about 20' x 15' so these speakers are perfect. I can't crank my amp all the way up... It's too loud, even though there is no distortion. I'm very pleased.

I just purchased these to compare against a pair of KEF LS50 Meta and think that these sound better. I hear better detail and imaging and I feel that sensation that I am listening to something special. I paired these with an old Sony DA3600ES, an Arcam Bluray, and an old apple tv for airplay and I think that this sounds pretty amazing. I picked these up for less than $1100 and I am happy with them.

I bought a pair of these 705 S2s and purchased some speaker stands and left them there for a month or two. I finally got around to listening and thought to myself, these don't sound ANYTHING like the B&W sound. Silly me forgot to break them in. Their placement should be toed in to get the best imaging result

I have Bowers and Wilkins 683 tower speakers , and thought it couldn’t get any better. Until I heard the Bowers and Wilkins 705 S2’s. After reading reviews by Steve Guttenburg The “audiophiliac“ and audio reviewer for CNET. In the review he said “ Spine tingling“ , open, big sound stage! I said I have check these out. Best Buy Magnolia store had the entire 700 series and as soon as I heard the 705’s I immediately heard the difference! They are everything he said and more. The tweeter on top design borrowed from the 800 Diamond series and fast , deep and punchy bass from the new woofer and enclosure really make this speaker a winner!

This is the middle of the product line from B&W. I already had top of the line 805D3. I got this while BestBuy was having it for sale. 705S2 uses the same Continuum cone. It's tweeter is made by carbon, instead of diamond used on 805D3.
By placing this pair and 805D3 side by side, I would rate 705S2 having at least 90 to 95% of the performance compared to its big brother. The treble part is so close, even though the tweeters are different material. The bass is slightly loose compared to 805D3, but still tight enough and making impact. Of course it is not cheap. But while the price 705S2 is only a half of 805D3, and even less compared to 805D4, I think 705S2 is really a great buy!
