These speakers have great sound quality for small and large areas...

the very expensive Sonos system was configured and installed as recommended, but it does not function properly. it does not recognize the first track of CDs ripped to the hard drive and it cuts out frequently. Best Buy service to resolve the problems has been slow and inadequate. the problem persists after 2 weeks.

I went to my closest Magnolia store to audition a pair of B&W 685 S2's The sales associate was busy and I figured out the iPad controller and got the 685's on display up and running. Very nice sound and I could hear why they get such rave reviews. I noticed a table with two piano black speakers on them, looked them over and they said Bowers and Wilkins on the front and CM5 on the back. I asked him what the story was on these and he said a customer ordered them and then returned for a unknown reason. I asked him to hook them up so I could do a A-B comparison. The soundstage on the CM5's is incredible, actually made the 685's sound bad. I ended up buying the CM5's for only $100 more than the 685's and am very happy.

This review is on the B&W CM5 S2 GB. I would say these are a nice pair of speakers, I wouldn't replace them as my front mains or anything but very wide sound stage for the size, detailed accuracy, and the high is very instrumental...almost Martin Logan like but cleaner in opinion. My wife, anti-speaker at that was in awe of a piano in the background of a commercial. Was that in the living room just now? The human voices are life like and some female voices you can't tell the difference. The mids sometimes sound a little reserved but I then I check back in and say, bookshelf. I'm sure the CM6 got it covered. It isn't even "broken in" yet so best is yet to come for me . Reason for 4 stars, 685 S2 are just as good. I think 685 mids has a beefier sound with the highs not as contained but can't justify the price difference. I bought them anyways. I go to BB to pick up CM5 S1 that was suppose to be on hold,..gone, for $650, I bet!...probably pried out of someone hands. Brand new CM5 S2, I won't say price but Crabtree Mangnolia, NC, I appreciate the professionalism.
