For decades, I have had nothing but large toaster ovens. Fact is, now that I am older & kids are grown, I no longer need a ridiculous large toaster oven.
My 5-year-old Cuisinart toaster oven stopped working after 5 years. For $350, I was hoping it could have lasted longer.
Anyway, I replaced it with a smaller new Cuisinart toaster oven, Model TOB-1010, that was purchased 4 years ago for someone who never used it. Excited to have a backup, I dug it out of storage and started to using it. The piece of junk burned everything to a crisp. Something had to be wrong with the thermostat.
When I started to look around for a small toaster oven I didn't expect it to be so difficult. I saw the Black & Decker and Hamilton Beach basic toaster ovens, but I don't like their bottom dial. It gauges the toast shade & another function (I can't recall what it is). To set the shade for your toast, you literally have to turn the dial to the right pass a certain spot, then back to the left, and again to the right for the desire setting. Pretty darn antiquated, if you ask me because it's been like that since the 70s. The other companies are really focusing on the large toaster ovens. They do everything, except clean your house.
I eventually came across this one. I did some reviews online by independent testers and it received really good scores. I'm very happy with my new toaster. It toast 4 slices evenly. Number 4 is a nice medium brown setting. NOTE: The rack has to be in the middle of the toaster oven to properly toast. I love making tater tots in a toaster oven (it's quicker that way). The tots came out almost as good as my regular oven. Both tots and bread crisp really well on the outside and remain soft on the inside. I have yet to try a bagel.
Another thing I really like, is how fast I can get from the toast to bake options. My Cuisinart had too many options. It took forever to jump from point A to point B. Furthermore, the crumb tray is removable from the front. It also has a countdown timer for baking, whereas the Cuisinart Inferno model did not have that. Now, let's see if it can last longer than 5 years.

We use the Breville for toasting bread/bagels and some small quantity oven usage such as pizza, nuggets, pot pies, reheating, etc. The oven consumes minimal counter space and aesthetically, is very pleasing. A flat plug is also an asset when plugging into the electrical outlet.
Functionally, after a short learning curve, the Breville is very flexible and easy to change toasting levels, baking temps and add extra time with a press of a button. There are 3 rack positions for baking, toasting, and broiling. The oven is also easy to clean due to the front pullout crumb tray directly under the oven and easy accessibility to the interior.
My only criticisms are the toasting function and at this price point, an interior light should be added.
We haven’t had the good fortune to create a uniform toasting on both sides of the bread/bagel and that crispness our previous toaster oven achieved. I've tried various techniques to resolve the issue, with increasing/decreasing toasting levels, allowing the bread to sit in the oven for a few minutes to disperse the moisture and making sure the rack is in the toasting position. Also, the wire rack has the spokes facing upward per the recommendation of the owner’s manual. However, it's not a deal breaker when all is said and done. I’d still recommend the Breville Mini Smart oven as it’s a great addition to any kitchen and countertop.

even though i have the large breville ovens ,, when i found this ,, is the perfect size to free up counter space and cook smaller meals .. . primarily broiling and it does it well .. i line the tray with foil and use a smaller grill in the tray .. as you see in my photo . .and clean is real easy ... most frozen pizza are not 12" anymore ,,, but 10" so they fit perfectly too .. frozen fries have cooked well too ... lastly another oven makes cooking several items at same time is convenient ..

I purchased this same Breville model about 5-6 years ago and loved it. Unfortunately, I had move and left it with my daughter. I'm in a furnished apartment temporarily and don't use microwaves. I missed my toaster oven so much, I looked online for another. Was so happy Best Buy still carried the same one! It's just the right size for small counter spaces. It heats up to warm leftovers faster than a conventional oven. The timer alarm sounds a little bit quieter on this one but I like it better. It also seems to take a little longer to toast. The only issue would be the plug, it sticks out quite a bit from the outlet, but otherwise, I'm still very happy with this toaster oven.

I am happy with my purchase. I use this oven almost everyday to toast bread, reheat leftovers, make frozen pizza, fries etc. it works very good.
I read reviews saying the timer is loud but maybe it was loud in older models because mine is not loud at all. 4 stars because top and back get very hot, make sure the power cord is secured in the back cord holders (see picture) so it won’t melt if left touching the back of oven, and don’t place anything that could melt on top. We are all adults so, we are careful. Size is perfect, not too big not too small.

#1 best thing, is it has no clock! OK, not really, but why do most appliances have clocks? The really best thing is it toasts bread and bagels perfectly.
We use ours for toast, bagels, and reheating/cooking small items that come out better in an oven than in a microwave. This does all of that to perfection.
It looks about the same as most toaster ovens, but inside it is bigger. The tray that comes with it is 10x10 (25x25cm) and it'll fit an 11" round pizza tray. Two large slices of pizza fit into the tray for heating. It does an excellent job of heating pizza.
It gets to temperature quickly and keeps that temperature pretty accurately.
One of the complaints in earlier units was the plug, which has changed to a flat plug so if you have wall outlets it won't stand out 4" from the wall.
The photo shows it next to our electric kettle. It's small, but substantial interior.

My new Breville Mini Smart Oven is the perfect addition to my kitchen. I am familiar with Breville quality having purchased a 2-slot toaster 6 months ago. My smart oven is great for reheating, baking, toasting, and broiling. It is a compact super star.

Fantastic. No Really - it is fantastic! I grew fed up with B&D replacing my last toaster oven three times because of door failures and burned plastic smell. Breville had great reviews, but it's even better in person. In one word - Quality. The digital settings and timer are accurate and retail precious settings. There are four heating elements instead of two and I can see they are more precisely made than the B&D. Event the crumb tray is accessible when the door is closed. Finally, my favorite feature is the button that reads 'a bit more' to add a bit more time without a full restart. 3X more than a cheap B&D but well worth every penny

If you do not one of these, you need to order it right now. I have put off having a toaster oven for 30 years because it takes up too much space on the counter. We use it every day and love it.
