This is a black and white or color printer. My company has been using these for years and I finally bought one for my personal use. I wish I'd bought this years ago. And save me so much money in jet cartridges and other printers that I bought had crashed in the very short time. But this seems to be a very reliable machine.

I bought this to replace a Brother All-in-One printer that had provided years of trouble-free service. The old one still worked fine, but I wanted the AirPrint feature to print wirelessly from my iPad and iPhone. Brother printers hold their value so well that the money from the sale of my old printer covered of most the cost of this one. Nice!!
This printer works exactly as expected. Prints easily from all my iDevices, Scans to my computer over the network, and Prints to both sides of paper automatically. Set up was easy, and it joined my wireless network without any issues.
Over the first two weeks, I encountered the 'deep sleep bug', with the printer failing to respond or wake-up once it entered deep-sleep. A firmware update and a couple of restarts later, everything was fine. I strongly recommend you update the firmware before trying to use this printer.
The best feature of this printer is the option to choose a slightly slower print speed in return for much quiter operation. If you don't mind the noise, you can choose the maximum print speed. I found the slower speed fast enough for daily use, and love the quite operation.
Overall, this is one of the best printers you can buy for home-office use.

Did a lot of research and this is the best printer you can buy. Has everything except fax, which is not that important. It is very quiet and easy to use. Still have to setup the wireless, not easy to setup. Great price, great quality.

If you want a good all in one laser B/W this model is good. Easily connected to my wireless and wired network. AirPrint option works well. Scan with the app is good as well. Reasonably priced.

I don't do a lot of printing, so my ink jet carts were drying out after 10 or 12 printing jobs. I decided to go with a laser printer for the reason that I am hoping that the toner will last much longer than ink. So far, I am impressed with speed and quality of the prints and the fantastically easy set-up

I was so tired of the chronic problems with ink jet printers that I figured it would be good to switch to a bw laser printer. Although It doesn't print in color, I really don't miss it. The speed and reliability of this printer is second to none. It also has good color scanning. Setup was somewhat annoying but not too difficult to figure out.

This model is a bit big for a home printer meant only for occasional use, but I'm already very satisfied with the purchase. I was so sick of my inkjet telling me I couldn't print a black and white homework assignment due to the yellow cartridge being empty. This printer was easy to set up and prints pretty quickly. I seem to have some issues with AirPrint, but that may be my not so great internet connection. I'm crossing my fingers that the starter toner lasts me a long while, but even when I do need a replacement, I'll be thrilled to know that I won't be wasting money on something that dries out because I don't use it often enough.

Our family really enjoys being able to print even from other rooms by using their cell phones. It makes great copies, quiet running, and does not take up much space. I am glad we bought it.

Excellent Multi-function Laser Printer

I have tried other brand ink and laser printers, but I really like the reliability and quality print of Brother laser printers. Just want to mention that I will never buy an inkjet printer ever again because the ink is expensive and the ink drys out if you don't use it in on a regular basis. That said, I have had a Brother HL-5140 laser printer since January 2005 and have never had a problem with it other than replacing the toner cartridge a few times. My Brother HL-5140 still works fine, but my wife wanted a multi-function printer for her home office. Naturally, with my great track record with my Brother laser printer, I bought the Brother DCP-L2540DW multi-function laser printer and so far, my wife loves it. The print quality is great for printing, copying and scanning and she likes that she can directly print from her cell phone using the Brother I-Print app. Setting up the Brother printer with my Asus AC1900 router was a little time consuming, but now everything works fine. If the reliability of this Brother DCP-L2540DW comes close to my Brother HL-5140 (over 12 years), then I will be happy camper.

This is a reasonably priced MFC for small office/home use. It is fairly quiet and compact in size. The first one I purchased had a problem with the document feeder; I exchanged it for another one and the second one works fine. This is my fifth Brother printer, been very pleased with their performance.

This unit does it all but the most impressive feature this unit has over my last brother lazer which I gave to someone else is the auto doc feeder. I've fed bundles of 20-35 page statements, it auto feeds them, and sends them to your computer as a single pdf document. Scanning and printing effortless. The brother units also very cheap to run as you get a printouts per toner cartridge. For the money this unit is great

I wanted a laser printer to help make printed circuit boards by using UV-sensitive boards in the transfer of circulit images. Haven't gotten around to using it for that purpose however! This is probably the cheapest, or one of the cheapest models, but I couldn't be more pleased. It is super fast and produces very clear, sharply defined images. All the features are extremely easy to set up and use such as the double-sided option which I use most often. And a hugh paper tray! I can quibble about one thing only---the output tray opening is too small for my large fingers to easily reach into--and that's saying a lot! Try it--you won't be disappointed!

This is a great printer. It only prints black and white, but that's ok. Not much need to print in color at my house. Perfect for kids assignments if they need to print. It's quick, pretty quiet and easy to use.

I bought this after struggling with multiple HP junk products. This item works as advertised. Copies come fast and are perfect. I would highly recommend as a great product if black and white for documents is what you are buying it for.

I got a recommendation from the company that I buy my inkjet cartridges. They said it was the best in my price range for a toner printer. It works great. Plus the scanner feature is perfect and fits my needs perfectly.

I love this printer since I am able to send print jobs from any device (computer, tablet, phone) linked to the home's wifi. It is easy to use. I scanned for the first time and the colored PDF went to my computer wirelessly and effortlessly. It is so easy to use even thought I am technologically challenged. I am so glad I decided to buy this printer. Thank you all who left great reviews! Because of your reviews, I decided to buy this particular model.

Once connected, it is a great, quick printer and copier. The initial toner lasts a few hundred pages. Typing in wifi/network codes with only up and down buttons is annoying. Also, when switching to another wifi in the same location, there were time-consuming errors.
