    Great printer

I have had this printer for a few weeks now, and it is great. It quickly prints whatever I need from all of my devices (ipad, iPhone and computer). Installation was a breeze. My ink jet printer stopped working. I decided not to replace with another ink jet printer because the ink would dry out before I could use it all. Since, this machine uses toner which is powder it should last until the toner is gone before needing to be replaced. This will save me a great deal of money in the long run. It runs quietly and doesn’t take up much more space than my ink jet printer.

    It ain't heavy - it's a Brother

I've been recommending Brother laser printers and multi-function machines to my clients for the past 25+ years; this machine is another in their long line of decently-priced, well-made workhorses. If you don't need color printing - and most business applications really don't - a Brother laser is the most cost-effective, reliable option in the small office/home office realm. If your office prints/copies tens of thousands of pages per month, don't buy this - lease one of those refrigerator-sized monsters and let the leasing company deal with maintenance. But if you use a few reams of paper per month, this machine will cover your needs nicely. This machine can scan and print over USB, WiFi, or Ethernet; I recommend Ethernet (i.e. plugged directly into your home/office LAN) if you can manage it. It's _almost_ as simple to set up as plugging in USB, and much more stable/reliable once it's set up. It's a monochrome (black/white) laser printer, but of course it scans in color; it's not designed for high-end photographic reproduction, but for business or Web work it's very good. If your office still needs to fax documents (hello, doctors!), this machine does it very well; Brother (via their Intellifax line) has a lot of experience making fax machines, and they haven't forgotten how. There are multiple configuration options in case you have to deal with a bad phone line or a weird, incompatible fax machine on the other end; on the other hand if you don't need to mess with that stuff, it Just Works. Still recommended after all these years.

    Brother's Solid Little Printer

This is another solid little printer from Brother. While this is my third Brother Laser Printer purchase, that's not to say they aren't built to give you years of excellent service. Bottom line, that's just the way things are and everything wears out. Having had my fair share of nightmares with Epson, the Brother product has not disappointed comparatively. Brother has consistently built reasonably priced laser printers that produce quality results for the last 15 plus years.

I did a lot of research before buying a printer. I knew I wanted a laser jet - sick of the ink cartridge grift. We need a printer mostly for school and medical forms, occasional coloring book pages, and some work stuff. This Brother printer seems like a great buy for the price so far. Takes maybe 5 seconds from hitting print to finished product. It’s quiet, elegant and not too bulky. Definitely recommend. Hopefully it lasts as long as my husbands old printer which went 10 years.

    Brother Printer Good!

Good all in one printer. I refuse to use anything other than a laser printer and learned a long time ago to buy OEM Brother toner to extend life of printer. I have it connected to my desk top by cable but it will print wireless from my lap top, tablet and phone (several rooms away). Easy to set up and understand all functions. Great picture mode scans. The biggest issue is that the printer decides when the toner cartridge is empty regardless of how much toner is left and will not print until you buy a new one; due to that I have had to replace toner earlier than the advertised number of copies. I have not found a way to over ride the shut down. Printing envelopes is clunky as you have to turn the printer sideways and open the back and take the tray out and you have to watch to see if the feeder has "grabbed" the envelope and you have to print in bold and it leaves a slight "echo" of the address next to the address.

This is a great printer. Why: I set it up and forgot about it. When I need to print, it prints. I no longer worry about printing once a month and having to replace ink cartridges. Setup was painless. Air Print works great. I was suprised when my Brother printer told me it had an update waiting to be installed. This is the first printer I am actually happy with.

I bought this printer for our small business because its predecessor became unreliable in its network connections, especially scanning (it was a Brother MFC7840W bought new in 2008; never any trouble with it until recently!). This one is easy to set up on the network and all its functions (except faxing--I haven't tried as we no longer have a land line) work as advertised. It prints to both sides of a page, which makes it easy to save paper. It is essentially the same size as the previous one, and is a little faster. I considered other brands but was drawn to by our experience with the previous Brother. Based on my experience so far I would recommend it. Obviously, its longevity remains to be seen.

Solid All-Around MFC for home/small business

I had been settling for an HP MFC that I'd purchased in 2013 and never really loved (the ADF frequently jammed, and the wireless connection was buggy). When COVID-19 hit and I started working from home, I started depending on my home printer a lot more -- and I finally lost my patience with the one I had. After a positive experience using a Brother MFC while visiting a family member, I decided to give up on my longtime loyalty to HP and go for this unit. I couldn't be happier! The ADF is reliable, and the duplex scanner is a huge plus (especially while I don't have access to one in my office). The print quality is as good as any, and I was delighted to find that the replacement toner will cost less than it did for my old HP device. Set-up with my home PC and work laptop was a breeze, and the device actually wakes immediately when its called-up to start printing from either. Some of the feature upgrades are just a function of buying an MFC that's several years newer, but even comparing my immediate post-purchase experience in 2013 to 2021, I'm so much happier today than I was back then. (Plus, it has fax capability, for what I can only assume is pure nostalgia purposes.) Hopefully, this unit will hold-up and last me well into the future.

I had a Brother MFC 7860 for 8 years and never had any problems with it that weren't easily resolved. The issues I had were extremely few and far between. I could always count on this printer to get the job done. I run a small financial services business and the printer needed to be able to handle heavy duty printing on a regular day to day basis. This was key and necessary for the smooth running of my business. It finally gave up and I needed to get a replacement. Because I was so impressed with the performance of my last printer I only researched Brother printers hoping to find as close a match to it as possible. I replaced it with this printer and I am more than pleased with it's performance. It has performed equally as well as my old printer and I feel more than confident it will last for a very long time. I have not had any of the problems that are mentioned in the negative reviews. I would highly recommend this printer.

Also own an older similar Brother model, MFC-8860, that has serviced me well for a decade. Except, changed computers, the software for scanning would not travel and Brother would not re-supply. But this replaced an old HP and so far so good. Very similar to the other Brother printer, just a smaller footprint. Although I wanted black, Best Buy's site described as grey. The good news it did come black. Bottomline, after a week, does what it says it does, fairly quickly and setup on a small private network and mobile phone printing with no issues. Scanning, printing with duplex (2 sides) a breeze. One poster suggested using 300dpi as a print setting to save toner. Tested and the print came out with little difference from higher settings or the 600dpi I previously used. Since most of my printing is for internal use, I'll see if the theory works. Easy to change to a higher resolution for hand outs or presentations. Highly recommend this product for home or small office.

Recently I decided to go laser for the improved costs and reliability. To this printer, Pros: * It's super fast printing, with duplex multi-sided * The ADF scanner is also lightning fast, scanning both sides at once (single-pass) * Scan to "Searchable PDF" which also allows you to copy-paste fields from out of the PDF. (great OCR abilities) * Scan to Google-Drive and Evernote makes life so much easier! * The touchscreen makes user interaction easier * Didn't need to install any special software for Windows 10 to be able to print/scan over WIFI * Has far more on-board memory than the MFCL2740DW, which should fix some of the previous complaints about slowing down when scanning a huge multi-page job. Cons: * It's not any larger than the Canon mx-892 except that it's much taller by 5-6 inches * The touchscreen UI is a little disorganized: lots of scrolling/paging to get to the right options * The envelope printing is a bit of a pain: single feed only and requires opening the special back panel behind the printer. Overall, this is a perfect home office productivity machine and worth the investment to me.

We bought this on limited research and timeline. My wife is in her last semester of grad school and our HP OfficeJet died a quick, early death in the middle of an important project. I needed the scanning functionality, speed, and lower cost per page provided by a laser printer. Since I was done with HP, I selected this Brother. Setup was easy, though some of the functionality required for scanning isn't as intuitive as I'd like. Scanning to email only functions through a Mail client running on a computer. Since I use GMail's web interface on a Mac, I needed another option, so I chose the Scan to Google Drive. That allows the files to be sent to my Google Drive, and I simply share the directory with my wife for easy access. It also provides access to other online services like Box, One Note and One Drive. The process takes some steps to complete, and you may need to reference the online documentation for the printer, since included manuals are sparse. Print quality is what I would expect for a printer of this quality. 2 Sided printing works, though it's expectedly slower than single sided printing. The same is true of the scanner, though it works fine. I would say that scan quality is good to very good. It does what I need it to do. As far as toner goes, the included cartridge has printed a total of 669 pages, 624 of them double sided, and it is just about empty. I don't know the page rating of the included cartridge (read: If it's a low capacity starter or one of the actual retail versions) so it's hard to make that call. I did purchase the TN760, high capacity cartridge, and will be installing it likely in the next day or two.
