Jim Carrey is always funny. Very enjoyable movie. Watch Evan Almighty behind it

Bruce Almighty is definitely one of those uplifting movies that gave me a feeling and determination to keep watching again (at least once every 1-2 months). One of the reasons; Bruce Almighty stars Jim Carey as Bruce Nolan. He enjoys his job as a television promoter but wants to aim higher in his career. He ends up going through an initiation process of reinventing himself after an experience where he reacted with extreme shock (on national television)after he found out that his rival Evan Baxter (Steven Carrell)got the job he wanted and is sitting next to a coworker named Susan Ortega (Catherine Bell) who he slightly admires. At the time Bruce Nolan was standing next to some type of cruise ship boat called Maid of the Mist and out loud sarcastically confused one of the woman he was interviewing for someone who was on the Titanic and Katherine Hepburn’s mom (with a light-hearted and respectful comedic nod to Kate Winslet). Fortunately he has a caring and self-confident girlfriend named Grace Connelly (Jennifer Aniston) who works at Small Wonders Daycare. Bruce Nolan’s life becomes radically changed after he spiritual surrenders to God and actually meets God (played by Morgan Freeman). God explains to him how things work which is really important as he makes sense of being able to do a Clint Eastwood impersonation, parting tomato soup in a diner, and walking on water. There are numerous pop culture references in Bruce Almighty as well such as when the song Power by Snap plays in the movie as he is using his newfound powers, Never Gonna Give Ya Up by Barry White during a scene involving him and his girlfriend (including Right About Now by Fatboy Slim). There is even an appearance by Tony Bennett in Bruce Almighty where Bruce Nolan takes his girlfriend Grace Connelly to an upscale restaurant called the Blue Palm. There is even a moment of a Mark Twain themed chili cookoff. Please know that I also understand that there were many other strong contributions from other actors/actresses in the Bruce Almighty as well as other pivotal pop culture references. I was just listing what my intuition was guiding me to write.

I saw this in the theater when it first came out, and decided it was worth owning a copy. Took me almost 10 years, but I finally picked it up on DVD back around the holidays. Now I have it on Blu-ray too. Not exactly the type of movie that cries out for the high-definition treatment, but it certainly never hurts. I forgot how funny this movie is, at least to my tastes. Not surprisingly, Jim Carrey's style really sets the tone, although Morgan Freeman strikes a perfect balance between humor and a dignified bearing, and Steve Carell proves he can improvise utter nonsense and make it hilarious. Also, as a big fan of Kung Pow: Enter the Fist, I can clearly see Steve Oedekerk's influence here, although Bruce Almighty was obviously crafted with more mainstream appeal in mind. And although it's unquestionably a comedy, Bruce Almighty offers a dash of feel-good inspiration via the moral that no matter how bad things get, you can turn it around by looking within yourself, identifying your strengths, and making the most of them. And yes, that's a somewhat trite, clichéd, and often downright unrealistic idea. But by being a comedy, the movie doesn't take itself too seriously, and thus saves itself from coming across as heavy-handed. Just have fun with it.

Bruce Almighty is the genre of movie that suits Carrey the best, where he can use his rubber face and funny voices and not seem out there. The movie is based on a touchy subject... RELIGION... but don't let that turn you away. It is done in such a respectable way that it doesn't effect the movies credibility. With an amazing cast including Morgan Freeman as God, I would suggest this to anyone who is looking for a great laugh and enjoyable movie.

There's no reason not to believe that this movie isn't funny, but the shocking thing about this flick is the fact that Morgan Freeman plays God. Mr. Freeman has to be the coolest person in Hollywood to play God and the President of the US within a five year span. This movie itself is just pure greatness

This is the best movie i had ever seen it is smart funny and has the best actor in it Jim Carrey. It is so funny that even though you watch it the first time you just want to see it again and again and again Morgan Freeman is a great actor to portary GOD

This is a very good comedy, with minimal physical humor (which I like). Sometimes, however, Jim Carey has a tendency to over-act a little, but that is nothing new when it comes to his comedys. The special features are fine, nothing too extravegant though. This movie ends with a good message, without being too preachy. I recommend this to anyone who wants a good laugh.

This will one day be considered a new classic. Lots of humor, a great plot, and some great messages make this not only a good film for adults, but for kids as well. The Blu-Ray Version was top-notch, and the images were all extremely clear and colorful. A+

this is a great movie. it is so funny. well all movies that have Jim Carey are hilarious. i kept laughing throughout the movie. this i have to say is my favorite movie.

This is a great comedy movie with one of the best comedians. Jim Carrey is hilarious as he portrayes Bruce Nolan in this great comedy. I can't forget Jennifer Aniston either. You got to get this movie.

This has to be one of the funniest movies of all time! I laugh until I cry every time I see it. It's great entertainment and worth owning so you can see it again and again.

Jim is god in the film, I mean the film is good and it shows what we would do if we were the big man upstairs

This is really funny. Jim Carry is awesome! It is only $10 so you should definitely buy it.

I was severely disappointed in the quality of this particular blu-ray disc. I like the movie, which is why I wanted it on blu-ray to replace my dvd. This was one of the worst quality blu-ray movies I have seen (possibly the worst). It looked like an upscaled dvd. Viewed on Panasonic TC-P60ST60, with Monster 1000HDX HDMI cables from a Panasonic DMP-BDT220.

This is a fantastic movie!! Jim Carrey does a very good job in this role.
