This kit comes with Raspian ready to load using Noobs so very easy to get up and running. Plenty of memory and everything you need to start experimenting. Purchased for my son, who is in college, to experiment with. He and I played with it over Christmas and I liked it so much, I'll be buying one for myself. I'm an IT consultant so having an inexpensive test computer that I can take throw in my bag and take on the road beside my iPad is a great option so I don’t need a laptop.

    Good place to start but...

I picked this up mainly because I needed another pi4. I grabbed this bundle specifically because it comes with the case/power supply/hdmi cable, but I also needed another breadboard and since I was already here, might as well grab this one rather than order it online and pay shipping. As a Pi starter kit, the other cana kits are far better priced for what your getting. The whole reason this is the ultimate maker kit is because it includes a breadboard a breakout board to bring all of the gpio pins to the board and such, but it really falls short immediately after that. The only components it comes with are a few LEDs, resisters, a pair of buttons, and some jumper wires. The components are all good quality, nothing wrong there, but its far from worth the extra 30 bucks your paying to get them. It doesnt really need much more than this, but some kind of sensor, a peizo buzzer, maybe an IR emitter/receiver would all be perfect super low cost components that could have and should have been included to make the kit more interactive as far as the kind of things you can make without needing to go buy another kit of parts. [that will likely have its own breadboard and breakout for the gpio] In short, if you already have sensors and other little breadboardable things from other kits [like from an arduino maker kit] it's not a bad little addition, as the breakout board is definitely useful. but if its your first kit, it would be a better use of money to get the breakout separately and a separate maker kit that contains a large selection of sensors and such so that you can make things that interact with the world. As this kits interaction stops at push button, and blinking LEDs.

I have had this kit for a year. It is an amazing computer for the price. I just use it as a hobby/learning computer to create various projects for fun. I have installed various OSes (from the supported list) and each works great.

First, this kit has everything you need for a basic project. It doesn’t have a camera module or a fan so there’s some room for improvement but you’ll be off the ground running and arguably the most helpful inclusion, the power supply, will keep your pi running nicely. The reason for the 3 stars is because the pi I got worked for a couple days the. Developed an overheating problem that literally burned me and melted the cables attached to it and caused it to never boot again. Obviously not normal behavior but I’ve never experienced anything like it with a pi. I haven’t tried another yet and I’m confident the replacement won’t be as fragile but I’m also never going to be able to comfortably just shove a pi4 in some random wall to take care of an automation need in case it lights on fire.

Within about 30 minutes I had LEDs blinking on a bread board with my own Python cod using the provided quick start guide. It comes with a power supply and a memory card with the operating system preloaded.

Purchased this kit for my nephew who is into computers. I liked that this has everything in the box that he needs to get started with Raspberry computing (board, case, power supply, MicroSD card, USB reader for installing OS, etc.), but I was definitely impressed that the kit had a breadboard and components - items you typically have to purchase after the fact.

I've been playing around with Raspberry Pi's since they first came out. This version 4 is really great and much more powerful than the ones that were made even a few years back. The one thing that I would suggest is to get one with more than 2GB of RAM. That is my only gripe about this one.

Increased performance and onboard memory over the Pi 3. Depending on your application, the new Pi 4 may resolve some issues. Nice upgrade to full 4k video support. Be aware the video interface is mico HDMI and not the standard size connector. The ethernet interface is also upgraded to full Gigabit. USB 3.0 is also supported.

The Pi and case are excellent. The only issue I have is the amount of electronic components to use on the bread board is minimal. However Canakit has other more robust starter packs so it isn't that much of an inconvenience.
